HEVC 10-bit gives much better picture quality at 200 Mb than 264+ at 500 Mb. HEVC is newer codec and requires less bandwidth. 264+ is an old codec for old PCs with old GPUs.
Thanks for the info! I should mention when I first stumbled upon my “best settings” I was in fact using an old PC and old GPU (980ti) I will say though the 264+ at 500 is razor sharp but I’m hoping your suggestion is even more performance friendly. Cheers.
For a very new channel there’s some good bones here - good pacing, tight script, nice clean transitions. Just the audio could be cleaned up with some acoustic pads on the walls or roof to cut out some reverb and echo, and just balancing of the bed music and vo volume. Otherwise it’s all been really good!

You can't increase the bitrate as much on newer encoders because they're a lot more efficient than H264. They can give you the same (or better) quality while using roughly half of the bandwidth. H264 still has it's advantages, though. Figured I'd share the knowledge
Spot on about WiFi 6e, I couldn't believe how much of a difference it made, even coming from WiFi 6. I like to set the graphics a little higher and leave Spacewarp on automatic. I think VD has a really really good reprojection algorithm, and in most games I can't even tell if it's on or not (in a couple I can). Good video.
Oh man... I was on a Quest 2 with also a 10 year old PC and feeling 'pretty good' about it. I upgraded to a Quest 3 last month, massive improvement. 500$ I just ordered a whole new PC - i5-14600k, 7800 XT, 32GB RAM - Get's here this week. 1,500$ I also just ordered the S3 Pro headstrap and a Battery. 150$ (I also got some 3D printed Cat ears for it haha) Now I am looking at this router... and it's 180. This is overwhelming lol I feel like my 5GHz band is ok... but like you said, once you upgrade (the PC) and look back... it's clearer where you were. Might wait on that upgrade till I pay some of this down hahaha.
Hahah yeah responsibly 😄 the router can wait a bit if you feel like virtual desktop was performing ok. I think a dedicated router goes a long way. Your set up for quest 2 sounds a lot like mine. buy a prismxr pupis s1 ive spent so much money expirementing with routers cables and dongles i even bought this exact router in this video and returned it including many others and the pupis s1 was cheaper and i get amazing gaming no stutters no lag or visable frame drops. ive turned my friends onto this router and they say its better than any cable. i now play wireless pcvr and wired directly to power i can play uninterupted for hours even with service intrrupyions. watch reviews on it youll see its builtfor vr gaming unlike other routers just meant for wifi

The AV1 (quest 3) is just for Rtx 4000 series, AMD (i dont know), it falls back to automatic codec (HVEC for nvidea gpus) you can check in the about tab in VD streamer.
Thanks! Yeah I heard about this being for the 4000 series. I have a 4070 ti Super I was hoping it was going to be better but I don’t know it still seemed meh in comparison to a higher nitrate. I’m going to take a closer look.
I want to add, as i ran into this issue recently, that some budget wifi 6/7 routers cannot handle constant 500 mbps transfer rate, as they're on cheap CPUs. It will run great at that rate for a couple hours, but it will eventually drop frames and stutter. Quest 3 AVI works great on modern budget wifi 6/7 routers, but like the creator stated, it is a must to have one of these for the smoothest experience either way.
Good Video to get started some points though: -the bitrate can be higher on h.264(+) because the decoding is less demanding than for hvenc and AV1 (only available on rtx 4000 and rx 7000 cards). 500mbit/s isn't always better visually than hvenc(10bit) or AV1 at 200mbit/s. it depends on the game, results are similar though. -while wifi 6e has it's benefits (6ghz if alot of other 5ghz noise is great), but wifi 6(even wifi 5 works) is fine aswell. it works perfectly fine for me. You have to have a decent router though. Also the quest can get a 2400mbit/s connection on wifi 6 aswell if the router supports 160mhz bandwidth. not that it will ever use that much :P
Dude it’s so cool to learn things from yall. I will say… I saw 2400 mbps on WiFi 6 the the performances was terrible in comparison .. even on the same router I showed in the video. I wonder if I’m doing something wrong. I have the baby brother of that router (WiFi 6h) and I couldn’t get the performance like I can on this one (WiFi 6e) Now that I have a 4000 card I’ll see if the AV1 10bit looks better on some games. I mentioned to someone yesterday, I’ll admit I just threw money at the problem and was pleased with the results. Looking closer at the actual numbers I realize it’s a lot of overhead and I’m probably only using about 1000mbps. It I love it… even with limited knowledge I can play all around my house I get better than link cable performance. Thanks so for the insight! Pure gold.
You are still limited by the pc to router bandwidth and also you are only transferring a 2D 'flat' image copy with added latency. FAR FAR better to use a wired link unless you are dancing around a room ;-)
@@MevRB19 hahah yeah I get it. And sometimes I am dancing around the room 😅 I played the entirety of Lone Echo wired. With the amount of movement I like to have in a shooter I prefer wireless.
Unless you are using a router that supports DFS channels (his does), 160Mhz is too wide for 5Ghz and may encounter congestion. I have the same router and even at 6Ghz, I do not use 160Mhz channel width, 80Mhz is plenty wide and stable.

Yeah I tried it out and it worked great. I’m always trying to leave overhead in exchange for smooth gameplay. I realized I was leaving a TON of overhead … bad habits coming from using a 10 year old PC

I have a 70$ dedicated Wi-Fi 6 mini router for VD and it runs perfectly with the quest 3 . I can’t notice any flows or delays even beat saber and HL Alyx have the same performance like the link cable.
I think it being dedicated makes all the difference. The router in the video is certainly overkill. But its strength lets me get really far away from the PC and still get link cable (better than link cable actually) performance. $70 is solid what’s the name of it? It’s great to share better budget options for sure.
@@TheConstruct_VR: GL iNet AX1800 it’s very small. can fit in your pocket but it works so well with VD and Quest so that I’m not needing any cable anymore for Pc VR gaming

It’s portable it didn’t have good performance at all and not really a router. I wish the stock apps like link and steam would open up the bitrate a bit. I know it’s to keep the headroom clear and safe but I see a noticeable screen door effect that I do t have in VD at 400+ mbps.
Awesome video!! This is exactly what I needed. I was trying to figure out how to increase the bit rate for AV1, but did not realize it is only up to 200 Mbps. I will go back to H264 (I have always been a link user).
@@PErnInHA you’re right, but I’m a pixel peeper so I like the oh so slight crispness in the higher bitrate. With that said virtual desktop’s 200 looks better than Meta Link’s 200.
So If I’m correct, you connect this router via an UTP cable to your modem. (1gbit) Then you connect your PC via an UTP to the TP-Link and you connect the QUEST3 via WiFi to the TP-Li no as well.
@@bullshark1152 correct. To make it more clear you don’t actually have to connect it to your cable modem if you don’t need internet but that works for that purpose. [PC]~[Wifi6 Router] ~🛜~[Quest3] You’ll likely want to include the cable modem so all your usual quest connectivity works when you’re connected wirelessly to that router instead of your usual one.
@TheConstruct_VR Could you possibly make a small video tutorial on how to set the router up for the purpose of VD? My modem is downstairs, as my pc is upstairs. The whole process is a bit confusing to me, so I'd appreciate it a lot.

if you want to save 50 bucks ,while WIFI 6E will almost ensure the best experience, there is absolutely no benefit compared to a decent WIFI 6 router. It's good only if your area's signal is congested.
Good point! Where I have my router is very cluttered with other signals so the performance I was getting with the WiFi 6 router (same brand ) didn’t do nearly as well. A dedicated router with little to no interference is key. Thanks for spending some time in the comments 🫡
AV1 at 200mbps is = to h.264+ at 500mbps. It’s a more efficient codec, so it scales differently. That being said, AV1 isn’t recommended for fast paced games, so h.264+ is still a solid choice.

I agree .. I feel like they try to scare you from turning it off. There’s a warning about stuttering. But if your network is fine you shouldn’t need this..
If you use H264+ the quality of the image roughly equals HEVC at half the bitrate and even less using AV1 (if you have an NVIDIA GPU). H264 is a bit faster in terms of encoding speed, but that does not really matter if you have something around RTX 4070. The higher the bitrate the more latency you have. HEVC at 200+ Mbit is the sweetspot for me and to get a better image and no color banding i use HEVC-10 Bit. For some reason AV1 does not really work well on my RTX 4070.

@@TheConstruct_VR With a 4070Ti SUPER you should not run into many issues. With the 4070, which only has 12GB of VRAM i can play most games in GodLike resolution and i prefer to use DLSS to get the anti-aliasing and additional performance. In most games that offer DLSS i can set it to Quality mode, but even Balanced looks great in Godlike. The most important setting is STEAM VR, which definitely has to be set at 100%. Everything else will mess up the graphics pipeline and cause much more VRAM to be used. I am very much into optimization (since i am a developer myself i guess), so i try to play VR on lower end systems too, e.g. RTX 3070Laptop or RTX 2070 Super. Most content creators have higher end GPUs, but most gamers still do have an RTX 3060 or similar. And some people, who are using standalone VR and want to try PCVR become very frustrated, since there is almos no tutorial out there to run PCVR on those common systems.
@@ProgrammistMusic yeah good points. I was running PCVR in a 980ti and an AMD 8350 CPU. I had to pull out every stop to just get it to be playable and to be honest it wasn’t THAT bad. Unfortunately it’s given me habits of holding back on settings even after I upgraded
Probably worth mentioning that you have to have a router that can provide 6e. My motherboard has 6e WiFi included, but I use Virgin Media and have a Hub 3 which can only deliver 5e. I can upgrade to the latest hub which will give me 6e, but to switch to that would cost £35 for the hub upgrade and my monthly charge would literally double. :( However, great tutorial; clear and concise).
Yes! I thought I made that clear. But I didn’t call out that 5e isn’t fast enough for the settings I showed here. For your case you can buy a 6e router that has nothing to do with your ISP and use it just for VR. So it would just be the one time purchase of the router. Then you’d connect your quest to the dedicated 6e router when you play.

I'll have to copy your settings when I get home and try it out. I have the same 4070ti super with a 12th gen i7 and I've been having so much dropped frames when trying to his 120fps. I can only hit about 105 average. I'm sure I have a few settings to tweak to get that hopefully locked down.
@@BoneyardLabs still depends heavily on the game optimization too. Let me know how it goes. I was only able to get 120 on more simple titles. (Like super hot for example)
I can. I was just being OVERLY conservative. I like to leave some overhead. Also on half-Life Alyx I get a warning about graphics performance. But if I play anyway I don’t see many issue. I’ve been running 90 on godlike since this video. Thanks for watching!
@@iamjasonthompson Yeap. The Half-Life Alyx warning is most likely due to it not recognizing newer GPUs. Same thing happened with Meta Quest Link app. Don't know if they have updated yet or not.
i bought the tplink router and returned it for a prismxr pupis s1 and i wont ever go back and its just as much as the fiber optic and the vr bridge 80 bucks and pupis maxes out the q3 2401mbps bandwidth.
I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra, which it has WiFi 6e. Could I connect my Quest 3 directly to it using a hotspot option? I know it's a silly question, but just to be sure
Yeah I would think so but I’m not completely sure how the rest of it works like does the virtual desktop client look to that hotspot as a network device or not. If so… I can’t see why it wouldn’t work
You should be doing every optimization possible with an R7 200. But honestly these settings are most focused on making sure whatever your PC is capable of gets over to the headset smoothly. Virtual desktop settings won’t improve the performance of your R7 200 unfortunately
@@lorenzocorsomusic1308 that really won’t make a difference in this case. Those setting are changing the settings of the game. So if you’re using a browser and set it to 4K then you’re really good to go.
To have 6ghz and 2400 mbps you necessarily need a router with wifi 6e? Because I bought a big router but it's wifi 6 and I only reach 1200 mbps. Before changing it I would like to be sure
@@remi7219 yes it’s the 6e that’s getting it up to 2400mbps , I was using a 6 prior. The 6 is fine but the 6e will be faster and work better in a signal crowded area
@@Zyzomanz yes the connection speed still matters. So using a similar set up with Steam link will give you smooth results as well. I actually am starting to use steam link sometimes because it doesn’t go so hard for resolution like Virtual Desktop does
Separate. It’s JUST for VR/virtual desktop. This set up is beneficial for Steam Link and Air Link too. Nothing else in the house connects to this router. You can run your isp from the other router over here so you still have internet on the PC

Question, does Virtual Desktop not work with wired link ? - I only use my Q3 with wired link for PCVR sims in the seated position so as it is already wired then it would be far better to have it operate over the wired link. Do you have any info on that please ?. Keep up the great work.
Glad you liked it. I’m 99% sure this set up with the quest app is only for wireless. I’ll double check and if there’s something to share I’ll do a video. There is a classic virtual desktop that I don’t have much experience with. One suggestion if you’re having issues wired… Not all USB C 3.0 performs the same. Your PC could be slowing you down somewhere. Motherboard, graphics card etc. I’m sure you’re aware of these things. I’ll take a look. I will say this maxed out at 2401 Mbps on an updated rig feels just as good as wired when I play shooters. Thanks for watching!

I never have to worry about power or charging as I use the INIU link cable with power input that connects to the Q3 charger hence always a safe 75% - more or less - charge. How are you getting 2400 Mbps ? do you have a 2.5Gb or 10Gb ethernet connection on the PC hooked directly to the router ?. With a 1Gb ethernet you will only ever get a limit of 1000Mb/s. Cheers.
Hmm, in fact it looks as if the router is limited to 1Gb ethernet port so you can never run greater than 1Gb (1000Mbps) that is a quick glance though. So 2500 would not be possible. You may see a connection speed between the router and the Q3 of a certain figure, but that is meaningless unless the data from the pc is being transferred to the router at the same speed . (this is why wired is preferred by all pcvr sim users). Cheers
@@MevRB19 Yeah! You're 100% right. The transmit speeds claimed by TP- Link of 2402 (6ghz) and what you see in Virtual Desktop ( like in the video ) is simply Wifi Transfer Speed. Not the actual speed of the PC to the router as you pointed out. But what I've found is that having the wifi connection speed that high gives a LOT of overhead to keep get the full 1000Mbps without dropping. For example I had an older router that didn't have a 1GB port and while it had 2402 connection speeds the performance was AWFUL, so the combination of the Gigabit port and the over the top wifi speed is what makes this work so well. Also if i go downstairs that 2401 drops to about 1800Mbps but the game still runs buttery smooth. I'd say give it a shot and see how it compares to your wired set up. To be completely transparent I was so blown away by the performance I didn't look into the numbers as much. Thanks for the insight!
@@TheConstruct_VR Hey, no worries. I am sure it will be excellent and there should be no reason to unplug my wired connection to run wireless if needed. My router is good enough for a solid 866 Mbps on 5Ghz and my laptop with the 4070 in is the only one of 5Ghz as my wifes lappy uses 2.4. Thanks for the heads up. :) . As you say, you have stacks of overhead !. If you are interested in a cable that will give you a great link speed and keep the Q3 charged have a look at the INIU DI-401. I have just been testing 5 different powered link cables and this is one of the best. I have an AMVR cable to test in the next week which has shown great results on static load testing, just needs running on the headset. This also contains intelligent charging like the INIU. Anyways, going off topic a tad lol. I will give the virtual desktop a try for the non link apps as it offs a fantastic amount of options. Thanks again and keep it coming. Great channel !
I would bother with a buying a router, but i don’t know if it’s worth it. My pc is in my bedroom, the main router is downstairs in the living room, buying a new one and placing it in my bedroom i don’t know if it’s gonna make my experience better, i get a decent experience with the wifi extender from my ISP but get about 45 to 60ms latency. Depending on the game i get some noticable microstutters
@@penguinz3091 a router with 6e and playing next to would make a difference. But I understand your set up isn’t ideal unless you want to play in your bedroom. But your microsutters would go away for sure, just depends on how much they bother you. I think I’m getting like 5ms latency.
I also have a 4070ti super but I tried putting my settings every which way I could but it always ends up running and looking bad (granted I’m not streaming, I play steam vr games)
@@tophmerc Blade and sorcery and bone lab are great for me. Wired (Meta Link ) and Wireless. Steam Link or Virtual Desktop. I did have some struggles with H3VR, i just assumed optimization. If you’re having trouble wired wrought metal link, I’m curious if something else is happening, a bottleneck at your processor, slow speed through your USB, hard to tell.

Unfortunately I dont know if a way to do that while using the general quest UI. Removing the bar only works when running an app. Ggive Fluid a shot. It’s one I showed in the spatial computing video.
@@SamuelProcopio there’s lots of ways actually. The gallery when using the camera app in the general UI is a folder on the headset under a folder called Oculus There’s a whole android file structure under there. Unfortunately there’s no easy way like on the AVP. You’ll have to use an app like skybox or virtual desktop if you don’t feel like plugging your quest up to a pc. Then of course there’s always cloud (e.g google photos, one drive etc)

@@alpv3776 lots of variables can contribute to this. Graphics card, the game you’re playing, the performance of your PC. I haven’t seen that myself but I’m curious if you use 72hz instead of 90 do you still have the issue?
I tried using VD with my wifi 6e router and it looked amazing but every 10 seconds my FPS would drop to 0 and my screen would go black. No clue what the issue was but me and my friend concluded my PC’s motherboard doesn’t support wifi 6e ethernet?
@@TheConstruct_VR i looked in my command prompt and it didnt say the AX radio type was supported (wifi 6) but my friend who had a newer PC did have it and VD worked fine for him, so im thinking maybe my PC is too old and i dont have the proper drivers to support wifi 6. i was able to run VD on my wifi 5 router but the bitrate was locked at 30, and it ran perfectly fine just looked horrible
I’m not sure I understand. 🤔You will need some sort of router to do wireless PCVR. You don’t need any cable from the wireless router to the headset. The 2060 is doable. I was able to do PCVR gaming on a 980ti

@@johnclisset the network card in your PC could be the culprit. You’ll need a 2.5Gbps card in the PC to get the full speed of a router like one in the video
TheConstruct _VR what about latency/ping? I have fiber optic internet and 400-700mbs up and down and I get 80-100 latency/ping in game plus I’m on ethernet too Bit rate is at 45mbs on virtual desktop
Your internet doesn’t really impact this. The latency you see is the latency between virtual desktop streamer and your headset. Unless you’re talking about multiplayer, that’s not really a thing here Are you talking about the latency/ping in game or virtual desktop? If it’s in game your location to the server you’re playing in makes a huge difference. Your NAT state (open, closed , double ) google it. So many factors can impact in game multiplayer ping
@@adilawadilaw8248 the differences are super subtle. Lots of times it’s things like the level of antialiasing, ambient occlusion and other things in the game are rendered higher. To be honest I just go with high just to give myself overhead because I can’t tell much difference between them either. If you look closely at the edge of shadows or how crisp a texture is you may notice. But it’s likely not worth the performance cost
I just like having overhead and I honestly can’t tell enough difference. 120 works perfectly fine with my hardware as well. But it wasn’t shockingly different. It’s not too much of your hardware can handle it. But if I can handle 120 and run at 72 then I’ll likely not drop any frames at all during gameplay.

@@Zyzomanz try Steam Link (it’s free) first it throttles based on what bandwidth you have. The difference with virtual desktop is that it will try to reach whatever you’ve set it to no matter what… if your network or PC can’t handle it… you get the stutters

At this time i own a pico4 and its great for pcvr, but i have tougths on buying a quest 3 to also enjoy mixed reallity to program on the way with a lot of big screens. So pico connect has improved a lot over the years and rigth now its even better than vd since it supports ubs natively. Could i use a rj45 adapter to usb to use VD over ethernet, just like i did on my pico when the old app was garbage? I play simracings and for me its vital to reach 300mb or more, also set up a new AP is more annoying and expensive to me than just plug the cable. IDK if anybody has experience on this, thank you, and sry for my bad english xdd.
@TheConstruct_VR i tried both tethering and reverse tethering with meh results, very far away for the adapter. Also, there is a known bug in windows ubs driver thad causes BSOD when usb tethering, from my experience in my system will appear the blue scren about 10 minutes at maximum. On the other hand reverse thetering requires a external program like gnherit ( ? Idk how the fuck this program is spelled) and just suck up the performance. Dont know what the experience is in quest 3, but in pico 4, it was very bad

But I will say this WiFi 6E and 7 are really the newest WiFi Standards so that’s why routers with these specs are more expensive ( usually more that $100 ) I would save up for a 6E , for your needs it will work fine, no need to get a 7 yet. What do you need to know? The biggest thing about this is that you can tell your parent/guardian that this router can be JUST for VR to your PC it doesn’t have to interfere with the rest of the house. I may do a “ how to set this up” video soon
Hey, i got the same router for a dedicated connection and a kinda beefy PC (i912900K,32gb RAM @6200mhz and a RTX4090) yet i still got stutters in VD , the performance overlay shows latency and encoding spike up for no reason. Do you know any fix for that? tried sooooooo many settings already, double checked connection and so one. I dont know whats happening, sometimes it even spikes so hard that my PC just restards.

So even though you see the 2401 Mbps on WiFi 6 … for me at least WiFi 6E was COMPLETELY different. I’m sure everything else I tried you e already seen. If you don’t want to purchase anything give it a crap tone of overhead like set your streaming nitrate to 100 Mbps and inch up until the lag comes back. You’ll see where your limit is. Let me know
So i just realized you said same router. question, what game are you getting lag/choppiness in? And do you get it in every game? I assuming you’re using that 6ghz band but also I noticed that games built in Unity run a bit better. Your PC seems much more powerful than mine so I’m not sure what the hang up is.

@@TheConstruct_VR thanks for the fast answer! The thing is..i never had this before. I had to do a full reset on my pc (fresh windows and everything). I think i set everything up as it was in SteamVR and VD...but for some reason game latency spikes..gotta say graphics on my pico 4 do look more crisp. Its not only ghosts of tabor but every game..even the not so heavy VRCHAT. I'm running amd Rx6800 which is equivalent to a 3080. With ryzen 9 5900hx. But dont think thats the issue. Maybe since the last VD update i should lower from ultra to high with snapdragon? I know they mess with it sometimes in updates. Ill keep tweaking stuff. And with latency i mean spikes from 10ms to 20+- so only going down from 90fps to 75 ish..
@@byroone interesting. It could certainly be VD tweaking things also it could be the runtime or the latest drivers for your card. It all gets a bit hard to chase down. I was going to suggest the speed out of the network port on your Mobo but as you mentioned this wasn’t a problem before. I completely updated my PC so all of my problems went away at once and I could t really track what one thing fixed another. The fact that it’s every game though lets me know it’s something with VD and your setup for sure. Best of luck, let me know if you find a single culprit

I would see that when I was using my old PC. It’s just a processing power issue I think. Like how quickly your Pc can push the image over the USB cable. What are your PC specs?
Are you on WiFi 6e? The band definitely makes a difference. The bandwidth of the band allows for the super high bitrate. Make sure you use a router that’s at least WiFi 6 but 6E is how I got my setup to the way it is in this video. And don’t use the 2.4ghz band obviously
Possibly a quest 3 thing. Are you able to connect to the Wifi6E band on quest 2? I didn’t think you could. That higher bitrate may be locked behind that. Not sure.

@@SkullBoyPL it totally works if your hardware is up to par. But I honestly don’t see the difference. The games often don’t run that high anyway. And wirelessly you may still get stutters even with the best set up. I feel like leaving some overhead keeps everything smooth, the extra high frames didn’t seem worth it.

@@SkullBoyPL ah ok. Yeah 90 hz is enough for PC Vr to be honest. Most of the games in the quest are running natively at 90. Resolution and refresh rate are kind of different monsters in VR. You can’t physically move as fast as a mouse.
@SkullBoyPL yeah if you’ve been playing at 360 you’ll notice for sure. Yeah my router works great even outside of virtual desktop the speed benefits spill over to the steam link app as well (although it’s much less stable) The only thing I’d say is… don’t forget that you have normal hiccups on games that aren’t even VR, so if you see a hiccup here or there chances are you would have seen them on flat too, and now your PC is also doing heavy lifting sending the video over to the quest. Some games run better than others with all that going on
All games? Or one specific game? If it’s all games you should figure out how far apart your eyes are. There’s an app (on iOS ) called Eye Measure , it’ll help you figure out your IPD or Interpupillary distance (IPD) is the distance between the center of the pupils. That’s the number you see when you adjust the lenses. I’m a 70 so I have to set mine to max. Other than that make sure your headset is lower enough your nose should be pretty much covered so your eyes are in the center of the lenses. Not sure about a specific game being blurry bs another
@@UACW12A1D that one is WiFi-6 not 6e It will work fine if you stay nearby and dedicate the router to VR only but a 6e router will work faster and match the speeds in this video.

@ I’ve been messing with settings for an hour or so today with half life alyx and tbh between high uktra and godlike, h264+ at 386mb bandwidth and 200mb bandwidth with the quest 3 codec… it all looked the same to me 🤣 so I think I’ll take your advice and save some headroom and go easy on my pc
Its frustrating that trillion dollar software companies make Garbage bad enough that everyone has to go buy some code from a guy in his garage. Its as if a Company get so big it becomes like a government agency filled with losers who want a paycheck but hate to have to do any work for it.
It is frustrating that the meta link or meta air link has less performance / resolution than something like. Virtual desktop. I think streaming PC games just isn’t a big enough priority, what they have in place works and it’s free. From their perspective , the task is done ( just my opinion). I wish you understood more. Synchronous spacewarp is frame generation. if you have it as ALWAYS ON it forces your gpu to never render more than half your frame rate. if you have it at automatic, it turns on and off as you need. YES it creates warping artifacts. but if a game can only do 45 fps, you will get 90 fps. Which can GREATLY reduce motion sickness. Please don't misinform users. Fortunately for you the 4070 ti super rarely needs SSW
I never said it wasn’t effective for what its purpose I just don’t like using it because of the warping. I was on an old 980ti and still didn’t use it. ( although I probably should have) I was just sharing my preferences here. I’m sure viewers are smart enough to try it on or off for themselves. If i want to play No Man's Sky on my RTX 3070 Laptop i need to use SSW, since the game cannot even get up to 50fps on that machine at the lowest settings.Yes, you can see warping, but in No Man's Sky i got used to it and it does not bother me at all. But even on my RTX 4070 PC i use SSW sometimes to run games at 120Hz. So i am very happy that SSW exists, but i understand that some people can't stand it.

HEVC 10-bit gives much better picture quality at 200 Mb than 264+ at 500 Mb. HEVC is newer codec and requires less bandwidth. 264+ is an old codec for old PCs with old GPUs.

For a very new channel there’s some good bones here - good pacing, tight script, nice clean transitions. Just the audio could be cleaned up with some acoustic pads on the walls or roof to cut out some reverb and echo, and just balancing of the bed music and vo volume. Otherwise it’s all been really good!

You can't increase the bitrate as much on newer encoders because they're a lot more efficient than H264. They can give you the same (or better) quality while using roughly half of the bandwidth. H264 still has it's advantages, though. Figured I'd share the knowledge

Spot on about WiFi 6e, I couldn't believe how much of a difference it made, even coming from WiFi 6.
I like to set the graphics a little higher and leave Spacewarp on automatic. I think VD has a really really good reprojection algorithm, and in most games I can't even tell if it's on or not (in a couple I can). Good video.

I upgraded to a Quest 3 last month, massive improvement. 500$
I just ordered a whole new PC - i5-14600k, 7800 XT, 32GB RAM - Get's here this week. 1,500$
I also just ordered the S3 Pro headstrap and a Battery. 150$ (I also got some 3D printed Cat ears for it haha)
Now I am looking at this router... and it's 180. This is overwhelming lol
I feel like my 5GHz band is ok... but like you said, once you upgrade (the PC) and look back... it's clearer where you were.
Might wait on that upgrade till I pay some of this down hahaha.

buy a prismxr pupis s1 ive spent so much money expirementing with routers cables and dongles i even bought this exact router in this video and returned it including many others and the pupis s1 was cheaper and i get amazing gaming no stutters no lag or visable frame drops. ive turned my friends onto this router and they say its better than any cable. i now play wireless pcvr and wired directly to power i can play uninterupted for hours even with service intrrupyions. watch reviews on it youll see its builtfor vr gaming unlike other routers just meant for wifi

The AV1 (quest 3) is just for Rtx 4000 series, AMD (i dont know), it falls back to automatic codec (HVEC for nvidea gpus) you can check in the about tab in VD streamer.

I want to add, as i ran into this issue recently, that some budget wifi 6/7 routers cannot handle constant 500 mbps transfer rate, as they're on cheap CPUs. It will run great at that rate for a couple hours, but it will eventually drop frames and stutter. Quest 3 AVI works great on modern budget wifi 6/7 routers, but like the creator stated, it is a must to have one of these for the smoothest experience either way.
I wish I saw this video when it came out. That was around the time I was trolling through a ton of forums trying to figure all this out.

some points though:
-the bitrate can be higher on h.264(+) because the decoding is less demanding than for hvenc and AV1 (only available on rtx 4000 and rx 7000 cards). 500mbit/s isn't always better visually than hvenc(10bit) or AV1 at 200mbit/s. it depends on the game, results are similar though.
-while wifi 6e has it's benefits (6ghz if alot of other 5ghz noise is great), but wifi 6(even wifi 5 works) is fine aswell. it works perfectly fine for me. You have to have a decent router though. Also the quest can get a 2400mbit/s connection on wifi 6 aswell if the router supports 160mhz bandwidth. not that it will ever use that much :P
Dude it’s so cool to learn things from yall. I will say… I saw 2400 mbps on WiFi 6 the the performances was terrible in comparison .. even on the same router I showed in the video. I wonder if I’m doing something wrong. I have the baby brother of that router (WiFi 6h) and I couldn’t get the performance like I can on this one (WiFi 6e)
Now that I have a 4000 card I’ll see if the AV1 10bit looks better on some games.
I mentioned to someone yesterday, I’ll admit I just threw money at the problem and was pleased with the results. Looking closer at the actual numbers I realize it’s a lot of overhead and I’m probably only using about 1000mbps. It I love it… even with limited knowledge I can play all around my house I get better than link cable performance.

You are still limited by the pc to router bandwidth and also you are only transferring a 2D 'flat' image copy with added latency. FAR FAR better to use a wired link unless you are dancing around a room ;-)

Unless you are using a router that supports DFS channels (his does), 160Mhz is too wide for 5Ghz and may encounter congestion. I have the same router and even at 6Ghz, I do not use 160Mhz channel width, 80Mhz is plenty wide and stable.

A 3090 is only better than a 4070ti if you NEED tons of GDDR Memory, as the 3090 has double, at 24 Gb.

Ive been running my 3080ti at high settings at 120fps with 200mbps but could i bump it up to ultra?
@@gatgat01 i personally would do the 72fps to keep the choppiness down, I was doing 120fps / ultra and the frame difference wasn’t worth it.
I have a 70$ dedicated Wi-Fi 6 mini router for VD and it runs perfectly with the quest 3 . I can’t notice any flows or delays even beat saber and HL Alyx have the same performance like the link cable.
I think it being dedicated makes all the difference. The router in the video is certainly overkill. But its strength lets me get really far away from the PC and still get link cable (better than link cable actually) performance.
$70 is solid what’s the name of it? It’s great to share better budget options for sure.

It’s portable it didn’t have good performance at all and not really a router. I wish the stock apps like link and steam would open up the bitrate a bit. The AV1 codec consumes 30% to 40% less bitrate than H.265 while maintaining the same quality. This could be the reason for the 200 Mbps limitation.
@@PErnInHA you’re right, but I’m a pixel peeper so I like the oh so slight crispness in the higher bitrate. With that said virtual desktop’s 200 looks better than Meta Link’s 200.
So If I’m correct, you connect this router via an UTP cable to your modem. (1gbit) Then you connect your PC via an UTP to the TP-Link and you connect the QUEST3 via WiFi to the TP-Li no as well.
@@bullshark1152 correct. To make it more clear you don’t actually have to connect it to your cable modem if you don’t need internet but that works for that purpose.

You’ll likely want to include the cable modem so all your usual quest connectivity works when you’re connected wirelessly to that router instead of your usual one.

if you want to save 50 bucks ,while WIFI 6E will almost ensure the best experience, there is absolutely no benefit compared to a decent WIFI 6 router. It's good only if your area's signal is congested.
Good point! Where I have my router is very cluttered with other signals so the performance I was getting with the WiFi 6 router (same brand ) didn’t do nearly as well. A dedicated router with little to no interference is key. Thanks for spending some time in the comments 🫡
AV1 at 200mbps is = to h.264+ at 500mbps. It’s a more efficient codec, so it scales differently. That being said, AV1 isn’t recommended for fast paced games, so h.264+ is still a solid choice.

I don't recommend using video buffering as I believe it increases latency. In my opinion, latency is absolutely key in wireless VR gaming.
I agree .. I feel like they try to scare you from turning it off. There’s a warning about stuttering. But if your network is fine you shouldn’t need this..
If you use H264+ the quality of the image roughly equals HEVC at half the bitrate and even less using AV1 (if you have an NVIDIA GPU). H264 is a bit faster in terms of encoding speed, but that does not really matter if you have something around RTX 4070. The higher the bitrate the more latency you have. HEVC at 200+ Mbit is the sweetspot for me and to get a better image and no color banding i use HEVC-10 Bit. For some reason AV1 does not really work well on my RTX 4070.

@@TheConstruct_VR With a 4070Ti SUPER you should not run into many issues. With the 4070, which only has 12GB of VRAM i can play most games in GodLike resolution and i prefer to use DLSS to get the anti-aliasing and additional performance. In most games that offer DLSS i can set it to Quality mode, but even Balanced looks great in Godlike. The most important setting is STEAM VR, which definitely has to be set at 100%. Everything else will mess up the graphics pipeline and cause much more VRAM to be used. I am very much into optimization (since i am a developer myself i guess), so i try to play VR on lower end systems too, e.g. RTX 3070Laptop or RTX 2070 Super. Most content creators have higher end GPUs, but most gamers still do have an RTX 3060 or similar. And some people, who are using standalone VR and want to try PCVR become very frustrated, since there is almos no tutorial out there to run PCVR on those common systems.
@@ProgrammistMusic yeah good points. I was running PCVR in a 980ti and an AMD 8350 CPU. I had to pull out every stop to just get it to be playable and to be honest it wasn’t THAT bad. Unfortunately it’s given me habits of holding back on settings even after I upgraded

Probably worth mentioning that you have to have a router that can provide 6e. My motherboard has 6e WiFi included, but I use Virgin Media and have a Hub 3 which can only deliver 5e. I can upgrade to the latest hub which will give me 6e, but to switch to that would cost £35 for the hub upgrade and my monthly charge would literally double. :( However, great tutorial; clear and concise).
Yes! I thought I made that clear. But I didn’t call out that 5e isn’t fast enough for the settings I showed here.
For your case you can buy a 6e router that has nothing to do with your ISP and use it just for VR. So it would just be the one time purchase of the router. Then you’d connect your quest to the dedicated 6e router when you play.

I'll have to copy your settings when I get home and try it out. I have the same 4070ti super with a 12th gen i7 and I've been having so much dropped frames when trying to his 120fps. I can only hit about 105 average. I'm sure I have a few settings to tweak to get that hopefully locked down.

I too have RTX 4070 Ti Super. Running everything I own on Godlike with 90fps. Weird that you can't go above high.

i bought the tplink router and returned it for a prismxr pupis s1 and i wont ever go back and its just as much as the fiber optic and the vr bridge 80 bucks and pupis maxes out the q3 2401mbps bandwidth.

Yeah I would think so but I’m not completely sure how the rest of it works like does the virtual desktop client look to that hotspot as a network device or not. If so… I can’t see why it wouldn’t work

You should be doing every optimization possible with an R7 200. But honestly these settings are most focused on making sure whatever your PC is capable of gets over to the headset smoothly.

@@lorenzocorsomusic1308 that really won’t make a difference in this case. Those setting are changing the settings of the game. So if you’re using a browser and set it to 4K then you’re really good to go.
To have 6ghz and 2400 mbps you necessarily need a router with wifi 6e? Because I bought a big router but it's wifi 6 and I only reach 1200 mbps. Before changing it I would like to be sure
@@remi7219 yes it’s the 6e that’s getting it up to 2400mbps , I was using a 6 prior. The 6 is fine but the 6e will be faster and work better in a signal crowded area
What if your using steam vr wireless not connected to a link cable but you do have the 6E router will everything still run smoothly?
@@Zyzomanz yes the connection speed still matters. So using a similar set up with Steam link will give you smooth results as well. I actually am starting to use steam link sometimes because it doesn’t go so hard for resolution like Virtual Desktop does

Separate. It’s JUST for VR/virtual desktop. This set up is beneficial for Steam Link and Air Link too. Nothing else in the house connects to this router.
You can run your isp from the other router over here so you still have internet on the PC

Question, does Virtual Desktop not work with wired link ? - I only use my Q3 with wired link for PCVR sims in the seated position so as it is already wired then it would be far better to have it operate over the wired link. Glad you liked it. I’m 99% sure this set up with the quest app is only for wireless. I’ll double check and if there’s something to share I’ll do a video. There is a classic virtual desktop that I don’t have much experience with. One suggestion if you’re having issues wired… Not all USB C 3.0 performs the same. Your PC could be slowing you down somewhere. Motherboard, graphics card etc. I’m sure you’re aware of these things.

@@TheConstruct_VR Thanks for the reply. I am having no issues at all using wired link, it is excellent. I never have to worry about power or charging as I use the INIU link cable with power input that connects to the Q3 charger hence always a safe 75% - more or less - charge. How are you getting 2400 Mbps ? do you have a 2.5Gb or 10Gb ethernet connection on the PC hooked directly to the router ?. With a 1Gb ethernet you will only ever get a limit of 1000Mb/s. Cheers.
Hmm, in fact it looks as if the router is limited to 1Gb ethernet port so you can never run greater than 1Gb (1000Mbps) that is a quick glance though. So 2500 would not be possible. You may see a connection speed between the router and the Q3 of a certain figure, but that is meaningless unless the data from the pc is being transferred to the router at the same speed . (this is why wired is preferred by all pcvr sim users). Cheers
@@MevRB19 Yeah! You're 100% right. The transmit speeds claimed by TP- Link of 2402 (6ghz) and what you see in Virtual Desktop ( like in the video ) is simply Wifi Transfer Speed. Not the actual speed of the PC to the router as you pointed out. But what I've found is that having the wifi connection speed that high gives a LOT of overhead to keep get the full 1000Mbps without dropping. For example I had an older router that didn't have a 1GB port and while it had 2402 connection speeds the performance was AWFUL, so the combination of the Gigabit port and the over the top wifi speed is what makes this work so well. Also if i go downstairs that 2401 drops to about 1800Mbps but the game still runs buttery smooth.
I'd say give it a shot and see how it compares to your wired set up. To be completely transparent I was so blown away by the performance I didn't look into the numbers as much. Thanks for the insight!

My router is good enough for a solid 866 Mbps on 5Ghz and my laptop with the 4070 in is the only one of 5Ghz as my wifes lappy uses 2.4. Thanks for the heads up. :) . As you say, you have stacks of overhead !. If you are interested in a cable that will give you a great link speed and keep the Q3 charged have a look at the INIU DI-401. I have just been testing 5 different powered link cables and this is one of the best. I have an AMVR cable to test in the next week which has shown great results on static load testing, just needs running on the headset. This also contains intelligent charging like the INIU. Anyways, going off topic a tad lol. I will give the virtual desktop a try for the non link apps as it offs a fantastic amount of options. Thanks again and keep it coming. Great channel !
I would bother with a buying a router, but i don’t know if it’s worth it. My pc is in my bedroom, the main router is downstairs in the living room, buying a new one and placing it in my bedroom i don’t know if it’s gonna make my experience better, i get a decent experience with the wifi extender from my ISP but get about 45 to 60ms latency. Depending on the game i get some noticable microstutters
@@penguinz3091 a router with 6e and playing next to would make a difference. But I understand your set up isn’t ideal unless you want to play in your bedroom. But your microsutters would go away for sure, just depends on how much they bother you. I think I’m getting like 5ms latency.
I have an archer ax21 but nothing seems to change when I use the router and when I’m not the quality dosent get better at all
I have that one too and had to upgrade. The ax21 is WiFi 6 not WiFi 6E. The 6E is much faster and gets me to those higher bitrate limits
I also have a 4070ti super but I tried putting my settings every which way I could but it always ends up running and looking bad (granted I’m not streaming, I play steam vr games)

Unfortunately I dont know if a way to do that while using the general quest UI. Removing the bar only works when running an app. Ggive Fluid a shot. It’s one I showed in the spatial computing video.

@@SamuelProcopio there’s lots of ways actually. The gallery when using the camera app in the general UI is a folder on the headset under a folder called Oculus
There’s a whole android file structure under there. Unfortunately there’s no easy way like on the AVP. You’ll have to use an app like skybox or virtual desktop if you don’t feel like plugging your quest up to a pc.
Then of course there’s always cloud (e.g google photos, one drive etc)

I tried using VD with my wifi 6e router and it looked amazing but every 10 seconds my FPS would drop to 0 and my screen would go black. No clue what the issue was but me and my friend concluded my PC’s motherboard doesn’t support wifi 6e ethernet?
Interesting so you had no problems on the normal WiFi 6 router? It could be your Mobo or something about how your PC is running VDs virtual monitor

I’m not sure I understand. 🤔You will need some sort of router to do wireless PCVR. You don’t need any cable from the wireless router to the headset. The 2060 is doable. I was able to do PCVR gaming on a 980ti

@@johnclisset the network card in your PC could be the culprit. You’ll need a 2.5Gbps card in the PC to get the full speed of a router like one in the video

Your internet doesn’t really impact this. The latency you see is the latency between virtual desktop streamer and your headset. Unless you’re talking about multiplayer, that’s not really a thing here

If it’s in game your location to the server you’re playing in makes a huge difference. Your NAT state (open, closed , double ) google it. So many factors can impact in game multiplayer ping

@@adilawadilaw8248 the differences are super subtle. Lots of times it’s things like the level of antialiasing, ambient occlusion and other things in the game are rendered higher. To be honest I just go with high just to give myself overhead because I can’t tell much difference between them either.
If you look closely at the edge of shadows or how crisp a texture is you may notice. But it’s likely not worth the performance cost

What’s your decision to use 72 fps instead of 120? Is 120 too much?
I just like having overhead and I honestly can’t tell enough difference. 120 works perfectly fine with my hardware as well. But it wasn’t shockingly different. It’s not too much of your hardware can handle it. But if I can handle 120 and run at 72 then I’ll likely not drop any frames at all during gameplay.

@@Zyzomanz try Steam Link (it’s free) first it throttles based on what bandwidth you have. The difference with virtual desktop is that it will try to reach whatever you’ve set it to no matter what… if your network or PC can’t handle it… you get the stutters

AV1 codec is made for low bitrate, its completely useless to use it in high bitrate scenario.

At this time i own a pico4 and its great for pcvr, but i have tougths on buying a quest 3 to also enjoy mixed reallity to program on the way with a lot of big screens. So pico connect has improved a lot over the years and rigth now its even better than vd since it supports ubs natively. Could i use a rj45 adapter to usb to use VD over ethernet, just like i did on my pico when the old app was garbage? I play simracings and for me its vital to reach 300mb or more, also set up a new AP is more annoying and expensive to me than just plug the cable. IDK if anybody has experience on this, thank you, and sry for my bad english xdd.
Question, why not just use a link cable (USB) if you don’t mind being tethered? Maybe Pico doesn’t have this option?
@TheConstruct_VR i tried both tethering and reverse tethering with meh results, very far away for the adapter. Also, there is a known bug in windows ubs driver thad causes BSOD when usb tethering, from my experience in my system will appear the blue scren about 10 minutes at maximum. On the other hand reverse thetering requires a external program like gnherit ( ? Idk how the fuck this program is spelled) and just suck up the performance. Dont know what the experience is in quest 3, but in pico 4, it was very bad

@@DxtrMrgn1 Hey there, I can best show you through videos. But I will say this WiFi 6E and 7 are really the newest WiFi Standards so that’s why routers with these specs are more expensive ( usually more that $100 ) I would save up for a 6E , for your needs it will work fine, no need to get a 7 yet.
What do you need to know? The biggest thing about this is that you can tell your parent/guardian that this router can be JUST for VR to your PC it doesn’t have to interfere with the rest of the house. I may do a “ how to set this up” video soon

Hey, i got the same router for a dedicated connection and a kinda beefy PC (i912900K,32gb RAM @6200mhz and a RTX4090) yet i still got stutters in VD , the performance overlay shows latency and encoding spike up for no reason. Do you know any fix for that? tried sooooooo many settings already, double checked connection and so one. I dont know whats happening, sometimes it even spikes so hard that my PC just restards.
Is your router WiFi 6 or WiFi 6e? I have the baby brother of the router I showed in the video and it’s wifi6 I was using it dedicated and I would completely lag out of a game of onward.
So even though you see the 2401 Mbps on WiFi 6 … for me at least WiFi 6E was COMPLETELY different.
I’m sure everything else I tried you e already seen. If you don’t want to purchase anything give it a crap tone of overhead like set your streaming nitrate to 100 Mbps and inch up until the lag comes back. You’ll see where your limit is. Let me know
So i just realized you said same router. question, what game are you getting lag/choppiness in? And do you get it in every game? I assuming you’re using that 6ghz band but also I noticed that games built in Unity run a bit better. Your PC seems much more powerful than mine so I’m not sure what the hang up is.

I think i set everything up as it was in SteamVR and VD...but for some reason game latency spikes..gotta say graphics on my pico 4 do look more crisp. Its not only ghosts of tabor but every game..even the not so heavy VRCHAT. I'm running amd Rx6800 which is equivalent to a 3080. With ryzen 9 5900hx. But dont think thats the issue. Maybe since the last VD update i should lower from ultra to high with snapdragon? I know they mess with it sometimes in updates. Ill keep tweaking stuff. And with latency i mean spikes from 10ms to 20+- so only going down from 90fps to 75 ish..
@@byroone interesting. It could certainly be VD tweaking things also it could be the runtime or the latest drivers for your card. It all gets a bit hard to chase down. I was going to suggest the speed out of the network port on your Mobo but as you mentioned this wasn’t a problem before. I completely updated my PC so all of my problems went away at once and I could t really track what one thing fixed another.
The fact that it’s every game though lets me know it’s something with VD and your setup for sure. Best of luck, let me know if you find a single culprit

Are you on WiFi 6e? The band definitely makes a difference. The bandwidth of the band allows for the super high bitrate. Make sure you use a router that’s at least WiFi 6 but 6E is how I got my setup to the way it is in this video. And don’t use the 2.4ghz band obviously

Possibly a quest 3 thing. Are you able to connect to the Wifi6E band on quest 2? I didn’t think you could. That higher bitrate may be locked behind that. Not sure.

@@SkullBoyPL it totally works if your hardware is up to par. But I honestly don’t see the difference. The games often don’t run that high anyway. And wirelessly you may still get stutters even with the best set up. I feel like leaving some overhead keeps everything smooth, the extra high frames didn’t seem worth it.

@@SkullBoyPL ah ok. Yeah 90 hz is enough for PC Vr to be honest. Most of the games in the quest are running natively at 90. Resolution and refresh rate are kind of different monsters in VR. You can’t physically move as fast as a mouse.

@SkullBoyPL yeah if you’ve been playing at 360 you’ll notice for sure. Yeah my router works great even outside of virtual desktop the speed benefits spill over to the steam link app as well (although it’s much less stable) The only thing I’d say is… don’t forget that you have normal hiccups on games that aren’t even VR, so if you see a hiccup here or there chances are you would have seen them on flat too, and now your PC is also doing heavy lifting sending the video over to the quest. Some games run better than others with all that going on

All games? Or one specific game? If it’s all games you should figure out how far apart your eyes are. There’s an app (on iOS ) called Eye Measure , it’ll help you figure out your IPD or Interpupillary distance (IPD) is the distance between the center of the pupils. That’s the number you see when you adjust the lenses. I’m a 70 so I have to set mine to max.
Other than that make sure your headset is lower enough your nose should be pretty much covered so your eyes are in the center of the lenses.

Meh I tried the AX75 and it was noticeably worse than my Asus RX-82U running a 160mhz band
@@thefreemarketeer765 yeah I can see that for the AX75 but I was mentioning the AXE75 here, … regardless no doubt the 160mhz band was great given interference was low. 👍. Most people are using far sub par network configs. Paying attention to bandwidth works wonders.

@@TSRwinter it can work you just won’t get the best performance. From it. The frame drops or choppiness you. Ay experience will likely be from the network congestion of the 2.4ghz band and the lack of speed in it.

@ I’ve been messing with settings for an hour or so today with half life alyx and tbh between high uktra and godlike, h264+ at 386mb bandwidth and 200mb bandwidth with the quest 3 codec… it all looked the same to me 🤣 so I think I’ll take your advice and save some headroom and go easy on my pc

Its frustrating that trillion dollar software companies make Garbage bad enough that everyone has to go buy some code from a guy in his garage. Its as if a Company get so big it becomes like a government agency filled with losers who want a paycheck but hate to have to do any work for it.
It is frustrating that the meta link or meta air link has less performance / resolution than something like. Virtual desktop. I think streaming PC games just isn’t a big enough priority, what they have in place works and it’s free. From their perspective , the task is done ( just my opinion). Virtual Desktop has gone the extra mile to fine tune that experience. I don’t think Meta can’t , it’s just not a big enough blip on the radar.

I wish you understood more. Synchronous spacewarp is frame generation. if you have it as ALWAYS ON it forces your gpu to never render more than half your frame rate. if you have it at automatic, it turns on and off as you need. YES it creates warping artifacts. but if a game can only do 45 fps, you will get 90 fps. Which can GREATLY reduce motion sickness. Please don't misinform users. Fortunately for you the 4070 ti super rarely needs SSW
I never said it wasn’t effective for what its purpose I just don’t like using it because of the warping. I was on an old 980ti and still didn’t use it. @@dswan8733 i guess that depends on the hardware and the game. If i want to play No Man's Sky on my RTX 3070 Laptop i need to use SSW, since the game cannot even get up to 50fps on that machine at the lowest settings.Yes, you can see warping, but in No Man's Sky i got used to it and it does not bother me at all. But even on my RTX 4070 PC i use SSW sometimes to run games at 120Hz. So i am very happy that SSW exists, but i understand that some people can't stand it.

What type of router are you using? You at least need to be on a WiFi 6. 5ghz band Preferably 6E. Also are you standing close to the router?
