Yeah my 2018 TLX AWD has the same wonderful V6. The gearbox is trash but the engine is wonderful, so is SH-AWD... Imagine if instead of that terrible jerky 9 speed auto, it had an Audi DCT, properly tuned, and maybe some double wishbones at the front like the newer TLX ... Now that would be real nice!

I had a 2013 Accord Coupe V-6 EX-L, and recently traded it in for the very same one that you have. Wasn't easy to find a 2017 V-6 with less than 30K miles, but made a visit to the DFW area Carmax and came up with one. Unfortunate that Honda did away with the coupe, I think that there are plenty of us that still like a two door car that's reasonably priced, with the reliability of a Honda. This car is a joy to drive.

I got one of these 4 cylinder cvt black on black with the cloth seats and it’s still an incredible car. The backup camera stopped working for no reason and sometimes the volume knob is a lil glitchy but besides that it aged perfectly no other issues in over 120k miles. Decent in rain and snow because fwd, plenty fast for someone who has never driven actually fast cars and honestly as much as sometimes I wish it was the v6 with a couple more features, I’m still very happy with the 4 banger. I also like my infotainment more than this one mine doesn’t have a dual screen setup in the middle I have the top screen and physical controls for everything. The cloth seats are really good they feel sporty but comfortable. the exterior look, gauge cluster, and seats make the car feel special even after nearly 10 years of abuse. I think black is the best color for this car, I like that they are kinda rare but I occasionally see them around. Overall I think the styling aged perfectly. Also very spacious interior I’m about 6’ and can sit in the back, and if there’s nobody in the back seat there is a lot of room for front people

It also has cylinder deactivation in the V6 which helps save gas by reducing power availability and lowering the hvac unit's power. Excellent vehicle. Understand that if you get the v6 you will definitely need to change the timing belt at 100k which is about a 13-1500$ service. 4 cylinder has a timing chain. So no worries there. I also drain and fill my transmission fluid every 20-30k miles. It's super simple and easy abd 3.5-4 quarts cones out abd 4 quarts on Amazon is around 42$. Easier than an oil change. No filter. The V6 6MT was given a J35Y2, which is a different version of the same engine as this touring. The J35Y2 was tuned to be more aggressive and responsive. I wish they kept this engine and made a TypeR variant of the accord.

It is truly a gem and so slept on in all facets. I live in Mass and have yet to see another one of my exact car to this day. I feel like the V6 Touring Coupe’s are VERY rare and are nicer / faster than a lot of more expensive luxury cars. Yes, there’s a manual mode for the 16/17. If you downshift with the paddle, and don’t engage the “S” gear from the shifter, the transmission will auto upshift. However, if you select “S” on the gear shift, and pull the paddle to downshift, you’re in full manual mode. In this mode, you’re on your own to upshift. Honda actually allows you to shift at redline, however the transmission will downshift for you automatically when you get to lower speeds. This only happens if you neglect to downshift.

Noticed you mentioned a rattle on the passenger side. I bought my 2016 Accord EX-L V6 new and soon started hearing a small yet almost constant rattle on the passenger side. It had me baffled as I emptied the glove box, the console... even the trunk. Checked under the hood, under the passenger seat, etc and still could not find that rattle. Eventually, Ohio allowed us to remove the front license plate... and alakazam, the rattle was gone. It had been a combination of the plate and the mounting bracket. BTW: good review, thanks

I got this car about a month ago, 2016 in Pearl White Orchard with 9600 miles on it for $28k. Touring trim and it's great, the only things I want to do to it is get the HFP kit installed onto it and replace the taillight halogen bulbs with LED.
I've also been looking into getting coilovers to drop it an inch but I'm not completely sold on that yet.

That would be epic but in this market I think dealers will def try to price gouge on unique manual cars like that

That automatic trans is a deal breaker. I had a 2014 Accord EXL V6 6MT. Loved the car, but honda really screwed up not adding an LSD. That car would wheel hop and torque steer like crazy from a dead stop.
My only other complaint is the V6 has a timing belt, and not a timing chain. It can cost $1,200-1,800 depending on the shop, and it is not an easy job. If you ignore the maintenance schedule and the belt breaks you will have a catastrophic failure because it is an interference engine.

Honda should have kept the V6 as an upgrade in Accord. I have a 2017 v6 4 dr w/ automatic When I want a new car, I need to go to Acura to get a V6. I have owned a number of Accords over a 20 year period. I always trade them in to get new features. I still love it.

Is a great car, deffenitly got to get it in manual though! Fun fact the 2015 is the last 9th Gen with a volume knob and no driving assists, I personally think 2015 is the best year of the 9th Gen accord hands down.

The 2017 Accord Coupe V6 will always be one of the most fun vehicle to test drive. 1). Chevy SS 2). Genesis Coupe 3.8 3). Accord Coupe V6

whats your opinion on the accord v6 coupe vs the genisis 3.8?

    • @WKaznartist
      @WKaznartist 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@d0p3fo05 Genesis was a little bit faster & more fun on corners; 5.2 sec to 60 mph vs Accord's 5.6 sec according to major car reviews. It had Brembo brakes. Bucket seats hugged my body/frame nicely without sliding. But Hyundai name reliability was unknown for me, and it had no backup camera. Quoted $30k-32,000 OTD brand new.
Accord Touring V6 coupe had the Honda reliability from family experience. And it had back up camera, and the Lane Watch blind spot camera for lane changes to the right. Less expensive was a plus, quoted $29,000-29,900 OTD when it was brand new. Of course, it didn't have Brembo brakes nor did it's seat keep me from sliding during the corners.
Both had cramped rear seats even for much shorter people, and it wasn't suitable for baby car seats.
Sound system - I didn't really test for either vehicles.
Trunk space - Genesis Coupe 3.8 has 10 cu. ft vs 2017 Accord Coupe's 13.4 cu. ft.
Ultimately, if I didn't have kids nor married, I would have bought the 2017 Accord Touring Coupe V6 brand new overall because ultimately, the deciding factor is that it's exterior design won for me.
