Hey Lucky idk who you are just found this vid 2 days ago, but Thank you. seriously. cheap build, I completed my first solo uber today because of your guide. first uber ever even though I've played 16 years ago or so. keep up the gg work.
In life, there are expensive ways and cheap ways of doing everything. While the results shown in this video were relatively impressive, the hardware required is not what I consider "cheap", since it requires many specific set and unique items that may be hard for someone genuinely playing as single player (ex: without trading for gear). The key stats for success are: high crushing blow %, high increased attack speed (IAS), cannot be frozen (CBF), and enough resistance to reach 75% all resistance after dealing with Mephisto's conviction aura. A more legitimately cheap build may include: 6 socket phase blade (base weapon speed -30) with 6x Shael runes for 120% IAS, "Rhyme" shield (rune word "ShaelEth") with provides cannot be frozen (built in a 2 socket elite paladin shield using the horadric cube to add sockets to white shields) with as high all resistance base attribute as one can find, some crafted "blood" gloves (Nef + Heavy/Sharkskin/Vampirebone magic gloves + perfect ruby + junk jewel) for 5-10% crushing blow (with possible 10% or 20% IAS as well, if you are lucky), "Goblin Toe" unique boots (which provides 25% crushing blow) and seem to be very easy to find by oneself, "Rattlecage" unique armor providing 25% crushing blow (also low level and pretty easy to find). Then, on the weapon switch one can equip either a bone wand with life tap charges, or, one can build the "Lawbringer" runeword (ideally in a 3 socket phase blade, using Amn + Lem + Ko runes), which has 20% chance to cast decrepify on attack (which also works with smite) and Sanctuary aura that stuns and knocks back the undead in the Uber Tristram area. If you prefer decripify over life tap, the idea is you initially smite a few times using the Lawbringer sword to get decripfy to cast, then weapon switch to your 6x Shael phase blade for faster subsquent smite speed. Alternatively, one can theoretically instead use the "weaken" charges in the Smoke runeword armor (NefLum) to lower physical damage output from the ubers. To counter Mephisto's conviction aura, one can either stack lots of surplus all resistance (ex: by using "Fade" provided by Treachery armor (ShaelThulLem) plus salvation aura), or, one can overpower Mephisto's aura altogether using your own higher level conviction aura. To do this, you need level 21 or higher conviction, which can be accomplished by investing 20 hard points into conviction and having one or more +skill item (ex: a basic amulet or "Lore" helmet using Ort + Sol). If doing this, be careful to enable it on both weapon switches prior to engaging Mephisto, since in addition to being higher level, your aura must also be enabled and stay enabled continuously, prior to coming in range of Mephisto, in order to successfully overpower his aura. It is also possible to make an extreme budget build that doesn't require any unique or set items at all. To do so, remove the Goblin Toe boots and the Rattlecage armor, and replace the 6x Shael phase blade with a 3 socket "Black" rune word flail (Thul + Io + Nef, built in a 3 socket flail purchased from Act 2 Fara in normal difficulty mode) for 40% crushing blow and some minor IAS. Then use the "Treachery" armor's +45% IAS (and ideally some +20% IAS crafted blood gloves) to bring IAS up to a reasonable level for success. The Treachery armor also isn't 100% essential, if one can successfully find two or more +15% IAS jewels to put in a common 3 socket helmet (and then rely on level 21 or higher conviction to override Mephisto's conviction aura). Also, prior to entering uber Tristram, chug lots of thawing and antidote potions (as drinking multiple at the same time increases the duration of the effect, while increasing your poisen and cold resistances slightly above 75% for a time). Such a build can achieve around 45-50% chance of crushing blow with at least +40% IAS, which is marginal, but generally still adequate in my experience, assuming one does have cannot be frozen (from the Rhyme shield) and at least 75% all resistance.
That's a budget gear in video. All shown gear can be bought for 2 Ist+2 Mal+5 Lem/Pul which is no more than Vex in total value. Considering torches value it's very cheap.
Great guide that works for hardcore too! You can go even cheaper with Rhyme shield and no Raven if you want, and Black instead of HL. Overcap is nice but not strictly necessary. For HC, having a buddy or second account BO you makes it a million times easier.
I love how you said that this build is strong enough to handle both Diablo and Baal, it was my first time doing this and I had to fight them both at the same time.....I was super stressed but I made it without dying! Barb torch 18 res 15 atr :D Ty!
Nice video but you forgot to show what shield you used which is pretty key for a paladin shield smiter build. Decent budget build! Most of those items i have found in free games or were given to me so not hard to find or get. The hardest one to get from this is probably the Dracul's Gloves as those have some trade value to it.
this gear is maybe budget in multiplayer, but in single player it is pretty hard to find Dracul's Grasp, Gore Rider and GFace. And the amulet and shield are also pretty strong.
Whoa, this was really great! Thanks for vid. I play hardcore though so will probably gear up a bit more before heading in, your play style gave me anxiety but I'm sure is reasonable for softcore.
This video earned my sub. I just walked into ubers for the first time with my own key sets that I farmed with gear I grinded for myself. I felt confident to do it after all the build up. Finally slayed that childhood demon! 15-12 P torch. Also just found a ber rune in arcane super chests while public cs went. I'm too excited to not say something so it may as well be here ay.
no such thing as earnx or sx or firstx or confix or dx or excitx tox etc, cepuxuax, say, can say any nmw and any s perfx, and any infix confix any nmw, doesnt matter
Little tip. Can use vampgaze instead of gface for mana leech. For all the times you die because mana burn and waiting for mana pots to tick. Thats what i use for my gfg uberdin. Works on budget too. You dont really need gface if you alredy have enough cb. Which any smiter set usually has enough of anyways
Duuuude! Thank you so much! Just did my first Ubers ever. Had a played through a Pala as Hammerdin to lvl 86. Then I played a Soso to lvl 89 for farming - resetted the Pala to Smiter according to the common guides. Grinded for the equip, traded some stuff, in the end I had all the stuff and started the ubers. It took me 45min (one death due to minions, get blocked and not able to switch to Teleport fast enough and one death due to Mephisto getting stuck in the burning ruin in Tristram and not getting out of it - killed him there but then sudden death from 1200 health to zero, idk what happened, but took a while to rescue my body with my merc and all the minions of meph around the portal) - in the end the bosses were very comfy to kill, and I finally got a torch: +3 Sorc, 19/15 (19res). So much endorphins

Great vid! Im setting up my own uber smiter for the first time and wanted to see someone do it on a budget build. I have almost exactly the same setup but using redeemer as weapon and then duress for chest.
This is embarrassing for me but I haven't even done my first Uber on my 89 Paladin. Next thing on my list now. Thanks for Sharing, I should have no issues doing it.
I don't know if this is "budget". Sure, it's not BiS, but this (short of the wep maybe) is a super solid and reliable set of equipment for doing ubers, and some of it isn't exactly common every-day drops. Llama has an ubers video where he does it in a "loadout" you'd expect to see on a level 20 character. THAT was budget. No dracs no gores no tgods no gface, etc. I don't really consider just anything that isn't BiS to be budget. BiS is nothing but obnoxiously expensive unnecessary overkill. This is just a standard Smiter setup. Not budget, not BiS, just standard.
No way this is budget. In the beginning he even has a torch already in the inventory. Which magically disappeared in the end...... Also boots, helm, weapon, gloves and belt are no freaking way budget. I would even call that good Solo UBERs gear and iam a noob who just tried the first time ever for the mini uber first.....
Nothing here is budget. These are literally BiS even for a frenzy barb. Even your weapon is not budget. Here are actual budget options: Dracule > bloodfist for the fhr to hit 86% bp Weapon > black Highlords > cat’s eye Gore rider > goblin toe Belt > crafted belt with 10% open wounds G-face and raven frost are required for all smiter options
@@VFPro_ I just downed my ubers with the gear I wrote down. I had a +40 all res 4os shield with 4 P diamonds in it and a 6% open wound crafted belt instead of 10%. I wiped once on lilith because I forgot to reapply life tap. The point of budget is NOT to get BiS. Cat's eye can be a little rare too and if you can't find one you simply use a 20% ias glove instead. You won't hit 86% fhr bp though.
@@VFPro_ You mean swapping out the weapon for a last wish phase blade? Which items would you replace for a GG smiter? Every single item he listed except for maybe the weapon is highly sought after and used, even smoke. He even has a torch to help with resist. I smited my ubers without a torch and still hit resist cap just using the above + salvation.

Watched this, had very similar gear to say the least. Did my first 3 ubers today with a friend (Him being sorc, TP:ing to locate bosses) had som struggles but got it down. Was rewarded with a 20/19 Pala, and a 17/15 Baba torch, my friend got a 14/13 Amazon torch, sadly. Awesome video
I made a pally just to try this and while this method definitely works to take down the bosses, there are some issues. First, Lilith and Izzy are not alone like shown on this video, they are usually with pack of mobs and you need to lure them out. Even then it's tough to fight them alone and you'll likely be killed many times during the process. I ended up clearing some of the mobs with my sorc before taking the bosses with my pally. Duriel was the easiest as there were no other added mobs. Second, the damage you take from Lilith and Meph are far more than shown on the video. I had 1.2K HP, 15% life leech with max res using SS, but my life was draining faster than I can heal, ended up using a lot of full rej potions, maybe stacking up on FHR charms will work better? The Uber tristram was on point, it was way easier than taking down Lilith and Izzy. Any case, I did get my first torch but it ended up being a Druid charm which it was a let down. Spent over a week to farm the 9 keys and I don't feel like doing that again lol.
@@LuckyLuciano6 Since the boss spawn locations are random, I am assuming they can either spawn where they are alone or spawn with bunch of mobs around. I am just saying what my experience was and wanted to warn people who are trying this, but your methods are on point, no doubt about that.
15% life leech does not help at all when u are facing bosses cause of penalty at hell difficulty. As u can see in this video u will need life tap and fade proc to survive without full rej potions. Just make sure u got fade before entering tristram and buy life tap wand from malah/akara. Hope it will helps.
@@_stay_frosty Oh I am using life tap and proc fade in a4, it's gotten easier now since I've done it multiple times, but Lilith and Meph still gets me sometimes.
Awesome build but how do you manage that there is nearly no minion arround? Even if i get Mephisto separated Iam always surrounded by a ton of minions poisoning and freezing me all the time. Is there a Trick to get rid of them?
Nice video! I play offline and found a 15 ias / 39 ed jewel and was thinking about putting it in my gface. Would it be wasted on a smiter? Or is it better on a merc? OR on a mercs eth reapers (if I find one)? Thanks!
Erm. Zaka is like an ist. So just run that if you can't afford an exile. I'm too poor for that too. But I have a grief, it's a LO and Mal rune. At the end of a ladder season you can literally sell keys and ral runes for ists. You can get a grief and zaka really easy. Ber rune is still quite expensive for chain of honours though.

I don't get it... Duriel was easy , then izual was impossible to reach. Getting one-shot by all monsters , unable to have the milliseconds to teleport , can't run next to them.... Same exact gear
question, i see you have all those points in fire res aura, light res aura, and 1 in salvation, but i dont actually see you use those auras at all during the fights? Only fanaticism/vigor. When would you use those?
Just want to add **with a danger disclaimer** if you die and can't get body back, leave and rejoin. Then make them pay for it. The servers are solid now and stay up several minutes in my experience.
i miss it, or did you just not touch on the shield? i would assume spirit. *edit, just caught you mousing over it while going over skills.. does the shield base (smite damage on shield) actually matter? currently have a crown shield with like 32 all res.. have a sacred rondache with more smite damage, but only 23 all res.
so weird to me how powerful smite is. I dont even understand it. my barb takes like 20 mins to clear out each red portal and cant even do trist itself and hes pretty geared with duress, oath, highlords,gores, dracs, torch
I mainly play a hammerdin. i just only have 1 point for fanaticism, 1 point in smite and 11 points in my holy shield. is it okay? im lvl 89 and i have pally torch maras herald of zakarum black ears belt goblin toe g face draculs raven frost and dwarf star. is it okay for running uber tristram? i just started to play this game seriously when d2r release so i have no idea if im good to go

Been trying to solo ubers but Mephisto 2 shots me and I have almost the exact same build as you except I have Butcher's Pupil for my weapon. Not sure what's going on.

I dont know the IAS, but I can tell you that guardian angel isnt good because it gives you MAX res, and for mephis you need overall resist for his conviction aura , and resis in general if you have a budget build
What kind of upgrades to this setup are needed to be able to do this with low level smite and fanatism? seen many vids of hammerdins with 1 point in those skills (and + all skills) killing ubers. tried so today and failed miserably. luckily i prepared a respecc token and was able to go full smiter without leaving the game. my gear looked kinda like yours except black for weapon and my lucky zaka drop as a shield.
This gear could clear ubers with 1 lvl smite and fanat. I max them out for clear speed and this is a dedicated smiter. If you're using a HoZ I recommend upgrading it for additional smite damage, this will increase your clear speed and the amount of life you're receiving back from smites with life tap up.

Going sorc first helps a lot. You can literally solo farm that gear in a day or two, killing hell meph once every 2 minutes.

If you want to proc fade, go to the river of flame WP and stand in the fire right beside Hadriel. It may take a while but it will eventually kick in.

Arcane super chests are the ones at the end of a dead-end? I don't usually get good stuff from them are they supposed to have good rune drops?

Mana leech does not work with smite. Good option for zeal though

I was getting 1 spotted by meph also. I found out to use resist lightning and he doesn't take me down half way anymore. Now sure if ur using that also

You can safely proc fade by going just outside Harrogath and stand in the fire. Or, there's a fire right next to River of Flame waypoint.

@@VFPro_ I just downed my ubers with the gear I wrote down. I had a +40 all res 4os shield with 4 P diamonds in it and a 6% open wound crafted belt instead of 10%. I wiped once on lilith because I forgot to reapply life tap. The point of budget is NOT to get BiS. Cat's eye can be a little rare too and if you can't find one you simply use a 20% ias glove instead. You won't hit 86% fhr bp though.
@@VFPro_ You mean swapping out the weapon for a last wish phase blade? Which items would you replace for a GG smiter? Every single item he listed except for maybe the weapon is highly sought after and used, even smoke. He even has a torch to help with resist. I smited my ubers without a torch and still hit resist cap just using the above + salvation.

@@joshblah9000 I smited my ubers with a 6% so I don't think the % really matters but 10% is the max roll on open wounds. You can craft it yourself.

Black runeword is a great option. Put it in a 3os flail. You can shop the flail from fara in act 2 normal

Watched this, had very similar gear to say the least. Did my first 3 ubers today with a friend (Him being sorc, TP:ing to locate bosses) had som struggles but got it down. Was rewarded with a 20/19 Pala, and a 17/15 Baba torch, my friend got a 14/13 Amazon torch, sadly. Awesome video

I made a pally just to try this and while this method definitely works to take down the bosses, there are some issues. First, Lilith and Izzy are not alone like shown on this video, they are usually with pack of mobs and you need to lure them out. Even then it's tough to fight them alone and you'll likely be killed many times during the process. I ended up clearing some of the mobs with my sorc before taking the bosses with my pally. Duriel was the easiest as there were no other added mobs. Second, the damage you take from Lilith and Meph are far more than shown on the video. I had 1.2K HP, 15% life leech with max res using SS, but my life was draining faster than I can heal, ended up using a lot of full rej potions, maybe stacking up on FHR charms will work better? The Uber tristram was on point, it was way easier than taking down Lilith and Izzy. Any case, I did get my first torch but it ended up being a Druid charm which it was a let down. Spent over a week to farm the 9 keys and I don't feel like doing that again lol.

@@LuckyLuciano6 Since the boss spawn locations are random, I am assuming they can either spawn where they are alone or spawn with bunch of mobs around. I am just saying what my experience was and wanted to warn people who are trying this, but your methods are on point, no doubt about that.
15% life leech does not help at all when u are facing bosses cause of penalty at hell difficulty. As u can see in this video u will need life tap and fade proc to survive without full rej potions. Just make sure u got fade before entering tristram and buy life tap wand from malah/akara. Hope it will helps.
@@_stay_frosty Oh I am using life tap and proc fade in a4, it's gotten easier now since I've done it multiple times, but Lilith and Meph still gets me sometimes.

Awesome build but how do you manage that there is nearly no minion arround? Even if i get Mephisto separated Iam always surrounded by a ton of minions poisoning and freezing me all the time. Is there a Trick to get rid of them?

Erm. Zaka is like an ist. So just run that if you can't afford an exile. I'm too poor for that too.
But I have a grief, it's a LO and Mal rune. At the end of a ladder season you can literally sell keys and ral runes for ists.
You can get a grief and zaka really easy.
Ber rune is still quite expensive for chain of honours though.

Why? Just activate your buffs next to your stash before swapping to the teleport staff.

You can do with crush flange and goblin toes. Res plus fenatisism. Good to go also there are three pally weapons with crushing blow.
Why you invest 20 skill points in smite? That isnt source or smiter dmg so we can put that points in other skill or im wrong??

I don't get it... Duriel was easy , then izual was impossible to reach. Getting one-shot by all monsters , unable to have the milliseconds to teleport , can't run next to them.... Same exact gear

question, i see you have all those points in fire res aura, light res aura, and 1 in salvation, but i dont actually see you use those auras at all during the fights? Only fanaticism/vigor. When would you use those?
Light and res give passive max res without being active. Salvation can be used in mephisto if you don't have fade proc

Just want to add **with a danger disclaimer** if you die and can't get body back, leave and rejoin. Then make them pay for it. The servers are solid now and stay up several minutes in my experience.

i miss it, or did you just not touch on the shield? i would assume spirit. *edit, just caught you mousing over it while going over skills.. does the shield base (smite damage on shield) actually matter? currently have a crown shield with like 32 all res.. have a sacred rondache with more smite damage, but only 23 all res.
The damage scales a bit. For the cost of 9 res I'd probably upgrade but maybe you can find a higher res elite base.

Hey, Lucky. Asking about your modifications to this build. Did you put a few points into Divine Hammer to give yourself extra clearing speed? Interested in theory crafting.
This build shouldn't rely on hammers. Only as a pre-requisite for holy shield
Been trying to solo ubers but Mephisto 2 shots me and I have almost the exact same build as you except I have Butcher's Pupil for my weapon. Not sure what's going on.

How much IAS do you need? And is Guardian Angel good instead of the smoke runeword to swap?
I dont know the IAS, but I can tell you that guardian angel isnt good because it gives you MAX res, and for mephis you need overall resist for his conviction aura , and resis in general if you have a budget build

What kind of upgrades to this setup are needed to be able to do this with low level smite and fanatism? seen many vids of hammerdins with 1 point in those skills (and + all skills) killing ubers. tried so today and failed miserably. luckily i prepared a respecc token and was able to go full smiter without leaving the game. my gear looked kinda like yours except black for weapon and my lucky zaka drop as a shield.
Asking because getting 2 respeccs ( into smiter and back inti hammerdin) for every uber sessions is hella annoying
This gear could clear ubers with 1 lvl smite and fanat. I max them out for clear speed and this is a dedicated smiter. If you're using a HoZ I recommend upgrading it for additional smite damage, this will increase your clear speed and the amount of life you're receiving back from smites with life tap up.
