(and no, high dmg per strike isn't equal, life steal that heals you much more than you get dmg'ed would be equal! - or having enemys get the same amount of dmg automaticly - but you srsly traded getting auto dmg for just an overpowered weapon you really don't need with all the dmg you already literally spit out! - but you rather blame the ghost that you accidentally took *friendly facepalm* (it's not like you decided to took that useless ghost, but you decided to take that scythe xP)
One of the reasons this game is so good is that you can see all of your stats and know exactly what each item does. A lot of roguelites will give you items and buffs with completely esoteric descriptions, meaning you just have to guess what they do. In my opinion, that's what makes games like Brotato and vampire survivors so replayable. Not to mention, this game has a ton of cool mods and a very strong community.

@@limesta If you happen to be some kind of superhuman genius, this bullet-heaven/arena battler space needs something akin to the programmable weapon crafting from Bio-Prototype that doesn't immediately result in the player defeating everything the game can throw at them immediately upon spawn. B-P is neat, but I'm not sure that an experienced player is ever challenged in that game for more then 5 waves or so. The reason that I specified superhuman genius is that AFAICT any system that rewards forethought in weapons design will be exploitable for megadamage. If you can develop an open-ended weapon crafting system that works, the world will beat a path to your Steam page. Also, Spiff will find a way to exploit it anyway.

Right now I've just about finished tuning all of the physics off stream, and now I'm getting into UX testing, before I go full ham into the weapons system. I agree though, it seems all rouge-lites esp bullet heavens that aren't RNG heavy are exploitable with some amount of forethought and a lick of luck, and to compensate, they add unique characters that just add a little spice in the early game, to inevitably be out crafted and overtaken with the same foresight used with the other characters.

I enjoy this game for the sole reason that the rounds last like a minute. I get like 20 minutes a night at best to game and brotato is one of the few I can play to get the best value of that time.
Reminds me of the video where a dude plays chess against an AI programmed to make the worst possible move, he maxes out the score difference by making every pawn a queen, and then forces the bot to check mate him because losing is winning.
reminds me of a silly "fox trot" comic: the Father of the family, Roger Fox, is SUCH a lousy chess player, that even when Jason modded the game to give him 15 queens and the computer 15 pawns, Roger STILL lost! oh, that also reminds me of a Star Trek novel, "the final reflection", where they were playing a chess-like game in a weird style where there is only ONE set of pieces, nad players take turns moving the SAME set! so to win, you have to make the opponent "check" you, so that you capture the king on your turn!

You should do a video on Risk of Rain 1 or 2. They both run on a similar concept to Brotato, so you can likely find plenty of perfectly balanced mechanics for you to enjoy.

Heyheyhey thats my exploit! Thanks for making a video on it, also glad to see it works on the PC version aswell. After some further testing: Stat linking items such as the red glove also work with this exploit. Even some uniques such as the extra stomach work. I had a run where i got 12 hp for every fruit i picked up while at max HP. Also this turns little elephant and cyber ball into the most broken items for they scale off luck, which you can boost into high heavens with dublicating the lucky coin using the exploit.
I'm surprised he came back to this one, after it somehow reached out and destroyed his keyboard, and worse yet, made him waste precious TEA! So precious, more valuable than gold.
I think the Brotato: Premium for mobile, which is based off the steam version has been patched as its not working, I think it could be due to it getting updated regularly with holiday events, as I also own the switch version, and that version doesn't have holiday events and it does indeed work
Because he only recycles publicly known exploits? I don't think I've ever seen him really find an exploit himself, he only researches the existing ones and then makes videos about them. First point where I noticed that is with Elden Ring where he killed the Elder Dragon with Bleed weeks after that was a known thing and made it seem like he found it out himself
The first two shops always provide 2 weapons each time you reroll. The game tends to offer you weapons you already have. So you should always focus on getting 6 weapons early game, and not buy items until the wave 3 shop.
Weapons have a 50% chance to be of a weapon class you already have. Pruner only has the support class, so there was a 50% chance the weapons offered would be pruners. There are not that many support weapons - hand, potato thrower, pruner
I was almost screaming at my screen on that ghost death, because roughly the same has happened to me when playing with Mr. Sicky Wicky over there in the corner
Install the Supermarket mod so your run is not up to RNGsus. Be the Bull. Buy some Vigilante rings and AOE expansions. And an HP-drain item of your choice. Also advised to buy metal detectors and the money collection ring thing. You can literally go AFK indefinitely and the map will clear itself every second, you pick up all loot, and keep growing stronger.
Here’s a list of items that make this strategy horrifically overpowered because they stack (none were used by Spiff) Bloody hand (the damage per second doesn’t stay) Retromations hoodie Lucky coin Strange book Power generator Grinds magical leaf Vigilante ring I found all of these through my own runs
it's crazy how much things would've escalated if he backed out from the game repeatedly early on and got the Piggy Bank (+20% of ur materials at the start of next wave until wave 20) and the Lucky Coin (+2 luck for each 1% perma crit chance increase). Later on, combined with items that give stats every round like Grind's Magic Leaf (+3 max hp, +1 hp regen + 1% lifesteal) and Vigilante Ring (+3% dmg), the game goes batshit crazy. Even on max difficulty u can absolutely kill it
I'm pretty sure this only applied for specific things, a lot of those are just direct stat increases the exploit is for items from crates that actually spawn in different things/initiate new mechanics, as adding a turret or whatever isn't a stat that can be subtracted off

Just as the "extra stomache", which spiff stacked unknowingly in this video. And if you want this to be easy, dont be shy to play normal untill wave 20 and just farm the boss crates for guarantee powerful items.

I think that's the first Brotato video Spiff did where he actually exploited the game, instead of just playing a decent build and declaring that it's broken and overpowered. And what an exploit it is, ooooh boy.
I was screaming in my head "the scythe!!! Get rid of the scythe!!!" Then spiff continued, thinking he had another exploit to counteract that, but nope 😂
As someone who played this game a lot at danger 5 I can only look at the screen in horror seeing spiff with -1 armor 6 dodge and -9 speed at the end of Wave 14. At least he increased it a lot in the shops after that.
So…where’s the part where you go afk and beat 100 waves? You looked pretty active in all the footage shown, and you only hit wave 30. Did the 100 waves you went afk for not get included?
Not sure how it happened or how you missed it, but look at the ending screen.. it clearly says "Run won", as opposed to when you lose a game and it says "Run lost"...
The exploit is even stronger than really shown in the video as items that give passive buffs such as the power generator still give them after the reset meaning that you can have multiple of them. And things that raise stats at the end of the round also work(expect the crown). Meaning you can have the strongest unique items with an endless supply.

It wasn't the endless pursuit of power that made Spiff a real Brotato player, it was being killed by the ghost.

The real exploit is how did you get a full set of the exact weapon you needed by wave 5? I always get stuck with garbage weapon choices.
harvesting provides extra revenue and is very powerful in the early waves to complete sets of common weapons.
there is a mechanic that makes getting the same weapon you already have more common so if you want a specific weapon don't pick up other weapons

A little hit for this exploit. Stat linking items like the lucky coin (+2 luck for each 1% crit) can be stacked with this exploit even tho it is "unique".
Just as the "extra stomache", which spiff stacked unknowingly in this video.
And if you want this to be easy, dont be shy to play normal untill wave 20 and just farm the boss crates for guarantee powerful items.

I am watching this video 4 months in the future and the Brotato game has not had a patch since before Spiff played it.

Why aren’t you doing this with explorer? They start off with like 12 in the trees stat, so would very likely get more crates with more trees
I think that's the first Brotato video Spiff did where he actually exploited the game, instead of just playing a decent build and declaring that it's broken and overpowered. And what an exploit it is, ooooh boy.

As someone who played this game a lot at danger 5 I can only look at the screen in horror seeing spiff with -1 armor 6 dodge and -9 speed at the end of Wave 14.
At least he increased it a lot in the shops after that.

Spiff you should consider doing this again with the character that gets benefit for standing still (they get interest every second).
So…where’s the part where you go afk and beat 100 waves? You looked pretty active in all the footage shown, and you only hit wave 30. Did the 100 waves you went afk for not get included?

Not sure how it happened or how you missed it, but look at the ending screen.. it clearly says "Run won", as opposed to when you lose a game and it says "Run lost"...
Basically this was a thanos run, it was only spiffs overconfidence and ego that beat him. Amazing stuff 😄
The exploit is even stronger than really shown in the video as items that give passive buffs such as the power generator still give them after the reset meaning that you can have multiple of them. And things that raise stats at the end of the round also work(expect the crown). Meaning you can have the strongest unique items with an endless supply.
Infinite tea is the only reward I will accept.
This is a fantastic lesson: Exploits are all fun and games but don’t for get to play the a little or else a ghost will take ya down
