Meet our new project car, it's an 8th generation Civic coupe and it's going to be the engine swap test bed for Hasport. Honda sold over a million R18 powered Civics and there are a TON of them available for a low price since they don't carry the cache of the Si models. The first engine swap is the K series.

For now im using ebay si race mounts until hasport finish the r18 to k-series mounts, i got the r18 subframe aside so i can use power steering, i go have the electric steering rack and installed with si subframe

Ive done this swap twice and Just wanted to say about in regards to the power steering the fd2 civic in Japan comes with hydraulic system. So I used rsx type s pump and custom high pressure line on the stock rack. With the second one I did I used the fd2 high pressure line on the same pump and works great.
Same pump? You mean RSX?
@@VTECAcademy yes, sorry I meant that I used the rsx pump on both swaps just one used a custom line and the second i used the oem fd2 line on the rsx pump. They're not identical pumps, but the lines go in at the same location. I learned after that the fd2 uses an accord style pump so the 2003 accord pump and accord line combo might work without issues. I was also thinking of maybe trying an eg k swap power steering kit on a rsx pump/accord pump to see if that would work also , but haven't had a chance to test them out yet.
Did you reuse the r18 tranny for the k series?

I've got a euro civic fn1 with the L13 engine a k24 swap will be ideal for the chassis!

8th gen si’s have that front mount. With the stiffer mounts do you think the front will be necessary. Anyway the r18 front portion of the subframe don’t have the bracket welded on to it for a front mount of the motor.
Use an SI wire harness with an SI gauge cluster and SI ECU .. that way you can run the electronic steering
Other than the EPS warning light, I'm not sure the cluster is necessary. Have you looked into the wiring to see what it does? I would think there is also an EPS brain box. But I haven't looked at all the details yet.

You would need to add the 06 Civic Si oil pan and a modified 06 Civic oil pump.
And why hasn't anybody made Mounts to swap in a Vigor 5 cylinder into a Integra or civic always like the sound of that engine
dude the vigor engine so wildly overlooked it's not even funny.. I wanna see that engine more
Did you know the Vigor engine was supposed to go in the original S2000? It's too wide to fit in the Integra with any of the FWD transmissions. RWD swaps are rare and I just don't see the value in that much fabrication for an unsupported engine.

Like your Channel, why doesn't anybody build r18 engines they do have engine girdle, piston oil squirters, GSR type-r bore and stroke
Man i been actually wondering why the R series gets no support.
The rods are very thin. There are aftermarket ones available but the K makes so much more power effortlessly. Plus the K outnumbers the R by 2 to one.
Simple because the K series exists.

I was thinking this long ago and just end up selling my 9th gen with r18 figured out that the price and labor is close to a complete 9th gen si Coupe
Prior to pandemic, you can find 2012 civic si coupe for $6000-6500 cad.

A swap is definitely not $10k, thinking of doing it on mine, should be $4K max with all the parts and labor

I've got a 2012 civic LX manual if you ever need to proto something with that chassis. I'm kinda far away but I have two weeks of vacation I can use.

It will be a lot easier to just buy a real si, I get the weight savings stuff but the si has better reinforcements in the suspension and subframe.
Other than the engine subframe which can be had for $150-250 I'm not sure that there is much more stiffness.
yeah stop telling people to just get an si 😂 why drop 14k on todays market when you can get a 2009 civic for 1k-1.5k then get the rest of the swap for 1.5k-2.5k depending on where you source your parts from 😂 all together your looking at maybe around 4k-5.5k for a car that more than likely will out preform an si 🤣💀

Would it work the same way on a hybrid civic 8th gen? Would be interesting to know as there are loads of hybrids in the uk and it sounds like a cheap k swap chassis
Looking for info on a Honda 1.8L R18A/R18Z Engine conn rod & main bearing code.
Anyone have idea where it would be stamped on the block or maybe on main bearing bridle?
I have a 07 Civic DX & am dropping in a 2010 1.8L due the OEM Manufacturing problem of Poor Casting Issues on the 2006-08 & early 2009"s Civics with 1.8L in them, which leads to leaking Coolant.
I wanting to do a bearing roll-in before I drop in the 2010 1.8L engine into my car.

The mount kit Hasport is developing will work. You will need the 02-11 Si oil pan and oil pump though.

The oil pan and oil pump. You'd need a modified 06-11 Si oil pump or get a JDM CTR pump from the FD2.

yeah after my research i think im gonna go with a k20a build , k24 would be ideal but for someone who hasn’t done a swap yet the k24 sounds like it’d be more of a headache to make happen without all the proper resources on hand , k20 however seem like plug and play for the most part , obviously still need si parts but as far as making personal modification to make the parts work together it’s little to none compared to the k24 🎉

That is the next video. I did use an Si charge harness with a modification.

Hello ! I have a 2006 Honda Civic EX and I have a 06 Honda CRV- SE AWD with the K-series I would like to swap the crv engine into the civic. Is this possible?
Would the stock 5 speed manual transmission that comes with r18 fit the k20z3?
Not without an adapter plate and custom flywheel of clutch.

It's going to vary depending on if you do the work, or someone else. Also the engines prices can vary widely.
Can you retain hydraulic power steering rack and pump on a k20 in a 06-11 civic. Is there enough space?

Why not just use the k20 from 8th gen si? Wouldn't that all just plug n play?
Couple of things. The K20A Type R engine we have comes from an 8th Gen Civic in Japan. And like the US K20Z3 it isn't plug and play. The mounts are different and the wiring is different. That is why we are showing this.
Do R18 8th gen civics have VTEC, or no?
The vtec is similar to the 96-00 EX.

They work to put a k in the FG1.

How much to swap my engine, I have an R18.
Is the process the same for sedans? I know the rad is orientated different on sedans to coupes so didn't know if there was more I was missing in this. Otherwise great video
Yes it can. I just bought a sedan to look at the differences, but they don't look like it matters.
Do you have to swap the tranny too in order to match the power?
You have to use a K series transmission.

No, this will not.

Yes, but you’ll need the Z3 oil pump and pan.

Hello Brian. I have recently swapped a K24 into an 8th Gen SI. Just like many people, i am running the Skunk2 Alpha header and ran into the clearance issue with the header hitting the bottom of the firewall. I made a quick solution with spacing the rear mount out with some thick washers. Take a look th-cam.com/video/O_gsjBquhTo/w-d-xo.html I was wondering if you had a solution for this? Maybe you can make a bracket that will bolt right up against the oil pan to prevent this problem for others who are swapping K24 blocks into their 8th gens? Thanks
The correct solution would be to make a new header. doing any sort of mount change would change the angle of the engine. That isn'g horrible, but it isn't ideal.

Man this audio is terrible. The guys with the best content always have the worst production quality and vice versa
The problem is we are in a working shop that had a CNC mill running in the background all the time making products for sale. I've always said, if it were for the customers, things would be much easier. But then that has other problems.
Sell Civic, buy Accord it already has K series.
That is another solution. But the Accord only has 160 HP, and it weighs more!
