All this stuff sounds amazing, but all I'm asking for is good vehicle physics. GTA IV and V both go in extreme opposite directions but I think something in between would be perfect
@@dabalishis1585 The only part of the leaks that I seen that displayed good vehicle physics was the clip where Lucia was standing by a street and a Futo was backing up and then went forward. @@fordgtcar110 Yeah based on that clip of Lucia you described alone, if they stick with those physics I'm confident that the vehicle physics are gonna be great. I don't think it can get any better than gta 4 in terms of movement, but improvements can be made in damage and other area. That being said, vehicles in general have seemingly received alot of attention and overhaul in gta 6 even in how they're designed, as NPCs can now hang outside windows and so on
The patented session zone concept is sounds very similar to OneSync that gets used in FiveM. In FiveM, you are able to achieve 2000+ player servers with this level of sessioning described in the video. Perhaps Rockstar testing the waters. The Interesting thing is, is that OneSync was established long before the Rockstar acquired CFX.
The patent also sounds similar to Star Citizen's server meshing technology. Quite exited to see if R* succeeded on implementing that, bc it looks like quite a hard feature to code according to the SC devs
When the OneSync Infinity came out, the idea of synchronization was explained by community like in this video - map divided by zones. In reality the synchronization used by FiveM works by using distance culling mechanism, the network entities which are out of player culling zone was completely unloaded from player game, any sync packets was not sent from server until the entity comes back to sync zone (425 distance units). The idea of switching player sessions in miliseconds was already implemented in GTA 5, known as "Routing Buckets", FiveM implements this, allowing server owners to route player to other world dimension, the entities between the buckets are completely separated and switch can be done by just one line of code. So implementing this method of networking was already tested in GTA thanks to FiveM and it works really nice.

I expect grave. Rockstar has released nothing but garbage 🗑 since 2021. GTA6 trailer NPCs look soft and fat. Not to mention the cringe twerking. If GTA6 is nothing but GTA5 online auto shop dialog....im returning day 1.

I love the idea of having different parts of the map split into different sessions, this is a mechanic they use in Destiny to optimise server performance and reduce lag.
Seems like they kinda morphed the car stuff into gta, hopefully this new one will have cooler car physics since it seems like they’ve been experimenting with different stuff in gta 5
it is a tragic that the industry forgot the qualities that rockstar strives to embody. if you make a good product, it will pay for itself 100x over without any difficulty.

That shit is long gone and over and never was anything to flip out about I. The first place. They need to quit playin and get their ass back to work. They ain't gettin nothing done workin from home.
They get profit sharing and other performance based bonuses. That's one of the big incentives with the big studios to see it to the end. That and getting credited in the game. R* is notorious for keeping you off the credits if you don't see it to launch.
I think unfortunately a lot of people who hear anyone suggest that most interiors should be enterable have a lack of imagination when shutting down the idea. Usually thinking in a binary way that it all has to be built bit-by-bit or it has to be a bland, repeating set of interiors that have been built by basic procedural generation. This simply doesn't have to be the case going forward. I think we're finally at a point where these systems can be implemented and varied properly without it taking unreasonable manpower or hours. We were never going to reach a point where we'd build every interior in a bespoke manner; so imagine something like this: Different building types can be tagged, artists can build a handful of example rooms and transitional spaces for those types or subtypes. A vast amount of asset variables (colours, patterns, shapes, layouts, items etc.) can be used and randomised with certain rulesets (mostly during dev, some real-time). AI-driven Procedural systems can then build out the interiors of buildings based on basic layouts provided by devs. They could be mixed with some bespoke elements of course including lobbies, exteriors and areas used in narratives/missions, then when complete could be embellished on in many cases and checked by devs/artists and QA/QC; on a "virtual conveyor belt" of tasks during dev. These systems could even learn certain rulesets by analysing developer workloads and actions during the post-generated embellishment stage, further refining what's generated in the first place and reducing that workload further. If they could integrate NPC systems and Loot into these interiors then there's all kinds of possibilities (subsets of behaviour and items could also be driven by building/location types).. Imagine the hotel/apartment tower in the trailer where you can land on the roof or go in the front. Most rooms a real environment: some doors locked, some unlocked, some open, NPCs inside or transitioning through going about their business. You could blow some doors open, knock on them and hold them up, pick the locks. Steal stuff. Heck, just blow a window open and jump out with a 'chute after raiding some guy's safe. I don't think this stuff has to be a pipedream anymore. It's a matter of artist-examples assigned to building types, built-out primarily by AI/Procedural systems with a vast number of variables and subsequent permutations, then embellished on to varying degrees. Then it'd be a case of layering other "systems" to integrate it into the world. If anyone could implement artist-driven, highly variable AI/Procedurally-Generated interiors with additional artist-embellishment and dev QC it'd be R* with a 7-12yr dev cycle, $2B+ and their talent. ..paired with seamless transitions made possible by the SSD + I/O of current gen consoles & capable CPUs. I think I will genuinely be underwhelmed if something like this isn't the case in more future open-world games and this otherwise beautiful looking world remains lacking in depth when it comes to building interiors. If I walk up to that building and it's just locked off or at best has a few interior areas for story elements, it's going to leave me a bit non-plussed. There's a point where a certain level of visual fidelity and dynamic living worlds require this depth or else it feels stilted, uncanny and limited. The visual and interactive elements need to be on equal footing. If these worlds become more realistic or even just hyper-realistic with greater attention to detail and dynamism, yet my character is unable to open a door and step into a room, the suspension of disbelief starts to break down. It's been fine up 'til now but it's starting to wear thin and we have rapidly-advancing, potential solutions coming up right now. It's been a long time since there have been any real revolutions in games that fundamentally add depth to the world... I don't wanna shake off the cops by going round the block and hiding any more. I wanna enter a hotel, take the lift and go haul myself up in a room, during which, as I enter all these nooks and crannies, I wanna feel like I'm peeling back the curtain on the lives of NPCs: before I enter said room I knock on the door (and assuming Jay is a cop, I show my badge...or if not, I acquire a fake), they let me in amd I hold the guy up, his wife was sat on the sofa watching TV but now she's cowering in the corner. I bash a door open on the way through and some guy is just sat there taking a dump, he runs into the living room corner with his pants round his ankles and the guy I'm holding up joins him. I proceed to steel their stuff to sell later. Then, a SWAT team comes to hunt me down, but I've stuck C4 in the hallway and I'll blow 'em up. Then I'll make my way to the roof, jump off and open my chute, land on a boat in the river, steal it and make my way back to the safehouse. I know just saying "AI" cause it's the big new thing sounds like a trope and an over-simplification. But we're already seeing systems like this build outwards and construct believable varied cities or other landscapes. There's no reason to believe this can't be turned inwards to building interiors by major game software companies; and then for it to be tied into various simulations and gameplay mechanics in the world. This is a job humans will likely never be able to do, so it's the perfect application. I think it's just a matter of time before this happens. It's just a case of who... I really hope it's R*. If they can do 20% bespoke + 60% creatively generated + ~20% creatively locked off; it'd be great. You also have to remember some interior spaces are actually naturally repetitive anyway, so a decent chunk would be relatively straightforward.
I loved reading this. They should hire you to storyboard and direct the gameplay concept. It seems to me that games being developed right now are in an awkward limbo between the conventional methods of development and a massive AI revolution which will make everything that came before seem quite outdated, certainly in the case of open world games. So I wonder the extent to which GTA6 will utilise AI. I remember thinking deeply about the future of immersive games when I was a kid. It’s not something I spend a lot of time doing now, but your comment totally reinvigorated my enthusiasm for what games were supposed to become before they became stale. I’m not thrilled about what AI might do to society but I am giddy like a 12 year old nerd at the prospect of what it might do for immersive games!
I’m waiting for AI assisted random gen which is sure to come. Question is when. I don’t know if the new gta will be the first next gen AI game or the last game to be made by humans. It is hard not to have high expectations after seeing things like Sora drop.
I think Rockstar already changed gaming history with Red Dead 2... Its a detailed and insane realistic game, so beautiful. If that detail and more are put in GTA 6 they will do it again. No other company is at that level.

The Scenes from the trailer are likely just fillers and will not be seen in the game. Just like gta 5‘s trailer in which certain scenes were shown like an npc hammering a sign for a house but never actually happened when playing. I doubt that npcs will be as crowded as in the trailer as they will only make it look more full in the trailer to generate more hype.
One of my friends that i graduated with has worked on the NPC AI for the last 2 years And trust me. From the little he's been able to tell me, shits getting crazy
3:36 Procedural generation is not usually made with ai so im not sure who decided to use something as unstable and random as ai to control something like that. Should just use the normal method of procedural generation with rules and limits.
I’m genuinely so excited to experience this piece of art, I remember getting the Game Informer magazine with GTA V back when I was in 5th grade. Crazy how much life has gone by since then.
@morsmutual, The "SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GAME OBJECT AND ENVIRONMENT GENERATION" patent has no word about AI. This system just adds to the objects and assets additional metadata which could help to combine it randomly. Like, you have a model of naked person, and the head contains of metadata about the head size and etc. Then, we could randomly attach another model which will fit those requirements.
I think what will literally change the gaming industry is when they implement actually talking to NPCS, using ai to give each its personality, answer questions, and motion capturing for reactions, etc. Since they are going to implement ai into ambient generation and other aspects of the game, is this actually possible?
personally I remain skeptical and I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but look at everything R* has done in the past few years, I suspect the game will still be a technical and graphical marvel, but there is many many many red flags we have seen from the company and an exodus of senior developers from previous games that means this could be a disaster at launch. I won't be pre-ordering it that's for damn sure. Anyone who's short on cash I would respectfully advise to do the same thing. I hope i'm wrong though.
Looking at the state of AAA and Rockstar in particular, I'm fairly certain that GTA6 will be either a massive flop or the CP2077 tier release Barely anyone discusses that almost all of the people who were behind GTA5 and RDR2 are no longer in the company And seeing how bad the old GTAs remasters were I only shudder to think how bad it's going to be. The gaming industry is no longer the same landscape it was 10 years ago, there's no incentive for people with skills and talent to work for AAA studios since they can make more by going indie or have more creative control if they work for a smaller studio. All AAA these days are full of talentless hacks who are in it for an easy paycheck.
Lol then don’t buy it dude, no one’s forcing you. We’ll enjoy it whilst guys like you and that other tosser I replied to continue to lament about how “the gaming industry is so bad nowadays”.
as a developer I can't even imagine how it feels to be part of such a game project and the ultimate feel when the product is shown and delivered to the public
Probably won't change it one bit. Probably will just have a 10 hour story and online and people will preorder that shit so hard it might also turn into another cyberpunk 2077 type release. If not, it will be a pleasant surprise. Until then, I don't wanna hold my hopes up in this current gaming market where half baked steaming piles of shit get shipped all the time.
As much as I love GTA, it really lacks in open world details for modern gaming; the vast majority of houses can’t be entered, the vast majority of objects can’t be touched/moved, they went away from physical character development like in San Andreas, there’s no ‘end game’ or reason to continue playing (like turf/gang wars in SA), story is very linear and no repercussion on your actions.. R* could be developing a much deeper, real, open world with features we all expect in an open world RPG but they release the same stuff with very little innovation 🤷♂️
I doubt it will change anything drastic. Nicer graphics, bigger open-world, maybe proper dynamic NPCs but let's face it, none of that is *really* innovative.

That being said, vehicles in general have seemingly received alot of attention and overhaul in gta 6 even in how they're designed, as NPCs can now hang outside windows and so on
Absolutely love these essay-type videos you started doing, keep up the good work man
The patented session zone concept is sounds very similar to OneSync that gets used in FiveM.
It can be done but need a lot of thinking@@lucas_is_away

We were never going to reach a point where we'd build every interior in a bespoke manner; so imagine something like this:
Different building types can be tagged, artists can build a handful of example rooms and transitional spaces for those types or subtypes.
You also have to remember some interior spaces are actually naturally repetitive anyway, so a decent chunk would be relatively straightforward.
thanks for putting so much effort in your comment. I agree with all of it. thanks for using 'non-plussed' correctly as well.
