    A lot of it is head jaw and tongue position. That may not fix all of the pain but it’ll keep you from developing a hump and developing surrounding muscle issues. Every morning I retract my jaw and tongue, open my mouth wide while keeping it retracted, and just roll my head around and stretch it. It also helps to actually know what muscles are are in the head and neck and where they connect. Lastly, strengthen your spine, support your lower lumbar if needed, and practice good posture overall.

    Heat will increase inflammation in neck. And stretching neck backward will press directly on the nerves. Chin tucks are the best.

    • @drkristieennis
      @drkristieennis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chin tucks are generally pretty good exercises:) I do find it depends on which area of the neck is an issue and if there is any compression. Gentle range of motion can actually feel really good.
      Not all arthritis has an inflammatory component so heat also sometimes feels really good:)

    What about after getting home again after an unexpected longer time outdoors in very cold weather when missing a bus stop while needing to take 3 busses in a fast growing city while another LRT route is being built? Should I apply heat right away or is a very warm bath good enough? Another question I have is what should I do after overdoing things after trying a new method of carrying my groceries home on the bus in the winter too? Should I then appy a cold pack after getting home that day or only let my body recover on its own?
