Please do a review of these if (or when) they start fraying. I know you said they're similar to the tombow, but I bought a tombow and it frayed really badly so I don't want to buy any more of them.
I will definitely let you know once I’ve used them enough to find out about fraying! I know what you mean with Tombow! Mine always fray fast even on very smooth paper!
Hi @paperpirate ! I used to be sort of concerned with this kind of thing but maybe this comment will help. 1.The tombow markers I have used have been really nice actually, it’s amazing when you start using not but obviously the colour fades over time and the tip starts fraying a bit. I remember the first Tombow market I bought, I loved it sooooo much and used it heaps everyday and over time it ran out. I was devastated obviously cos’ I loved those markers. But in the end I kinda do see why it frayed ( being rough and pushing down hard, not closing the lid properly, a lot of overuse, etc). The biggest culprit for me would be the lid closing. The lids are designed to sort of fit in with the ridge of the actual marker, and like the zebra brush mild liners have multiple layers of lid actually inside. So if you push that’s what might happen. Thankss
In terms of actual pastel highlighters, the stabilo ones are MUCH better. They're just not easy to find if you live in the US like I do. I bought some online and like them much better than my mildliners.
Sarah G thats interesting. stabilo highlighters are literally the most common highlighters people use where i am in the uk. they're in every large shop and stationery shops
uco I wish it was like that here! I have never seen them in store here, but I’m sure they sell them at specialty stationary stores or something. I’ll have to keep that in mind when I visit the UK.

Oh thank you! I’m glad you have agreed with my reviews! If you like the colors of the mildliners, you will probably love these in brush pens! Thanks for watching!
@nillasolus i mean, if they can make the zebra mildliner highlighters as pigmented as they are, all they would have to do is take black ink and somehow heavily dilute it?? idk. it shouldn't be that hard 😂
Julie there’s a grey highlighter! i used it, and it’s way better then using a marker. it wasn’t too dark, and you would still see the text underneath! it was in the cool colors pack’
I’ve been dreading to get the Zebra Mildliner highlighters and the Zebra Mildliner brush pens. I wanted the highlighters for middle school, since I would be starting soon. And I wanted the brush pens to use for hand lettering.
No, I haven't tried the brush pen but I would love to buy them.. they are so good sadly I don't kniw how to use them😂 hope they would be release here in Philippines... Yes, I have tried the highlighters and ofcourse I love them too❤ I only bought the light gray one so its color is neutral for the color coding of my subjects. Love Mildliners❤ Sorry if I mispelled😂
Okay I just have to say that when you were writing the names of the colors, your hand lettering looks stunning. Your lettering always looks great, but I dunno, maybe it's like you said with the nibs working WITH you to get those thin upstrokes after applying pressure, but your transitions are flawless and the style looks gorgeous!!! I feel like I've fallen off the lettering planet due to my new job, and I want to continue practicing so that I can get my style to look beautiful like yours! I think it's time I purchase one of your workbooks! That way I have something to guide me when I get back into practicing. It's kinda like riding a bike .. you don't ever really forget how to ride, but if you stop and haven't done it in a while, you are pretty shaky with it lol! And that's how I'm feeling right now! Thank you for being such a wonderful friend and inspiration!
I've used these brush pens for over half a year now and I have to say they are amazing! The fine tip hasn't frayed at all (pleasantly surprised bc the tip of the highlighters frays really quickly) and the brush tip hasn't either even though I use it on all sorts of paper. Sound is noticeable at the start but after a while you barely notice it :) Definitely recommended if you like using mildliners, the colours are spot on. Also good for beginners, v easy to use. Just really hope they make brush pens for the other 2 packs they've released since the colours are just gorgeous!
Thank you for sharing that! It’s so helpful! I still love mine too! I especially love that the fine tip is sturdier than the highlighter fine tip. And I agree they should make the rest of the colors!!
I really want them but I can't find them anywhere 😭 I love the highlighters for my bullet journaling and I really want to pair them 😔 I hope I'm able to find them on Amazon soon 🤞
I JUST got some knock off of these highlighters they are called Milkiner's LOL. They seem to work fine/close enough to the original. I have been looking for these online but they are so expensive to order from these other sites and I feel like they are going to take forever to get here so I just pre-ordered them on Amazon and I'll have them August 1st. I'm excited to try them. I'm glad that there are some other brush pens other than Tombow's as they fray so easy. I recently got some large faber castel pens that I really like.
That sounds like a good choice to just preorder on amazon! I hope you like them! I’ll be curious to hear! And I still need to try the large Faber Castell but I’ve heard good things!
I MADE IT! I'M SORRY I'M LATE! *busts open the door* 🤣 I went from your instagram straight to here, I feel like this is my virtual version of me being late to class and running through the hall from one room to another 😂 I'm one minute in and I already appreciate the heck outta you for the ASMR pen sorting love 😍
I'm wondering if I should get these, some people say their ink runs out quickly and they fray easily. Is this true with anyone who have these? Please let me know, thank you!
Idk how the tombow is tricky to use for beginners my friend has tombow dual pens and I’m a beginner at this and I write pretty well with it she told me that they are pretty hard to use for beginners and that she was surprised at how I can do well with it, also can I order these some where cause I don’t think I have mildliners where I live and idk where to order them cause I want it to come without it being damaged
I have the gray chisel/fine tip highlighter and the fine tip frayed after a year, but the worst part is the ink turns from gray to faint greenish gray over a month or two. Maybe it's the paper I used (store bought calendars) but it's gross and annoying.
Do you happen to have any other suggestions on which paper to use with brush pens? For some reason I feel like the HP Premium paper takes away some of the vibrancy of the colors and I love the Canson Marker paper, but it's a bit expensive for paper, especially when it's just for practice lol
You could try a Rhodia pad! Sometimes they’re on sale for less expensive than marker paper or smooth Bristol paper. But I haven’t found anything as cheap as HP premium 32 paper!
I love the highlighters! When I went to Japan in January I bought all the color packs (except the fluorescent one because I already had them!). I'm going to Japan again next month so I'm hoping to find these so I don't have to wait for August/can hopefully get them for a cheaper price! :)
I want the darker color set! I feel a bit uneasy with pastels not because I don’t like them , I actually love them but for photos they don’t show as well 🤷🏻♀️
Robert James Bedia I would prefer more vibrant colors too! I guess the point is that the colors for highlighters is mild so you can see through it. But I don’t use brush pens as highlighters so I don’t know!
I recommend Tokyo Pen Shop for any Japanese stationary needs! Fast shipping right here in US. And you can buy single pens as well (and those fancy fineliners I raved about to you in insta).

"It would be kind of weird to have a black highlighter" The steadler thin textsurfers: "heres a black highlighter!" Really though, it came with a black one! Why?! Also it's very similar to supertips so I recommend! You can do calligraphy like them the same way as supertips, but idk if their softer or harder. Maybe you can do a comparison?
Ooh I haven’t heard of those, I’ll look them up! Thank you! And thank you for letting me know about the black high lighter! I was so curious about that. I wonder what use it has!
@@EnsignInsights if you do a review just make sure you get the slim ones they have a thick version like the chunky stabillo boss ones so its harder to do calligraphy😅
00:00 I have the pack on the furtherst to the left. I really like the blue and green, but the rest are a bit too neon for me although they say they're all pastel colours. Btw I absolutely love you and your calligraphy! Recently got some new brush pens (set of 24) and the water bending pen doesn't work properly because the water (when you squeeze the body for the water to come out) will come out o the brush tip but also all out the body. It's as tight as it can be and now I can't even unscrew it because it's so tight. So annoying and sad, Ive wanted a watercolour blender brush pen for ages 😂😫.
Zebra pens are called mildliners for a reason. They are made to be mild (muted) colors in the first place. If you want bold/brighter/etc. colors, then the Zebra ones are not for you.
In my opinion, i really don’t like these brush pens, they DONT bounce back once it’s frayed( which i know that happens with every brush pen) but these frayed SO fast, even on smooth paper
You know the feeling when you scratch your nails over a chalkboard?... That's what just went through me when you used the brushpens on the paper...
i love everything about these pens but EXCEPT THE SOUND IT MAKE ON PAPER
Lol
Thi-Antra Chirasarn ok why
shookynad - that sound bothers me too. In class, it’s awful😂😂 but as far as i know, that’s pretty common for brush pens🤷♀️
@Thi-Antra Chirasarn just the highlighter, right?
It's pretty common for brush pens to make that sound
When you JUST got mildliners and now there are new ones...
lol rlly?
Ahahahah exactly
Please do a review of these if (or when) they start fraying. I know you said they're similar to the tombow, but I bought a tombow and it frayed really badly so I don't want to buy any more of them.
You should use a different paper. Some papers are textured and will be rough on the brush pen and make it fray easier. Hope that helped!
I will definitely let you know once I’ve used them enough to find out about fraying! I know what you mean with Tombow! Mine always fray fast even on very smooth paper!
