They usually go bad around the same time in my experience. The p0420 and p0421 comes and goes. The check engine light will come on once in 2,000 miles, then 200 miles. I was just resetting the light. Once the cat's go bad all the way the check engine light comes on every time you start it. That's when I would replace it. Great video.
I did mine a little secret I removed the inner fender covers and for a week every time I came home from driving I sprayed down the bolts while it was hot with pb blaster the nuts came right off easy hope this helps anyone out there
Thanks for sharing this video man. I might have to cut/extract bolts too from the looks of mine. I saw you used a hex bolt to replace the manifold bolt/nut set. Was there any difference between the hex head and original manifold set?
Autozone has a manifold bolt set you can purchase. But because I had to drill out the bolts I had to install a larger bolt. I didn't have any issues with the hex bolt, just make sure to match your thread. I am not sure if I remember correctly but I believe that the original manifold bolt/nut is a 1.25 thread. I tapped the new holes and went with the larger bolt but I believe I still used a 1.25 thread. Hope this helps! God Bless!

I may have to replace my cat converters soon so thanks for putting together the video! Those bolts sure did put up a fight.
I didn't know that they had the manifold/CAT design. How old was your FJ and how many miles when the codes started to show up?
My FJ is a 2007, so it was 16 years old when the lights came on. I think it was around 160K when the codes started coming

What brand was the replacement? Did it throw and codes after the job was done
Nice video, thanks for posting. Did you get/use new gaskets?
The exhaust manifold that I purchased from 1A auto came with new gaskets so I did use new gaskets when I installed the new manifolds! God bless!

Nice simple video! Mine are in need of replacing on my FJ, where did you order these parts from?
@kevinevan173 I ordered the exhaust manifold cat from 1A auto. Decently priced and it was good quality.
Ah thank you for the reply! I was debating over this one and I wanted to see someone else's experience with it! @@NDIYDADP
I did not see any penetrating
Lubricant.
I bet if you let it heat up, those bolts would of came right off.
