Once in a game i got a wrecking ball who never stayed on the point, he tried to dive the enemy alone and dying Before we lose that game he said: "Please report our useless mercy, he never healed me, used the pistol a lot, and because of him we lose the game" The good part of the story was that both teams join forces to make him eat his words typing all the mistakes he made and how he got into all fights alone leaving his team on 5v6
something I keep learning from your videos is the importance of watching for ally abilities. My value contribution has shot through the roof because hog seems to be picked a lot right now, at least at my rank, and when I'm laser focused and see him begin his hook animation, I'm able to flick to damage boost because I watch your videos and you always talk about how important it is to damage boost at the right moment and heal during ability downtime. This definitely was the reason I was able to climb into top 500 during competitive team death match because hog/reaper/mercy is such a deadly combination when the mercy is doing the kinds of things you talk about in your videos.
4:40 Every time I try to tell the team to stay closer, they ignore me. When they are low, they expect me to fly through the middle of the fight past 3 walls onto a second floor balcony to heal them. When they die there, I obviously cannot rez them. If I am dying a lot because they aren't grouped up and I can't position myself well because of it, they blame Mercy. If I am being flanked, die, and ask for help, they say that if I would heal them, I wouldn't die (despite the fact they are alive after I die). Often, a request or suggestion is met with rage and ire. I really don't understand why that is. Mercy is, without a doubt in my mind, THE BEST hero who can understand what is going on in the battlefield and how to identify mistakes in strategy. Thus, it is COMPLETELY beyond me why people refuse to listen to a Mercy player. I often tell them that I can heal for billions of HP, but healing doesn't get wins. Healing merely sustains the team, but as long as the enemy is alive to contest, you cannot win. Therefore, relying on healing to get kills is a foolish pursuit. Moreover, sustained battles make it a lottery of ultimates on who will win the fight. Getting healed is important, but the DPS need to understand that the healing hero's have competing demands that must be balanced. The priority for the healer is to stay alive. A dead healer heals no one. If they would just protect their healer, they would see their survivability go up greatly. So, to the DPS, if you want to live, protect your healer. Do not succumb to the ambition to be a soldier of fortune and get sextuple kills. It ain't happening.
underrated tactic that i've come to love: damage boosting a charging rein. am i 100% certain it actually increases the damage when rein charges an enemy into a wall? no. does it spark joy anyway? yes.
Yep. Mercy is my go to when I'm support (I main tank then support. my friend the reverse). her healing output makes me sad at times but I adore her mobility and "cant' kill me" moments. I really need to learn to superjump with a controller though. Its hard. (Can't use keyboard due to injuries- very well. Someday I'll buy like a joystrick or something ) Fun thing ( around 3000 area) my friend and I have done a few times. Is super powered flame strike the enemy door at the beginning of match. We've killed 3 and I've gotten 80% of a charge off the opepner before. Was tasty. Really should not work, but surprising amount of times it does. (echenwald is the best spot for it)
As a ball main, I consider it my responsibility to run back to my supports for healing, not the other way around. I’m the one with the best mobility in the game, not them and expecting them to keep up with my shenanigans is just unfair.
I always find it funny when Your team is really spread out and multiple people ask for healing when its impossible to heal them and they die and get angry and your just there like ._.
I deal with this every other game it feels like. I always spam group up with me, then if they don’t then I don’t stress myself out trying to heal them.
I don't know how many times I've attempted to superjump and then a zarya comes along and fires her graviton surge. Like I don't want to superjump on my front line tanks but I need to get away from this tracer and reposition on the highground.

Damage boosting Rein's fire strike contributes insane value. Last night, I was watching a replay of one of my games in low plat, and I damage boosted a fire strike that got my Rein 20% ult charge. Twenty percent. In the first few seconds of the match. I think I got around 8-9% for that, too. So yeah. Big fan of damage boosting the ol' fire strike, and the best way in my experience to make sure we get that kind of value is to communicate with my Rein, whether it's over voice or just in text chat. And normally, if we have a Moira, I'll tell my team that I'll damage boost Moira's orb first and then Rein's fire strike, and then we get even more value in the first few seconds. GOD I LOVE DAMAGE BOOST
@Leo BROWN I'm not 100% familiar with the exact numbers related to Rein's firestrike, so I'll assume you're correct. So let's say Rein is going to use firestrike and without Mercy's damage boost, it will get him 20% ult charge. Great! But Mercy's damage boost increases damage by 30%, which means Rein would get 30% extra ult charge. In this case, if Mercy boosts Rein's firestrike, he would 26% ult charge as opposed to 20% on his own. In a game where every second matters and where getting your ult one second earlier can mean that you win the match, 6% extra ult charge for the same amount of work at the very beginning of the round is beyond huge.
@AntiangelRaphael I think that's a valid concern, but the ult charge that both Mercy and Moira get from the damage boosted damage orb makes up for the ult charge that JUST the enemy supports get. My opinion is based on this wiki article that breaks down how ultimates work: overwatch.gamepedia.com/Ultimate_ability The cost of Valkyrie is 1820, and Mercy gains the same amount of ult points (idk if that's the right term) as she heals + her passive gain. So the most she could get from healing the damage done by one damage orb is 200 because one damage orb can only do 200 hp. So the most ult charge you can get is about 10-11%, AND this ult charge might end up getting shared between two supports. However, if Moira's damage orb does the full 200 hp, Mercy will get 260 ult points if she damage boosts it AND Moira will get 260 ult points as well, so a damage boosted damage orb gives more value to your team than it does the enemy team. Granted, this value somewhat decreases if Mercy and/or Moira already has ult, but this is at the beginning of the match. And damage boosting the orb may still be worth it in the middle of a fight if enemies are low and the orb might finish them off.

I've heard a guy saying he plays Mercy 'cause it's satisfying to watch her heal with the stick but not so satisfying to demage boost so he just kept healing us instead 😂
5:26 one more thing to note with this, is, depending on the highground, Winston's Tesla Cannon can still reach you once you've hit the floor, meaning he'll stay on high ground. When that happens, don't fly back up to high ground (naturally). Try to fly somewhere else or walk away until he does drop

Can I just say thank you for all your super useful tips! Like I never thought of boosting baby D.Va to help her get mech back more quickly & now I try to do that more often when I play. Sadly not everyone thinks about that, & I sometimes will get shit from teammates asking why I'm boosting useless damage (which I disagree with anyway because baby D.Va's pistol can actually do solid damage to long-distance targets but that's a different argument lol) instead of healing/boosting others. I don't always feel comfortable on mic telling them it's to get her ult charged quicker but, eh. The D.Va players usually thank me anyway haha
oh my god i had a game where i was at 2999 and lost. I'll be on a win streak and then when I'm definitely one game away from diamond my team will get tilted somehow and start yelling at each other and lose

Orisa is actually surprisingly a really good damage boost target lol. She’s really good at shield break now too with it. I never thought to body block in Sigma Ult before that’s really creative, I might have to try it out haha. Also you’re getting really good at superjump resses 👀

You don’t have to hold a convo, just make call outs. Sometimes the team ain’t paying attention so saying that you are getting massacred by a Genji would increase the chance of someone saving you
If you use Valk during Sigma's ult and reposition above higher ground, you take less damage because you're slammed a shorter distance. Also, Valking OVER Zarya's ult allows you to group heal everyone caught in her ult without getting caught yourself
i love watching mercy videos, but i have two crucial problems: i hate to speak to strangers so i NEVER use voice chat, and im only playing classic quickplay because im a casual so there usually is netiher a main nor an off healer...im healing solo with mercy most of the time xD (can be actually fun!, or devastating)

I have a few questions. So Valkyrie is impervious to Sigma's ult and can body-block for your teammates? I'm also curious some details on how boost works. If I damage boost rein's fire strike, can I take off the beam after he makes the shot immediately and still get the effect? Can I boost him while the strike is in motion and get the effect as well?

That would be the "Guardian Angel Prefers Beam Target" setting - turn it off and you can fly to x while healing y

I always try to tell my rein on defense "hey rein fire strike the door I'll damage boost it" and they are always like "say no more"

If you use Valk during Sigma's ult and reposition above higher ground, you take less damage because you're slammed a shorter distance. Also, Valking OVER Zarya's ult allows you to group heal everyone caught in her ult without getting caught yourself
i love watching mercy videos, but i have two crucial problems: i hate to speak to strangers so i NEVER use voice chat, and im only playing classic quickplay because im a casual so there usually is netiher a main nor an off healer...im healing solo with mercy most of the time xD (can be actually fun!, or devastating)
