After re-reading the Revenge of the Sith novelization, I'm convinced that the Tri-Fighter is the BEST interceptor of all time, so I'm glad you included it. A single interceptor is a threat to both Obi-wan and Anakin, even with the two Jedi working together. I agree with your space superiority too, though I would go for a more advanced version t-85 if canon, or something like the twin-tail for legends. For atmosphere, if we can go with Legends, I'd go with the V-Wing. I like your thumbnail btw, it's eye-catching.
I think the TIE Defender would have also been a good contender for that role, as it has all the advantages of the T-65 while boasting better engine, shielding and firepower.
I love that EckhartsLadder is Generation Tech ;) you guys should Play some SW EaWFoC space battles together :) Republik at war... CIS vs Republik I hope the CIS win, whoever it is....
DeathmasterSniktch TIE Defender is an awesome high-end fighter but it still has a Pilot and can't make such hard maneuvers as the TRI Fighter... smaller target, armed to the teeth... and even if the Fighter blows up.... better a droid than an living pilot
Johnny Shadow: Which one, the pre-Disney EU which is now legends model of the Tie Defender or the victim of plot armor tie defender prototype in the now Disney star wars?
For me dude, it would be the Tie Defender legends model. Best starfighter in the Tie Fighter game published by Lucasarts. The disney version is unfortunately vastly underpowered.
What if Empire invest in new experimental tech+Chiss tech instead of building stupid Death Star ? One single ECLIPSE class can operate at DS lowest level, wich is already OVERKILL for most of existing ships, PLANET can handle 2-3 shots until exposed core will start melt surface down, thus exposing RARE resources for mining, and no rebels cause, they all be under LAVA
If the games are anything to go by, the TIE Defender could literally do everything, and perform each role better than even specialized craft. It was just very expensive.
I would use tri fighter as an interceptor. Purely technically just as good as A wing maeby better. You dont need hyperdrive because you are intercepting fighters near capital ships or bases. Also you can have lot of them, good thing for interceptor.
it could be made even better if it was piloted remotely, by pilots on a capital ship farther back in the fight, kind of like the drones used by the United States Millitry.
What about the TIE Defender? It's an incredibly op ship, faster than the A-Wing, shielded, has a hyperdrive, and heavily armed with 6 laser cannons and ordinance launchers
Fuck the new order... It has 4 laser and 2 ion canons. Disney are a bunch of stupid bastards. The TIE Defender should be OP as fuck That's what it was made for.
But the TIE Defender lacks the most important piece of technology and the turning point for all ships that ever exist in all of the Star Wars galaxy. That, my comrades, is plot armor. Plot armor makes the ship in question the most powerful piece of tech in history that will only ever fail when the actor/actress in question decides the fanbase doesn't love it enough anymore. EDIT: Plot armor may be ruined by an even deadlier weapon: Anger from the fanbase that stems from horrible actors and the worst directors of all time *cough* Rian Johnson *cough*.
Jedi Archives don't forget the tractor beam projectors to move ships around the battlefield and generate menuvers that other ships couldn't dream of performing
You mention the apparent stagnation of technology in the SW Galaxy. What we are seeing (not counting writers and artists trying hard to keep to limited visual themes) is likely the rule of diminishing returns. A faster ship means a higher thrust to mass ratio. Bigger engines mean fast fuel consumption, so larger fuel cells to maintain operational time/range, which means a larger hull, which means more mass... It would probably be the lifetime work of an engineer to figure out how to make an engine only one or two percentage points more efficient than any others in the same mass/size/cost range. Elsewhere, a chemist would be spending his/her/its entire career trying to come up with a new fuel that is just a little better, and/or a little more cost effective to produce, than what is already on the market. The Hammerhead Corvette, for example, has a hull design that has changed little in 4000 years. Why is that? Because the hull design has proven to be effective. Take one from the time of the Clone Wars and match it up to one from the Old Republic era and you will likely see a large collection of small improvements, such as more efficient support systems, higher precision navigational computers, slightly smaller engines with higher output, with an end result that the two corvettes would look a lot alike, while being a world apart in performance. And as an added bonus, the Corellian Engineering Corporation has saved a pile of credits over the last 4000 years by not having to redesign the ship from the keel up ever few generations.
Agreed. War-time build ups, post war build downs of military resources. Localized conflicts causing re-routing of hyperspace lanes. Even a natural star death could cause a radiation burst that fried electronic records. And that doesn't even include the active attempts some groups or individuals may have made to intentionally alter or erase records of military or other technologies. Think how many planet killers that were designed, and possibly even constructed in the thousands of years of known history. What would have happened to the first Death Star had the rescue of Princess Leia failed? A second, larger one was already under construction, and in legends, the prototype had been left to gather dust once it had proven to be a workable concept. yes, I spend way too much brain power picking apart Star Wars, and I hope the franchise will recover from the poisoning JarJar Abrams has caused.
big7558 You can also see it with the Rebels. Most of their things are stolen things from the Empire, some "give away" things like the X-Wing, or old Clone Wars things. LIke their Y-Wing. It isnt much off from the Y-Wing from clone wars era
But In counter to the in the real world, technology stagnated for a bit then exploded an then stagnated again. take this as an example, Man A discovers Bronze way back when, dose he like in the Star wars universe say, "hmm I could try to find out what this is or I can stick with stone and flint because they already work." it is foolish to think that nobody in the entire history of star war has ever tried to improve their tech. Even if it takes as you say 1-2% every hundred years given the researcher is human. Even if one of these people appeared every 50 years star wars engine would increase by 160 percent, except as we see on earth technology doesn't improve by 1-2% in a lifetime because there are people who are still alive that were born before the invention of the computer and look where we are now. I Love Star wars and I think it unreasonable for people to make a 4000 year long history of tech for a galaxy. But yes the tech is stagnant and I don't think there is a problem with that.
you could but you still suffer from the jack of all trades problem with the core. the capabilities of a craft relies on the entire package, not just what is tacked on to it. your core craft would have to have the key systems like the reactors, engines, life support, cockpit and so on. at this point you may as well make an entire craft based on this. the tie series actually comes the closest to puling this off with many fighter variants having the same ball cockpit with diffrent wings.
Sean Rea if you want an example look to the gundam franchise, namely the Universal Century timeline. The GM mobile suit line has solid enough base to add modifications that would later become dedicated variants, which would later became the basis for whole new specialty units all together.
It is not a bad concept and would be ideal if possible but would still be impractical for a fighter type craft. for larger craft it is more practical. with larger craft like the shuttles, strike craft or drop ships you could do mission pods effectively enough but this would not be practical for smaller craft. an interceptor needs to be light and quick for it to use its speed to its advantage, a space superiority fighter can be more general purpose but needs to be durable and quick as it is more of a dedicated dog fighter than the interceptors. bombers need redundant thrust capacity to carry a payload of ordinance but it does not need the speed of an interceptor or space superiority fighter and also need to be durable enough to get to its target. each rule has its own requirements.
Im so glad that you mentioned the apparent stagnation in technology. If you compare the state of any of the star craft used in the movies to just the US military you can easily see the decline in the Republic even before the Clone Wars. It could be economic stagnation of the Republic bleeding over into technology or perhaps a lack of need seen for constant advancement of technology until the wars start a need for an arms race for the Empire and its off shoots.
Oni Raptor to be fair currently many nation's use vehicles from WW2 still and handguns over a century old (like the 1911) the biggest push for tech development is war, which is why you see vast improvements military wise during the clone wars and then nothing for the most part until a bit through the rebellion and then after the formation of the new republic and the various wars fought thereafter
I love the idea of the tri-fighter as a wingman. it allows it to perform the interceptor role it is best at, but also not be so mundane in it's tactics
My list: Fighter Wing: TIE/sf (pilot and co-pilot, shields) Interceptor: RZ-2 A-Wing (just better) Space superiority: E-Wing (better X-wing) Fighter/bomber: K-wing (big payload) In-atmosphere: TIE striker Ground attack: Y-Wing Gunship: U-Wing (you're right, It's pretty much superior in every way) To protect my fleet: TIE Striker (fast, manuverable, durable), Stealth: Same as yours
I think You could further better this starfighter core by replacing the T-65 X-wing with the more advanced T-70, and replace the RZ-1 A-wing with the improved RZ-2
On the troop transport it really depends, if you’re doing small strike missions with very good fighters or special forces you want a u-wing, if you’re doing a large batte you should use an elongated lamda shuttle (because it has shields) or an LAAT. That is my opinion.
That's a lot of different techs throw together. Maintenance and repair would be a nightmare on the crew. Not to mention parts inventory, and tools/equipment. Going to be interesting to see what you pick for a carrier. I have a feeling i know what that will be.
Interceptor: T.I.E. interceptor with additional chin mounted cannons and shielding Long range figther: X-wing Elite fighter: T.I.E. defender Short range bomber: T.I.E. punisher/interdictor Long range bomber: Y-wing (light bomber) & B-wing (heavy bomber) Air superiority & CAS: T.I.E. striker with shielding Recon: A.R.C.-170
A-wing: Interceptor. B-wing: Tactical bomber (Mostly torpedo bomber with some additional composite beam variants added in) X-wing: Air superiority U-wing: Drop ship YT-1300: Strategic bomber. (Quad cannons, heavy armor, redundant shielding systems, several bomb bays spread across the ship. YT-2400: Gunship / siege breaker. (Sato's hammer design with Kenner outrider side mounted cannon) (2 x twin laser cannons, cockpit mounted laser cannon, side mounted heavy laser cannon, composite beam firing mode, upgraded armor, redundant shielding and energy generation to power composite beam weapon.)
Fighter wing: Vulture Droids Interceptors: Tri-fighter Space Superiority: X-wing Bomber/fighter: B-wings In atmosphere: Z-95 Headhunter Ground attacks: Hyena Bombers Gunship: LAAT To protect the fleet and screen for fighters: A-wing Recon: Tie Defender And for Stealth: Tie Phantom All to escorted on a Venator and Droid command ship. What do you think of my choices for fighters and there rolls?
"You'll end up with a fighter that is just average at everything" I feel a great disturbance in the force, it is as if a thousand Lockheed sales reps suddely cried out and suddenly rage quit. /s
themetalstickman They know what they're doing. They understand that you also need quantity to win a war, and the F-35 brings quantity to the fight, in all missions, btw.
The AVERAGE, OVERPRICED-OVERHYPED P.O.S, in combat only relies on missiles, clearly forget WHAT E.C.M gen 8 will just shut off all electronics on bord, make it flying rock
Carrier wing - Droid tri-fighters as point defense/screen craft. Recon/intercept A-Wing Space Superiority, mix of X-wings and Tie Defenders. Tie defenders configured for PURE Anti-fighter, with missiles... X-wings using torps and doing multi-roll fighter bomber. Attack: Bwing in the anti-shipping, Y-wings in air to ground.
Main fighter- ARC-170 Interceptor- Droid Tri fighter Bomber- K wing Recon- Tie defender Gunship- HMP (droid gunship) Drop ship-LAAT (republic drop ship with modifications to have shields)(HMP can drop droids) 2 Drop ship- Tie reaper (because a tie drop ship would be fast and that's what it needs to do, drop troops fast)
Interceptor: A-Wing Space Superiority: X-Wing Bomber/Heavy Assault: B-Wing Close Escort: ARC-170 Ground Assault: LAAT Close Air Support: Y-Wing (the X-Wing would fit if not available)
my list: main fighter: (legends)tie defender (best fighter in star wars) bomber: K-wing (huge payload but slow speed) and maybe hyena bomber (great speed but small payload) interceptor: droid tri-fighter and RZ 2-A (better then RZ 1-A) base defense fighter(fighter that can be deployed fast to defend the base): X-83 twintail (the best variant of the X-wing line) boarding ship: kom'rk class fighter in atmosphere: V-wing (although maybe not a fighter cuz it cant fly in space) and tie striker ground bomber: Y-wing transport: LAAT/I gunship(more troop capacity and able to carry ground vehicles) , U-wing (better fighter) and a droid gunship (transporting droids and superior firepower) protect and screen fleet: tie-avenger or E-wing reconnaissance: royal guard tie interceptor (best version of the interceptor) cloaking and stealth: the GAR's experimental stealth ship with tie phantoms or the uzang-vong coral skipper
Just some starfighters I whould like to use in a fighting force: -ARC-170 (Anti capital/cruiser ship fighter) -A-wing (Interceptor) -K-wing (Bomber) -X-wing (Anti starfighter fighter(repertition repetition))
0:16 There is a starfighter that does all that. The Mandalorian Bes'uliik. It literally did all those things and more. It was also made out of Mandalorian Iron (Beskar), which was lightsaber-proof, so when it was shot, even by other ships, the lasers actually ricocheted off. They are arguably the best straighter in the galaxy. The only problem is that since it appears in books, we don't have any official pictures of it.
Fighter: TIE defender Ground assault: TIE punisher Interceptor RTZ2 A wing Bomber: the gauntlet Troop transport: LAAT gunship for large battles, u wing for strike missions Support: Tri fighter Atmosphere: Tie striker Recon: arc-170/ tie aggressor
My list: Swarm fighter: Vulture droid (it can be used for fleet defence, swarm attack, and be a light ground support in land mode) Interceptor: Rz-2 A wing + Driod Tri fighter as the swarm interceptor (force the enemy to either engaged the 3 driod tri fighter or engaged the smart A-wing with the enemy falling prey to the A wing or tri fighter) Space Superiority/multirole: T-70 Xwing (double as the mainline) Fighter/Bomber: Tie Defender Atmosphere Bomber: K-wing Atmosphere fighter: same as u plus support form vulture and X-wing Transport: U-wing Gunship: Laat and Droid gunship Long range: same u or Sith interceptor or the ghost Stealth fighter: tie Phantom
For me, the perfect fighter wing consists of the following: -Tri-Fighters as an interceptor, it's faster and more maneuverable than the A-Wing and also it's a better armed droid fighter. -Definitely need one general purpose craft, I would pick the E-Wing, just an upgraded X-Wing -And for space superiority the TIE Defender is probably the best fighter in the history of the galaxy -TIE Striker is fine as in-atmosphere but most of these ships can perform atmospheric missions too -Definitely for the bomber and heavy bomber role I'd use the NR K-Wing it can do both -Finally a bit of Missile Boats for bombing, dogfighting and pretty much everything
For anti capital ship strike missions I'd throw in the Empire's Alpha Class Star Wing Assault Gunboat. It's the first fighter craft of the Empire equipped with a hyper drive, and was heavily shielded. In addition to twin forward mounted lasers it also had twin ion cannons. But it's primary armament was it's flexible ordinance load out, capable of carrying virtually any missile or torpedo available, and with an ordinance capacity as large as the fighter's name is long.
The core of my starfighter corps would consist of TIE Defenders as the mainstay and multi-role fighter. Expensive, but very high quality instead of quantity. And the pinnacle of advanced starfighter tech during the GCW. Backing it up as a heavy attack/assault fighter (and do not care if legend, is real in my heart) would be the Xm-1 Nova Wing, or at least the Xg-1 Star Wing. All are heavily defended, have hyperdrives, multiple weapon systems, and the first two are very fast. Your suggestions for troop carriers and scouts sound fine. In particular, I would choose this as I was doing some math. You had a video on 'what the Empire could have had instead of the DS-1'. Well based on those calculations, arrived at the conclusion that for the cost of the DS-1, the Empire could have instead outfitted all its 25000 Star Destroyers each with a complete wing of TIE Defenders, and still have 127,750 TIE/D squadrons remaining. Should have invested in the Defender program, and maybe the Empire might have won the GCW. There is still that fool of an emperor....
If I were to choose the perfect fleet , I would use the moddified harrower w silencer as an offensive fleet carrier, K wings as bombers, munificents class as my carrier escorts and I agree with you on the A wings ,Arcs and X wings.
You should either do your personal section of ground vehicles or capital ships. For ground you could do artillery, heavy tank, troop transports, and scouting. For capital ships you could do Anti fighter, carrier, support frigate, Battle ship, Corvette, and command Vessel.
I seriously like your idea to use Tri-fighters as escorts for bombers and such. Having played all the x-wing & Tie-Fighter games, I can tell you that the A-Wing is no where near as fast as the Tie Defender, which is borne out by the Rebels series. The only way the rebels defeated the Defender was by having their best non-Jedi pilot destroy it in the best that they had. For that reason, I'd chose the Defender in the role of Interceptor over the A-wing. "Nothing says space superiority better than an X-wing?" I love ya man, but the Tie Defender is FAR superior to the X-wing. The Defender's top speed is nearly double that of the X-wing, and it's drastically more maneuverable as well. The Tie Defender's shields are also twice as strong as the X-wings, although the X-wing does have heavier armor. The defender has a better weapons suit, including ion cannons and a tractor beam, neither of which the X-wing possesses. In the fighter/bomber role I would repurpose the YT-2000 modified to carry missiles and torpedoes, for ground attack and to carry several Tri-Fighters. As for atmospheric craft, I think I'd stick with the Tie Defender again. For troop transports, if you're dropping droids I'd go with the HMP Droid Gunship which would also be highly effective for ground support as well. When dropping biological troops, I'd go with the Sentinel-class Landing Craft. The UT-60D just doesn't have the capacity to move troops effectively. Up to 75 troops in the Sentinel vs 8 in the U-wing. The U-wing is ok for moving a squad of soldiers, such as for special forces groups, I think having a shielded version of the LAAT and it's derivatives would be far superior. I think an ELINT version of a transport would be better than the 3-man ARC-170, such as an electronics & intelligence modification to the YT-2000. Would also make a far better patrol craft than an IPV-1.
Alright dig this generation tech Space superiority craft-TIE Defender Heavy Bomber- BWing Interceptor- A wing Recon Craft-Tie Phantom Atmospheric Craft-Tie Striker Landing Craft-LAAT And to be economically sound make the LAAT our ground support craft as it has a massive payload optimal for air to ground firing Patrol Craft- V-19 torrent. I’d also add a special role fighter for day escorting VIP transports and such and I’d use the Royal Guards TIE interceptors for that. What do you think of my list my dude?
Here are the following fightercraft if I had my own private navy in the SW Universe. I'll stick to Legends with some Canon material. *fleet operations/defense/static defense (for space stations): combo of shielded TIE drones and Z-95 Headhunters with short-range hyperdrives. *interceptors: Chiss N'ssis clawcraft (for elite units only) and modified TIE Interceptors with shields and short-range hyperdrives. *heavy assault / anticapital ship craft: TIE Defenders and shielded TIE bombers. *long range armed recon ops: TIE Defender *ground and atmospheric operations: K-Wing for heavy assaults and aerial support; U-Wing for troop transport; variants of the LAA/T for walker and heavy vehicle transport.
I'm pretty sure my dream team would end up being Tie/D Defenders as my fighter/interceptor and K wings and TIE/IT Interdictors with Tri-Fighter escorts. Landing craft would be the U wing and LA-AT. Boarding teams would rock the 0-G Space Assault Trooper armor using either the U Wing or LA-AT as a delivery system.
X wings T65 b for main fighters A wings for interceptors B wings for anti capital ships bombers. V wings for air to air and air to ground (from the N64 Rogue squadron ) it it has rapped fire for strafing ground targets and cluster missiles that can target multiple ground and air targets. Arc 170 for long range patrols Y wing (rebel version) for heavy ground bombing. Zakuul Dropship just with upgraded tech. And u wing dropships And for my personal ship the Rouge Shadow the one star killer uses.
Most roles depending on need: The Legends version of the TIE Defender. Space/Air Bomber: MX-1 Nova Wing (the Missile Boat). Seriously, these two ships are just better at everything. Atmosphere fighter: TIE Striker Transport: The Laat Gunships are quite versatile. Interceptors: Droid Tri-Fighter Stealth: The TIE phantom
All in all i agree with your choices, but i would make two changes: the stealth fighter of my list would be the TIE Phantom, and add the TIE Hunter as a can-do-everything fighter. With the lack of technological development, i think they did not use several thousand year old ships but rather build pattern that had recieved constant upgrades., only the outer appearance stayed the same, be it for efficiency, traditions or a lack or good ship designers.
I do agree with you on most of the starfighters. But for troop transport I will still go and use the LAAT/i. The U-Wing might be better and faster and so on then the LAAT, but the LAAT can carry more troopers and meanwhile (At last as I see it) having door gunners to grain ground support then what the U-Wing can. In my eyes, having a ship that can carry more troopers and can be modded to be use to something else (Like the dropship, LAAT/c, that Republic had during Clone Wars) is more usefull. Because then can I have smaller groups of ships to maintain stealth/survivabillity of the flight group and still have a good firepower of troopers. I mean 30 vs the 8 that the U-Wing can carry is far more better in terms of firepower from the soldiers to the battlefield with limit use of transports. But in the end it might go to what strategy the general/admiral will uses. I bet that my strategy is alot more different then yours
When reading one of the Now legends X-wing series books I noted that there was a system that kept the Gs in the cockpit of the X-wing at 1G, at least in space anyways.
Fighter: TIE Defender + Missile Boat. Interceptor: TIE Defender Space Superiority: TIE Defender + Missile Boat Multirole: TIE Defender In Atmosphere: TIE Defender + Missile Boat Ground Attack: Missile Boat Gunship: LTTD (Star Wars version of Mi-24 Hind, so why not?) Fleet Protection: TIE Defender + Missile Boat Stealth: TIE Phantom
i would use the tri-fighters paired with a-wings for interceptors, the Y-wing that is equipped with better engines for a bomber, the X-83 twin tail for my superiority fighter, tie phantoms for recon, the B-wing as a heavy bomber, for atmosphere i would use the tie striker or if its allowed, the F-22 Raptor, for the flying missile class, I would use a Delta-7 aetherspite and for patrol i would use the skipray blastboat, i would also equip Ace's with tie defenders and E-wings. I also would add in fang fighters as wingmen for the kormric class assault ship
I would use the ut-60d for special forces and supplement the arc-170 with thr tie defender up armour the laat for foreword ops adding droid tri-fighters for covering them and y-wings to hammer enemy positions before landings
In my opinion, the A-Wing is under equipped as an interceptor as a good interceptor needs to be able to take down both large and small targets efficiently and as such it requires a fair amount of firepower, which was seen in our world by the P-47 Thunderbolt of ww2. With its 8 50. Cal (12.7mm) machine guns it works very well against fighters and bombers due to the sheer amount of firepower it has
I agree with everything but the patrol craft. I would prefer the cloakship as for the cost of a tie fighter you get a ship that can get shields almost twice as good as an x-wing, hull strength better than an x wing a modifiable hyperdrive to take it from class 3 to class 2 or 1.5, and A spot for Astromechs it can hold out in a fight and if properly configured which a lot of people could do, you could have the droid pilot the ship when the enemy is not there so it would last so much longer!
As cool as the rebels fighters are... The TIE advanced, bomber, and defender would be at the core of my fighter choices (modified for shielding and hyperdrive given EU states the TIEs had a place for both but was never installed). Some older ships such as the skiprey and firespray gunships for long range patrol and heavy defense. I would also design an elongated frigate designed strictly as an anti fighter craft. Along either length of the vessel would be smaller laser turrents as they would be faster than turbolaser cannons meant to track and target fighters, used as escorts to capital ships. These support ships would also be armed with ion turrents as well as a micro torpedo system.
Having droid ships (tri fighters or normal vulture droids) that are assigned to other ships like bombers to be wingmen makes sense; the inferior droid ships would be able to effectively pick off ships targeting the bombers, even if said ships were higher quality or better. Droid ships complementing human piloted ships is better than one or the other, as you both have quality ships and also have numerical superiority so that if an enemy gets on one of your human piloted ships, the droid wingmen could probably engage them
I would swap the arc170 and the xwing as they are equal in speed and probably not any noticeable difference in maneuverability in space plus the rear turret would keep the arc pretty projected from other craft and it can be a capable capital ship killer whereas using the xwing for patrol I'd imagine it'd be harder to detect and quicker than the arc170 (quicker not faster, there is a difference) allowing it to screen from afar with minimal risk. Either way though you can't go wrong
for troop transport use both u-wing and laat, while laat has more carrying capacity, the u-wing has a hyperdrive thus not needing another ship to transport it over longer distances
I would use the original Droid fighter, but upgrade the engines and power supply to have a longer and faster flight time. Plus, it's helpful for attacking ground targets.
If you go by the Legends specs, then the TIE Defender can handle every role except atmosphere fighter. The TIE Defender in Legends was faster than both the TIE Interceptor and the A Wing as an interceptor. It had shields, armor, and hyperdrive to make it as good or better in the space superiority role as the X Wing. With four laser cannons, two ion cannons and dual ordinance launchers, the TIE Defender was great in the assault/bomber role as well. Since everyone mentions its cost, think of this: whatever military adopts it doesn't have to build and maintain multiple types of fighter craft, thus saving credits in every aspect of manufacture and maintenance of their space/air force. Plus, most militaries aren't drained of resources building multiple dreadnoughts and super-sized battle-stations. I think the Naboo starfighter would make a good aircraft, so I chose it for the air superiority role. I think that's an awesome Fighter Corp.
My ships Twin tails:Space superiority Tie defenders: Long range patrol craft's Tie phantom:Stealth ship T-85 xwing:Escort ship LAAT gunship:Troop Transports Tie-Punisher:Atmosphere bomber K-wing:space bomber
'Antiquated' is one way of putting it, My X70B phantom from the Old Republic's Cold War Era needed to seriously focus fire on key parts of larger vessels to incapacitate them (incapacitate, not fully destroy), and taking out the bridge? out of the question. On the flipside, you ride on star tours and you can watch a freaking Space Greyhound punch through the bridge shields of an Imperial Class Star Destroyer. Where the hell was that kind of firepower when I was playing starship missions?
Mandalorian Kom class is very adaptable, It could bring in 24 mandalorian soldier if adapted it could be a bomber and the bigger design redesigned could bring in 12 Hyenna class bombers
I guess there are only two categories left: Starships (not star fighters themselves, but it’d be a nice side note to mention which ships carries which fighters that you’ve mentioned in this video) & Armor (just be sure you specifically mention which of your listed soldiers are in whatever(s)). IF there was another, then it’d better be a story worth expressing.
I think this is a great one, but I do have a few changes for me. Replace the y-wing with the k-wing or tie interdictor. Swap the u-wing with the HMP. This is my thoughts thought.
Alan said he would use commando droids, so this is why. Also, you need a hyperdrive for ground attacks? Even against capital ships, the k-wing is as fast as a y-wing, and the interdictor could be easily escorted. I did think of this.
interceptor: a wing, trifighter space superiority, x wing, escort: vulture droids, z-95lt bomber, hyena droids, y-wingstorpedo boat: Cormack fighter, alpha class starwingsheavy bomber: new republic heavy bombertransport: u wings, laatshuttle: lambda shuttles picket: arc 170, modified freighterslong range scouts: modified freighters, stealth ships (blend in or hide)short range scouts, hyper-drive equipped delta series interceptors.
Yea with a few enhancements to increase range and the tri fighters are unstoppable
I think the TIE Defender would have also been a good contender for that role, as it has all the advantages of the T-65 while boasting better engine, shielding and firepower.
HOLY SHIT HI Eckharts
I love that EckhartsLadder is Generation Tech ;)
you guys should Play some SW EaWFoC space battles together :) Republik at war... CIS vs Republik
I hope the CIS win, whoever it is....
DeathmasterSniktch
TIE Defender is an awesome high-end fighter but it still has a Pilot and can't make such hard maneuvers as the TRI Fighter...
smaller target, armed to the teeth...
and even if the Fighter blows up.... better a droid than an living pilot
Tie Defender!
Johnny Shadow: Which one, the pre-Disney EU which is now legends model of the Tie Defender or the victim of plot armor tie defender prototype in the now Disney star wars?
I agree. I think the TIE Defender would have been a better choice for a few of the roles Allen wants to fill.
The Disney Tie Defender doesn't even have to worry about G-forces. Pilots can just stand up inside it whilst it twirls all over.
For me dude, it would be the Tie Defender legends model. Best starfighter in the Tie Fighter game published by Lucasarts. The disney version is unfortunately vastly underpowered.
Aye the legends variant
I would just add the B-Wing for a capital ship engagement Starfighter and then it's the perfect flight of starfighters. Please do vehicles next!
Umm T-wing, and A-wing, B-wing for support ships demolition=DREAM TEAM
Do ground vehicles next, also love when you do this.
Tie-Defender
YES! ABSOLUTELY! Paired with Tie/Phantoms.
T-65 killers. My ship of choice for anything.
Tie Defender will always be the best!
@@bastionaudio a bomber dropping Mandolorians into combat is far more terrifying
I would use the Tie Defender instead of the X wing
isnt the tie defender a fighter/bomber like the b wing?
If the games are anything to go by, the TIE Defender could literally do everything, and perform each role better than even specialized craft. It was just very expensive.
really really expensive
I think id either use an X-Wing or the Naboo Starfighter
I would use tri fighter as an interceptor. Purely technically just as good as A wing maeby better. You dont need hyperdrive because you are intercepting fighters near capital ships or bases. Also you can have lot of them, good thing for interceptor.
it could be made even better if it was piloted remotely, by pilots on a capital ship farther back in the fight, kind of like the drones used by the United States Millitry.
Well the a wing was faster and had ... shields!
What about the TIE Defender? It's an incredibly op ship, faster than the A-Wing, shielded, has a hyperdrive, and heavily armed with 6 laser cannons and ordinance launchers
Bountyjack2 Make it a special or black ops forces division then.
Bountyjack2 it could fill a specialist defense role. Defending capital ships/heavy bombers.
There's also been a few implied collapses in Legends that set the whole galaxy back for a while, which certainly wouln't have helped.
A second, larger one was already under construction, and in legends, the prototype had been left to gather dust once it had proven to be a workable concept.
yes, I spend way too much brain power picking apart Star Wars, and I hope the franchise will recover from the poisoning JarJar Abrams has caused.
me too
big7558 You can also see it with the Rebels.
Couldn't you develop a modular fighter that could be adapted based on the pilot's need, while developing dedicated variants afterwards.
so a starfury from babylon five
zeonthefox really, I never really knew mach about it beyond the basics since I was a kid when the show was first on air.
you could but you still suffer from the jack of all trades problem with the core. the capabilities of a craft relies on the entire package, not just what is tacked on to it. your core craft would have to have the key systems like the reactors, engines, life support, cockpit and so on. at this point you may as well make an entire craft based on this. the tie series actually comes the closest to puling this off with many fighter variants having the same ball cockpit with diffrent wings.
You should do a video on the Republic Commando series or just the Skirata Clan in general. Love the content keep up the good work.
I love the idea of the tri-fighter as a wingman. it allows it to perform the interceptor role it is best at, but also not be so mundane in it's tactics
My list:
Fighter Wing: TIE/sf (pilot and co-pilot, shields)
Interceptor: RZ-2 A-Wing (just better)
Space superiority: E-Wing (better X-wing)
Fighter/bomber: K-wing (big payload)
In-atmosphere: TIE striker
Ground attack: Y-Wing
Gunship: U-Wing (you're right, It's pretty much superior in every way)
To protect my fleet: TIE Striker (fast, manuverable, durable),
Stealth: Same as yours
I'd also take a Skipray as long-range patrol craft. It can also double up as a bomber or a troop transport if the need arises
Василий Данилов I guess I also forgot about the TIE/D. Whoops.
I completely agree
The E-wing was prone to failure, though. A T-70 as used by the Resistance could prove a more reliable alternative.
It wasn't in the mass development stage so it still had a few things to work out
I think You could further better this starfighter core by replacing the T-65 X-wing with the more advanced T-70, and replace the RZ-1 A-wing with the improved RZ-2
Interceptor: T.I.E. interceptor with additional chin mounted cannons and shielding
Long range figther: X-wing
Elite fighter: T.I.E. defender
Short range bomber: T.I.E. punisher/interdictor
Long range bomber: Y-wing (light bomber) & B-wing (heavy bomber)
Air superiority & CAS: T.I.E. striker with shielding
Recon: A.R.C.-170
6:18 Thank you. That always bugged me about the old republic mmorpg.
Ideal starfighter corps:
In-space superiority: T-65B X-Wing Starfighter
Interceptor: RZ-1 A-Wing Starfighter
Troop transport: LAAT/s (stealth, equipped with hyperdrive)
Anti-capital ship: ARC-170 Starfighter
Ground support: Republic-era Y-Wing Bomber
Bomber: Kom’rk-Class Mandalorian Starfighter
Aerial superiority: TIE Striker
4:16 I would keep the rear gunner. You never know, when you need it
A-wing: Interceptor.
B-wing: Tactical bomber (Mostly torpedo bomber with some additional composite beam variants added in)
X-wing: Air superiority
U-wing: Drop ship
YT-1300: Strategic bomber. (Quad cannons, heavy armor, redundant shielding systems, several bomb bays spread across the ship.
YT-2400: Gunship / siege breaker. (Sato's hammer design with Kenner outrider side mounted cannon) (2 x twin laser cannons, cockpit mounted laser cannon, side mounted heavy laser cannon, composite beam firing mode, upgraded armor, redundant shielding and energy generation to power composite beam weapon.)
Now you should do a dream fighter core of ships from all of sci-fi. Be surprised at how maneuverable the Star Furies from Babylon 5 are.
Fighter wing: Vulture Droids
Interceptors: Tri-fighter
Space Superiority: X-wing
Bomber/fighter: B-wings
In atmosphere: Z-95 Headhunter
Ground attacks: Hyena Bombers
Gunship: LAAT
To protect the fleet and screen for fighters: A-wing
Recon: Tie Defender
And for Stealth: Tie Phantom
All to escorted on a Venator and Droid command ship. What do you think of my choices for fighters and there rolls?
"You'll end up with a fighter that is just average at everything" I feel a great disturbance in the force, it is as if a thousand Lockheed sales reps suddely cried out and suddenly rage quit. /s
Jonathan Schmidt I loved that jab at the F-35
I feel like the problem isn't Lockheed, the problem is that the DoD brass have no idea what they're doing.
After admiring the joke, I must concur with your opinion.
themetalstickman They know what they're doing.
I would use the tie fantom or the longprobe y-wing for recon, the trifighter as a interceptor and vulture droid as a droid fighter
Carrier wing - Droid tri-fighters as point defense/screen craft.
Recon/intercept A-Wing
Space Superiority, mix of X-wings and Tie Defenders. Tie defenders configured for PURE Anti-fighter, with missiles... X-wings using torps and doing multi-roll fighter bomber.
Attack: Bwing in the anti-shipping, Y-wings in air to ground.
My Starfighter Dream Team
T-70 X Wing
TIE Silencer
RZ-2 A Wing
TIE Striker
TIE Interceptor.
Y-Wing
T-65 X Wing
U-Wing
All I need is an army of R2 D2
Umbaran Starfighter!
Main fighter- ARC-170
Interceptor- Droid Tri fighter
Bomber- K wing
Recon- Tie defender
Gunship- HMP (droid gunship)
Drop ship-LAAT (republic drop ship with modifications to have shields)(HMP can drop droids)
2 Drop ship- Tie reaper (because a tie drop ship would be fast and that's what it needs to do, drop troops fast)
Interceptor: A-Wing
Space Superiority: X-Wing
Bomber/Heavy Assault: B-Wing
Close Escort: ARC-170
Ground Assault: LAAT
Close Air Support: Y-Wing (the X-Wing would fit if not available)
Elegance/diplomatic - Naboo Starfighter
Space superiority/general purpose - TIE Defender
Interceptor - Chiss clawcraft
Recon - stealthX
my list:
main fighter: (legends)tie defender (best fighter in star wars)
bomber: K-wing (huge payload but slow speed) and maybe hyena bomber (great speed but small payload)
interceptor: droid tri-fighter and RZ 2-A (better then RZ 1-A)
base defense fighter(fighter that can be deployed fast to defend the base): X-83 twintail (the best variant of the X-wing line)
boarding ship: kom'rk class fighter
in atmosphere: V-wing (although maybe not a fighter cuz it cant fly in space) and tie striker
ground bomber: Y-wing
transport: LAAT/I gunship(more troop capacity and able to carry ground vehicles) , U-wing (better fighter) and a droid gunship (transporting droids and superior firepower)
protect and screen fleet: tie-avenger or E-wing
reconnaissance: royal guard tie interceptor (best version of the interceptor)
cloaking and stealth: the GAR's experimental stealth ship with tie phantoms or the uzang-vong coral skipper
just looked down at the clock and have been watching this channel for 5 hours, i cant get enough!!
Me:spam's revan
like always XD
Obi-Wan Kenobi sir, what about the high ground?😉
Alfomar Dotillos there is no ground in space, that's why Obi-Wan hates flying
Obi-Wan Kenobi Don't mean to beat a dead meme there but...Hello there...
I find your lack of high ground, Disturbing.
My list:
Recon: darth Mauls Sith infiltrator
Atmospheric: weaponized T-16 skyhopper
troop deployment and gunshipping role: LAAT
Troop deployment: Lambda-class T4a shuttle
Interceptor: Tri-fighter
Fighter(space superiority) : A-wing
Fighter/Bomber: X-Wing
Bomber: Y-wing
Just some starfighters I whould like to use in a fighting force:
-ARC-170 (Anti capital/cruiser ship fighter)
-A-wing (Interceptor)
-K-wing (Bomber)
-X-wing (Anti starfighter fighter(repertition repetition))
I like the x-wing for starfighters, but my fav ship is the Millennium Falcon.
Fighter: TIE defender
Ground assault: TIE punisher
Interceptor RTZ2 A wing
Bomber: the gauntlet
Troop transport: LAAT gunship for large battles, u wing for strike missions
Support: Tri fighter
Atmosphere: Tie striker
Recon: arc-170/ tie aggressor
My list:
Swarm fighter: Vulture droid (it can be used for fleet defence, swarm attack, and be a light ground support in land mode)
Interceptor: Rz-2 A wing + Driod Tri fighter as the swarm interceptor (force the enemy to either engaged the 3 driod tri fighter or engaged the smart A-wing with the enemy falling prey to the A wing or tri fighter)
Space Superiority/multirole: T-70 Xwing (double as the mainline)
Fighter/Bomber: Tie Defender
Atmosphere Bomber: K-wing
Atmosphere fighter: same as u plus support form vulture and X-wing
Transport: U-wing
Gunship: Laat and Droid gunship
Long range: same u or Sith interceptor or the ghost
Stealth fighter: tie Phantom
The only problem with dis is can the economy support these many ships types
For me, the perfect fighter wing consists of the following:
-Tri-Fighters as an interceptor, it's faster and more maneuverable than the A-Wing and also it's a better armed droid fighter.
-Definitely need one general purpose craft, I would pick the E-Wing, just an upgraded X-Wing
-And for space superiority the TIE Defender is probably the best fighter in the history of the galaxy
-TIE Striker is fine as in-atmosphere but most of these ships can perform atmospheric missions too
-Definitely for the bomber and heavy bomber role I'd use the NR K-Wing it can do both
-Finally a bit of Missile Boats for bombing, dogfighting and pretty much everything
My Star Fighter Core
*Bomber* - New Republic, K-Wing
*Interceptor* - Chiss Claw Craft
*Space Superiority* - Tie Defender
*Troop Transport* - LAAT Gunship
*Support Craft* - Tie Defender
*Atmosphere* - Tie Striker
*Patrol* - ARC-170
Alright dig this generation tech
Space superiority craft-TIE Defender
Heavy Bomber- BWing
Interceptor- A wing
Recon Craft-Tie Phantom
Atmospheric Craft-Tie Striker
Landing Craft-LAAT
And to be economically sound make the LAAT our ground support craft as it has a massive payload optimal for air to ground firing
Patrol Craft- V-19 torrent.
*long range armed recon ops: TIE Defender
*ground and atmospheric operations: K-Wing for heavy assaults and aerial support; U-Wing for troop transport; variants of the LAA/T for walker and heavy vehicle transport.
X wings T65 b for main fighters
A wings for interceptors
B wings for anti capital ships bombers.
V wings for air to air and air to ground (from the N64 Rogue squadron ) it it has rapped fire for strafing ground targets and cluster missiles that can target multiple ground and air targets.
Arc 170 for long range patrols
Y wing (rebel version) for heavy ground bombing.
Zakuul Dropship just with upgraded tech. And u wing dropships
And for my personal ship the Rouge Shadow the one star killer uses.
X-Wing/ tri fighter combo... Damn.
Favorite star fighter is the mandalorian interceptor/troop carrier, specifically, the version salvaged by bridger known as the “Night Brother”
Nothing says space superiority than..... the lusankya.
No one can beat the lusankya
ECLIPSE will cut Lysankya in half, or RAM IT
1:40 “ONE LAST DAB BEFORE I DIE”
Most roles depending on need: The Legends version of the TIE Defender.
Space/Air Bomber: MX-1 Nova Wing (the Missile Boat). Seriously, these two ships are just better at everything.
Atmosphere fighter: TIE Striker
Transport: The Laat Gunships are quite versatile.
Interceptors: Droid Tri-Fighter
Stealth: The TIE phantom
All in all i agree with your choices, but i would make two changes:
the stealth fighter of my list would be the TIE Phantom,
and add the TIE Hunter as a can-do-everything fighter.
Which battle ship and freighter would you use
Good video. If it was me I'll probably have some TIE Defenders go alongside the ARC-170s, but overall, this is a great starfighter corp
When reading one of the Now legends X-wing series books I noted that there was a system that kept the Gs in the cockpit of the X-wing at 1G, at least in space anyways.
The B-Wing. Always include the B-Wing.
I like this series, gj
It would be good for you if you keep making more :)
Space Superiority Fighter - Sienar Systems TIE Defender
Heavy Assault Fighter - Slayn & Korpil B-Wing
Fighter: TIE Defender + Missile Boat.
Interceptor: TIE Defender
Space Superiority: TIE Defender + Missile Boat
Multirole: TIE Defender
In Atmosphere: TIE Defender + Missile Boat
Ground Attack: Missile Boat
Gunship: LTTD (Star Wars version of Mi-24 Hind, so why not?)
Fleet Protection: TIE Defender + Missile Boat
Stealth: TIE Phantom
Recon - hyperdrive equipped Scarab droid fighter
Interceptor - Eta-2
Space Superiority - X-Wing
Air Superiority - Z-95
Bomber - Scurrg H-6 (Havoc variant)
Attack - Star Viper
Troop Transport - Y-4 Raptor and CR25 troop carrier
i would use the tri-fighters paired with a-wings for interceptors, the Y-wing that is equipped with better engines for a bomber, the X-83 twin tail for my superiority fighter, tie phantoms for recon, the B-wing as a heavy bomber, for atmosphere i would use the tie striker or if its allowed, the F-22 Raptor, for the flying missile class, I would use a Delta-7 aetherspite and for patrol i would use the skipray blastboat, i would also equip Ace's with tie defenders and E-wings. I also would add in fang fighters as wingmen for the kormric class assault ship
I love this series please do more!
I would use tie interceptors with life support shields and a hyperdrive plus y wings and x wings for bombing and escort rest I agree with you
Please keep this series up.
TIE Defender, Skipray Blastboat, T-70 X-wing(Black like Poe's), B-Wing, V-wing(airspeeder for atmo)
Cal (12.7mm) machine guns it works very well against fighters and bombers due to the sheer amount of firepower it has
What is your ideal fleet?
I agree with everything but the patrol craft. I would prefer the cloakship as for the cost of a tie fighter you get a ship that can get shields almost twice as good as an x-wing, hull strength better than an x wing a modifiable hyperdrive to take it from class 3 to class 2 or 1.5, and A spot for Astromechs it can hold out in a fight and if properly configured which a lot of people could do, you could have the droid pilot the ship when the enemy is not there so it would last so much longer!
I just got notified for this. Some comments are 1 day ago tho
Droid ships complementing human piloted ships is better than one or the other, as you both have quality ships and also have numerical superiority so that if an enemy gets on one of your human piloted ships, the droid wingmen could probably engage them
Best Starfleet Makeup next?
I would swap the arc170 and the xwing as they are equal in speed and probably not any noticeable difference in maneuverability in space plus the rear turret would keep the arc pretty projected from other craft and it can be a capable capital ship killer whereas using the xwing for patrol I'd imagine it'd be harder to detect and quicker than the arc170 (quicker not faster, there is a difference) allowing it to screen from afar with minimal risk. Either way though you can't go wrong
Bomber: Republic Y-wing
Interceptor: V-wing
Fighter: First Order Spec Ops TIE fighter
Atmosphere: TIE Striker
Patrol: ARC-170
Same as yours but replace the y wing with the b wing freighter with the tie d from legends and add a tie defender mixed with xwings
for troop transport use both u-wing and laat, while laat has more carrying capacity, the u-wing has a hyperdrive thus not needing another ship to transport it over longer distances
In ways, think of the UT-60D U-wing as a UH-1 Huey/UH-60 Blackhawk while the LAAT Series can be either CH-47 Chinooks or C-130 Hercules Transports.
I agree with all the choices but two. Space superiority goes to a TIE Defender. And droid fighter goes to the Ssi-ruuvi Battle Droid.
My ships
Twin tails:Space superiority
Tie defenders: Long range patrol craft's
Tie phantom:Stealth ship
T-85 xwing:Escort ship
LAAT gunship:Troop Transports
Tie-Punisher:Atmosphere bomber
K-wing:space bomber
Space-tri fighter and x-wings
Intercepted-a-wing
Bomber-y-wing
Recon-tie defender
Love the old republic strike class fighter
I guess there are only two categories left: Starships (not star fighters themselves, but it’d be a nice side note to mention which ships carries which fighters that you’ve mentioned in this video) & Armor (just be sure you specifically mention which of your listed soldiers are in whatever(s)).
IF there was another, then it’d better be a story worth expressing.
Tie defender. The ultimate all purpose Starfighter
You need both a Dream Fleet and a Dream Land Army, maybe all linked.
I think this is a great one, but I do have a few changes for me. Replace the y-wing with the k-wing or tie interdictor. Swap the u-wing with the HMP. This is my thoughts thought.
the HMP is no good with human ground forces and the interdictor/k-wing has no hyperdrive which is vital for hit and run
