Street Fighter II V and Ys Book I & II are the only video game animes I think are properly done. Maybe Persona 4 but still prefer Persona Trinity soul for its an anime only thing based 3 years after P3.
I wouldn't exactly call it a proper representation of the source material because they changed a lot of plot points of the lore, but it was still a great anime for what it was.
This was when Ken and Ryu were still teenagers. Guile was the first “world class” fighter they had encountered in the world. This very fight (first time Ryu had ever been beaten in a fight) opened both Ken and Ryu’s eyes that there was another level of fighters that they have yet to catch up to which is why they both go out on a world quest to become the best. Great series that shows the growth of both fighters with Guile being the measurement of how much they improve (ken would get his butt kicked by Guile too the next day after this fight) but by the end of the series both fighters have surpassed Guile.
This is the only time in any japanese-made story/lore type of thing I've ever seen Guile get the respect he deserved. The funny thing is it's pretty true to the games too. In OG Street Fighter II before turbo, Guile was like an unstoppable beast.
Ken crushed that water bottle when Ryu got flashed kicked!! You can tell by his reaction that he didn't like watching his best friend get beat down like that, being that he's never seen Ryu lose a fight... There so close that they are like brothers.👊👊👊💪💪
Still this is a teen ryu like 16-17 , it's obvious that a navy seal who is also a fighter would beat him but the fact that he didn't even blink to get beat up shows that Ryu has a never give up attitude , but now Ryu can destroy him in a matter of seconds
From the description: "a shame that Ryu got owned", not really. I always appreciated this show was willing to display the protagonist as not always being in the right, and able to lose as well. Many Shounen anime don't embrace this enough, and often have over-powered, one-sided battles with their main characters that make become boring to watch. What's the point if you know they're going to win 100% of the time and never grow? Loss is relatable, I thought it was extremely badass when Ryu gets put down by Guile, rolling on the ground, right back up into attacking him again. Even Guile was impressed at his spirit in that moment. This gave Ryu and Ken both a place to grow from.
I love anime with lack of or sparing use of supernatural powers with the only fights being necessary ones with good animation, coreography, and emotional weigjt behind it

A great, but underrated series. I agree with what you said in the description and plus, someone's age, size, gender, and physique in fights doesn't always matter. Big, small, medium, 17, 18, or 19 and older, who cares? What matters is that you hold your own well against your adversaries before you either win or lose. Ryu has done a great job at fighting Guile because he's agile, speedy, and tougher than he looked, despite him landing a small number of blows on Guile. Ryu was very determined to not give up no matter what and that's I like about him, having the courage, confidence, and determination to do the right thing and not let your friends and family down. I'm on Ryu's and Ken's sides because those military assholes have started the trouble before Guile showed up and Ryu and Ken had to finish it. It is a shame that Ryu did take a lot of blows and lost. Guile and his friends were the jerks and assholes in this one as well and I don't blame Ken for being pissed off about Ryu getting hurt.
I'm not on their side on this one. Yes, they were obnoxious and noisy, but they never directly started anything. It was Ken who went out of his way to get into the bar they were at, and THEN antagonized them into a fight. They were both arrogant and highly amused at having beaten these guys easily. Then Guile shows up, to see his men busted up while two smirking youngsters looking at him. Even then, Guile doesn't attack, only asking if they did this. Whereupon Ken and Ryu joke about Guile being the 'main course on tonight's menu'. Then Ryu makes the first move, starting the fight. Even then, Guile asks Ryu to just stop three times, being willing to let it go at that if the kid stood down. It was only when Ryu slammed Guile against the bar that Guile finally lost his temper and stopped holding back. I'm on Guile's side.

It's like Guile said: he asked for it. If you see the whole episode, Ken and Ryu cut Guile and his boys off in traffic, they were being punks here and it caught up with them.
@Ninja Spider-Man *its not the real storyline, in the real storyline he had learnt everything from his master @daniel anderson *yep thats the american military/airforce for you bombing and attacking civilians but can't even kill the taliban or isis, just like real life, did you know how many innocent civilians got raped by bullets by the americans. There was one instance a whole family was waiting for a taxi and the yanks just sprayed them with machine gun fire @WarriorBoy *yes cutting people off in traffic makes it acceptable to bash teens with military style fighting*
Biggest curve ball to the fans when this series first came out was Ryu getting his ass kicked in the second episode then Ken in episode 3. But their comeback at the end and defeating Bison was AMAZING
As another guy posted, Ryu loses here as motivation to improve himself as fighter, basically underpinning the basis of this anime: *TO GET STRONGER!* Kinda similar to Kenshiro getting guyted by Shin the first episode of HNK.
*"He he he... You youngsters run out of steam before you get started. Now me... I can kick your a$$ all night."* >:) Those words alone motivated me to train even harder at the gym as it is 100% fact what Guile says. If you don't have the steam to last and compete against others, you are NOTHING. lol
Street Fighter 2 V is a FANTASTIC anime. Highly reccomend you young guys watch it if you are a fan of street fighter. It's very near to series in adaptation. The fights and music is awesome(as you can see from this video). The actual anime has way cleaner animation than this video uploaded from 2008. If you are tired of watching Sword Art Online garbage and all of this friendship lovey dovey crap and want to real high testosterone stuff to watch go watch Street Fighter 2 V in English you won't be dissapointed. I've seen over 500 anime and this one still sticks out in my mind.
XD No, there're tons of anime better than this one. This one was cancelled for a reason, it's way better than the crappy US cartoon but that US tv show was like cancer. English dubs are crap.
Man I remember reading about it coming out in The Wizard and other Anime Magazines. Then renting the eng dub VHS at Blockbuster...I'm getting too old for this Shiii lol
I had this whole series (except for the one CD that Managa cheated us with). I Couldnot Wait to go to my local SUNCOAST: Motion Pictures (R.I.P.) Store to buy Every Episode/CD, WHen it arrived at SUNCOAST. THe managers were like; this guy must be pressed to have this CARTOON! Yes, I was; because I am a DIE-HARD SF and ANIME FAN!!! Unfortunely; just before I took a trip away from home, I had to throw out all the CD (Movies) I had brought!! DAM!!!
I never imagine Ryu wearing Normal Clothes.. He looks like Cody from Final Fight, Just with no Blonde hair. Edit: Jesus christ, where is the music? And where was Ryu's Hadouken, Tatsumaki, and his Shoryuken?
Ken Masters It had flaws. It was rushed in the end to close up the story. But I love how it took its time to expand on a story that admittedly is paper thin and rather bogged down by cliches. Trying to give a realistic soul to something that's happy being a caricature is difficult, but I think they did a great job.
Ken Masters To put it another way, I think SF Victory was the tone most people had hoped a live action movie would have been. A nice origin story with two boys, a trip around the world, fights on the street, a shadowy syndicate, the youth growing into their destinies. "Ryu. What Do You See, Beyond Your Fist?" is basically the mantra of Street Fighter 2V.
Krystal Myth, the things that suck about this anime series: 1. Recycled animation 2. Bad humor and cheesy lines 3. The depictions of *Ryu* the Goku knock-off, *Chun Li* the not so strong and thicc little girl, *Dhalsim* the non-stretchy "monk", *Cammy* the Sarah Bryant/Nina Williams rip-off, *Balrog* who lost his balls and *Sagat* the unlikely king of muai thai 4. Instead of making *E. Honda* the Chief of Interpol, they made some reject named *Barrac* . And we could've had another E. Honda vs. Balrog scene 5. Like no. 4: They didn't make *Sagat* the Asura crime boss but instead created another original reject named *Mr. Zochi* 6. Speaking of *Sagat* , they gave him the role of a framed inmate which they could've given that role to the kickboxer *Dee Jay* 7. They used a Jay Reno knock-off version of *Charlie Nash* instead of reusing the idea of *Carlos Blanka* just for the sake of the *green man-beast* to return 8. At the final battle scene, they did another redundant *Ryu & Me vs. M. Bison* match instead of a *Ryu & Me vs. Akuma* and on the side with *Chun Li & Guile vs. M. Bison* 9. Instead of *Master Gouken* , *Ryu & I* have *Dhalsim* 10. *Ryu's* Hadouken and *my* Shoryuukn take to long to launch 11. Street Fighter: The Animated Series had more World Warriors than this anime series including the Alpha characters 12. There is no CP System-III video game tie-in to Street Fighter II V
They believe in fair fight. But Ken went and fought Guile the very next day and Ken got his ass handed to him too. But guile gave them both respect. Though we didn't see it Guile took a beating from them as well and was very surprised.
Ryu should wear street clothes and sneakers like that more often. Tired of seeing him fight bare foot all the time. It's like doesn't that hurt? They need to give Ryu street clothes for the fighting games and any anime he shows up in.

@Ninja Spider-Man *its not the real storyline, in the real storyline he had learnt everything from his master
@daniel anderson *yep thats the american military/airforce for you bombing and attacking civilians but can't even kill the taliban or isis, just like real life, did you know how many innocent civilians got raped by bullets by the americans. There was one instance a whole family was waiting for a taxi and the yanks just sprayed them with machine gun fire
@WarriorBoy *yes cutting people off in traffic makes it acceptable to bash teens with military style fighting*
If all fights were like this in the series this show woulda been so much better
01:13 love that picture.... Guile, my hero since 1991
MrZillas You know that even Chun-Li can destroy Guile ,right ?
@@cristianrubiolo1072 Maybe but at least he saved her from Vega
@@cristianrubiolo1072 - Do you really think I start a discussion about this?
The ryu we know should have a headband
At least be looks better than the live-action movie version.
When you get your ass beat so bad, you're friends gets mad and says they jumped you.

I see you everywhere.
yeah... only in cartoons!!
Crushmania how so?
1:17 Sonic Boom
2:41 Flash Kick
😎😎😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Damn he ended it with a flash kick
"Hadn't you oughta be doing your homework or studying?"
Then proceeds to beat the snot out of Ryu.
This series is excellent.
Ryu showed Guile what he was studying and Guile offered to give him a Pop-Quiz. Ryu failed, but he did get one thing right. Determination.
On that day Guile had zero thoughts about going home and becoming a family man.
all the while, the Bar Keep is thinking....cant they do this outside! who's gonna pay for the damage in my bar!
Ken Masters is the Bruce Wayne of the Street Fighter universe. If something breaks on his watch he's got it haha
My cabbages!!
Aye i remember watching this on the action chanel back in 04✌😁
*"He he he... You youngsters run out of steam before you get started. Now me... I can kick your a$$ all night."* >:)
Those words alone motivated me to train even harder at the gym as it is 100% fact what Guile says. If you don't have the steam to last and compete against others, you are NOTHING. lol
Unless you can knock their brain into orbit within that time
Super underestimated series,I love it.
This isn't really that accurate to the source material.
00:48 does anyone know the name of this song?
I’ve been trying for YEARS. no luck
Guile... I F**king love your moves. Now go to the base and be an army man!
Ryu and Ken and Guile and amazing job flight Street fighter V season coming back please I love it show funny and awesome
*Seriosuly, all that Guile says here could be match perfectly as quotes of screen victory!*
DAM!!!
The umeh-flashkick is mighty
the anime version of SFV Season 2 Guile vs Ryu LOL
Never imagined a beefy, hulking soldier could be acrobatic as fuck.
Choice words to calm an angry Japanese man, kamikaze schoolboy. Lol
Pretty sure the English Guile voice actor here is also the same guy that did Hajime Saito on Ruoruni Kenshin ;)
I never imagine Ryu wearing Normal Clothes.. He looks like Cody from Final Fight, Just with no Blonde hair.
Edit: Jesus christ, where is the music? And where was Ryu's Hadouken, Tatsumaki, and his Shoryuken?
They delete that music from every mix of this series
no I mean if guile was fighting the now ryu he would lose
This Ryu is different from the real one
Moon Killer even this one hits a new level of badass towards the end. He doesn’t even know Hadouken yet
His hadouken takes too long to charge though
Moon Killer Not all the time. It depends on how powerful he wants it to be!
Leader John this ryu didnt even know shinryuken yet.
sounds like a new series to watch!!!
Hate to say it, but Guile's voice sounds even *MANLIER* in the Japanese dub.
Otherwise, this is godly.😙
The only thing I hear from Japanese Guile is "MISSION STURT".
My favorite quote in this tv series!
SF2 V was pretty good anime all-in-all
Sort of...
Ken Masters It had flaws. It was rushed in the end to close up the story. But I love how it took its time to expand on a story that admittedly is paper thin and rather bogged down by cliches. Trying to give a realistic soul to something that's happy being a caricature is difficult, but I think they did a great job.
Ken Masters
To put it another way, I think SF Victory was the tone most people had hoped a live action movie would have been. A nice origin story with two boys, a trip around the world, fights on the street, a shadowy syndicate, the youth growing into their destinies. "Ryu. What Do You See, Beyond Your Fist?" is basically the mantra of Street Fighter 2V.
Krystal Myth, the things that suck about this anime series:
1. Recycled animation
2. Bad humor and cheesy lines
3. The depictions of *Ryu* the Goku knock-off, *Chun Li* the not so strong and thicc little girl, *Dhalsim* the non-stretchy "monk", *Cammy* the Sarah Bryant/Nina Williams rip-off, *Balrog* who lost his balls and *Sagat* the unlikely king of muai thai
4. Instead of making *E. Honda* the Chief of Interpol, they made some reject named *Barrac* . And we could've had another E. Honda vs. Balrog scene
5. Like no. 4: They didn't make *Sagat* the Asura crime boss but instead created another original reject named *Mr. Zochi*
6. Speaking of *Sagat* , they gave him the role of a framed inmate which they could've given that role to the kickboxer *Dee Jay*
7. They used a Jay Reno knock-off version of *Charlie Nash* instead of reusing the idea of *Carlos Blanka* just for the sake of the *green man-beast* to return
8. At the final battle scene, they did another redundant *Ryu & Me vs. M. Bison* match instead of a *Ryu & Me vs. Akuma* and on the side with *Chun Li & Guile vs. M. Bison*
9. Instead of *Master Gouken* , *Ryu & I* have *Dhalsim*
10. *Ryu's* Hadouken and *my* Shoryuukn take to long to launch
11. Street Fighter: The Animated Series had more World Warriors than this anime series including the Alpha characters
12. There is no CP System-III video game tie-in to Street Fighter II V
First time I seen Ken and ryu lose but this was fire 🔥
how could ken just watch it
Lenovo 93
Respect for the 1v1
This ain't Street Fighter Alpha.
had to insert coi and was out of quarters
They believe in fair fight. But Ken went and fought Guile the very next day and Ken got his ass handed to him too. But guile gave them both respect. Though we didn't see it Guile took a beating from them as well and was very surprised.
jasons D "We don't gang up on someone like you military meat heads."
Two of my favorite Street Fighter characters
Ryu should wear street clothes and sneakers like that more often. Tired of seeing him fight bare foot all the time. It's like doesn't that hurt? They need to give Ryu street clothes for the fighting games and any anime he shows up in.
I guess his feet harden over time as skin becomes solid from wear and tear, also his pain receptors by then may be adjusted to most terrains.
That Flash Kick was sick!!!!!!!
How does a air man beat a marital artist?
Aysten Williams American Flag.
martial arts
It's just anime.
With a flash kick, of course!
Lmao since when can martial artists shoot energy balls out of their palms ? It’s a video game/anime anything is possible.
Loved the story line on this
