I have to comment on this!!! My daughter's 2013 Ford flex has had it's check engine light on and it's time for inspection. The codes say both catalytic front and back are bad. I contacted my mechanic he quoted me a repair price of 1700.00 dollars. Ouch. I have been looking for a way out. So I heard about cataclean. Yesterday I put cataclean in a fourth of a tank of gas. I reset the computer by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. The flex resets the computer after you drive 85 miles. I got on the hyway and drove 100 miles straight stomping the gas from time to time, putting the engine in passing gear to force cataclean past ignition into the catalytic converter. At 85 miles the check engine light DID NOT COME ON. At 100 mile no check engine light. I drove to inspection station. IT PASSED INSPECTION. IM IN SHOCK IT WORKED COST 25 DOLLARS TO SAVE ME 1700.00. IT WORKED.
Thank you for your testimony. Great to hear!
You drove 100 miles on just 1/4 tank gas with the cataclean in it? And drove it hard?
Thank you!
😂😂😂😂
The question is, did the check engine light come back on after driving it for a few days? I believe they are only good for using before an emissions test. But I could be wrong.
Got a P0430 code on my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Added Cataclean to 1/4 tank of gas and drove for 40 miles.. cleared code with scanner and check engine light is out.. also noticed increased gas mileage!!! Stuff is 💯 Legit!!!!
I have a 10 Gallon tank meaning 1/4 tank is about 2.5 gallons.
May I ask what size tank yours is because I have a feeling I should use a little less.
Thanks!
@@MikeKollin He said about 4 or 5 gallons. I noticed the BMW was on 1/8 of a tank.
Had a cat code on my 2000 suburban, (60,000 miles) had it checked by my mechanic who gave me a quote for 1,600 to replace both cats. Used this product, i cleared the code. It's been 5,000 miles with no cat code. This stuff works.
Mine too
Had a p0420 code on my 2020 Chevrolet Trax, took it to mechanic and got quoted 1300 dollars bill. Watched this video bought the cataclean followed the instructions, cleared the code. I've driven 100 miles so far and no light. I'm happy with product so far and do recommend if you don't want to pay that bill
I had the codes in the spring and just this product and now 12K miles later all is still good. 2007 X5 E70 3.0 engine, it works
How long did it take before the codes actually went away, your check engine light went off?
My 328i has recently been getting crappy gas mileage. Glad to see this helped y’all’s cars. I guess I should try this.
Update please, did it work? I'm about to try this out as well.
I also am curious if this worked
Buying a 2016 BMW 328i this week. Have watched this shops videos and very impressed with their honesty and simplicity!!!! Too bad all shops aren’t this upfront and try helping others instead of putting screws to people!!!!
AMEN TO THAT,BUISNESS PRICES GO UP IN COMPETITION WITH OTHER COMPANIES AND BUSINESSES...YET THEY DON'T SEEM TO REALIZE OR COMPREHEND ,PEOPLES HOURLY WAGES AREN'T GOING UP💡💡💡🙄🙏✝️
This stuff does work. But you have to use it as it says. The 1/4 tank part and driving afterwards is very important. 1 part they dont mention is that it helps to drive the vehicle with more of a lead foot then normal. Dont drive it like its the last lap at of the 500 but get the rpms up which will in turn heat up the system and force the crap out of cats and exhaust aswell as increase the injector latency and duty cycle. This stuff, seafoam and crc maf cleaner are 3 of the best products on the market for people to save hundreds if not thousands on stuff that can be done at home in 30 min
What are the consequences on the engine ??? Or to early to say ?? Does cause any other problems???
People with automatic transmissions that come with manual gear change will have an easier time with this
@@scruub Like my Kia Rio, it is automatic but also have a manual stick
Hi, I have a 2014 toyota corolla and my check engine light is still on. I poured it in while the gas tank was on the line before empty. Any help of what to do next or what I did wrong because I followed instructions?
@@scruubhow u down shift them? It’s easy shifting gears but downshifting is hard for me because it jerks forward then back when downshifting

German Engineering is very nice.....very nice for business for all Mechanic shops. 😉

I was quoted over $6k to replace both cats in my odyssey. I'll definitely try this first and pray for the best.
All I have to say is that it actually worked
We use CATACLEAN regularly. It works, and it works brilliantly. Use it every 3 months. Brilliant product, and a good review.
but how many miles are u doing in 3 months?
Did your check engine light go out on its own or did you manually reset it ?

@@TwistaLocc5633 ...it didn't for me. I had to manually reset the light.

Thanks for being honest. No dealership or franchise autoshop will ever, ever tell you this. To anyone that needs your cat check, go
to a private auto shop with recent 5 star reviews in your area, I have three and they all recommended the same, my dealership
said 2 -3k to replace. Not once did they mention anything of this. LOL! Yes, my code went away, unbelievable. It was Chevy dealership.
Did your code go away on its own?
Good for you mate.

@@Kuki_oglmaybe he use the scanner to delete it by force
My local O’Reillys hero😩
My local smog place just recommended me to use this since I failed smog on my 97 4runner. Last time I had to pay the special smog ($200) to get it to pass but I wanted to try and see if I'd pass this time. I was super close but off by less than 1% with how many PPM's I was emitting. I'll see if I remember to check back in after I smog it again. No CEL's or any codes before either.
Been thinking about trying cataclean might have to try it now.. better than buying new catalytic converter‘s!
Did you ever try it?
@@FlaccidFella I think it worked! Didn’t have the car long before I sold it
In the process of waiting for a 2009 Honda Pilot results. Had codes P0420 & P0430, on a close to empty tank filled it up with a similar brand called Dura Lube and filled up the tank. That's really helpful that you have that live data scanner that narrowed it down to a specific oxygen sensor. I remember when I used to work at a small car lot, removing and cleaning the oxygen sensors with a grinder would also help clear the codes at times.
I have a 2020 Malibu RS, and my ✅️ engine light came on yesterday afternoon. I saw a review on Cataclean and admittedly was skeptical. NO BS....this worked!! I didn't use a code reader as i went ol school and just disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes. The smell resembled something like thinner. I did add premium gas this time, and i typically use premium every couple fills.
Just an update. Still have no check engine light.
@@JTMoney333how's the throttle response after using cataclean?
@Hyperborean_2 glad I saw this. The car has been perfect since adding. However, the car is at the dealership now for 2 wks due to an engine code for the turbo. The ECM basically threw it into a lymp mode. Was still driveable, but it was slower. Thankfully, the warranty is still covering the $1500+ repair. Just hit 50k miles, and it's been an awesome car till this point.
@@JTMoney333 thanks for replying good man.
I have similar milage on my 2018 Malibu and the engine has been perfect so far (2.5L N/A - middle east specs); the only downside is sluggish acceleration from 2nd to 3rd (when I floor it) and I'm thinking to make a move with Cataclean.
Overall I'm happy with this car.
Blessings!
@@Hyperborean_2 it's nice that many parts are not that expensive for these vehicles. At least in the states. I'm about to do the front brakes soon as it's still the originals from 2020.
Update: So I tried it and it really worked! At least for long enough for the car to pass emissions and be registered. Then after 200 miles the same check engine light with code P0420 came back on. So I have to say the fact it went 200 miles before coming back on was very impressive and makes me think it helped clean it a bit because in past it would come on after 40-50 miles . This 2003 corolla has over 250k miles so im sure theres a lot of carbon caked on in there! Im gonna run another treatment of it through and we are going to run one bottle a year in our toyota van also as preventative maintenance in hopes it prevents us from ever having the same issue. So while i was skeptical at first,, In the end im quite impressed and for 27 dollars it was definitely worth trying it and Id recommend it. In addition the car accelerates better too so it ay have also cleaned the fuel injectors. And hopefully with a few more treatments enough carbon will be cleaned out of the cat and the issue goes away.
its similar to getting the cat cleaned but the problem is still ther you need to replace the cat which is very expensive
Try a terraclean service 👌🏻👌🏻
Scotty Kilmer recommends 1 gallon of lacquer thinner in the gas tank with 8-9 gallons of gas. Drive for 100-150 miles at highway speeds and that worked for me on 2 different cars. Check engine light has not come back on.
Used 4 bottles of cat over years after a P320 code. It works. I added it a month before smog, passed every time
please post a follow up. I would love to see how well this works long term.
It works I can assure you
Nice. I was checking this video out for my BMW.
Ye I used it on my 02 golf worked great
Surprisingly this product works really well, just follow the directions and save a lot of money.
I have the same issue with my gmc 2015 acadia. And I put that cata clean and it’s really worked! Now there’s no codes. And it has 290 miles on the car
yay great job I was excited that I saw this video because this video gave me hope that I won't have to spend money on a catalytic converter or sensors thank tog so much for this video though really gave me hope I'm excited to try this quick fix
Did it work?
I’m here because I work at an auto parts store doing some research on this but what I’d like to know is what if I can afford to put two bottles in my little Nissan rogue 2016 not that I have a check engine light I just wanna clean it. ????? 🤷♂️
As far as I know catalytic converter works neutralizing exhaust gases through a hot chemical reaction because of the compounds of what it's made of, so, you cannot clean that, so I believe what you're actually doing is cleaning the fuel system, fuel tank, valve seats, injectors and ducts, cleaner fuel system, cleaner combustion, better readings.
It’ll also clean off the O2 sensors
Going to be trying Cataclean on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 V8 this week. Fingers crossed, hope it does the trick!
Did it work
Highly recommended
Shoot…. do they make footwell module clean?
What’s about a jaguar that needs a c converter, it’s it a 1/2 talk gas or 1/4 then do you refill gas after putting in the fluid then go to inspection?
Should engine be off before inspection
Thank you sir , did how you instructed and 👍thank you
I just bought one and I going to try, I see other comment and it since to be working, thanks for your video, God bless ytou.
It works
My wife has a 2009 Jeep Rubicon. Needed to get an inspection but the engine light came on. Bad Cat... so... I asked the mechanic if I could just pick up a replacement cat. He said you can try. So I found one for 230 bucks. Oops, not for this Wrangler. (built in California)(very strict ) It has 4, yes 4 cats, 2 in front Left Right, two in the rear Left right. The right front was giving the code. I said well can't we just replace that one ? So I checked with a local dealer shop. They said you have to replace the entire exhaust on that vehicle. It comes all in one piece. Oh crap... Well how much is that ? $6500.00 WHAT ?!?!?? Good thing I was sitting down. That doesn't include labor. We can't afford that. So being there was only a week left on the current inspection, I did some research scrambling and discovered CATACLEAN. It has to be worth the try. I did it. the product worked clearing the engine light. Took it back to the mechanic and he says WOW. Passed inspection. Unfortunate after a month the engine light came back on. Time to order more. With the engine light on, my wife can't remote start. Being it is a cold winter here on Long Island, and she heads in very early to work, I will have to maintain her ability to warm up before going out into the freezing temps. Thanks Cataclean, you saved us. several thousand dollars. But now I gotta buy more. (sad).
I just changed my old 02 sensors on the downstream. If I used this, Could that damage the new O2 sensors or not?
Great video
Hands down
Appreciate it!
I ran some gas mixed with diesel through my f150 and I no have a clogged cat code do to the bad fuel and exsesive smoking will this work?
Used a similar product from NAPA in 2021 when my 2013 Ford Focus @ 70K miles threw a P0420, the dealership cleared the code for me and told me it was the cat. Dumped an entire bottle in my tank and it never threw the error again until I traded it 40K miles later. Did it work? Seemed to have.
this product does work and will help to clean cats for passing inspection or prevent huge repair bill. however, the downstream oxygen sensor or sensor 2 only monitors the health of the cat, it does nothing for fuel economy. It might be cleaning the upstream sensors which does help with fuel consumption tho i cant be sure
Im gonna try this product and pray it works. My 1st cat is throwing that code, and also my car will go in limp mode if im going up a big mountain, if it gets up to 3100 rpm's. Already put maf sensor, new timing chain, new valve cover gasket, new coil pks and new plugs in it. It idles perfect and no misfiring anywhere. When it does go in limp mode, it dont cut off, but it will get down to about 20 mph. I pull over, cut the car off in like 4 seconds, start it back up, it resets all the lights that come on when it went into limp mode, and i take off again.
My Yukon goes into limp mode from a throttle position sensor that is flaky. You could check that since you've done so many other things.
@@jonrasmussen2815 I sold it. It was a simple wire ! I bought died cause everywhere I took it, nobody Said it could be a freakn wire, but I told them all that that wire I found with blk tape bout to come off , guess I'm a certified mechanic now,,, ' RITE",,😄
I drive a 2018 Ford Transit 350. I get the P0420 code once in awhile, I put in a bottle of Cataclean with about 3 to 4 gallons of gas, run about 25 to 30 miles then put in highest octane gas I can find and fill up. Code goes away after 2nd or 3rd drive time. It works.😁❤️🇺🇸
Hmmy car is having similar issues but it's very random doesn't happen up hills all the time. I hope it's something easy already checked all the ignition coils and all that stuff. Ughhh. Which wire was it maybe it will be the same one.
Tried this for a Honda Pilot. It worked great for the smog check and about 2k miles. The P0420 came back. I think this is just a temp fix for emissions testing.
Catalytic converters are not supposed to get clogged under normal operating conditions. A fuel additive may help to unclog the converter. But, if you don’t fix the condition that caused it to clog, it will happen again.
Will this work for a 1993 bmw e36 316i that won’t go past 4500 rpm or might be a bigger issue?
I was told to buy this and I just used. My check engine light is still on. I poured it while the gas tank was on the line before it gets empty
hope this works for me I was quoted 3500 for double cat converters.. It did go out before just from using 1 tank of premium gas so I am hopeful.
Thanks for the video ! Just bought me a two pack with your affiliate.
Awesome! Thank you!
When I get a chance I go buy some this stuff & see 👁🗨 works ???
any addictive ie cataclean, Liquid moly etc are not bad for some reasons it’s good, but You need to balance between the Gas and those addictive things, Because they can Contaminate the O2 sensor too, after use you have to clean up the sensor and always use quality of fuel and Driving habits has always been so important
Hey guys good info you spreading.
I got a question of my own.
Exhaust back presure sensor went bad. B class 180 2014.
Ill replace it soon. Is this a indicator that the catalytic converter is not working properly? Or is it just the sensor. The car is on 49.5 mpg for the last 12000 miles. So it's pretty good i guess. Give me a quick thought please.
Cool. Thanks
I don’t have a check engine light on in my car, but my car does jump when accelerating then it’ll be fine after can I still use it?
no sounds like trans or motor fr
My newest acquisition is a 2007 Xterra. It has a lot of stuff needing fixed (i knew some of it, going in) but i didnt expect the CEL to be because of an ailing Bank 1 Catalyst. Now, i am having my local service center do the repairs (Im not a mechanic!) I cant afford the quoted $1600 per cat they quoted me, at least not for awhile. But heres the thing: when i asked them about CATACLEAN, they said, "We've never heard of this product. DON'T USE IT." Well, i dont have a choice; nobody is willing to clean or repair the cat, and im not willing to have it gutted. SO. Cataclean it is. Hopefully it will stabilize the cat until i can replace it!
Did it work? I have an xterra
Did you try it? Did it work?
if the vehicle does not have mobility for whatever reason, instead of driving it for 20 minutes to blow out impurities, can you rev it to 3500 rpm for 20-30 minutes? is there a specific reason to be at quarter tank upon dilution? If it is at half tank, what if someone added 2 bottles instead of one of cataclean? (questions viewers might have for certain situations)
If i live in a state the doesnt have emissions checks can i just ignore my engine light caused by cat?? I mean it drives fine!!!
Got code P0420 2014 Expedition, saw this video and purchased cataclean. Truck was on quarter of tank with check engine light on. I put cataclean in at Autozone parking lot and sat and revved engine for 3 or 4 minutes and the check engine light turned off. Drove for 20 minutes then put 91 shell in it and drove 100 miles. Noticed a slight increase in power and a slight increase in mpg. But no check engine light came back on. Will update later if any significant changes happen.
Anything yet? I know it's been 9 days but just curious
This stuff saved my life. It was like Tom Brady in the Super Bowl.
🤣🤣
I guess not against the giants
I need to know if this works on a 2.1 Audi engine with a test pipe
Curious…How many miles were on the car?
That might work on an engine thats not burning oil, if it is burning oil, the cat will plug up even if you get it clean.
you should have graphed rear O2 voltage before and after - and if 2 banks, plotted both.
Did someone with honda that had p0420 code used this and it worked? Im having issues with it, already replaced both o2 sensors.... dont have the luxury for new cat. Did this worked?
Yes worked on my teggys wrecked cats. I drove with a blown headgaskek for a few months. Swapped my engine still had cat codes... added cataclean and boom no light ever came back.
How often do you recommend to use it?
2-4 times a year
My wife car has a catalytic converters problem and i do used many products to clean it out, it disappears ( engine light with code Po420) for around a week and come back so many times. I almost give up and think about take the cat out to clean it. But before that i see the video talk about use Lacquerthinner GML 170 and i tried it with half tank of gas ( Prius , around 4 gallons gas) i put completely 1 gallon of lacquer thinner in the tank and drive around until almost completely empty gas tank and filled up another tank , the engine light is gone. It happens u til now around a month, i don’t see the engine light come back .
tank to injector line takes time to start Cada cleaner, about 30 miles.
it's been a few months now. Do you still have no codes for the cat?
I have V.W. tiguan that has an engine light on after changing plugs and coils. I bought a bottle of this but I can't clear the light. I unhooked the battery for 15 hours and it's still on. Didn't even mess up the radio presets. Any advice?
You need to get yourself an OBD-II scanner. Even an inexpensive scanner (around $50) should be able to reset the check engine light.
Do you have to erase the code for the check engine light to come off? Or will it go off by itself?
From what I see on several videos and comments here, you'd have to reset the computer by disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery. Another option is to clear the code with a scan tool (autoparts stores let you use them for free). I have not seen anyone say that the code will go away on its own. Good luck!
Whats the update hows it running now.
I had codes indicating air sensor fore and/or aft and CAT itself. Used Cataclean and codes stayed gone for 3-4 months, 6-8,000 miles. Code came on for a day or 2 and disappeared on its own. I have another bottle to use if it comes back on. So, 3-4 bottles a year vs replacing the CAT? Yeah!!!
Legal in California, wow that might work
It worked on my 05 town & country but not my 2015 town & country! 😥
I have a 2010 mitsubishi lancer and had the 02 sensor replaced in June (2023), then the code came up again in september(2023), and the shop replaced it again{Supposedly}, and now the code is up again on the same bank 1 sensor 1. Is it possible, that I have a bad / clogged catalytic convertor?
Yes i absolutely hate emissions systems they don't do jack shit besides mess the car up. I typically try to remove the combs inside of the cat and make sure to get O2 sensors or spacers so you don't get a check engine light.
Did you turn off the Check Engine light yourself or did it go out on its own ?
you have to clear them
ive just used it ill update if works

Would possibly flame up . The molecules of the product , are released through the exhaust and through the cat. safely . But I will have to see if it works. No P420 code . But will see if it helps mileage.

Does Cat clean work on older Hondas?
I tried the same procedure with lacquer thinner on my 2014 Dodge Durango. It didn't work so I'm a bit hesitant to spend more $ on Cataclean.
Probably because lacquer thinner is designed for thining lacquer and not for being run through a cars fuel and exhaust systems.
Whereas cataclean is solely designed and made for just that 🤷♂️

It will not go past 4000 RPMs I just changed one of my oxygen O2 center and it’s still doing the same thing. It’s like I got a lot of hesitation when I give it gas like putters my check engine light flashes so you telling me this stuff will work good.
It's works on a 2021 dodge charger v6
I didn't have any luck with this product. Used it on my wife's van, as per the instructions.. More than once didn't do anything, check engine light is still on.
Same
If there was one video that was helpful to me by Scotty Kilmer, it was about using Lacquer Thinner for the same thing. Cheaper too.
