I'm confused man mine stats on top(the one with only after shampoo) but then i put another one that's after conditioner when i put it in the bottom it stays there like it does come a little but towards the middle. Now what is mine priosity. (I took a steal glass witg normal water, might be a little hot due to the weather)
I have performed the test with my single hair ,when I dipped it inside water it will sink and when I throw it on the surface it will float.....performed this approx. Ten to 15 times😂😂😂
I put a clean strand of my tape in extension (processed and bleached blonde) and then I put a clean strand of my virgin brown hair that has also never been touched by any heat tools. They both sunk to the bottom. I highly doubt my virgin hair strand is the same health level as my tape in hair strand that has been high processed
I've been trying to do this but everytime My hair is floating I just searched on TH-cam to see if anyone get their hair sink to the bottom ,I thought its floating because of the water surface tension so I soak little bit then it went to the bottom so I don't understand how to do this please explain how to do this
It doesn't work. Porosity is actually measured in grades 1 to 5 with very clear signs for each. Manes by Mell has a nice video explaining them for beginners
It can have something to do with hair health because dry bleached hair often has a high porosity so fixing that can make your hair healthier. But some people have it naturally so obviously it’s genetic and not unhealthy. Theres nuance to this so take it based on your own hair journey.
Can someone help me.Why is this test not working on my hair? My hair gets wet easily, becomes very frizzy and brittle in humidity, breaks, falls and does not dry quickly. So I thought I have High porosity hair. But when I washed my hair and dried it, I did this test and my hair kept floating on water...now I'm so confused.
Nah porosity is not related to the damage. I had low porosity meaning my hair never sank, but I can feel the damage to my cuticles and have to use a sealant to protect my hair from the humidity. It's not a lack of protein either. It's just straight up damage to the cuticle unrelated to the porosity or protein. Referring to high porosity as damaged is inaccurate. It might be damaged just the same as any porosity could be damaged. High porosity just means it absorbs more moisture. I have low porosity meaning it take a long time for my hair to absorb moisture but the damage to my cuticles causes the humidity outside to overhydrate my hair anyway. I have to open the cuticle with hot water to condition and finish by rinsing with cold water in order to reseal the cuticle. Then I have to use an oil to fully seal the cuticle so that the humidity does not overhydrate my hair leading to frizz. My hair has been frizz free ever since I started doing this despite having curly hair.
My hair dont sink they just keep floating. But they are rough dry frizzy. And when i let em airdry it takes time but when they dry. Its very hard to move them.they r tangled stuck cant even brush. In past ive been using hair dryer for around 5 years. And curl pattern is around 2c. Men. Help me
True, actually when we e placing the hair above water , There is water tension that it needs to break and if we dont push it into the water it will just sit there.. bu t if I push mine, Then it immediately goes down. Idk
I have read a study that while doing this test u should never disturb the hair just put it on the surface. If it's high porosity it will break surface tension of water
I'm imagining three options: 1. Your hair is low porosity and while putting strands into water you accidentally put pressure on them, forcing some of the strands used water while the rest naturally floated. 2. Your porosity differs. The roots are most likely a little lower porosity than ends so parts of the hair float while other don't. In this situation you could cut one hair strands on the very root of your hair. The cut a small piece each from both sides of that hair strand. The piece cut from the roots side should float while the piece from the ends side should float in the middle/ sink. In that case your hair is naturally low porosity but due to heat/uv rays damage has much higher porosity further from the roots. 3. You have remnants of products on your hair or a calcified film on your hair left by hard water. It happens that water with high amount of microelements in it can leave a layer of said elements on hair messing up with porosity test. Before testing the porosity you should wash your hair in *clarifying* shampoo. Don't put any conditioner nor any other kind of cosmetic. Just this once wash the whole length of the hair with shampoo foam, not just roots like normally should. If you have trouble with forcing your shampoo to create foam, you 100% have hard water. You may also be dealing with multiple of those options at the same. You need to test it more to assess the porosity.
I always thought I have low porosity hair because my hair float in the water and later sink.thanks to this video I know it's actually medium porosity. Because all the videos I watched said. If it float low,if it stay in the middle medium, if it sink high porosity.so they didn't clarify the medium porosity properly. And is hard to find you tuber with medium porosity. We all focused on low and high porosity lol 😆 😂
People clearly have no idea what this all means lol. You want to have low porosity hair, that means healthy. High porosity means damaged, the cuticles easily open up due to months or years of neglect. Our cuticles should be tightly shut, as low porosity does to protect it from any dirt or damage.
I've been trying to do this but everytime My hair is floating I just searched on TH-cam to see if anyone get their hair sink to the bottom ,I thought its floating because of the water surface tension so I soak little bit then it went to the bottom so I don't understand how to do this please explain

Actually if it is sinks all the way down it just means it's high porosity. Has nothing to do with health
what happens if it doesn't sink at first, but rather 1 minute later?

Porosity has absolutely NOTHING to do with hait health.
It depends, if your hair is damaged it will likely be high perocious. If it isnt it still can be high perosity

Does this method actually work?
I mean can hair break the surface tension of the water just like that?
