Hey there very good tutorial I've been busy gotta get my head on my Fantom buddy, by the way have thought about the Mpc x yet.
I like the MPC X, I've only used it at the store with the Fantom linked together. I'm actually getting the MPC next, it will be my first MPC but I liked what I've seen so far.
@@ochiglobal2418 no lie, one of the best, if not THE best tutorial I’ve seen thus far regarding a detailed walkthrough of the workflow. I just got my fantom 6 a few days ago to go along with my mpc live 2 and have been trying to figure it out. Thanks for the vid. I now have a better understanding of how to at least begin a song from scratch (right when I power on the fantom)

@@braintraxmusic Thanks, I wanted to make the type of video I would need if I just got the Keyboard. Enjoy. Once this lockdown is over we can get back to making new videos. Im looking at matching with the MPC Pro soon. So we'll repost when that happens.

I just got my new Fantom 88 key back in Feb. I am still trying to learn how to do stuff besides just play. My question to you is: there are a lot of single note lead sounds under the synth category. Is there a way to take single note lead sounds and get them to play throughout the entire 88 keys? I like many of the sounds and I would like to play chords to create new songs. Does the fantom have the capability to take a sound that is a lead sound and will only play on one note at a time, and be able to play chords on all 88 keys?
Load the sound up, then hit the parameter button (either on screen or the dedicated button with a white box around it). In the parameter menu you can change the type of lead voice from 'mono' to 'poly' and then you will be able to play chords with it. Save it as a part of a new scene and you can go back to it whenever you want.

nice tutorial and is just another example of the upgrades in visual adjustment that the new Fantom offers.......I use a master keyboard, not a DAW, and currently my Motif sequencer offers me 16 sections of 16 instruments.....a 16x16 grid as opposed to an 8x16 grid of the Fantom...in addition to that, my patterns can be 99 measures long, as opposed to the 32 limit on the Fantom, and finally, I can have ANY time signature, literally, every possible one, again, instead of the couple of time signature limits of the Fantom.....These are the reasons why I haven't bought this keyboard yet, as, I see it as an updated replacement of the Motif as the mastering keyboard, because, aside from these sequencer deficiencies, in all other ways, Fantom has revolutionary editing mechanisms, that vividly show on the colorful screen in real time as you are adjusting them, and many other novel advances. I keep hoping that one of the updates juices up the sequencer to these kind of specs...
Roland is already updating the OS and adding instruments and features.

@@ochiglobal2418 2022 Update: in version 3.01, Korg has added ALL of the time signatures to the sequencer and doubled the allowable bars from 32 to 64, thus addressing some of the major flaws in the original design
How do I export a song to WAV? And how do I overcome its sampling 2 minute limit when my song is 4? It exports as a midi file :/ or MID file which does not play on my computer
Hi don't know if you get on here often but I am frustrated. I see in the video that you simply touch the patterns to highlight. That doesn't seem to work for me. It will play each one I touch and when I group them it puts even the patterns I did not touch in the group too. What am I missing? EDIT I figured out that I can do it by turning off patterns. So it's the reverse of what's in your video for my workstation. I have no idea why

Roland is dumping the patterns i wrote every time i change tones . How do i save the patterns without making a song ?

I know this is very late in the game(& you've probably figured it out long before now)...but you simply hit "write" to save your work.
Thanks for this tutorial(as my Fantom 06 is driving me bat-shit!) I've been a Korg workstation user for decades and the transition from Korg to Roland is killing me. As I understand it, there are only 2 insert effects per tracK? I guess a tutorial on WAV exporting would be useless to me(since apparently, the new Fantom-0 series doesn't have WAV exporting!) 🥵 I suppose resampling the tracks, would be a way of exporting audio( yet another hurdle to overcome.) I'm in way over my head on this keyboard....
Yep, I know, one insert effects per track and then you have the shared IFX. It's a real creativity blocker. I want to add glitch effects to beats on the fantom but have used my other effects already. And there is no bounce to audio function except in a DAW then reimport back on the USB method. This is older than old school

Fantom or Motif . ITs sad they both stink in terms of laying out the complete songwriting environment. The New Fantom is the absolute worst song mode of any machine or workstation on the planet. This is a shame considering its unreal for sounds and the internal drum patterns given to build songs. Motif not much different. Great everywhere else but really do not understand the keep it simple but keep it flexible concept of building songs and the nuances to create them. Give us definitive songwriting palettes to create on. Not this touch screen guessing game of trying to figure out why something is playing when it shouldn't be . The MMT 8 Alesis had it right a long time ago. See Moby. I guarantee he could help both companies develop something so much better for song mode than what is there now
