Here in Philadelphia at Sang Kee on 9th street, are you ready? On their menu: plain congee $8; chicken congee $11 ; thousand yr egg & pork $11 ; roast duck congee $12 and fish fillet congee $12 !!!! That's really high !! Holy price tag! Have a great week!!
Happy Monday Flo and Dude! Another rainy day here in NY😬 prefect day for congee . I love the century old egg 😋. Thanks for sharing Flo! Have a great week ❤
love Congee. It's my every morning breakfast meal because its known to be healing comfort food. Poor working class citizens from China would rely on this to get by back in the day too. Congee is a dish that I definitely would recommend for college students or for anyone who's on a budget.
I make a recipe very similar to this, except I flavor the broth differently…and it absolutely is comfort food! Great recipe for the coming winter weather! Happy Sunday! TFS, Sharon🤗♥️🍜
Congee, the classic comfort food! It's so good with the century egg, but while you're in Chinatown, also get a hold of some salted duck eggs. They also go wonderfully with congee. That salty goodness, yum!
I was positive I heard your child say "mom", a couple of times. I was thinking, that sounds young, I know your kids are pre-teen or teen. Then I realized that it was one of your cat's. That was so funny!
Hello, i love congee! I haven't made it in a while and this is the first time i have heard it used with salted pork. I have a question can you use the salted pork that you can buy or is that too salty? Thank you have a great day!
@@FloLum I’ll check around but we have only one small Asian market. In an agricultural town in the Central Valley of California, so options are limited.
Unless you’re looking for a clear soup, the “scum” hold the natural flavor and will not look as visibly unpleasant when it’s finished. Why people boil the flavor out then rinse the flavor off because it’s not pleasing to the eye and is fancy technique I guess…is beyond my comprehension. That “scum” always cooks away but leaves delicious flavor. You wouldn’t boil then cook a nice steak.! Back in the day the treatment of cooking pork was different than today for safety reasons. Pork doesn’t need to be cooked that way anymore. This isn’t your grandma pork.
Believe it or not, it’s an actual thing!! It’s definitely old… not sure if it’s literally 100 yrs old but nowadays, they do something to the eggs to get the same effect. Either way, I’m not touching it.
Boy you guy's are too young to remember. Bones used to be given away at the Butcher market. You walk in looking and right away he would say. "I have a lot of good Bones for you". and at the big super market, go over to to butcher who worked there, and poke your head in the window asking. Any bones today?. lol FREE I would always put something in that bucket for the meat crew. 👍✌
I would eat this any day of the week! Happy Sunday! 💕
I just had my wisdom tooth pulled on Wed night. Mom made me salted pork & century egg congee for 3 days. Absolutely will never be sick of it ❤❤

This looks AMAZING. I've always done congee on the stove because the instant pot seems subpar for it, but this looks great! I'll def try this out.

Double Double in Richmond makes the best congee
We have our version of Congee called Arzzo Caldo here on Guam
I make a recipe very similar to this, except I flavor the broth differently…and it absolutely is comfort food! Great recipe for the coming winter weather! Happy Sunday! TFS, Sharon🤗♥️🍜

Comfort food. I love it with thousand year old eggs 😋
Love your food videos! For "clearer broth" rinse the pork bones (to remove impurities)? Brown them before boiling? No ginger??
Go with the Flo‼️😎
Here on Guam we make Arroz Caldo
When I was young, whenever I was sick, my grandma would alway make me congee
So delicious ❤

I suppose you could but you won’t be able to control how salty it is.
That is an excellent point! I have used salted pork in other recipes but it is usually a garnish! Thanks, i appreciate the advice!
I want a compilation of every time dude says “The taste” 😂
I have never had a Chinese donut! I’m missing something. Not sure where l might find those. Another recipe I would love to try.
We find them in Chinese bakeries or some supermarkets, if that helps.

I cook with ground pork with black eggs.
Ground pork works really great for congee! An excellent option when you want some tasty congee quick!
Hi can I use chicken instead of pork
Hi Flo, Dude, family and followers hope all is ok.
Pork yummy. 😂
@10:10 I am with Dude, more cilantro please.
Speaking of Comfort, how's that 'far from century old' Leg coming along?
Almost back I normal!
Flo and Dude ❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊😊
Can you use beef bones, too?!
Salted beef is not typical for Chinese congee but you could always try.
Ok..I am looking for alternatives because my bones have issues with pork - are there any other congees with meat?!😅
I was way too tired yesterday - sorry🙏🏽 I found several congee recipes in your channel, thx for all your helpful videos and answers! Happy Halloween 🎃
How come he gets eat it how come ❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
I've always loved this congee, but was never a fan of the bread. Did like the egg though.

Okay, not to sound stupid, but are you talking about real, 100 year old eggs? If so, I’m not sure I’d even crack that sucker open, much less eat it! 😂

We have a butcher where we can still get free beef bones. And we are old enough to remember but thanks for thinking we are not. LOL
