Oris is a brand I do respect.

Really nice to see you review timepieces at this affordable price point, thot Oris in no mean a high horology watch marker but they produce awesome timepieces! I always have a soft spot for Oris as their boy's size pointed date started my love for watches some 25years back. If i'm correct, Oris still is an independent brand as of now. Great review Tim.

Oris had a couple of *thousands* of employees in their factory when Rolex was just getting started.
Together with Montblanc they're the best value / $ you can get right now.
Crazy thing is that in person...both Oris and Montblanc look waaay waaay better and more expensive than TagHeur and even some Omegas.
      They're that good.

@@SpaghettiKillah that is why Oris hv history & they truly deliver fantastic timepieces at a very affordable price point. Real capable diver watch below 2k seriously apart from Seiko (not including micro brands),,, couldn't think of any others. Could be the only watch marker from Swiss able to do this. Having using ETA movement does have it advantages, plentiful of parts available & cheap to service.

your flow and verbiage is really catchy, entertaining and impressive. Reminds me almost of the guys that talk at auctions. I enjoyed this presentation a lot. Thanks

I've had one of these with the blue face for about a week now. It really is a very nice watch, and keeping good time too (out by around a second a day). Although a nice feature, I'd say the glass back is pretty pointless - you never see it, and when you do, there's really not much to see, to be honest. For the price, and with the ceramic bezel, I'd say it's really good value.

Great watch. Bought its subdued brother (matte black dial, bushed case & bracelet). This version is the luxe version in my opinion. 5 years on wrist and it continues to impress.

I like the gloss bezel better and it even has a dive extension. People in the know, know Oris. 👍

I purchased the 41.5 mm without handling it in person. Fit and finish is solid but I don't believe it is worth its price. The Christopher Ward c60 trident pro v3 is a much better value while offering the same level of quality and features.

I would've kept mine if the name was at the 12 o'clock. Absolutly love the light catcher case.

I remember seeing a passage from Oris user manual on accuracy, where they were somewhat blaze about watches running 20+ sec p/d. What's the accuracy like on an Aquis? I like Oris for a number of reasons and I totally applaud their move to hand-wound in-house movements but I can't shake off the impression that they're not serious about accuracy and not bothered to regulate properly. I mean, on 110 / 111 / 115 they have just one massive mainspring - that alone worries me somewhat as accuracy is the one reason why I'm still keen on Rolex, and Omega's 2 barrels even more so. We've all seen what a single big spring did to IWC BP's timekeeping manners. If I'm behind the curve on this one - more than happy to be proven wrong.

I tested accuracy with the green dial one, and noted 10 secs gain a day. Although it is not a big deal for me.

Mine ran pretty well, about +5 secs/day. As for Rolex, my Explorer ran +4 secs/day right after returning from service, I wasn't impressed.

This is the smallest 43.5 mm I've tried, fit feels closer to a 40 than a 44.

    • @ElliotDrinksWater
      @ElliotDrinksWater 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah I've tried this and a modern Submariner on together and they really do wear the same, despite the almost 4mm difference

James Pålsson I don’t know about that it wears more like a 41.5mm watch....I have a ton of 40mm watches. Side note: I sold mine and am so so happy to hear the recent release of an actual 41.5mm- THAT will wear like a 40mm!!!

Love seeing Oris on the channel, Tim!! I was wondering why I haven’t seen more of the Aquis Big Day Dates either in the grey market, TH-cam, etc. I took a look on their website and was impressed with what I saw but maybe I am missing something. I know the symmetry of the Aquis date is something that people have come to love but any insight as to why the day date sibling seems to be one of the lesser variations of the Aquis line?

Whatever the stated accuracy of a standard Sellita SW-200-1 is so around +-12, can be even up to +-30 seconds per day. It's not a chronometer.

I really like this watch but I feel like the bracelet is tapered too much. That really looks odd to me...and I don't like the hands...I'd prefer something like sword hands but those are just personal preferences.

For the price point you wouldn't expect applied indices? That is a $1400 watch bud, I've got 20 year old Bulova watches that cost a fraction of that and they have applied indices.

I bought a new Oris Aquis on which the crown stem popped out within the first few days of ownership. Oris wanted to send it off for repair quoting a 6-8 week turn around. Thankfully I paid for it via Paypal who forced the seller to refund my money. Oris we TOTALLY were uninterested in helping me. I'd never touch the brand again.

    • @Billeh556

You’re literally the first person ever to say an Aquis is derivative, it’s totally and completely it’s own design and looks like nothing else on the market. Please share with us what watch it’s derivative of and if you say a sub well then every freaking dive watch has common key design characteristics to a “sub” and it looks nothing like a sub
