    I remember the day I went to KB Toys and foudn this on discount for about half off. I was so excited. I had just gotten one of my first paychecks from one of my first jobs i had in high school. I worked at Taco Bell. I felt like an adult buying my own toys with my own paycheck. I loved this piece. I ended up giving mine to some kids when I decided I was too old for toys. That was just a phase, luckily. But a lot of my good stuff is long gone.

      Those crazy phases where we think we have to grow up. Some many toys I wish I never got rid of. Luckily none of those were my Star Wars or Transformer toys.

    This was the first Star Wars toy I owned and I covered up my ears when the sound on 10:09-10:14 was heard.

    Great review and channel, thanks very much. I just bought one of these on ebay and I had a hell of a time getting the legs and side guns on. I finally figured out that if I placed the legs in the slot and then went under the body with both thumbs and pushed it in from under it snapped in place. With the side guns that shoot the missiles I almost gave up for fear of breaking them, but once I pointed them to the sky and pressed in they finally snapped into place. To get the missiles to shoot better press them in a few times to coil the spring. With the laser canons that make sound and light up red actually if you move the slide mechanism all the way back and move it a little more back it engages the sound/light mechanism, then if you move the slide mechanism all the way forward and press it a little more forward it engages the sound/light mechanism, you don't have to move it violently back and forth to get it to work, basically the sound/light engages when the slide is moved all the way back and all the way forward. Hope that helps some people out because it frustrated me a bit.

    If you "hold down" the button for a longer duration it creates the "crushing sound" your looking for.

    Very good review!
    I'm a child of the 70's and I really wanted one of these vehicles, didn't get one. So when this came out in 97, on a complete whim, I bought one. Still have it, it's on display on my little Hoth diorama.
    Yeah, the chin guns on mine take a bit to light up also, they will not activate if I'm gentle. So I'd guess it is a design thing.

    Yeah, 1997 Kenner/Hasbro LOVED that spackled plastic stuff. The snowspeeder had it. R5-D4 had it. The Sandtrooper had it kinda. It must have been a cheap way to get more weathering into the vehicle while saving on painting.

    And I thought that only my AT-AT has some issues with gun sounds trigger. I was afraid that maybe it was broken in the electronics or something. Thank you for showing me another example of walker with that issue.

    Recently I got the 1981 atat And it looks just like this with no weathering but it has lots more stickers no console in the middle and the guns don’t shoot but on the bottom guns the handle controls those by the way they light up by using the lightbulb in the go back-and-forth

    Hi, I just ordered this from eBay. I got a good deal due to it missing a cheek gun and the 2 chin guns. But I got it for under 100 with shipping it came to about 80 bucks so the missing guns are no problem! I can find them if I really want them. But I’m wondering if the back door opens? I know the vintage collection one comes with a speeder in the back. So I’m wondering if this one has a door in back and if so is there room for a speeder if I want to put one in?

    Great review. Quick question i just received one of these from ebay and the legs just sort of balance in the slots. Shouldn't they click into place? they dont' look broken but they don't click either. Any advice would be appreciated. thx

    Nice video and production value. Do people have nostalgia for 90s yet?

    • @toyshelfreview
      @toyshelfreview  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I think the nostalgia is getting there. Certainly for the Star Wars toys it seems. I think in a just a couple years the 90s will start to be looked back on as people my age look back on the 80s. Maybe we're there and I just haven't noticed

    I wonder if you could just shove something inside to jam the handle into a specific position and be able to pose the head that way.

    • @toyshelfreview
      @toyshelfreview  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure something could be done. I use thumbtacks to keep the legs of one of my power droids straight and another on one of the landing gears of a Y-Wing I have to keep it extended :)

    • @Takeshi357
      @Takeshi357 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I finally got one of these myself and I kinda doubt it now, the weight of the head would require something rather substantial.
      One thing that bugs me is that I can hear the loose wires inside the neck scrape against the plastic when I move the head.

    Did they make a muddy feet version that is 1997 or 1998 as some sellers claim? I know they did in 2006, but i just bought one on ebay sayinging 1997 but i cant see any examples of boxs and packaging other than the one you have here

    • @toyshelfreview
      @toyshelfreview  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The one released in the Saga Collection was just a repaint of this release. I’m not home right now to double check but my best guess is the date stamp on the toy would remain 1997 which might be where the confusion is. Then the next Return Of The Jedi version came in the Vintage Collection for 2012

    • @audibleadventures9004
      @audibleadventures9004 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@toyshelfreview thanks im pretty sure its a 2006 saga, which as you state is the same as the 90's ones, which is fitting with my current collection from child hood, so that doesn't bother me :D so glad to finally have one!
