Well said Shawn !! Amber has a very eloquent way of describing the song or the singers….. even although some of them are grammatically incorrect (YES !! I am the Grammar Police !’ Hehhehehehe)
I love that the Bee Gees are getting such a positive reappraisal. They really got a raw deal in the 80s with the disco backlash, you have no idea how poisonous and cruel that was. Good music wins out in the end, thankfully.
Fully agree - and the crass irony that four straight dudes suffered this abject humiliation that was straight out homophobia. The anti disco toxicity was a homophobic pushback and fully aligned to the Aids pandemic hysteria. I’m quite sure the Gibbs saw this for what it really was. Bigotry
Everyone seems to do the disco era of the Bee Gees but they are so much more than that. I grew up with this great group. Love their early music especially 60's-70's. Some of their early hits were "Spicks & Specks", "New York Mining Disaster 1941", "To Love Somebody", "Holiday", "Massachusetts", "World", "And The Sun Will Shine", "Really & Sincerely", "Words", "The Singer Sang His Song", "I've Gotta Get A Message To You", "Lonely Days", "I Started A Joke", "Melody Fair", "First of May", "Give Your Best", "Lamplight" etc.
I'm surprised that you missed Lonely Days, Lonely Nights in your named songs but a lot of people seem to forget about that great song for some strange reason... They have reacted to How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, although not before they reacted to the same song by Al Green... On a related note, they also did I Heard It On The Grape Vine by Creedance Clearwater Revival and still haven't reacted to what I consider to be the better version by Marvin Gaye. They seem to do the not so good versions first, Lol.
"Nights on Broadway" is easily one of my favorite Bee Gees songs. "Heartbreaker," "One," and "Words" (which Elvis covered) would also be good picks. Obviously, there's a lot to choose from.
It was so precious when Jordan would look at Amber and kind of point at Amber and gesture like he wanted a hug when the “more than a woman” chorus came on. They play some great music but the chemistry and interaction between these two is the best part of their videos. ☺️
She talked about the BeeGees parents raising them right, but I'd say their Jordan and Amber's parents raised them right, as I'm sure they will do with their little ones :)
They transcend six DECADES of music. During the 80s they got backlash for their disco music. Saturday Night Fever was theirs, They used the time to write for other singers. Barbara Streisand comes to mind.
Yes Saturday Night Fever was a mile stone for the Bee Gees and huge success for both them with songs going to #1. And the movie was also a huge success. Check out all the songs from it.
The "disco era" almost destroyed their career. Nobody would play them in the 80's, sick of their success (if you have great success somebody has to knock you off your pedestal) and tired of the squeaky falsetto. They should have won an Oscar for the SNF sound track however because it had such success. One thing the sound track did achieve was, after that, the Academy was forced to accept contemporary music as worthy of being recognized. That was the one award for which they were ripped off. As a teen in the 1960's their early music caught my attention and I've been a fan since 1967. Disco not so much.
Jay, I can tell that you’re really feeling the song when Barry sang the line “this is the only way that we should fly. “The tone of the notes he is singing just gets inside of you and makes you feel good.
This is my 75 year old Mother's favorite song. She used to dance all over the house to "More than a Woman." Thank you for bringing a smile to my face today!
Please react to the Bee Gees vocally led by Robin (instead of Barry)…his voice is so achingly beautiful. This way you can also listen to their earlier stuff “I Started A Joke”
All three (individually) have incredible voices & I love their earlier stuff even more than this period of theirs (although “How Deep is Your Love”, “Jive Talkin” & “Words” rival even their earlier stuff. Everything they do is amazing.
The bee gees were so good they dominated the airwaves with hit after hit. 5hey were In the public eye so much they got overplayed. No problem they just wrote for many artists of the time. They were great.
You have to react to the Bee Gees earlier work that are just as good if not better than their later ones. And their catalogue is huge: I Got To Get A Message To You, Massachusetts, Words, I Started A Joke, Don’t Forget To Remember, New York Mining Disaster, I Can’t See Nobody, First Of May, Melody Fair, Every Christian Hearted Man Will Show You. And there is more. Much more which I can’t recall off the top of my head. And all these hits were from the years 1967 to ‘70.
I agree! I think 1966 to 69 are the best years for them. Those were the good old days of the Bee Gees. Maurice singing along in To love Somedody was great. He could hit the high notes just like his brothers.
Yes! If someone is listening only to the late 70s era Bee Gees music (which I adore) they’re getting just a tiny fraction of their overall catalog. Which is ah-mazing!
Anyone who mentions Every Christian Lion Heated Man Will Show You is a person you give creedence. I would add stuff from the early 70s especially from Main Course (my fave Bee Gees album).... songs like Come On Over, Wind of Change, Baby As You Turn Away, as well as the hits from this one. Post Spirits Having Flown I would recommend You Win Again, One, and This Is Where I Came In, which is one of the last Bee Gees songs with the three brothers. An amazing band, that is so underrated.
"LOVE YOU INSIDE OUT" by the Bee Gees, easily one of Barry's best vocals. Also, "REACHING OUT" - Barry's riffs at the end are some of the best vocals ever recorded! What a genius!
This is how “special” The Bee Gees were.In 1976 my dad bought an album from The Bee Gees .First time ever hearing them sing (especially the songs “you stepped into my life” & “love so right”).I asked my dad,who are singing those songs? At that time I hard ever talked;I was 8 years old at the time. That was the first time I’ve ever asked my dad a question 😁.They were special back then bro .
Saturday Night Fever. The producers approached the Bee Gees to do one or two tracks, the Bee Gees already had most of the music ready, as if they were waiting for a movie to go with the "Disco" album. The movie opens with the electrifying "Stayin Alive"
My third favorite song written by them from the Saturday Night Fever album after "Night Fever" and "If I Can't have You". It's a shame enough people don't react to "If I Can't Have You". It's also a shame you didn't react to this while watching the dance sequence featuring John Travolta from the movie "Saturday Night Fever".
"More Than A Woman" was written for Tavares by Barry Gibb of The Bee Gees both versions were in the movie soundtrack Saturday Night Fever. Tavares won the Grammy for this song. You should probably give the other version a listen for a GREAT comparison. Loved this!!!
David Phillips - Here we go again. "More than a woman" was not written by Barry alone but a collaboration by all three brothers!!!! Barry gets credit for everything.
I'm a bit late to this reaction, but I have to say, I've always adored how much Jay loves Barry - and when he pulls out the pic of Baz and Amber says 'he looks at it all the time' I couldn't help laughing out loud. As a life-long Barry fangirl myself I can totally relate! Anyway, you two are classic - I will always watch for you BeeGees reactions. lol
I doubt you'll even see this but, here goes -- Early Bee Gees had a much different sound, for the most part, than their Disco and post-Disco music. I'd like to recommend "Bury Me Down by the River" from the "Cucumber Castle" album. It's not like anything you've heard so far. The entire album is amazing. Their '60s stuff is my favorite, beautiful lyrics and very soulful...
I grew up in the 70’s, but my older brother grew up in the 70’s. He had a lot of their 60’s pop releases on 45 that I used to play when he wasn’t home. I distinctly remember listening to “Run To Me” a lot. Their 60’s catalog is woefully under appreciated for sure!
Early Bee Gees are almost never mentioned due to the hugeness they became during the disco era......more people need to look further back into their beginnings and non disco songs like "I told the world a Joke". I probably got that title wrong but you know what I am talking about. I have soo much Bee Gees on vynle. Tripping musically today and busting out my Bee Gees collection on the vynle and enjoying pure music including the skips and pops.
I remember being the only guy working in a warehouse full of women, but I loved the gal in the office and would sing loud and proud. Great reaction to another classic by one of the best groups ever.
Jay, I definitely feel how you feel! The Bee Gees will forever be my Super Group! No one could ever be better than them vocally! They never fail to give me chills to this very day!
This song reminds me of my Mom teaching my brothers and I how to dance in our living room growing up in south western Michigan. She told us that if we really want to win our dream girl's heart, then we should learn how she dances, and learn to make her smile. She told us that to be fake is never ever acceptable! We cannot be fake when dancing, because it comes from a place so real and genuine, that we cannot help but move to the music. I remember spinning around the living room with the music blaring from my parents record tower, and just laughing and smiling until we forgot where we were. Thanks for the memory blast! It means alot! Thanks!
Awesome reaction wow. Andy is my fav. i crushed on Andy and still do. You should watch the video of Saturday night fever when John Danced to this song. My dance partner Roger and i were Disco Grand Champions 3/31/2017 we danced to this song in the competition and ended up with the winning score.
So many beautiful memories this song brings.... what a way to express your feelings! We were married for only two years (1975 to 1977), just had our first baby, ... life was so good!!! The Bee Gees are a blessing to humanity. May 6, 2022
I was just starting to listen to popular music in the late 1970s when disco was king. I asked my parents for a Bee Gees album for my birthday (or Christmas, I don't remember). They got me one of their earlier albums, before they started singing disco. You should listen to some of their earlier stuff; it's got a bit of a folk feel to it, with those same high voices. The album I got was a best of compilation: "Best of Bee Gees", released 1969, with the following songs: Side one No. Title Length 1. "Holiday" (Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb) 2:53 2. "I've Gotta Get a Message to You" 2:59 3. "I Can't See Nobody" (Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb) 3:45 4. "Words" 3:13 5. "I Started a Joke" 3:07 6. "Spicks and Specks" (Barry Gibb) 2:52 Side two No. Title Length 1. "First of May" 2:48 2. "World" 3:13 3. "Massachusetts" 2:23 4. "To Love Somebody" (Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb) 3:00 5. "Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You" 3:38 6. "New York Mining Disaster 1941" (Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb) 2:09
They are the best group ever. I watched you react to Andy Gibb and yes he was a teenage heart throb. But i think you slighted what a heart throb Barry was. . Ladies LOVED this man. Great reactions thank you.
A couple days ago, Ralph Tavares passed away. He was a member of the 70's R&B group Tavares. They had hits with "It Only Takes a Minute" and "Heaven Must be Missing an Angel". They sang the Bee Gees song "More Than a Woman". Both version appeared in the movie "Saturday Night Fever". RIP Ralph.
Hey, I’m 58 and the Bee Gees are my all time favorite group! You know singers are great when almost 40 years apart we love the same singers! Peace out!
Another of my favorites by them. The group *Tavares* has a song called "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" that is so sweet. When I was in high school, my boyfriend and I were into "oldies" and that song was one of out favorites. He'd sing it to me along with the song, and I'd always get a huge smile on my face.
"Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" is one of my favorites, too! And yes, Kenn, I was thinking the same thing about the Tavares version of "More Than a Woman."
I remember putting my cassette recorder beside the radio to record this when I was a kid. I memorized this song within ten minutes, and it still plays in my head to this day - I am definitely grateful for that. Please don't stop learning more about this outstanding group, they are hands down one of the best song writing trios of modern times and their music stands the test of time with great lyrics and beats that hit.
Your reactions to my favorite songs is like watching a visual of what happens in my heart when I hear them. So uplifting in this weird time in history. One song I now love by BeeGees that I never gave a chance to is Fanny. It's beautiful.
“Every Bee Gees song makes you want to dance or fall in love” is the best description of The Bee Gees I’ve ever heard. She’s insightful af

🙌🏼🙌🏼 YES!!! Exactly what I thought too ♥️
Well said Shawn !! Amber has a very eloquent way of describing the song or the singers….. even although some of them are grammatically incorrect (YES !! I am the Grammar Police !’ Hehhehehehe)

Just think about this , those older people you see walking around are the same ones who danced to the bee gees when we were in our prime .
"I found my new song to you!!!" 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I am 82 years old. I love the BEEGEES, and I love you two.
I truly hope you guys can meet Barry Gibb. #BarryGibb, #BeeGees
"Why are the bee gees so darn good?"
Because they have amazing voices and songwriting skills and also their voices are one of the best of all time
👌👏 Yes they are 🌟
and don't forget about their voices
I love that the Bee Gees are getting such a positive reappraisal. They really got a raw deal in the 80s with the disco backlash, you have no idea how poisonous and cruel that was. Good music wins out in the end, thankfully.
True; I really hated the BeeGees' disco sound In the70s (I was into punk and roots rock), but it sounds pretty good these days!

@@ScottPothan That is exactly what it was, and you have to have lived at that time to really understand how bad it was.
Raw deal in the 80s or not, they still made it to the Top 40 in the USA 3 times during that decade. Because they were THAT GOOD. :)
@@calgaryjimbo they had dropped disco by the ‘80’s. That’s exactly the point
Every Saturday night for years. Didn't matter whether it was Disco or Country. DANCING was the thing. I miss it. I love to dance.
One of the greatest groups ever, regardless of genre, both performing and writing. "Nights on Broadway" is their hidden gem for me.
My favorite song of theirs
I don't really think that's hidden. You definitely got the gem part right though.
Me as well; by far my favorite Bee Gees song ❤️
Yes they’re amazing. I wish they’d react to more post SNF Bee Gees, with one of my personal favs “Love You Inside Out” or “Tragedy”
They owned the 70s. And a big part of the 60s
Dude, you enjoy beegees exactly like I do. The smile says it all
Everything had felt better back then . 😊
Wish we could go back to the 70 s and 80 s again. Simpler and easier way of life in so many ways. And the music and dance and the movies

New York Mining Disaster is a great song.

"How deep is your Love" is hands down my favorite song from this group.
I have always loved the Bee Gees I loved the Disco era.
The album I got was a best of compilation: "Best of Bee Gees", released 1969, with the following songs:
Side one
No. Title Length
1. "Holiday" (Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb) 2:53
2. "I've Gotta Get a Message to You" 2:59
3. "I Can't See Nobody" (Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb) 3:45
4. "Words" 3:13
5. "I Started a Joke" 3:07
6. "Spicks and Specks" (Barry Gibb) 2:52
Side two
No. Title Length
1. "First of May" 2:48
2. "World" 3:13
3. "Massachusetts" 2:23
4. "To Love Somebody" (Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb) 3:00
5. "Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You" 3:38
6. "New York Mining Disaster 1941" (Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb) 2:09
I hope Barry sees this 😃
They are the best group ever. I watched you react to Andy Gibb and yes he was a teenage heart throb. But i think you slighted what a heart throb Barry was. . Ladies LOVED this man. Great reactions thank you.
We still do, 🤣
A couple days ago, Ralph Tavares passed away. He was a member of the 70's R&B group Tavares. They had hits with "It Only Takes a Minute" and "Heaven Must be Missing an Angel". They sang the Bee Gees song "More Than a Woman". Both version appeared in the movie "Saturday Night Fever". RIP Ralph.
This is the Ultimate Bee Gees Song ❣️😊
Hey, I’m 58 and the Bee Gees are my all time favorite group! You know singers are great when almost 40 years apart we love the same singers! Peace out!
I’m over here swooning ,one of my favorite songs by the BEE GEES
Yesssss es el numero uno Barry is great, Bee Gees, the best for ever
Another of my favorites by them.
The group *Tavares* has a song called "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" that is so sweet. When I was in high school, my boyfriend and I were into "oldies" and that song was one of out favorites. He'd sing it to me along with the song, and I'd always get a huge smile on my face.
Tavares also recorded "More Than A Woman" for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack!
"Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" is one of my favorites, too! And yes, Kenn, I was thinking the same thing about the Tavares version of "More Than a Woman."

I've heard and like their version.
Love you both. My brother's name is Barry and I have loved the Bee Gees for 50 years. I am 62!!!!
They really were a very special band. True legends for all time and well deserving of that title
My favorite bee gees song... smoothest voice ever...
Bee gees are the best!!! Ever!!!
Your reactions to my favorite songs is like watching a visual of what happens in my heart when I hear them. So uplifting in this weird time in history. One song I now love by BeeGees that I never gave a chance to is Fanny. It's beautiful.
Peaceful disco, amazing concept. Only the Bee Gees could do it. Disco rules and will always stay somewhere in our body & soul
