The picture at 2:20 explains so much of the Millennium Falcon’s seemingly weird design choices, such as the cockpit on the side and that weird indent at the front of the ship.

This is random but I really wish people would stop putting chrome on cars. Its really irritating when you're stuck in traffic and you can't see the car in-front of you because the sun is blinding you from the reflection of their bumper... uggg! Its like yeah its neat that you have a shiny bumper but I need my eyes for stuff.

Since these all had different hyperdrive speeds... when they all appeard at the end of episode 9 it must have been a HUGE calculation/attempt to all show up at the same time!

I don't think it's necessarily that much harder to coordinate a jump with 16000 ships than with 16.
1) Everyone reports their hyperdrive rating to your astromech droid. That droid will give you the slowest rating of the bunch... or the slowest one that doesn't let too many behind. (though, honestly, any veteran spacefarer would probably have a gut feel on a good number. I bet they used 3.1 or something)
2) Order everyone to set their HDs to that setting.
3) Get into formation.
4) Lead ship shares their calculation with everyone.
5) Calculate jump with offset to lead ship equal to position in formation.
6) Wait until all ships ahead are clear.
7) Punch it!
I see the backup hyperdrive as more like when early engine powered ships, because the technology was new and prone to breakdown they were still fitted with masts and sails so a breakdown wouldn't leave the ship and everyone aboard stranded in the middle of the ocean.
Now it's the other way around with modern sailing ships. Be a sailor when ya can, and burn overpriced diesel when you can't. (I do not condone the use of diesel meant for farm equipment in watercraft, which absolutely has to be fueled with boat diesel which is much more expensive and taxed much more heavily than automotive or farm equipment diesel despite being the same besides the color)

The millennium falcon reminds me of my friend's truck. It's beat to hell, yesterday I saw it in a ditch but some how he still drove it to work today. Half it's parts are aftermarket and the other half is riddled with dents and bullet holes.

Anything with a hyperdrive is still leagues better than using a generation ship. Generation ships were the method of travel before hyperdrive was invented.

Another reason I prefer the "old" EU :) - because my most beloved (small!) ship (I'd add aftermarket mods if I could afford to do so of course!) isn't in the new canon and I'd want something with a fast hyperdrive!
What ship am I talking about? The WR-542 Shooting Star which has a 0.5 Hyperdrive and is quite fast on sublights (and inside an atmosphere, that's why it's called the Shooting Star!), it's a Sienar Fleet Systems built courier vessel with light armament (2 laser cannons). It's a reasonable size for a single pilot and has a droid-brain (I'd also carry an astromech, they are just too usefull not to have one!) to take over (so you can take a nap without having your ship crash into something etc.) and it has some cargo space (so you can transport high value cargo) and cabins for up to three passengers in addition to the pilot! So it's about the size of the Millenium Falcon but doesn't need quite as extensive modifications (because it's a damned fast ship already!) to really shine, not to mention that it's more comfortable (I don't remember the Falcon having real crew-quarters!)
Sounds cool. The Milienium Falcon actually has a crew quarter, but it is only shown in additional content like artwork-books

In legends the Falcon has actually been completely destroyed and rebuilt several times, even before it got into Lando's hands. One of the benefits of being a CEC design- spare parts are everywhere and it's relatively easy to pull apart and put back together.
AGrumpyPanda It's also built like a friggin' tank, and stuffed to the rafters with redundant systems. The add-ons Han made mean the Falcon is a nightmare to keep running smoothly, but it has the survivability of a cockroach.
There was a point in Legends - the Black Fleet Crisis books, I think - where the New Republic sprung for a complete tear-down and rebuild of the Falcon, keeping all of Han's after-market mods in place. By the time the techs finished putting everything back together with actual new parts, they were kind of amazed at how much punishment the ship had just sort of put up with for decades.

The thing about the Millennium Falcon that most people seem to not be aware of, is that it was not a "rickety old rust bucket", or a "piece of junk"... it was practically new when it was modified... According to the Star Wars Cannon, Han Solo upgraded the ship's hyperdrive to .5, then equipped the ship with military grade quad cannons, military grade capital ship armor and shielding, and a military grade sensor suite - then he intentionally altered the outward appearance of the ship. to make it look like it was a piece of junk. - as far as ships go, it was not a junker, it just looked that way - the reason why the ship constantly suffered from electrical issues, is that is was never meant to have military grade hardware installed, and the systems were "too much" for the ship.

For the J-type skiff you actually showed the Barge which is still fast at 0.7 but the skiff is smaller, sleeker and has top-mounted laser cannons because of the turbulent times. The skiff was equipped with lockers and a medical suite, in addition to the standard cabins and compartments. It could also hold up to 6 passengers, a classier and better ship overall in my opinion.

My Star Wars fan fiction starfighter the Thunderstar has a class 0.2 hyper drive giving it a top hyperspace speed of about 10 to 11 lightyears per second.
I'm more of a Millenium Falcon guy, I would upgrade the Hyperdrive to a 67,000,000 mph or 74,770 km/s. ¼ impulse for Voyager would be 18,665 km/s. Voyager's ¼ impulse is 10 times faster than the shuttle's. So, If we had to make a quick escape from the Empire or the First Order The Impulse would be way too strong for Hyperspace Traction, You're almost going faster than the speed of light! Also, I'd upgrade Weapons, Sheilds, And add Some Cannons. For the top, I would want a Venator with side-mounter TurboLasers. For my bottom gun, I would want A J-1 Semiautomatic Lazer Canon. For my shields, I would put in A Rebel D-S-S-1 With Traction and Focusable Magnetism. For my HEAVY Cannons, I would want a The AV-7 Anti-SpaceCraft Artillery Cannon, with HyperLazers and Energy Beams. And finally, For my Satelite, I would Replace them with, Plasma Burst Satellites Which can transmit signals through the Strongest Connection Firewalls and Signal Blockages.

Initially I don't think so but as the Rebel Alliance grew in strength and numbers, as financial backers started funding them, as planets like Mon Cala started joining the Alliance to Restore The Republic and as the Rebel Alliance started organizing themselves into a more structured and organized conventional military, I think yeah, they started giving salaries to their members.
By the time of Rouge One, the Rebel Alliance was already a somewhat conventional military as they had a chain of command, organized fleets (consisting of major ships like the MC75 cruiser, CR90 corvette, Hammerhead corvette and Nebulon class frigate) and had political support. That said, it only makes sense for their members to also start receiving salaries as well.

It's surprising to hear that the Naboo skiff had a 0.5, since it was established in a couple of sources that the only way to get to that level was to take an existing hyperdrive and modify it. That being said, it wouldn't be difficult for a planetary government to arrange the modifications for a few high-priority craft, so I suppose it's not that surprising.

Talking Plant The Kessel Run is a smugglers route that goes around a black hole. The faster your ship, the closer you can cut the corner, and the shorter your route.
Thusly, the Kessel Run is measured in units of distance, not time.

There is one faster than the falcon. In legends there was a Sekotan ship paired to and built for Anakin Skywalker called the Jabitha that had a .4 class hyperdrive (though it needed a Jedi to achieve this speed). You can find it in the (new) essential guide to vehicles and vessels 2003 edition. And yes I'm getting these stats directly off the page, so it is at least EU canon.

You forgot the Dash Rendar's ship the Outrider. I don't know if he is cannon anymore, but his ship was only outclassed in speed by the Millennium Falcon.

You missed a ship, I don't remember the name of it, but it had a class 0.4 hyperdrive. It was used by anakin during the clone wars to get off a planet that grew ships from plants. (The same planet that helped get peace between the yuuzhan vong and the galaxy)
So, what does all this mean in terms of tangible velocities such as light years per second or hour? Has there been any sort of "real world" rating in the Star Wars Universe in terms of Hyperdrive speed? This is one of the (many things) that bothered me in TLJ's Finn and Rose's road trip to Canto Bight - just how many hours did it take them to get there, free the space greyhounds, and get back????

You forgot one, but it's only barely a ship. DS-1 Death Star mobile battle fortress. A shockingly-fast-for-its-size class 4. I don't know what class the second Death Star would have been if it was finished but I think similar.

Based on your analysis the fleets of the Empire or the Rebel Alliance could move only as fast as their slowest ship. When attacking a target and if they moved at their maxed speed then they are going to arrive at the target at different times. It would be bad if you hyperdrive was class 3 on your ship and the fighters have a class 1 then the battle could be over when you got there.

That's becouse the only place that you'll find this is in Force and Destiny rpg rulebook by FFG.
What about the old prequel cross-section books? Some of the info was removed in reprints.
The Syliure-45 hyperdrive booster ring has a canon rating of 1.0. This is the model commonly used with the Eta-Actis interceptor. There is no canon information for the Syliure-31 (used with the Delta-7 line) or the V-19 variant.

Well it could be difficult to engage it might need some setup time like a flat would
