      My pick would be a GHTROC 720 Freighter, it may not be as fast or as maneuverable as the YT-1300, but it has more cargo space than a YT-1300 C while having quarters for 12 people (2 crew and 10 passengers) and all of this it only needs a single pilot, and it's as modifiable as a YT-1300.

    • @CitanulsPumpkin
      @CitanulsPumpkin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      They need to get up a new ship. Bad Batch is probably the first space series where the main cast lives on a small gunship. Every other show or movie sets the main characters up in a light freighter or larger ship with plenty of room to actually live and set scenes in. Non space shows that set the main characters up with a small gunship usually use decommissioned WWII PT boats, but shows like Back Lagoon and Mccale's Navy still set 90% of the crew's downtime in a bar or clubhouse on the main island they always return to. The bar with the Bad Batch's quest giver npc doesn't look like it has any bedrooms for them to crash in.

    Honestly, I want to see a ship story arc similar to the bomber Old 666 somewhat.
    What I envision is a team of smugglers with a corellian corvette trying to make a living as smugglers. However, not only is the competition fierce in the region they work in, but it’s also a contested area where smugglers are frequently attacked by either pirates or Imperial patrols.
    The captain then decides to heavily up gun the corvette. He and the crew strap on and cram as many guns on the corvette that they can fit and basically convert the corvette to a small frigate. They take up mercenary work, providing escort to other smugglers and protecting smugglers from both imperials and pirates. Need of their success quickly spreads around and soon other smugglers begin to up gun their ships and join the ragtag mercenary group.
    The group would steadily grow until they are a small fleet which is dubbed as the “Mercenary Fleet”. This fleet would soon partake in the rebellion against the empire.

    I think the Gozanti Class Cruiser should be on this list. It takes a dozen people to fully crew, but if your family doesn't fill out all the positions, you can always use droids. And its massive cargo holds should be convertible for a great deal of uses.

      My thoughts exactly! It’s a big enough ship that turbolasers aren’t out of the question, and a few point-defense cannons or squadron of fighters docked on the bottom airlocks (like the TIEs in Rebels) would ward off any would-be attackers.

    • @therealspeedwagon1451
      @therealspeedwagon1451 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You could also modify it to run with a smaller crew and streamline some systems. I had an idea for a Star Wars OC that was born into a life of opulence turned smuggler and scoundrel trying to make a living in a dark empire in whatever way possible. His companion would be an IG-100 Magnaguard and an R-5 astromech droid. Along with this he would have some other crew members on his ship. Since his dad was from Naboo he would have an N-1 starfighter as a personal ship and then the Gozanti would be his true home ship and base of operations. Of course this Gozanti would be heavily modified to have the N-1 dock with it seamlessly, along with having a couple extra engines, heavier armor and shields, heavier weapons, and a better hyperdrive.

    • @Omniseed
      @Omniseed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@greninjaguy5264 The Lancer pursuit craft is my favorite for that reason. I've wanted to concoct a variation of it that has the cargo hold in a separate lower deck, maybe lower the cockpit to remain in the midline. The increased space from repurposing the original cargo hold for crew-related storage, exercise and medical equipment, space for more powerful or more redundant power and shield generators, or even space to maintain a land-based expeditionary vehicle or a few speeder bikes.

    • @greninjaguy5264
      @greninjaguy5264 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Omniseed this is not a bad idea.
      I was thinking of also making more upgrades such as an even faster hyperdrive, heavy laser cannons, missile launchers, and so on.
      I'd also like to do the same for the fury class interceptor, since it's probably my next fave ship to the lancer. While the conference room is nice, that could be turned into more storage or something else entirely, since really all you need is a holodeck room to discuss plans. Making more doorways to all the main rooms would make movement through the ship much better, which is especially as important in battle. Add in some redundant systems, and some movable turrets and you've basically made a perfect ship even more so.
      Want to keep your bounties in line? Get carbonite freezers, and force prisons for those pesky force-sensitives.
      Finally, for both of these, I feel as if cloaking would be an amazing addition to their already perfect designs. Nobody will ever be able to hunt down your ship at vital moments, and you can always get the first strike in battle.
      You can also have the ship controlled via integrated vambrace controls for that final touch.

  • @GrinderCB

    When I played the MMO Star Wars Galaxies, everyone got a free Sorosuub 3000 personal yacht. It didn't have combat capability or anything like that, it was simply a ship where you could store your goods and could decorate as you saw fit. Aside from the cockpit, the ship had a large main deck that could be setup as a party room. There was an elevator in the rear that went up a level to a conference room, and then another level up to an observation deck. In the front of the ship were stairs leading down to the private quarters with a den and bedroom. All you had to do was decorate it.

      @@peabrain6872 Star Wars Galaxies came out in 2003 and ran about six years before it closed down. You created a character from several species - human, zabrak, wookiee, bothan, trandoshan, twi'lek, rodian, mon calamari, sullustan, or ithorian - each of which had different traits useful for assorted occupations. There's a Wikipedia page that gives a complete description. They started with the ground game but were very slow to add quests and group activities. The space expansion didn't come out for a couple years and there were several changes to the combat system. The big thing was that everyone wanted to be a Jedi but only a small percentage of player characters ever got there. You could play as a Rebel, an Imperial, or one of the criminal cartels. Eventually after many changes the sandbox element ended and everyone was playing as either a Force user or a bounty hunter, since they had the best combat skills in the game.

    The Fury-class Imperial interceptor from the old republic Sith Empire had a good design for it. As a interceptor ship used by the Sith ellite's in that era just like the Ebon Hawk . it had everything you need with in reason for a mobile home that serve as a specialist ship by the Sith mostly in this era . As this ship was used as a mobile home for the Sith inquistor in Star Wars the old republic MMRPG online game .

      The only issue I had with the character ships in SWTOR was they ended up very crowded.
      For 2-3 people it wasn't bad, but for the 8+ it's really cramped.
      Also worth noting (and this applies to this entire list) none of these ships have a bathroom/toilet, or a kitchen. Sure they may be spacious but without those vital amenities I'd not want to live on any of these ships for a weekend, nevermind as a home.
      Alot of the actual list has "warship makes good home" vibes, ask any sailor a warship is a terrible home, it's a warship, you only live there because the commute is a right pain.

    The first Imperial customs frigate that tried to board our scrub YT-1300 became the group's new base of operations ever after as we just boarded them back and claimed it. Installing the transponder switch was crucial though. We maintained two 'clean' identities for the ship while the original 'hot' transponder signature was used for overt rebel operations or more provocative occasions. We called the ship the Emperor's Woes. It was.

    everyone knows about the major ships of the galaxy however one of my favorites is the Alidade class long range survey vessel. these ships had a 2 year consumable supply, were pretty tough for a civilian ship, with incredibly powerful sensors meant to locate worlds and identify habitable systems. to accommodate the crew they had fairly nice living spaces, and often included entertainment systems since galactic exploration and surveys could be boring.
    if i had to pick a ship to live on it would be an Alidade, though they had become fairly rare by the time of the empire and the rebellion.

    I reckon that a YV-929 Armed Freighter would be a pretty cool home ship. armed for self defence, just as the founding fathers intended, about 10 meters shorter than the Falcon, so a more personal space for 1-3 people. A reliable class 2.0 hyperdrive and a fairly compact design.
    The only problem is that the Empire banned them due to how they were armed, and any that they pulled over had to be proven to be purchased legally and not in league with the rebellion. Owning one after the fall of the empire would be a dream tbh

    Having home be a starship, especially a small, kind of beat-up one, really sparks the imagination. Are you planning a continuation for ships outside of Star Wars?
    There are the obvious ones, like the Bebop, Serenity, and Normandy, of course, but there are a _lot_ of other ships that would fit this bill out there suitable for an individual or small crew to live in and operate from, like the Nostromo from Alien and Moya from Farscape. As terrifying as science fiction can be, it's kind of heartwarming how the natural inclination is to make the ship homey and comfortable.
