Yasss! Styling with soaking wet hair has worked so well for me. I wash, deep condition, and apply my leave-in while in the shower. I leave my shower cap on to seal in the moisture with heat. Then when I'm ready, since my hair is still soaking wet I put my styler (gel/cream) on and then air dry or diffuse. This has been a game changer for my wash and go routine. I have low porosity hair and my curls have been looking so bomb since I started doing this.

India Batson, and white curly haired youtuber, has stated in some videos that she can go an entire week without washing her hair and hers doesn't look greasy at all. It just depends on the porosity of hair. I have thick, course, low porosity hair, so if I do happen to go for a week without washing my hair, of course it'll get greasy from product buildup. I have low porosity hair also and I wash my every 2-3 weeks. I have included the Camille Rose Ginger Cream Rinse to my hair strands only (because I use a LOT of product on my hair to keep it moisturized between washes). I use the tgin Shampoo for low porosity hair to my scalp. Works great!!!
Okay ...This video is well needed ....you expressed so many informative tips for my low porosity hair....things I wish I knew years ago.... definitely appreciate you ...for me my hair is your hair texture but not nearly as thick ...over the years my hair has thinned tremendously I'm guessing due to genetics, medication as well.... I'm only wanting to keep my hair texture, keep it trimmed and in a protective style done professionally at least until I see improvement/results in it ... again thank you....hope to see more videos from you soon
I am completely agree with cleaning/clarifying your hair. I also agree that our hair can behave very differently. I used the co-wash process for years and wondered why I couldn't get the results I wanted. I decided to wash my hair for the first time in years, but found that shampoo really did strip my hair. I tried several brands. I started using a non-shampoo homemade cleansing process. Game changer!!!!
I must say...im sooo glad i found this vid. What you say makes alot of sense. I have low porosity hair and was cold rinsing, not using heat for my hair mask etc....and my hair is still dry. Time for a change.Thank you
I was co washing for a couple weeks up until now and confused as to why my hair was looking funky so I started using cold water only to wash my hair...... Thank goodness for your video and channel😭 thank you
If you use warm/hot water to rinse moisturizing products like deep conditioner, conditioner, and hair masks will that wash away its moisturizing agents? I have low porosity and always heard that cold water “seals it in” but was confused
Yea same but it makes sense I just would use luke warm water to rinse it out not extremely hot because adding cold water to out hair just dries it out and closes our cuticles
wow you just opened my eyes i use cold water to rinse and i haven't been liking it just thought it was what i was suppose to do know i know i have to get on the deep conditioning with heat i have a salon hair dryer and don't even use it had it for years so i have no excuses thanks

I’m a 3c-4a with low porosity hair. finding out i had low porosity was upsetting cause i thought i would have no hope. i’m hoping to find good tips and start my school year with beautiful hair , any tips would be great!! 💙💜
Thanks for sharing sis❤ My hair is a low porosity and with all kinds of products used, I felt they weren’t working for me not knowing all I needed was alil heat 😅
if you wash your hair( do not use conditioner) just wash it and let it air dry don’t use any products and then take a strand and put it in room temperature water it’ll tell you, wait 15 mins If it sinks that’s means you have high porosity, if it’s in the middle it’s normal/medium and if it’s floating that means you have low porosity
I literally watched a video about a month ago suggesting to wash with cold water and so I tried it and now I realise I probably shouldn't have 😅 I also realised today that I have *such* low porosity hair and also that my shampoo has sulfates in 🙃🙃 my curls ain't thriving rn 😅 Gonna try some of these tips, thank you!!
I get that! I've caught myself doing that in the past until I learned way more about my hair- give it a shot, then come back and let me know how it goes! ❤️
Thank you! I've been styling my hair while wet and it has been awesome. I also learned I need to shampoo more and not be so scared of shamppoing as I was before! I'm definitely going to try the heat styling you recommended and to stop my cold rinse! Thank you and also you are soooo beautiful 💖
Paying attention to my hair is really helping me to know what works for me, my low porosity hair really work well with warm water than cool water, my last wash day proof it, and it is true to try different things you will see the one that work best for you..
These tips are way too good to pass up, thank you for sharing! I have 100% agree with shampooing once a week is *KEYYY* . Using heat with my deep conditioner is a must, I def can't do my wash day properly without it.
Thank you! I'm newly entering the complexities of curly hair and the first thing I did was learn about porosity (I have low). I tried to absorb as much info as possible, but I didn't learn about the affects of protein and am now struggling with breaking/dry hair and hair loss due to protein overload. I'm struggling to figure out what's best, but I'm slowly figuring it our through trial and error (like that protein overload😅). Any raw, truthful material is so helpful! Thank you!
hey queen!! this video was so helpful my hair has been completely heat damaged from straightening all through high school so now in college i’m figuring out how to handle it//can u list products u use!?
In the 80s we were doing wàsh and gos starting with very wet hair. Then decades later, along came plopping. We were doing cowashes between our weekly shampoo washes. I jumped on every bandwagon that came my way and now I have gone back to the 80s when my hair was at it's best. Everything you say is absolutely true, esp about the protein. My hair LOVES protein.
Thanks for this. I'm going to try these tips with my kids because that is what I've been reading. One thing I found with my oldest is when applying a product the next day to refresh it if I add the product 1st then water it looks better. I told another mom that & she said it really helped. But we have boys & there's only so much they will let us do. They hate the look but don't want to put in the time.
This was so helpful! Ever since I’ve put a color rinse on my hair, it is so DRY! Every time I get in the shower globs of hair fall our and I’m so devastated. I’m definitely gonna follow these tricks ❤️ and btw you’re gorgeous!
I'm so happy it helped! Oh no, have you tried the apHogee 2 step treatment? When I was transitioning to natural hair this product was my saving grace! Do you use heat at all? Also, thank you so much! 🥺❤️
I don’t have a steamer but wanted to steam so I boiled some water and poured it in a bucket. I tilted my hair over it without touching the water, covered my head with a towel so the steam wouldn’t escape and while also avoiding it touching my hair and girrrrlllll I had a whole different curl pattern and bounceeee. I was shocked and I only did it for 10-15 mins then finished the remainder of my 30 min deep conditioner under a dryer.. I was gonna straighten my hair but my curls were sooo defined I didn’t wanna do anything else but style it and wear. One other thing I did different that day was really massage the deep conditioner into the strands instead of just applying it. I then combed after deep conditioning but before rinsing it out… comb glided right through.. no plastic cap while steaming, plastic cap while sitting under the dryer
Loved the video. Many of the things you have mentioned I have figured out with trial and error also. I will try the deep conditioning with heat. Thanks!
I am relaxed with low porosity and all what you said is correct. Down to the co washing my hair hated that. My hair always felt icky so I realised my hair loves being shampooed my hair comes back to life. Yes so all what you said is very true.
Hey ! I would say it depends on how hard your water is. I have fine, low porosity and high density hair and I live in a area where the water is really hard : my hair loves vinegar cause it helps to.prevent from build up. 👍🏽
You add heat with a deep conditioner then you seal it in with cold water to retain the moisture. I was told that’s the way it works when I went to the salon. The stylist warned me before running cold water over my hair because it’s truly cold. It feels like ice after being under the Steamer. L🤣L!
@@curlelia Right & my mom was a master cosmetologist... So was her sister & we staayyyeedd in the salon but hair school only really teaches to style hair not the health. 😃 Girlfriend don’t worry, I can assure you that you weren’t the only one who just copied what others did! I’ve done it all, finishing with cold water, deep conditioning without heat and the like, so Amen to all that you said. I have very dense 4a coils, just passed my 10 year mark, and it was ONLY 4 months ago after years of trial and error that I have finally found what works for my hair. 🤣 Deep conditioning without heat for me now is a sheer and utter waste of time, and like yourself my hair NEEDS as a base to be spritzed with pretty warm water, followed by a LIQUID leave in conditioner, then my creams and gel, and Gurrrrrrl my hair is THRIVING, shiny, soft, and getting plenty of compliments. 😱, I am AMAZED after battling with chronically dry hair for years. So one really needs to find out what works for THEIR hair. It’s not about the products as they say, but the technique which I have truly come to realise. Most low-po girls style on damp hair, but my mane ain’t having it, so it’s so good to hear someone else say the same thing. 😊 Thanks so much for sharing. You and your hair are beautiful.
Wow 10 years?! Congrats girl! I'm entering my 4th year and I wish I had started sooner! Yeah I've wasted so much time deep conditioning with no heat. My hair is not built that way, and thats okay- our hair is just hella boujie lmao! But I'm so happy to hear that you've finally found what works for you and your hair is thriving! It really is about the technique! You just gave me an idea for a video! Thank you!!! ❤️

I wish my hair took protein well my hair literally BREAKS if I use that stuff but anyways all ur tips are amazing so thank you and I will definitely add heat to my routine 🥰
I always like taking tips from different persons, but this for some reason makes more sense than a lot of other videos. I do a lot of what you're saying, but I usually use normal temperature water yet my hair can't lock the moisture in for too long. So I'll be sure to do the warm water routine and the wash weekly instead of biweekly as that should help. Also, if you do see this, do you think using a blow dryer is recommended on our hair type or you would avoid that?
Hi love! As far as a blow dryer, do you mean for diffusing or for blow outs? If it's for diffusing I do use one, I typically diffuse on low/medium heat- nothing more than that. The diffuser attachment helps dry your hair with indirect heat! Now as far as blow outs, I haven't gotten one in YEARS. The least amount of heat, the better!
I can’t wait to do a deep conditioning treatment in my daughter now ! I have had such a hard time because her hair doesn’t absorb anything it just sits on top and builds up ! Should you heat a little when you do your day to day hair moisturizer?
Amaya, girl you have a good eye 👁️!Oh hell to the yeah!I'm a sister that admire the beauty of my fellow sisters! She is definitely 😁🥺 a technical knock out!
Omg yes I used to be so reluctant to washing my hair often cause of its rep for drying out curly hair, I would keep it at 1-2 times a month but my hair would always be like super oily yet still dry, like products would literally just sit on my hair it was so annoying. Then I started doing weekly washes and saw soooo much difference in moisture and growth. Also stopped letting my hair air dry after putting in products and instead started covering it with a plastic bag and bonnet overnight and my hair retained it all soo much better, I was shocked, it was like everything I had been taught about curly hair was a lie lmaoo😭

I wash my hair once every two weeks. That works for me. The Camille Rose products are a life changer for me.
@@iaaeottg21 wait so when do you moisturize every week?
your hair looks so lively
Time for a change.Thank you
Gorgeous 🥰. Yea heat with deep conditioning changed everything for the better for LPro hair
now can we get your lash routine its beautiful!
Yea same but it makes sense I just would use luke warm water to rinse it out not extremely hot because adding cold water to out hair just dries it out and closes our cuticles
wow you just opened my eyes i use cold water to rinse and i haven't been liking it just thought it was what i was suppose to do know i know i have to get on the deep conditioning with heat i have a salon hair dryer and don't even use it had it for years so i have no excuses thanks
i had to get a chop of 1 1/2 inches of hair because my ends were so dry and i wanted to find a way to start a hair health journey so i started out with finding out my porosity and hair type. I’m a 3c-4a with low porosity hair. finding out i had low porosity was upsetting cause i thought i would have no hope. i’m hoping to find good tips and start my school year with beautiful hair , any tips would be great!! 💙💜
Thanks for sharing sis❤
My hair is a low porosity and with all kinds of products used, I felt they weren’t working for me not knowing all I needed was alil heat 😅
I’m still unsure of what my hair porosity is 😩 I think it’s normal but idk, nice video💕
if you wash your hair( do not use conditioner) just wash it and let it air dry don’t use any products and then take a strand and put it in room temperature water it’ll tell you, wait 15 mins If it sinks that’s means you have high porosity, if it’s in the middle it’s normal/medium and if it’s floating that means you have low porosity

Try the water test with a strand of hair
I literally watched a video about a month ago suggesting to wash with cold water and so I tried it and now I realise I probably shouldn't have 😅
I also realised today that I have *such* low porosity hair and also that my shampoo has sulfates in 🙃🙃 my curls ain't thriving rn 😅
Gonna try some of these tips, thank you!!
You gained another subscriber with all these gems. So happy to see not only similar curls to mine but also low porosity thank you
Black women are beautiful. No matter the natural hair video, I admire a black womens beauty always
Yaaaas! I style with SOAKING wet hair and it works very well for me. I have LP hair.
Makes so much sense. You are the queen!
I use a face steamer for my deep conditioning, and to refresh my curls... great info!
You need protein followed by moisture w low to manipulation styles... Nothing that causes tension... Sleep w satin...
I agree hun. Steaming my conditioned hair was a game changer. My hair loves it.
...I had a feeling there was a reason my hair felt better every time I forgot to use cold water in my last rinse.
Can I use apple cider vinegar on low porosity hair
Hey ! I would say it depends on how hard your water is. I have fine, low porosity and high density hair and I live in a area where the water is really hard : my hair loves vinegar cause it helps to.prevent from build up. 👍🏽
Oh and, I use any type of vinegar. I may add that crystal vinegar works especially well for me !
You add heat with a deep conditioner then you seal it in with cold water to retain the moisture. I was told that’s the way it works when I went to the salon. The stylist warned me before running cold water over my hair because it’s truly cold. It feels like ice after being under the Steamer. L🤣L!
Girl your very last point is what I struggle with. So many people say damp and just like you said the rest of the hair dries out.
U should get a spray bottle and fill it with hot/warm water so u can re wet it easily. That’s what I do x
I loved all your tips! Thank you so much!
So glad they were helpful love! ❤️
This is the video I didn't think I needed, thank you!!! I am going to try different techniques !
I've been saying following up with cold water my hair didnt like for YEARS & just didn't know what it was. Steam & even a little heat is my friend.
I really thought I was doing something adding cold water to my hair... What a mess lol a little indirect heat will forever be our bestfriend!
@@curlelia Right & my mom was a master cosmetologist... So was her sister & we staayyyeedd in the salon but hair school only really teaches to style hair not the health. I would ask her why did mine act like it didn't like cold water. Only until this yr when I mentioned I can't follow up with cold water did she say I have low porosity Im like WHY HAVEN'T you been explained that LOL. BTW LOVE YOUR HAIR.
Curlelia Hey you're welcome sis! So happy to be of service. 😉
What leave in do you use?
@@dearxen DIY Leave-in, just herbal teas really with a bit of glycerine thrown in. Nettle, horsetail, hibiscus, marshmallow root etc are all really good for natural hair.
@@dearxen a DIY leave in made up of herbs like marshmallow root, nettle, horsetail, hibiscus etc, with a bit of glycerine thrown in to keep the moisture in. You basically want to make a herbal tea with any herbs that are good for hair or ones that your hair likes. Having said all that I’ve gone onto water only washing my hair now and my hair is doing fine with full sebum coverage. This natural hair thing is just waaaay too long and time consuming for my liking. Now I can REALLY wash and go! 😆
Love this! Thank you! I also have low porosity and I can relate!!
Oohhh that’s why my hair feels like that when I use cold water😭
I subscribed and turned on my post notification,I love this video I've tried these methods their working on my hair I just love it
Thank you!!! I thought heat was BAD, BAD, BAD. I was doing the cold rise, no heat, and trying conditioner after conditioner.
This is amazing advice thank you. I have to style my hair with water.
This is a gamechanger to me !! Now i finally understand why the sh** expensive keratin spray behaved so ugly in my hair and why i allways feel like conditioners dont work properly on me.
Thank you soooo much omg 😆
After 20 years YASSSSSS THIS IS VIDEO
I LEARNED SO MUCH.
THANK YOU 😊
JUST EARNED BEW SUSCRIBER.
Can you make a video on the porosity test? Feeling unsure about mine.
Same🌚 i feel like i have more than 1 porosity
Manes By Mel has an extensive video on hair porosity levels
I realized I had low porosity hair because I took a picture and I could see the little bubbles of water sitting on top of it
More prone to buildup - don't co wash - wash using shampoo
Wear cap , while using conditioner
Adding water in the process
Before I knew my priosity of my hair: omg, my hair is demaged, i don't drink emough water, not eating enough healthy food, not doing enough conditioning blablabla
.. And after i know my priosity: omg, my hair is low priosity, it's nothing wrong with my hair is perfectly healthy 😍❤️
I can't thank you enough everything makes so much sense suddenly!!🤍
your gorgeous🤩
You are right, I do all of things things regularly. Thank you !
thank you so much for your tips and I'm actually really shocked i didn't learn about the cold water sooner like i always start washing my hair with luke warm water and then a cold rinse but now you said that the cold water doesn't do anything thanks for that know I know
I wish my hair took protein well my hair literally BREAKS if I use that stuff but anyways all ur tips are amazing so thank you and I will definitely add heat to my routine 🥰
Do you have a video on refreshing low porosity hair?
Your hair looks so amazing
Hi, what are your favorite shampoo and conditioners and leave in conditioner for low porosity hair?
Please what's the affordable mousse for low porosity hair 😢❤
this video was SOO helpful, thank you!!! i’m literally taking all advice
I can’t wait to do a deep conditioning treatment in my daughter now ! I have had such a hard time because her hair doesn’t absorb anything it just sits on top and builds up ! Should you heat a little when you do your day to day hair moisturizer?
Helps
How often should we moisturize our hair?
Amaya, girl you have a good eye 👁️!Oh hell to the yeah!I'm a sister that admire the beauty of my fellow sisters! She is definitely 😁🥺 a technical knock out!
What’s your opinion on silicon mix on low porosity hair ?
Omg yes I used to be so reluctant to washing my hair often cause of its rep for drying out curly hair, I would keep it at 1-2 times a month but my hair would always be like super oily yet still dry, like products would literally just sit on my hair it was so annoying. Then I started doing weekly washes and saw soooo much difference in moisture and growth. Also stopped letting my hair air dry after putting in products and instead started covering it with a plastic bag and bonnet overnight and my hair retained it all soo much better, I was shocked, it was like everything I had been taught about curly hair was a lie lmaoo😭
Can you do a video for recommended low porosity leave in conditioners
What about frizz for low porosity hair?
Thank you every thing a needed to know to change my low P routine!
