A d.va actually taxied me back once on king's row. I was walking back (with no headset) and as I got toward the payloads destination d.va waved at me at the other end so I used the communication wheel to thank the d.va. It felt awesome knowing someone was looking out for me

I wish every mercy player at least tried to think like this. But then you have the mercy one tricks on your team who just lock onto the tanks with heal on for the entire game and just forget about everything else, then die every 2 seconds because they're out of position and complain that you're not "protecting them". Mercy has a lot of potential but I feel like a lot of people pick her just because she doesn't take much mechanical skill like the other heroes, but they don't realize that she could do so much more than just sitting there pressing left click.
"Mercy takes no skill"... except she kinda does when you start thinking about what you need to do to keep yourself alive, while also healing/damage-boosting your team-mates, and keeping an eye out on where the enemy team is and who has their ult, and knowing when to rez people without causing the team to combust. Mercy requires more thinking than most other heroes and I think a lot of people just don't understand that (they think all Mercy does is stand there and hold rmb or r2 or rb (depending on their settings) and "get carried" lol).
Yeah, I personally never agreed with the no skill comment at all - I think Mercy's difficulty depends on the intelligence and awareness of the enemy team. If the enemy team lets me get away with Rezzing an ally in front of four of them (which happened recently and I was like wtf how am I not dead lol), that doesn't mean Mercy is easy - it means the enemy team failed to punish her
Well obviously saying Mercy takes no skill, is not truth, but she is also not difficult to play, considering game awareness is also obtained by playing other supports or dps, so, I wouldnt say Mercy takes no skill, but it has a low skill difficulty, just compare Ana´s difficulty to Mercy´s, but again, this is just a general opinion, is not that a no skill hero is bad lol, its simply Mercy being way too easy to play.
I find that it balances itself out, the "no skill" heroes (Mercy, torb, symmetra, bastion etc.) ofter require more teamwork, more positioning, more awareness than "hard" ones. I find it ironic how everyone spams "I need mercy/ just pick it's easy" and all that usually don't play her at all, or play her in qp. Yeah, just try being mercy with brain dead dps and coordinated enemy team, I would take soldier, or any tank any day.
Its quite funny because I can play Ana pretty well but I can´t play Mercy, simply because it doesn´t fit my playstyle.
Julian Isais Yeah, I think every hero has their own different playstyle. Some are similar to others, and some are so vastly different that it can take longer for others to learn them. I've been playing Mercy for a while, and yesterday I decided to play Ana since I hadn't for a while. At first, I was rusty, but since I did have prior knowledge of using her (22 hrs), I was quick to fit back in with her type of playstyle.

Something I'd like to add (also as a GM support main) is in regard to you saying you like to time your damage boost with McCree's deadeye. However, this is only helping you gain ult charge rather than helping him in any way. Damage boost has a similar effect to nano boost when locked to a McCree during his ultimate. It makes it lock onto targets 30% faster than it would usually. You need to use your judgement when deciding whether or not it's a good idea to damage boost a McCree. This depends solely on whether or not he's going to be bursted down or not (which depends on his position, enemy position, enemy cooldowns and enemy ultimates (primarily, Tracer's bomb). Some times where I would recommend a damage boost over heals is if he's against a Widow. Chances are, he's going to die to her anyway unless he's shielded so just boost and hope it locks on faster than she can flick. That's all I got, nice guide and I hope it helps some people.
you're better of healing him tbh, considering he commonly dies after a second or two of some low damage spam.

This is definitely one of the best guides on Mercy I've seen so far. I like how mercy when played correctly can turn the tide of a close game. But have never realized there are so much depth to the decision making process a GM level mercy considers. The tip on dmg amp is just valuable, I almost never do that in game, will try that from here on.

As long as you thank me for it, or stay on the objective, and don't constantly dash in just to die, sure.
This video is so great! Happy to say I already do most of these things but also learned a few things I could start doing, or do better as well. I main Mercy and Winston so when I'm tanking and our Mercy goes down, I peel back when safe to pick her up and get her to the team faster.
Something I didn't see mentioned, unless I missed it:
-Mercy's Guardian Angel works a lot like Widowmaker's Grappling hook. As a result you can actually hit the JUMP button at the end of it to launch yourself a bit further. This can be useful to get to ledges above a teammate, and sometimes even bugs out launching you much further than it should lol.

Perfect guide, I love Mercy and you hit basically all the relevant tips, I do my best to keep track of them. Since the latest change to Mercy where they actually boosted her mobility _a lot_ with the new jump-from-angel-dash thingy, this actually makes positioning and mobility over all a lot easier but takes a couple of games to get used to. Thanks for the guide!

As a Sombra main (watching this video to learn how to flex off onto Mercy better, I'm still learning), BLESS YOU for saying this. I have to tell mercy mains "Don't heal me, I want to charge EMP" all too often, and sometimes they just don't get it.
The only bad thing about this video is the volume. Amazing tips, great "all you need to know" in general and your voice, shit, is so relaxing that i will return if i can't sleep. Ty for everything keep up the good work!

For every one player like Animetic, there's 100 Mercy's in Plat who lost their team a fight because they didn't call out the enemies diving them or a flanker repositioning. I'm not saying you 100% need a mic but I can't stress enough how much it helps! Mercy is the perfect character to shotcall with because she can look around while doing her job and your team will be really greatful for extra information
Where did you get the statistics from lol also i don't think you NEED a mic to play mercy I don't play with a mic not because I don't want to but because I don't feel comfortable talking with one and there are loads of other mercy mains like that and animetic is an exceptionally good mercy she is an example along with lots of others that you dont need a mic to play mercy

Love your tips. People underestimate the amount of work being a good mercy takes. So many mercy plays just make me cringe and die a little on the inside.
