      5:59 i have heard several times before to ask the interviewers this:
      "what is it about my background and experience that made ypu decide to bring me in for an interview?"
      This gets them thinking deeper about the candidate and the interviewers start to sell the candidate.....paints them in a positive light to begin with

    Do you have a video or advance for a dinner interview? I have made it to the final round, and the night before the panel interview, I will be having dinner with the Sr VP. We have talked before via Zoom on the last interview, so I know we get along. But is there any advice you can give for the dinner, like how to dress and what to order for dinner?
    Thank you

    I remember, when I took a test in French. The teacher talked all the time, I could say perhaps three sentences. At the end, in his opinion, I am great at French! :) :) If the emplyer talks, let them. They think that you are great when they talk and you listen to them!

    Interviews def stink!!!!! Andy you’re awesome. What I’ve found Covid after has been more about companies not being clear and the non-stop talking!!!!!!!! It’s as if they’re all reading a script! It has definitely happened to me. Andy you’re the best. You’re energetic and so cool. I am sure it was awesome to work with you!

    Hello I watch all your interviews thanks for sharing. I learned so much. Quick question, I show no videos about this issue. I currently have over 16 years of experience in a field, I don't look my age and people that interview me don't believe me on my experience. I am 38 and look 28. What can I do? Please help. Should I tell them my age so I look more creditable in the interview?. I have a job interview coming up. Thank you so much.

    Hi Mr. LaCivita. First, thank you for all the content. Your information is invaluable and has led me to being in serious contention with 4 different employers at the moment. However, with one of these employers I have already had 7 different interviews/conversations and the hiring manager just told me today that after they interview internal candidates this week, there may be one or two more people they want me to meet with. I took this as a major red flag. Is that correct? When do I say enough is enough? The position is a mid-senior level manager position but 8 or 9 interviews seems excessive. Please help!

      @donquique1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are 3 interviews way too many. That is a major red flag. They suffer from analysis paralysis and for a mid manager that is too stupid. It should not take no more than 3 interviews.

    Tricky question: What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow? Correct answer: I told them I already got one. Just thought adding a bit of fun here would be nice. I have a second interview tomorrow, and so I am here to watch the video. Thank you for making it.

    I’ve never heard of pay raises two or three times a year. It is once a year after your annual appraisal.

      Every company is different. Every company i worked for before I opened my own business had raise opportunities for its employees at least twice annually.

    I had an interviewer ask me if I knew what something was. And despite my 20 years experience at that time, I had no clue what she was talking about. It freaked me out at the time and shifted the whole vibe. Now I think I would have probably said, Wow, 20 years doing this and I have never heard of that. Instead of grasping at straws like I did. I mean, maybe it’s a trick question. Why would I not know about something in my field at this point? Still dont know what she was talking about

  • @juliekeeney1538

    Would it be bad to ask if they have that mean girls backstabbing kind of work environment? That’s really my only concern. I don’t thrive in that situation.

    I got hit with the “do you have any questions for me” tactic during my final round interview at a Fortune ONE company. It was with a senior director and she didn’t plan any other questions
    it was a little off-putting

    • @andylacivita
      @andylacivita  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Terrible. I can’t believe interviews do no preparation. Lots of them just show up and wing it. Sad.

      I'm guilty of doing this when I know other trusted colleagues have already vetted the candidate, and I'm just there to help close the deal. But I always have other questions ready in case they bomb on asking me questions. Things like "what do you want to make sure I know about you and why you're perfect for the role?"
      I don't do this for very junior employees, though, because I don't expect them to have strong interview skills yet. A senior manager or director should be a good interviewee because the skillets are related. But I don't want to put a mid-level software developer in a position to give me a bad impression just because they are a bad interviewee.
