I think using the Snootch Rocket in the 56 is a GREAT idea, what the heck else good is the Rocket, honestly? Then at least all the work that went into that thing will pay off AND you'll have a super budget friendly 56 on the lot!! Sweet it's a win win!! edit: as far as the JesStar (awesome back in it's day, I'm sure) Mortske as life goes, you WIN some and you LOSE all the rest!! At least you kinda got a video out of it..
Mojo is a walking man of knowledge. ❤ I always tell people they should always listen to the older generations. They have been around for many years and have tons of knowledge just waiting to passed on to other people.
One of the best things about going to sleep on Sunday night is knowing tomorrow is Mortske Monday. Visions of Duff Dog doing zoomies and rides while Sir Thomas demonstrates the engineering workload his profession entails with the understated and deadpan humor of Alexander Woollcott sipping libations at the Algonquin Round Table. Bravo! Love the Duff!
Greatly appreciate you beating yourself up with these will it run videos 😊 but it’s just as entertaining when you take us along for a day for a slice of life 👍 much respect ✊
40 50 thousand hundred = 200 million, that's old. Mojo is a genius video him more....yes please put the snootch rocket frame and motor in the 56 crown vic, that is a cool car. You, Duff, and Mojo keep up the good work
Do you watch Tyler's forgotten car rescue channel on TH-cam?? I don't know if he still has it but he had a very I believe a 63 lower mileage because it was wrecked when it was a practically new car and garage and parked,he acquired a different doghouse for it it I believe is a dynamic 88 it's green it's on his channel..
What a beauty! Man, I would have fallen for it as well, if only, if only…. Thanks, as usual, for sharing this with the TH-cam boys and girls from around the world and lift our spirits! Keep ‘em coming, greatly appreciated!
I think your on to something with the 56. I'd be down to see it back on the road. Great video need more people like you saving the old stuff from becoming a Pepsi can.
I could never understand how someone could let a car like the crown vic sit and rot away they have timeless style. Not sure how you could make it happen but it would be awesome to see it being used again. Oh yeah cartman loves a red rocket as well.
Well that’s a bummer that the Olds red rocket turned out to be a dud 😕 Hopefully someone out here in the TH-cam world is looking for one and give it a good home. As always thank you, Mr Mortske, for doing what you do! Tip of the cap goes to Mojo for that rusted shock tip! 😁
Snootch Rocket swap in the 56 would be a good winter project. Because you don't have enough projects! Always fun to see the old stuff getting worked on.
What a shame that this car was too far gone to be saved. It would have been a pretty sweet car back in its prime. And 1964 was the first year for the Olds 442, it's possible that those buckets seats might be the same. Or you might find someone with a 442 or Cutlass, that has a bench seat and they want buckets and possibly even that console. Good luck with it, and thanks for the video
I always liked the styling that Olds had back then. Learned something new about the speedo tying to the front wheel. That car must have spent a few of its earlier years in Illinois or Wisconsin judging by the rust. The interior is a save along with the glass. I have a 64 Olds radio in my collection as the guy who was scrapping one back in 74 gave it to me. Still fire it up every now and again.
Mortske, props to Mojo for calling that. I never would've guessed. I also would've sh** my pants when that shock released. There are a few things that scare me - lots of tension, high voltage electricity (3 phase or bigger), grinding wheels, and scissor jacks. That olds is a pretty sleek looking car, too bad Olds has been defunct for like 20+ years (yeah, I know, 1990 was like 5 years ago, don't you feel the same?) That Impala you had was really damn cool. I wish I could've justified the 15 for it... until then I'll continue adding obscure cars to my checklist of crap I want to own. Finding the right older car that isn't beaten to snot is tough man!
One of my favorite model cars to build has been the 56 Ford Victoria. I always thought it was a nice elegant car. Nice find. Don't see those ever. That 64 Olds must have been up mid doors in water. Or the windows were left down and rained in the car a ton before it was put in the barn. I have only seen that much floor gone when it is a convertible. The 56 was certainly the best car in this video
The ‘56 Vicky takes me back to the late 50’s when Dad was buying cars like these to drive them back and forth to work in the iron mines. It’s true, that on a still but humid night in Minnesota, you could hear those cars rust away. I will always respect and have a place in my heart for ‘55-‘57 Ford Vicky’s and Fairlanes. Well actually any Ford from ‘57 on back to Henry’s first 1903 Model A.
I have a 65 Olds 88 I bought for the 425 c.i. engine that I installed in a 67 Olds Cutlass. The Cutlass had a trans speedo cable but the 88 went to the wheel. Thanks for the video 👍
I’d like to see you do the ‘56 Vicky. Everyone builds 55-57 Chevys, which makes them somewhat boring. A ‘56 Crown Vic has such great style and isn’t often seen. It would be a great build series. Love your show. It’s one of the few things that helps with my depression, for which I thank you. Pease my friend, DrRick
Our shop worked on a lot of the 55 56 Fords back in the 60's, and a lot of the upper trim models had the power steering. One our customers had a fleet of 54 Ford school buses running 279 Lincoln Y Blocks and they all had power steering too. Love the Victoria body style and would be an interesting project for sure. All 64 Jet Stars came with the 394/HydraMatic. Too bad this one is so far gone. They were hot machines back in their day. Great parts car for somebody.
It looks like a great possibility online. Up close it's a little more work than anticipated. A good ran when parked candidate lol. Still, it's a semi decent 2 door car.
awesome the rear end release @17:09 just wonderful.glad your hand didnt get whacked -but i think you knew going in that there was going to be downward excitement ,great video keep up the good work
Those rear ends were used by a lot of drag racers cut down to use in those old front engine dragsters backin the day because they were known to be a strong differential .
The jack in the trunk is an older VW jack, and ironically, the only other speedo cable through the spindle/dustcap setup I know of is on early air cooled VW's as well.
VW jack in the trunk kinda nice to have We all have bought junk but you did make a very interesting video for me to watch this Monday morning. You never disappoint us watchers
That Jetstar is/was a nice lookin rig, but I have to agree, not with all that under body rust! Good idea for that crown. Maybe next time, thanks for the Mortske Monday!
My first car was a twin to yours, without the rust… I got it in 79, drove it for a year till the trans went out, reverse being at the rear of the shifting console was a strange design flaw too… thanks for bringing back some memories!👍🏻
When I was a kid back in 1971 we were living in Yuma Arizona! A neighbor had a red Jetstar like this. At the time I really liked the car. As much as I like the old Jetstars I never bought one. I was too busy with Camaros, Mustangs & Challengers. If it did not have so much weight reduction I would buy it. Thanks for posting!
Even on vacation I had to watch. Love 60’s olds. I was wearing you’re shirt in MB and guys asked me about it and I sent them to you’re TH-cam. Thanks for another awesome video Mort.
I have owned two Jetstar and my parents owned one which were all bench seat column shift cars. My Dad had the 1966 - 394 - 4BBL, remember traveling at night with Mom driving on our way to Florida and she was cruising at 100 mph . That car was so smooth and powerful. My 1964 Jetstar had the Ultra High Compression 330 - 4BBL and one day driving to Wisconsin I walked a Caddy down no problem. My 1966 had a 435 that someone had swapped in, ran good but not as good as the 330. Awesome cars and great memories which your channel brought back for me.
Those were respectable performers back when. Sadly this one has had it's day. Thanks for showing the side of the old car hobby we all dread, the ones we can't realistically save.

one day we will!
I absolutely love 55-57 Victorias and really want to see you put that beauty back on the road.
2004 is the newest Oldsmobile you can get.
Best thing I've seen on the show yet! Pretty neat car.
I’m so glad you pushed it to the curb, so many guys waste time and money on rotted out junk like that, hopefully someone can use some parts from it
Good to see somebody still putting out wrenchin videos and not interior decorating.
Love Mojo. He reminds me of my Dad and uncles. Soft spoken but a treasure of experience. Trustworthy, honorable. The best.
