Hi Mark, these are a masonry torx frame fixing. You can buy these from Screwfix . Hope this helps 👍🏻

I was wondering, if you need to replace your door and it has a transom above it, is it possible to remove it and brick/board it up and get a new door for the opening that's left? Or would you always need to have a transom to fill the gap? Does it have structural properties? Great install lads thanks

Hi Kermit, we would always look at replacing the door, side frame or top light at the same time. However it is sometimes possible to keep these in place depending on the condition. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Stephen

When fitting the door to the cill is it fitted dry or do you run silicone on the top the cill? Just had a solidor fitted and was fitted dry. Previous upvc door was siliconed in to the cill

Hi Chris, apologies for the slow reply. Yes, always seal the cill to the pvc frame or aluminium low thresholds. This will stop driving rain or water when cleaning back tracking into the property. The seal will also stop any draught. Thanks for watching and your question, Stephen

We want to have our own choice of knocker installed, as solidor don't offer the one we want.
Just wondering if drilling into the door and using our own could invalidate the warranty?
If installers install the knockers themselves anyway then I would assume it's irrelevant whether or not it's a knocker supplied by solidor?
    Thanks!

Hi, thank you for watching. I would check with your installer and have them install your knocker. This shouldn’t be a problem however if fault or damage is caused due to the knocker then Solider wouldn’t provide a warranty.

Hi, we have had very few issues considering the amount of doors we install. Any issues we have had get resolved under the 10 year guarantee. We buy all our Solidors direct from Solidor meaning no third party manufacturing issues with the product or any future guarantees. A genuine Solidor installed by a highly recommend firm is the way to go.

hi there, How would I change my normal composite door to have a paddle handle type that won’t open outside unless the key is used
    Many thanks

Hi, depending on the lock type you can change the handle to a split spindle option quite easily. Google split spindle door handle. Hope this helps.

How's the door been? Any warping? There seem to be lots of bad reviews about solidor

    • @mcdermottwindows9470

Hi Tim, We haven’t had any issues with this door. Unfortunately not all installers follow the guidelines on how to install the door correctly so this can cause issues, any genuine manufacturing issues are covered under their guarantee and a replacement is provided. Another potential reason for issues with a Solidor is that not all Solidor Composite doors on the market come directly from Solidor, originally Solidor allowed other manufacturers to manufacture their door slab into a different outer frame frame and use their own fixtures and fittings etc.. this lead to issues as people were using the wrong gaskets, not correctly making the door the right size to work with the different tolerances in their profile specific outer frames and on some occasions just making a poor job of manufacturing. Solidor no longer offer this to the wider market and keep it to a minimum of selected manufacturers who follow the correct guidelines to making their doors. We aren’t saying all reviews are based on this but this did contribute to a larger proportion of negative reviews. Any issues with a genuine Solidor that has been installed correctly by an approved installer is covered under the Solidor Guarantee. Hope this information helps. Many thanks, Emma

@@mcdermottwindows9470 it certainly does. How is the end user supposed to know how the door has been sourced though? The avarage person like me gets a double glazing company in to fit a door and if they say they supply solidor it really means it could be the real deal or not, but you woudlnt know. Too many negative reviews on trust pilot is always a worrying sign.

Hi Tim, if you go on Solidor website and use find a recommended installer in your area they tell you who provides genuine Solidors or provide an alternative. The green heart represents a genuine Solidor and the brown heart tells you it’s a Solidor at heart but they make their own. Again it’s not that all issues are related to this as some do a very good job of making their own and Solidor do monitor this a lot closer now but it does just make it easier for any future guarantees along with a recommended installer.
