I was also expecting to see a liftback. It is a huge question for me why car manufacturers don’t do all sedans more practical and don’t make them as a liftbacks.
I'd consider the rx8 to be a 2 door sports coupe because it has no b pillar when the doors are open thus classing it as having essentially 'multi-piece doors'

It's not very common now days especially here in the US, but one style I feel you could have mentioned was the UTE. It's more common in Australia. We had them at one point, but ditched out on the design.

It's just such a hideous car though 😭
The BMW gran coupe is actually a hatchback or a liftback, since the glass also lifts along with the metal part when opening the boot.
@@aadi8568 it's a fastback, like most skoda sedans
@@robinvictor8507 fastback is just a further classification of Hatchback. And also on skodas website they call their cars Hatchbacks (Octavia hatch, superb hatch). So it would not be incorrect to call the BMW gran coupes hatchbacks
That's exactly what he was talking about at 5:10 😂 "looking at you bmw"
The video is informational and I appreciate it. Still, as people have already complained about it in the comments, I'm gonna reiterate the same sentiment that the video REALLY needed more pics when he was talking about different body types and cars.
BOI how dare you not feature
THE UTE!
AUSIE AUSIE AUSIE!
cause the title said 'CARS' nah just kidding .. but is it UTE or CargoCar or minitruck or Elcamino/ranchero style .hummm
I like to refer to the ute as the commodore/falcon version or the el camino of old, even a lowlux.. but the big ass work vehicles like f150s or the tall, 4cyl hilux and Mazda BT50 etc are just trucks to me now.

A video every single day and they're all about cars.
Donut media is COMPLETELY killing it!
You forgot liftback.
Also, station wagons and estates are often called combi in the European market.
"Wasn das für'n Kömbi??"
Combi's are mostly hatch-backs but is more cars that is not a fully wagon. like example the last gen Mazda 323F (first one was a propper coupe) and the old Suzuki Ignis.
to flat in the butt to be an hatchback but really lacking the space for being an wagon
in Scandinavia we did not use the term "hot-hatch" or "hatchback" at all but "combi-coupe's"
and then we have the "Shooting Brake". the definition for that is a 2-door wagon so the Mercedes is flying false flag, but calling it an Sportwagon on the other hand...
@@brrebrresen1367 Almost all wagons sold in Europe are just extended hatchbacs like the i30sw in the us they were made from scratch 11
what about saloon?
I was also expecting to see a liftback. It is a huge question for me why car manufacturers don’t do all sedans more practical and don’t make them as a liftbacks.

Both use the same aerodynamic shape to cut through air resistance for separate reasons: Speed and Fuel Economy. Not uncommon in the car world.

I just love that when I have to tell an app what type of vehicle I’m in, like for Target Drive Up, I have to scroll passed all the many possible body styles and select “other.” I keep wondering if the employee is all excited wondering what kind of vehicle “other” is, and it turns out, it’s just a convertible with the top down.
Can you do next about "levels" of cars?
Like mid-range sedan, GT cars, touring cars etc.
Could have used more pictures of the cars instead of just talking about them.
Best subtitle splits I've seen in a while. You don't have to add unnecessary line breaks though.
Coupes and Wagons are my favorite.
Also, sometimes when I see listings for mini vans for sale, they call them wagons, and I have no clue why.

It's not very common now days especially here in the US, but one style I feel you could have mentioned was the UTE. It's more common in Australia. We had them at one point, but ditched out on the design.
The ute is basically a pickup truck.

One that was missed was hardtops both 2 and 4 door. These chars had no b piller it was to offer a solid roof of a sedan and the air flow of a convertible. Wonderfully informative video.

In German sedans are called "Limousine" for example the Mercedes S-Klasse is a Limousine
But even the 2 door Trabant is called a "limousine"...which is...a 2 door sedan? or a coupe? also, it is interesting, that the beetle is a coupe too, altho it is so different from all the other coupes.
The s class is not a good example because it's on the brink to limousine in english aswell.
long ones
Yes but tell to Audi fanboy he drive a combi, he goes apeshit because it's avant.....
And other car brands call it a tourer
There really needs to be a good distinguish between "off-roader" SUV cars like a land rover,
And the crappy, big, fuel wasting and not offroad SUV cars that families drive, often badly
Or jeep and mercedes g-klass
Land cruisers too
Crossovers? People will call them SUVs anyway because too many terms for non car guys will confuse them if they look the same to them.
Absolutly!
The Suzuki Jimny for example is obviously no SUV - even for non car guys
ESPneinDanke I mean the Jinny’s actually kinda capable? Same with the Land Rovers in all honest, it’s just nobody uses them as such.
19:53 don't worry, you can say JFK

In Britain, a Sedan is called a “Saloon” - I’m not from Britain - I’m Canadian 🇨🇦eh 😎
same eh
They also call estates and station wagons Variant sometimes.
in Germany we call them Limousine
@Mitchell Pope only for VWs
I just googled.. It seems a Sedan is for the comfort of the front row passengers and a Saloon is for the rear seated passengers.. LOL
The confusion between coupes and sedans started WAY back in the 50's.
You had car models that came in 5-6 body types, take the 59' Impala for example, you had a 2 door coupe, 2 door hardtop, 2 door sedan, 4 door sedan, 4 door hardtop, and station wagon, maybe even 2, and that was the case with lots of models back then.
"Cities are quite packed and parking is a nightmare" sounds like downtown Honolulu!
And New York, and Chicago, and Tokyo, and Beijing, and Shanghai, and Paris... and.... :D:D:D
But why didn't you explain the saloon?
