The spin Mirabel does when she says “make flowers bloom” is the a reference to Isabela’s spin during Family Madrigal. I love it.

Fun Fact: Lin-Manuel Miranda wanted this song to sound like a Colombian waltz, which is in 3/4 time. He wanted it to sound off beat compared to the rest of the music in the movie, since Mirabel already sings to her own beat with the songs!

aaaand she did everything she wished to do, even if just figuratively. She moved mountains (brought a significant change to her family and led them forward), she made the flowers bloom (helped Isa realize her full potential), she healed what was broken (figured out the strain within the family allowing them to realize what truly mattered), she showed them something new (new path, new life)

You're right and the "move mountains" part can be taken literally as well!! The mountains of Encanto split and moved aside because of Mirabel confronting Abuela Alma. I'm constantly amazing by this film and how everything comes full circle in the end!

    • @kimmiearmy3002

Omg same "move the mountains" the way the mountains divide in to 2 to face the fear and wake up the new life. "Make new trees and flowers gloom"mean wake up for being perfect and be by yourself and "heal whats broken " means heal and make family see the truth and creat a new Life

The first time I listened to this song, I was hit with the lyrics “I’m not fine, I’m not fine” and “Can’t keep down the unspoken invisible pain”
LIKE OH MY GOODNESS! That is so deep. And I love how you can hear the cracks in Mirabel’s voice as she sings. It’s hard for her to pretend that she is fine when (almost) everyone else in her family has a gift. It sounds like she’s about to cry, *especially* when she says “I’m not fine, I’m not fine”

This song hit me so hard. I've always been the outcast from my family. Even my older brother who used go be my protector now ignores me.
The scene of her being excluded from the family picture especially hurt. I was the only one told I wasn't to be in the family picture at my brother's wedding even though my younger sister and I were both candle lighters. Hell even my younger brother who isn't fully related was in it. I just had to smile from the side and pretend I wasn't hurt.

Mirabel is the only one that doesn't have a magical ability like the rest of the family, and honestly it's really sad. It's like you HAVE to have something special about you in order to be apart of something, or else you'll be forgotten and thrown away, Mirabel & the family are a great example here. Before the song, the youngest child, Antonio, revived a gift from the Castia (the house) after Mirabel. But she didn't get a gift, so when he got his the whole family (And Abuela, played a big role here) praised him with love and attention, Mirabel felt left out, wanted to make her family proud like Antonio did. This song was a musical masterpiece and I can't wait to watch you do more of these! :)

I’m always in love with the part when she sings “someone please just let me know where do i go?” Right as her home appears in front of her. I think in the moment she’s looking at it as this very daunting thing, and asking it what she’s supposed to do, but visually it’s like it’s telling her that she belongs right there, she doesn’t need to go anywhere.

I love the way the visuals in the songs are in this movie. In the opening song, everything is quite real, her walking through town, seeing everyone's powers, house coming alive, which sets out what their reality is. But then with this song it all occurs within the moment of the camera flash which is physically impossible but looks so amazing. I also noticed when watching this that when they were gathering everyone for a "whole family" photo, noone even noticed or cared mirabel wasn't there which is so sad. The songs for her 2 sisters have amazing visuals too which I feel like aren't all literally happening but are simply being visually represented if that makes sense. It's like the songs pull them out of the moment and into another reality for a moment like the flashback to the wedding in the bruno song it's like you're actually there at the wedding rather than a standard flashback.

You can totally tell that a LOT of work was put into this soundtrack. :0
As far as other recommendations go, if you're up for it, I'd love to see your reaction to Cody Fry's "Underground," specifically from his Symphony Sessions. It has a full orchestra and it's honestly super cool to hear! 👏👏

I highly/wholeheartedly recommend that you react to “All Of You” from Disney’s “Encanto”, it’s a very very very very touching song.

Yes, finally the music video. Thanx for the reaction of Encanto songs!
Also, "root of all evil" is a song from helluva boss by "silva hound" (the same musician of "Addict") and it'll be very exciting if i can watch your reaction of it.

Modern Disney owes almost everything to Ashman and Menken IMO. It’s tragic thinking about how much more Ashman could have contributed to the Disney Renaissance had he lived.

They mentioned that Mirabel's song, which is a Columbian style waltz (6/8), was meant to stand out on the track as a stand-alone as it is her 'want' song.

An actual great thing about this song is how it’s predicting the future. As Mirabel is sing about healing what’s broken, Showing the family something new And the house is giving her a chance to perform a miracle.

This one is a synthesis of bambuco rhythm of the Colombian Andes and Joropo of the east planes of Colombia and national music of Venezuela. This rhythm and many variants can be found all over Latin America and is one of the most beautiful heritages of afro-indigenous music. It plays with the ambiguity of binary/ternary patterns.

Discovered your channel searching for Encanto content. Really beautiful to hear your breakdowns - adds a new level of appreciation to the songwriting. You're such a cutie! Subscribed.
Also itty bitty tip: You need an amber (orange) gel or filter on that light. Just like you probably can't turn your music mind off, my photo brain is popping off.

Hihihi I love your content! I hope you feel better soon as well. I know that the musicals you're focused on are Hamilton and Six Wives, so I'll suggest the hidden song "Congratulations" from Hamilton. It's after the "Rynalds Pamphlet" but before "Burn" I think.

At this point please just watch Encanto as a live stream. It is so amazing and a lot of lyrics mean more in context. Also, it sounds like you haven’t heard the track All Of You yet, but don’t watch it! It means so So SO much at the end of the movie.

There's a song I've always loved from the Rapunzel's Tangled Adventures and that is "You're Bigger than That" sung by Lance Strongbow (James Monroe Iglehart). It's about overcoming your fears and I've found it to be a real pick-me-up.

In the comments of the reaction to pressure ... I stated I relate to Mirabel.
This song is the one I was talking about. I especially relate to the lines "I'm fine, I'm totally fine. I will stand on the sides as you shine..... I'm not fine... I'm not fine."

My mom and I think that Mirabels gift was actually the house. Her door disappeared into the wall of the house, after this song once she's given up the houses cracks become apparent, she talks to the house the most, the house helps her the most and *SPOILER* at the end everyone's door becomes the front door and they get their powers back- but Mirabel is ALSO on the door and THATS when the house becomes magical again

This one song, beyond all the others, reminds me SO MUCH of Eliza’s songs and even a few of Alexander’s from Hamilton. I know, I know, Miranda did them both, but he’s good about keeping it themed to the movie rather than it being a ‘THIS IS AN LMM SONG’ kinda thing. But these totally had that Miranda vibe.

I really liked this song, but I think that it is about middle of the pack rating wise for me personally! When I heard the last couple notes of the song, I was able to guess who wrote the songs!
I recommend checking out "Better Then You" from Camp Camp (with the clip preferably), and Song of Raindrops from Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou (Also with the clip if possible)!
