So he went in threat assessment and determined that there was no damage. In fact he didn’t react, he reacted only when the guy behind him broke the stick on his back. As I said, the details in this movies were amazing. Even more in a time where there was no TH-cam, and people where not used to pause movies in search for details like this. Amazing.
It’s really the show don’t tell mentality of movie making back then. Put the viewer in the place of the normal person, let us see how the characters interact. This guy doesn’t care that he’s being burnt, he brushes off knives and bats, and he can forcibly grab a gun out of your hands before you can pull the trigger. This and the Predator scene, where they all shoot the jungle up. Both made around the same time, both involving Arnie. Too much ''toxic masculinity'' for the masses, nowadays.
Terminator 1 & 2 are some of my favorite movies of all time. Is it just me though but do all the night time scenes in T2 have a blue tinge to them? Not a criticism just a comment.
CrushofSiel, we do not blame you. You asked for real terminator movies, not bad movies with terminator skins like Hollywood. You're just as much of a victim as the rest of us.
I know the terminator being a good guy in T2 was supposed to be sort of a surprise reveal but the fact that he doesn’t kill anyone here and gets a cool song as he exits the scene made it pretty clear.
Normally it would be out of character given the how brutal the entrance of T1's T-800 was, but it makes sense in the context of T2's T-800 being deployed by the Resistance, that the modified programming to protect Connor may have already affected its general behavior before young Connor would reinforce the no-kill order onto the T-800 unit.
That’s an interesting perspective. It’s true that Arnold never went as dark as the first “Terminator” again. To anyone familiar with his image and filmography in general, him playing a villain, especially one that cold, truly stands out.
@@timomastosalo Would have earned him a death sentence after the terminator by his own prejudice decided not to kill anyone at the bar. He was well within parameters to kill the bartender for pointing a weapon at him. He chose to see it as a favor rather than a threat which spared his life. Didn't even strike the man.
@@Krystalmyth We know that, you're just stating the obvious. This was going next level - what's the world building of the script team like. We have to go by what the bar tender knew. The movie makers shouldn't make the average people to expect robots. It's not that obvious for the bar tender that this was a robot - not in an 80's world. Nowadays some might think that, when we have the experimental humanlie robots in test phases. Here, it was most likely this was a body builder, crazy on steroids and maybe something else. But he likely didn't trust the shotgun to stop the big guy, even if taking a leg out - is how I would accept his behaviour. This movie blew my mind apart when I was a child. Thank you James Cameron and everyone that was a part of this film. I know every word. Seen it probably T1000 times
I can remember the hype surrounding this movie being enormous; the merchandise, the marketing, and rumours circulating that Arnold was going to be the good guy. Was blown away when I eventually saw it on its VHS release and whenever I've seen it since, I'm just as amazed. This will remain an epic masterpiece on so many levels. The grand scale production of the whole thing with a budget dwarfing the first movie was colossal. The cinematography, costumes and the soundtrack theme for each terminator is timeless. Whereas the first one had clear and distinct 80s vibes, this one doesn't seem to be connected to a specific era, it's just way ahead of its time and will never age.
It is just unbelievable how cool Arnie is in this. I will never get over that insane coolness factor. And Cameron's flawless direction. Just flawless. This is peak action cinema and it will never get old. Millenia from now people are going to watch this and be amazed.
@@julius43461well, probably not millennia from now, because by that point human language and culture will have changed enough that films like these would be even more incomprehensible to them than the Canterbury Tales are to us. Though I suppose subtitles might help.
It's product placement. Companies give their stuff away and pay the studios to immerse whatever it is they want to market. It's why everyone on tv uses a mac computer, James Bonds various accoutrements, gadgets and car manufacturers are all paying top dollar for a few moments of screen time. Especially if the character using their product is "cool" like the Terminator. It can be well executed and seamlessly integrated into a plot or narrative like in this case, but can also be a little clunky and crass when crow-barred into a shot or conversation, out of obligation to some fast food corp for example. Even Anime movies and cartoons use product placement. Some animators have to draw replicas of the devices and clothing available in reality to advertise. It's trippy.

I know what you mean, even though many people may claim to hate it and are too embarrassed to admit it _Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2_ is actually one of those feel good movies that you can rewatch everyday.
Funnily enough, this is actually one of the intelligence operative's approaches to "blending in". To do the contrary, to send someone who looks extremely out of place, uncommon. Visual clues tend to attract people, so they will remember more of how the person looked like than what he was after. The fact you are asking this is another pro to this method - "they wouldn't send someone so obvious, right?" is the question frequently asked. In fact, one of the most well-known sucessful CIA foreign operations (I think there is even a movie about it) was to during Iran hostage crisis send a whole team of Americans acting like Hollywood movie makers to the Tehran. They were all white, loud, photographed everything incessantly, clothed in obvious western style and generally acted obnoxious. They went repeatedly through police checks, so later during the operation, local police already knew them and didn't really bothered about checking them again. Operation was success and their cover was blown only after they were out of Iran.
@Ivan T I think because it's a machine that scans everything coming his way just in case, apparently on it's data base that smoke was labelled as carcinogenic
@Ivan T combat directives are always scanning for physical or chemical threats, whether harmless or dangerous, considering that certain biological gases are used for weapons and such in war. Therefore the terminators are always scanning and assessing the environment for danger. Remember Arnold wasn't just a normal T Model 101, he was captured and upgraded by the resistance with advanced assasination programming and battle properties.

@@vinesauceobscurities yes, it all makes sense given what we later learn in the film. I’m referring to the experience of seeing it for the first time.
That’s an interesting perspective. It’s true that Arnold never went as dark as the first “Terminator” again. To anyone familiar with his image and filmography in general, him playing a villain, especially one that cold, truly stands out.

Just there's also this stupid repeating movie solution: bring the gun within the hand reach. So not everything in this scene is scripted smartly.
