Actually if you think about it, in terms of boot space the main determiner is not whether you have a lot of things to bring but if you usually ferry people or travel on your own/with a single passenger. A hatch with folded seats (as shown here) can sometimes be more useful for porting certain items. The differentiator is that a sedan can still carry plenty of luggage with four passengers, not so the hatch.
For color guard, we have to bring six foot long flag poles with us to comps and to practice. sedans just aren't big enough to store the flag even diagonally. but the hatch back was able to. for me, i the biggest downside of the hatchback is the increased cabin noise. but the extra space is a strong practical advantage. basically, if you're going be driving more often with passengers: get sedan cargo: get hatchback
Thank you for the good sharing. Sedan has more trunk space compare to hatchback. Even though the hatchback has smaller trunk space, if we manage to storage nicely, we can maximize the trunk space.
THANK YOU for mentioning the Yaris has more rear headroom than the Vios but is true. all the people I know insist vios has more headroom which is not true. Because they’re short, they dont know the struggle so I don’t blame them. 😂
It depends. I loved my hatchback, but am leaning more towards a sedan as my next car. It really depends on your preference as you can make both work unless you know there will be situations where you will need a hatchback design frequently.
I would call the Vios as Yaris Sedan rather than Yaris as Vios Hatchback. Yaris is more of a global product like Polo, Peugeot 208, Mazda2. And slapping a boot is more to accommodate niche market like southeast Asia.. Either sedan or hatch, you won't go wrong with a Toyota..
Really useful points you guys covered. Crispy and crystal clear video about sedan or hatchback. Thank you keep rocking.. I feel hatchback is good and value for money.
Very informative video. I have always loved my sedans with the security of the trunk and they are so quiet in the cab, but my next vehicle will be a hatchback. A hatchback is basically a pickup with a topper, except that it gets the same mpg as a car. I want to be able to throw a car engine or transmission in the back of it when I get parts at the salvage yard 600 miles away. My 9 mpg pickup doesn't cut it for long trips like that. The reason I always hated hatchbacks over the years is that dust and dirt build up on the back window on gravel roads and you have to look through that little hole that the windshield wiper makes and lots of times it is streaky. For the mpg I will make the sacrifice though.
i thought my 12 mpg suv was bad 😂 i can't imagine getting less than 10mpg. anyway, i have a Honda fit, subcompact hatchback. nice car. 32 mpg which is awesome. but i hate driving friends in it. we all prefer driving in the SUV, but practically speaking, people drive alone more often than with passengers so my hatchback gets more miles than SUV, despite my liking the SUV more
@@johndelapena3484 I actually just bought a 2008 Honda Fit automatic this summer before fall semester at college. I usually get 36 mpg during the summer and am getting 32 mpg during the winter. I commute 75 miles roundtrip. I love how much power this car has! It is happiest at 80 mph.
@@bobochan4699 I have hauled a silverado's transfer case in my Honda FIT. I layed a piece of plywood down first and there are 4 eyelets in the back like a pickup for securing the transfer case.
Personally it depends on the person and the country you live in. I’d choose sedan to hatchback since it gives more prestige. Which for me is more important than young perception for example. However, I would probably opt for an SUV to drive daily since the versatility to go on bad roads is more needed. While the sedan be used for more special occasions. Hence get a camry class sedan and a SUV class Vios (does that make sense? I hope it does)
i went with a hatchback because i have to move furnitures sometimes. and ikea shopping lol. easier to park. but i would imagine sedans being better at high speed and at handling though. anyhows, the first car, practicality is the most important. and so hatchback.
Especially when i want to carry bicycles, any station wagon, hatchback or SUV will be the best without any problem . The boot space of a sedan maybe large but that does not translate to clever ultisation of boot space to its fullest like able to put in a bicycle, hence creating unnecessary problems due to cargo space . Sedan design age much faster than hatchback . hatchback design is way more evergreen over the years . Safety of sedan with a boot length is not necessary safe if the material use is of "Milo Tin" strength. Fuel consumption of sedan is way more thirstier. Most people are buying SUV rather than any C or D segment sedan nowadays. Sales volume of SUV speak for itself . Only our grandfather time, they will buy big sedan for the extra boot space because there were no SUV or MPV way back then Overall winner will still be SUV, hatchback or station wagon as seen in most western countries and many Asian countries are not way behind also Gone are the days , people will buy C or D segment sedan but not anymore .
Hatchback looks better and if you want to bring bigger things like a sofa it's the best solution instead in than out because of the weather the pollution outside. So there's no comparison.
Wonder which would be better for the highway. Would the hatch be worse off at high speeds 110km/h than the sedans due to the lighter weight and poorer aerodynamics? Or would the difference be negligible with modern day aero engineering measures? I suppose aero would have significance on a light hatches like an axia, at speeds of 110/120. Just my bathroom time thoughts. 🚽 🤷♂️
Hatchbacks are usually less aerodynamic, but newer hatchbacks have gotten better with a more sedan like trunk instead of it being straight down in the back.
Wah gc mah.. If someone comes up to you and say... heyy gc mah i am planning to buy a rolls royce phantom. Will you accept that or would you stick with a hatchback
A hatchback only looks good if it was designed purely to be a hatchback. The Yaris and the coming city hatchback looks ugly cos its a chopped up sedan.

Sedan for family with luggage. Hatchback for single/couple with/without luggage.
I literally bought yaris simply because I like how it looks!
lawa yaris...selalu berangan nk beli keta ni 😂

The looks of the Yaris gives off a sporty feel like the Satria and EK Civic hatchback, just my opinion though.
Same bro. Same. 🤟🏻😌
Yaris and Jazz looks way better than Vios and City
I personally like hatch for A-B Segment, sedan for C-D Segment also no suv

Hatchback always looks good!
Look at the Yaris and Vios, Mazda2 hatchback and sedan, and also Mazda3 liftback and sedan.
I want Wagon. Bigger boot space than a sedan , similar to SUV boot space without comprising handling.
But sadly, wagon not as famous as sedan and hatchback here in Malaysia
@@muhammadyasier5301 it’s not famous in ASIA
It’s more of an European product with some popularity is US
"the hatchback is pre-crumbled". nice one GC

Very clear explanation... I like it. THATS why ppl say there is no perfect car in the world!
After considering either sedan or hatchback, i finally choose Vicky😍😍😁
lol
Hatchback is better looking but better to chose a sedan for rear passinger safety especially rear end collision,.

I got the Vios recently, and apart from the (long) time it takes to accelerate, I love the new technological and comfort features!
Yaris hatchback ftw!

My perm white Yaris G just reach last days !look very nice 💕💕💕 best Toyota
An Estate/station wagen are the best! Wish we have more option for an estate model here in msia....

Why Yaris no GR sport while it suppose to target sporty, young, dynamic driving
Agreed, should have one
Cud be coz of the Yaris GR existence even the price is not for most of us.. 😄
If Yaris had this GR sport, I would definitely buy it. It would be a great budget 'sport' car.
A very good review decision that can make buyers easily to go either sedans or hatchback.

the yaris just has better proportions. sedans look cheap when its tall and have tiny wheels. but the extra boot space is a huge plus.

I like the middle, wagon the best 🤣🤣🤣
Still a sedan guy, if I have a lot to haul I will hire some to do.. As I seldom move things.
For sure go with a hatchback, might hv trouble parking with a sedan in tight spaces
I choose Toyota Yaris Hatchback
Sedan gives you a more “mature” look which I like 👍

Quick question. Which is has better fuel economy.
Very good! I am just in the choosing stage between the 2😀
Also with a sedan, hvac system is more efficient because the air isn't going into the cargo space.
Where Does This Car Made? pls Answer
Which one has bigger tyre?
whenever i make a trip to IKEA, that's when I wish I'm driving a hatchback or suv
also u can consider a wagon or estate..practical and safe since it is bigger than normal hatchback

100% Hatchback
Sedan or hatchback? I want station wagon/estate!!
Good review but among all the hatchbacks I like the hyundai 2011-2017 hatchback, its beauty astonished me
The rear of the sedan looks clean
Sedans feel stable on high speeds compared to hatchback..
GC give me a fastback anytime, not a sedan or a hatchback
Great video. Thank you
Ok which one more cheap?
I have a proton saga and a seda ofc but my grandpa have a myvi

Universal…..longer the car……more the status. A lot of families have both. Sedan & hatchback. Use according to the needs

Hatchback always.. yaris for car rental.

Thank you sir.
Nice review Toyota Vios ..
Toyota Yaris lol
I would personally pick the Vios GR Sport and Vicky yong. Vicky yong you so beautiful 🥰🌹🌹🌹
That cat noise was great
How about SUV ?
Toyota should bring Yaris Sedan and Yaris Hatchback to India
for me ill take the Vicky GRS version anyday
Hatchback more better 💯❤️🔥
I would appreciate it if Toyota can make rear ultra seats like the Honda. This is the only reason i prefer honda City
Hatch back
Of course Vios GRS wins! The Yaris looks better than previous model but not updated as new as Yaris GR
i prefer hatchback because its cute has more power engine but its way to expensive tho than the vios
I loves sedan because of JDM cars
I consider seden
Wah gc mah.. If someone comes up to you and say... heyy gc mah i am planning to buy a rolls royce phantom. Will you accept that or would you stick with a hatchback
I see GC I like then watch
If I only have 1 car, definitely sedan.
This video have me somethings to consider but if I'm honest I still can't choose🤔
you can put a mattress in the hatch and sleep in it
Fuiyoo got lenglui

Hatchback

Sedan is more like "proper" car but i can't deny that hatchback is more practical & functional especially for everyday use
I prefer sedan when taking out trash, buying fresh fish, or smelly clothes or smelly and dirty shoes
Damn cool
