The Housers aren't going to be around forever. The company is down to one, So I would expect to see games like GTA and RDR to take different direction in 5 to 10 years. Its hard to believe 2 guys have been responsible for some of the most influential games for over 25 years, but that's going to end and I seriously question how Rockstar is going to move forward without them.
I think it's in development because when I first played RDR2 and found the viking helmet and the axe, my very first thought was that it was used as a test as to how the mechanics would work and if people would enjoy this kind of game and I always thought that the next new ip they release would be a viking/medieval game

Another thing is I think rockstar is concerned about there reputation, as the definitive edition was out sourced to another company yet rockstar got the backlash, so they might stick with something that is not only familiar like a shooter but something that they invest in and receive sales from.

As much as I would love a medieval Rockstar game, I would actually prefer to see their take on full-blown fantasy. I know people only want to see Rockstar play in the real-world sandbox, but properties like Berserk, A Song of Ice and Fire, the Eternal Champion, The First Law, and The Witcher (the books not that disgrace of a Netflix show) show that fantasy can be gritty and brutal. A Medieval Rockstar game will be EPIC! They would definately have to have a compelling combat system though, especially since it would be mainly melee based.
As long as those multiple Rockstar studios take the time and care they typically take to make games. Taking 10 years to make a massive game like Red Dead 2 is the best way to go about it rather than pumping out a new game every year. Fingers crossed they never loose this mentality!

If they carry over everything we love about GTA into a medieval fantasy game would be phenomenal. By this I mean the adult content and humor. Would love to visit an Elf strip club in a pub, engage in cross-race relationships with different choices. Wacky side missions, like helping a crazy Dwarf invent the first blunderbust-like gun with magic and alchemy. So much potential without even getting into mounts, story, etc. Oh, and nudity, of course 🤣
If they make Medieval GTA type game, they can do fantasy DLC like they did with Undead Nightmare. So the main game will be your typical historical medieval setting, and the DLC will be on the lines of hunting trolls under bridges, saving princesses from castles, elves and magic. The Rockstar can also make fun of RPG cliche and Fanatsy books, like WItcher did with the Land of 1000 fables, where Rapunzel hanged herself, because prince died while trying to climb the tower, something Rockstar would do like a dark fantasy.

It's very strange to see a medieval Rockstar Game - All of the open-world Rockstar games I've played have starred protagonists who never fit in a particular role - they're always outlaws, criminals, with little loyalty towards something like a King or army. It's difficult to imagine something like that in medieval times. I guess we could play as a Hedge Knight? Who roams around kingdoms and performing errands or crimes? Or maybe we roam with a bandit gang? Or are we going to be part of an army which fights a war. Or maybe we play as a spy in enemy territory kind of like Sleeping Dogs? The mind wanders. All set aside, I have full faith that Rockstar will deliver. Also this is the first time hearing about Rockstar India. Does this mean the game will be wholly developed by Rockstar India, the seemingly new branch? Being from there myself I know that videogames aren't a huge deal in the country so I hope they handle it with care just as a Rockstar game deserves, and it doesn't end up being the Grove Street Games situation we had with the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition.

I wonder how well they would do melee fighting mechanics. GTA and both RDR were awesome games, but the shooting and especially the melee kind of leave something to be desired. It’s doesn’t have to be kingdom come or for honor or anything, but something more than just light and heavy attack and block would be interesting
medieval era has such a easy and amazing setting ... i mean what everybody would want is you start out as a lowly person who can barely buy land (maybe your a hidden royal who finds out his has royal blood throughout the game) but anyway you do buy land and work your way up to a manor lord with little more influence and power and eventually you keep working your way up the nobility ladder to getting invited to the Kings court where once there you plot your way to somehow taking the throne ,, and once on the throne you can start conquering other countries ,, also all the while going through the process to picking a queen ,, lastly going Tudor style lopping anyone's head off who tries to go against you lol or maybe even a better idea for medieval game even though its probably been done before (but not great) is having a massive Crusade type game where you have to recruit knights from all over europe to Crusade to Jerusalem and either defend it or re-take it

Dragon's Dogma 2 will be it's competition. I'm currently playing the first and it has amazing mechanics for an older game that surpasses many current ones.

I think that "Rockstar-Games" should mix-up "Skyrim", "Kingdom Come: Deliverance", "Medieval Dynasty" & "Crusader Kings 3". That would be the perfect mixture for a medieval and realistic action-strategy-survival-rpg with diplomatic and good fighting system and amazing quests.
with the horse mechanics of red dead 2 and that immersive world esp with the hunting the box and the melee combat even tho mainly being cinematic for red dead purposes could be refined into a very amazing game

A Medieval grounded game by Rockstar would amazing also a Pirate game. This was released a few years back in a buggy state mind you, now vastly improved especially on ps5, runs great, Kingdom Come Deliverance, best game I've played so far next to Valhalla, graphics, the way the game is layed out and the forests are truly a sight to behold with the weather affects the way the water runs off the gutters and creates streams that head into the main river, the little things absolute masterpiece. Just reinstalled on ps5 doing a re run. Beautiful game.

It's very strange to see a medieval Rockstar Game - All of the open-world Rockstar games I've played have starred protagonists who never fit in a particular role - they're always outlaws, criminals, with little loyalty towards something like a King or army. It's difficult to imagine something like that in medieval times. I guess we could play as a Hedge Knight? Who roams around kingdoms and performing errands or crimes? Or maybe we roam with a bandit gang? Or are we going to be part of an army which fights a war. Or maybe we play as a spy in enemy territory kind of like Sleeping Dogs? The mind wanders. All set aside, I have full faith that Rockstar will deliver.
Also this is the first time hearing about Rockstar India. Does this mean the game will be wholly developed by Rockstar India, the seemingly new branch? Being from there myself I know that videogames aren't a huge deal in the country so I hope they handle it with care just as a Rockstar game deserves, and it doesn't end up being the Grove Street Games situation we had with the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition.
A medieval rockstar game would be really good, Can't wait for all the monitization and transaction shark cards kick in and all the hackers and mod menu users run around like kings in their very own castles lol 😂
If the game has combat like Kingdom come, or hopefully better and as historical (or more historical) as kingdom come I’m definitely getting it.
Given they're now fully part of the woke cult I'd say it's not gonna happen and GTA6 is gonna suck almost as much as the last Saints row. These people hire their devs based on their ideology not on their skills, hence why their activists passing as devs are incompetant. Don't dream too much.

@@ollie9790 Of course RDR2 was incredible and the 1st too, so was all the old GTA. But the company got the same name but not the same purpose, if you'd get out of your cave sometimes, you'd know that their actual stand on their previous titles is that they hate them and deem them offensive.

I wonder how well they would do melee fighting mechanics. GTA and both RDR were awesome games, but the shooting and especially the melee kind of leave something to be desired. It’s doesn’t have to be kingdom come or for honor or anything, but something more than just light and heavy attack and block would be interesting

medieval era has such a easy and amazing setting ... i mean what everybody would want is you start out as a lowly person who can barely buy land (maybe your a hidden royal who finds out his has royal blood throughout the game) but anyway you do buy land and work your way up to a manor lord with little more influence and power and eventually you keep working your way up the nobility ladder to getting invited to the Kings court where once there you plot your way to somehow taking the throne ,, and once on the throne you can start conquering other countries ,, also all the while going through the process to picking a queen ,, lastly going Tudor style lopping anyone's head off who tries to go against you lol
or maybe even a better idea for medieval game even though its probably been done before (but not great) is having a massive Crusade type game where you have to recruit knights from all over europe to Crusade to Jerusalem and either defend it or re-take it
I really hope it stays with the same style of humour as the GTA franchise. I thought Rustler covered this genre but very excited to see how Rockstar develops this project.

Dragon's Dogma 2 will be it's competition. I'm currently playing the first and it has amazing mechanics for an older game that surpasses many current ones.

I remember this being teased back in the day. Before we even knew RDR2 was officially coming out. I hope they do choose to make this at least before I die so I can play it.

I think that "Rockstar-Games" should mix-up "Skyrim", "Kingdom Come: Deliverance", "Medieval Dynasty" & "Crusader Kings 3".
That would be the perfect mixture for a medieval and realistic action-strategy-survival-rpg with diplomatic and good fighting system and amazing quests.

with the horse mechanics of red dead 2 and that immersive world esp with the hunting the box and the melee combat even tho mainly being cinematic for red dead purposes could be refined into a very amazing game

Honestly, Rockstar managed to have their more grounded, depressing take on the wild west still be an appealing world to play in, they would knock the medieval setting out of the park, especially if they wanted to do mild fantasy

Really can't see rockstar doing this, even if they do it will probably end up abandoned like RDR2. Even if it was released I'd much rather support smaller studios making quality medieval games
A Medieval grounded game by Rockstar would amazing also a Pirate game. After GTA6 there so many games Rockstar could Do Of course RDR3 which RDR is my favorite game series but I feel like Doing a New IP such as the ones I mentioned would be great. On Top of that bringing back that game Agent along with IPs like Bully and LA Noire would be great.

This was released a few years back in a buggy state mind you, now vastly improved especially on ps5, runs great, Kingdom Come Deliverance, best game I've played so far next to Valhalla, graphics, the way the game is layed out and the forests are truly a sight to behold with the weather affects the way the water runs off the gutters and creates streams that head into the main river, the little things absolute masterpiece. Just reinstalled on ps5 doing a re run. Beautiful game.
