Wanted to highlight the pros and cons of this truck. The biggest con is that there is no aftermarket support for this truck when it comes to performance modifications. I bought a single cab for the sole reason of making it fast and having fun.
Besides the point, if you are looking for a reliable daily driver. This truck is the one for you! It’s a mustang with a bed and towing capability.
Forgot to mention the mistakes. 🤷🏻♂️
No aftermarket tunes available.
The lights were not available as led.
The 10 speed transmission hunts for a gear if you are on or off the throttle.
There were more but that will get you started.

What products did you use for the color match? I have a black 21 f150 and would like to do the bumpers and door handles

Did you get the high beam work for the headlights?
About to do the ride tech drop kit with helper bags should have no problem towing with some bags
I love the look of these, retro and practical. The headlights are great. Would look even better with the steel wheels. I try to retro fit climate control. Other than that, its great.

You don't really see single cabs anymore except maybe if you work for the county. Looks pretty good though
You are correct, I also have a 1997 f150 single cab, short box and there's more than a handful of those in my neighborhood.......but it seems as though my 2019 f150 single cab, short box, 5.0 is a unicorn...Also I've notice as I always ask when I can, the regular cabs that work in my city are either 2.7TT or the 3.3NA....

Nice video yea I'm thinking about buying one I have a 2012 f250 king ranch I'm either going to trade it or sell it idk I hate dealers always low balling you but I plan on making 1k to the wheel with twins. I would go with a Whipple but for the price I would rather have something I can turn up later. I had a 2015 mustang ran 8s with it on twins 64/67 but sold it because of covid and no work so now I have a 1988 LS swapped fox now I play with this truck would be perfect for me ...
I've heard that the cylinder deactivation makes it SEEM like the transmission is "searching". They started that on the 5.0's in 2021. I have a 2019 short wheelbase f150 with a 5.0, and have not had the shifting issue.
It’s true, I’ve had mine for one week and the shifting is so bad not to mention it skips gears all the time
The cylinder deactivation on the 5.0 is the reason I'm going with the 2.7 instead. The 2.7 is actually the most reliable engine offered in the F150 and it has better power delivery in the lower revs, not to mention way better fuel economy.

Drive in sport mode all the time. Disables all that mumbo jumbo and doesnt skip shift
How much weight do you pull when you pull your race car? I'm movng from an F250 down to a F150 and I'm hoping I don't hate it to much. Nice truck!
I tow roughly 5-6k and it works fine. Trailer will have a little drift because of the shorter wheelbase but it’s fine. I towed with it for 4 thousand miles and I have no complaints
@@aldoshifts8395 Thanks I appreciate it. I'm sure it will do fine. I'm downgrading from a 7500 pound beast and I was a little nervouse about it. I have an enclosed car trailer that is only rated for 7000 pounds. The F150 should do just fine.
Get some helping bags and you can trailer w/e u want

Would you have chosen a 4 wheel drive over 2 wheel drive?
Mannn I’m a city boy so I don’t really need 4 wheel drive. It’s always nice to have and it holds its resell value.
Same issue. Bought a brand new 2021 XLT with every option available. Can’t tune it, and now I can’t get rid of it. Lol
They will have one eventually like every year just wait for it .

They’re tuneable now so most of the negatives in this video are obsolete in 2024

I’ve driven a 2023 Camaro 1LE, Ram 2500, F250s and multiple f150s. Definitely nicest daily commuter was my 2022 F150 Lariat

The only down side of leveling your truck out, is you’ll see a drop in mpg. Ford makes them lower in the front for aero dynamics.
Yup, yesterday I averaged 25mpg on the highway idk if I want to mess that up

They’re fun trucks and get a lot of attention. You can’t go wrong with a blower single cab
If you want to drop it but need to tow, airbags should do the trick. Plan on doing the same when my 22 gets here with the IHC kit.
I’m thinking of ordering the VAS street kit and the IHC helper bag kit. Hoping it rides well
@@aldoshifts8395 have a 22 rcsb 4x4 with the Ihc 3/5 and airbags. rides close to stock.
@@bc5299 did you upgrade the shocks or you stuck with the shocks supplied by IHC?
@@aldoshifts8395 went with the supplied shocks from ihc. also added a 750 sport hard tonneau from leer and a bedrug so there is some weight in the back. keep the bags at around 15 psi for everyday. riding on 20 inch carroll shelby cs44 wheels and 305/50 toyo proxes iii.
Around how much did you spend for the color matching
$700ish for grille, front / rear bumper, door handles and little piece that says XL / XLT

You were able to paint the chrome bumpers? I think you had chrome at least. I was told I couldn't paint chrome by a guy at ford.
I did paint my chrome bumpers. It takes more time to prep to make sure the paint sticks. If you have someone reputable paint it you’ll be fine.

@@somedude4490 I paid $600 for the bumpers, mirrors, grille and door handles
sand blast the bumpers and all is good. body shop pulled the bumpers off and we took them at a local blast it yourself shop. all good.

What if you find a 18-20 computer and swap it in? Wouldnt you be able to tune it now? I think it would work if the ecu came from a f150 that is the exact same as your package wise. But good luck finding one tho in general.
It would work with an aftermarket ECU like Motec or Holley but that’s overkill for someone trying to have a fun daily / street truck
how has your 10 speed treated you?
My 10 speed on my 2019 f150 (32k+ miles) is smooth as silk. Most issues I have heard with transmission are actually cylinder deactivation.....Even the Chevy guyz hate their cylinder deact.

livernois does have tuning now for the 5.0 21 and 22 trucks. oz tuning is also in the process for tuning.
What’s a better gear for racing 3.15s are 3.31s
Depends on the setup.
3.15 is preferred on two wheel drive boosted setups.
3.31 is preferred on NA and 4x4 builds as they need that steeper gear to get out of the hole.

How are the reclining seats? I've been contemplating on upgrading to a supercab because im not sure how comfortable they would be if i want to take a nap or something.
You really can’t recline the seats unless you move the seat all the way forward.

Livernois has had Tunes for the 21 F150 5.0 out for a long while already.
They don’t have full access and they’re not the most respectable tuners. I personally wouldn’t tune my truck with them. PBD or Lund would be my go to
@@aldoshifts8395 since when? Livernois is top notch amd their support is second to none. What do you mean full access? This comment makes no sense. They can disable auto s/s, cyl deact, etc. Tranny tune part of standard tune.
@@todsimpkins8908 air fuel ratio, spark tables, timing charts just to name a few. If they had full access I would have them tune my truck with a custom single turbo but they don’t have full access. I wouldn’t call changing shift points a tune lol.
@@aldoshifts8395 you are not being truthful here. Of course they have air/fuel maps. That is what a tune is. They also have a tune for the whipple. They have hi octane, low octane, e85 tunes. The tranny is included with these. Its not all you get. You are bad mouthing them with zero info. They have tunes for all the ecoboost, since those are stock and plentiful. Do they have 5.0 tunes for every aftermarket turbo? Of course not. No one does.
An easy click to their website lists whats in the 5.0 tune. Fuel maps, air/fuel, timing, tranny shit points, limiters, etx. I mean literally 2 minutes to get to Livernois Motorsports.

I put about 40k miles on my truck in 1 year driving about 150 miles everyday
