A good rule of thumb is if you don’t use your boat at all and just have it at a dock it will cost between 10 - 20% of the value of your boat! Annually, if you use it a lot it will be 50% plus or minus Depending on the size of said vessel the cheapest part of a boat is the purchase price! … I have been a boat captain for 35 years !

2k a month for a boat you dont take out much is still cheaper than renting a condo anywhere near the water in so cal which would be around $4500 a month
You guys have perfect persona to be yacht tour guide. Very professional and knowledgeable about the boat. As for negative comment about wearing shoes, I make sure everybody who enters my boat wears shoes. You can always vacuum the dirt off the carpet but you can never get the oil off coming from your feet. I learned this from professional carpet cleaner who owns a home with white carpet.
Great boat. Looks priced to sell. I had a friend who had one of these, but had the gasoline engines, and he had a hard time selling it because of that, and he wished it had the diesels. I had another friend that had a 34'. She was a ful time liveaboard i her late 50s and she had the engines removed, put an outboard, and used the engine room as a "basement" for storage, and that really opened up that boat. I'm a sailboater, so I hope to see its video. Your sister does look like she can communicate in boat jargon, so she can sell boats too. Though most people would think a woman that young and pretty wouldn't know anything, I think she can do it.
No way ! Can you imagine , trying to run this in a rain storm ! Any Rain ! No windshield ,no wipers , everything coming at you ! Can't see ,soaking wet ! BUMMER !
Great review! Finally a channel with more live onboard with reasonable prices. Yes, Sandy should be a part of the review. She can give us a different perspective.
Reminds me of a 40-year-old Winnebago I saw years ago. Probably will want/need to put a few tens of thousands in upgrades. OMG those couches!!! For a dock queen, she’d do. I wouldn’t take her out very far, very deep. Even your partner looks very skeptical. She knows this is a crack house on a hull.
We have similar carver but little older model… my wife and I like to watch boat video to see if there’s one better than ours. After viewing dozens of boats this one is actually better than ours except for lack of dinette and duel sink. Carver makes great boats but too bad they closed down their business.
Wow this is my favorite boat you've featured. Really nice condition, stylish and the price seems in the right neighborhood. Sandy is the highlight of this video. She is so smart and observant and thinks of important things that I would not have. Having the two of you on any boat shows us clearly how roomy that boat is for two adults walking around. That is a huge plus. Many other boat tour channels forget to do that. She adds A LOT. I really love this boat. For its size and price range it's remarkable. It will sell fast I'm sure. Thanks for another great video Bryan & Sandy!
As a few others have said, there is nothing “cheap” about any boat. Yes, seems like e great deal for the money, but at a minimum, estimate annually 8k for dock fees, 8k for insurance, 10k depreciation, 5k for general maintenance, 5k for miscellaneous expenses, 2k for electricity so approx 38k before she ever leaves the dock. And btw, these boats are known as marina rv’s, not very seaworthy with their spoonbill bows to create all that interior space. Think twice before you consider this a “cheap” option.
Great walk through on the Carver and it looks like it's in great condition. Lots of room even in the staterooms and heads. You both did a great job in explaining the details, I hope you do work as a team on these videos as this is my first time viewing. I like your style and have subscribed, Thanks again from Tampa
If you buy your boat by the couch-foot, this is your vessel!!!! Seriously amazed at how much room there is in a 41' boat, but the kitchen would be a deal breaker for me. I love to cook and would want something a bit bigger with an oven.
The difference in width between a double bed and a queen-sized bed is 16 inches (40.6 cm). A standard double bed, also known as a full-sized bed, is 54 inches wide (137 cm). A queen-sized bed, on the other hand, is 60 inches wide (152 cm).
Very pretty.. Lots of space for the size but the thing about aft cabins... I always joke about aft cabin owners are the people who like boats but don't like the water, or the sun. :) Very nice though.
i think the older yachts look nicer, the layouts seem to be much better in the older styles, also the price tag is high for what the boat has to offer. long couches make for just an alley.
Dont see the dual controls for the transmission and the throttle on the bridge. Is there a seperate control to engage the forward and reverse of the engines?
Nice job you two! For future reference shouldn’t you run the blowers before starting any engine below decks. And maybe you did but I missed it. Again, great job.
Nice boat. Were there clear pull downs for the helm area? (I hate the fact they don't upgrade the electronics) What are some of the running specs: tank size, hp, top knots, fuel consumption, .. .
What an enooooooormous couch !! Hey are you sure there isn't a smaller bed or double bunk area ???? I think you missed it out - the door next to the stairs !!! 09:15
The upholstery on the bridge should be in good condition as it probably has to be replaced every 5-10 years given the lack of enclosed space from the elements. I wonder how much it would cost to reframe the opening to allow for windscreen/window?
Hudson. Going to wait on buying. Having spine surgery next month. If still available after that, maybe. However,I think she will sell quickly. Best of luck to all you guys
@@HarborYachtTours no not really. It will be a distraction. Light colors are best. Whites, maybe alongside nautical colors Ike navy blue, aqua, turquoise, or even light yellow or light oranges, even red in small doses. Black and dark colors will make you look big/huge walking around a small, tight space. Beige or light colors like white will make you look appropriate for the space. Also pull your hair together (out of the way) like a ponytail because that too will make the space seem larger and you less overpowering in the space.
These days the cost of the boat is not an issue. Its the insurance, property taxes, and most of all, storage. If you don't own a house on water, slips have become prohibitively expensive.
The mechanics could use more coverage and more exploration over storage. The Cummins engines are a huge upgrade. I missed any mention of bow and stern thrusters. Does it have these? How tall are you? Ceiling height looks low for an average Texan where we are over 6’2”. Big and tall folks may be cramped. Where is a person going to more it? What are those expenses? Probably less than a condo special assessment and monthly dues on FL condo. I hear new law are breaking fixed income owners.
The problem is, if you want to use this as your actual home, I cannot find a single marina in FL that will allow a liveaboard (meaning a permanent docking slot). So after your time runs out (they have a 30 day max), where do you go? How do you make it work as your home? Cant just float out at sea
You can’t make it work. Living on a boat in Florida almost requires you to move from transient to transient slip unless you can find one of the few marinas that allow full time live aboard. I don’t know of any south of Jupiter. There’s one in fort Pierce that’s the only one I can recall right now.
Not sure about other areas, but there are multiple marinas in Charlotte Harbor that all allow liveaboards. All of which have multiple snowbirds who went that route to have it as a winter place.
Whats the point in dropping the kitchen down? I know you did not design the boat. But just seems odd to me. You can take out the bottom drawer of the fridge and it will not cover the front window if the floor was up. Just seems odd to me. The Beam is 14Wide(beam) how long is the Salon? That looks like10-12FT?
Wld u guys be able to export to Singapore? I wish to be an sole agent but also to make things affordable for locals in Singapore. I wish to have one myself!
Not a fan of that carpet. I'd ditch that short sofa for a dining table with comfortable chairs, and I'd remove that sofa section closest to the galley for something more functional, maybe storage. I wish I had an assistant like Sandy.
@@margekallies9230 Ah. Well, I'd still want that space for dining, so out it goes. If I could afford any boat, I'm sure I could afford a couple grand for nice replacement furniture NOT out of the 70s. That long sofa would come out and a sofa half the size would go in to pair well with the replacement carpeting or other flooring. I'd put in a pantry close to the galley, I suppose. A guy who was handy with his hands could do well with this boat.
Quite a lot of boat for that price! Don't really like the exposed helm, but for that price I would live with it, would have to see about enclosing it more..Good owner/operator boat for those weekend getaways to the Bahamas!

Pressure wash would make a big difference....
Pressure washing isn’t great for boats. It finds any little crack in the gel coat and opens the spot up.
What’s an average slip rental for a boat this size?
Florida has lots of canal front private jetties, negotiable with owners. Nothing like a marina with full facilities which charge by the foot.
I wish!!!
Counters and such are Corian, not granite.
Thanks for the pointer.
The engine has been over painted. Lots of runs. I always worry what they are trying to cover up.
I understand but I’m more worried about an engine with exposed rust and no paint
Insinglass isn’t a thing, it’s strata glass made by Hercules, 40 g won’t role up like that one. Granite, doubtful.
