    Unbelievably helpful Christine! Not only did you answer my question about hyperlinks, you also visually demonstrated a few other techniques I had been wondering about. I can’t thank you enough. Your videos have been SO incredibly helpful…and inspirational. I just love the way you CLEARLY demonstrate PRACTICAL stuff that almost no one else covers! Your videos totally got me off the fence in terms of deciding to go ahead with the planner ideas I have for my Etsy shop. Again, THANK YOU!

      We created the links in the Master Slides (Edit Slide Layout). That's why when you're out of the master slides and in the main part of the presentation you can't click on those links. However, when you export the entire presentation as a pdf, the links will be there and will work.

    Thank you for this great tutorial!! I am wondering though, do you know if using the master slides has something to do with your smaller file size? I notice that your images are each greater than 1.5 MB which would mean something like 300MB+ total but when you export its sooo small. I have done something similar but loaded each image individually and my file size is still large.

    How would you go about attaching monthly budget sheets to a tab on top?

    • @PlannersbyChristine
      @PlannersbyChristine  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Since there are 12 months, and therefore 12 monthly budgets, what I do is, I create a page called Monthly Budget. I link that page to the tab, and then on the Monthly Budget page I list all the months of the year. Then I create a link from those month names to the actual budget for that month. I typically also create a link to the monthly budgets from the monthly spread for that month, that way you can access the monthly budget from 2 places. Does that make sense?

    Thank you for your AMAZING tutorials! They’re super helpful! 😁 I do have a question: for portrait planners, what do you recommend for the size of the templates that you turn into JPEG before adding to the planner? I’m using a template that isn’t exactly the size of my screen (iPad 9th gen). I have tried exporting the template size as well as my screen size and they both seem to come out blurry 🙃 how would you fix that?

    • @PlannersbyChristine
      @PlannersbyChristine  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm so glad you found it helpful! As far as portrait planners, did you create your template presentation using the dimensions 1620 x 2160? If you imported a Canva image into that presentation, and then exported it, there's no guarantee it won't be blurry because the dimensions of the Canva image were probably too small.
      When you initially create it in Canva, do you go to Create a design and then choose Custom size and then put in 1620 x 2160? If you do that, and then download it, the image should be clear. Please let me know if that makes a difference.

      @@PlannersbyChristine Great, thanks so much! Now do you recommend the actual planner size being 1620 x 2160 as well? The planner builder template i mentioned is in 1668 x 2095, so slightly smaller than my screen size

    • @PlannersbyChristine
      @PlannersbyChristine  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know if you watched my entire tutorial, but for the actual planner I recommend you use 4:3 (or 3:4 for portrait). This will allow the highlighter pen to work properly. Otherwise when you use it, the widest highlighter won't be very wide.

    Christine, thank you for this tutorial! This has allowed me to make a planner to suit my needs which is something I’ve had a problem finding. Thank you for teaching it step by step!
    I have a question though. With a new year approaching, could you do a video showing how to ‘duplicate’ this for a new year without having to recreate all the pages and especially all the links? I would love to be able to ‘copy and paste’ a new year planner without the initial work. Is there a way to do this?

    • @PlannersbyChristine
      @PlannersbyChristine  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you've found it helpful! I have it on my list of videos to create to show how to do this, but basically I would go into each monthly spread and drag the squares with the links to the proper place in the new calendar. That way you don't lose the link you've already created. You'd need to go through all the daily pages and change or remove the wrong year though (assuming you put it there in the first place.)

  • @PaperCraftyGal
    @PaperCraftyGal ปีที่แล้ว

    So if I’ve started a DP already and create this flatten method, do I now delete the daily, weekly etc pages from my original one I’ve already created?

    • @PlannersbyChristine
      @PlannersbyChristine  ปีที่แล้ว

      Without seeing exactly what you did, it's difficult for me to tell you what to do, but if you used master slides for your daily and weekly pages, etc, you could import your flattened images into your master slides. Then delete the original masters. When you delete them, Keynote will ask you which slide to use instead to replace the slide you're deleting. Choose the flattened master slide you brought in.
      Now, before doing this, you should make a copy of your Keynote file and make changes on that. That way, if anything goes wrong, you'll still have an unchanged file.

      I haven't tried making a planner in Canva, but I would think it would work the same. The difference is, instead of importing the images from the template presentation, you would import the ones you made in Canva. • @PlannersbyChristine
      @PlannersbyChristine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to, but anything you want to link, you just have to have something to link it to. In other words, you would link to text field that has 30 in it. If the 30 is from a master slide and there's nothing to link to on your main slide, then you would put a square over the 30 and choose "No fill" which makes the square invisible. You would link to that. Does that make sense? If not, maybe you can tell me more about what you mean.

    • @cjoankuromi

      I think I know what you're talking about. On the weekly spread I put a 30 above all the days of the week. That was a placeholder for the dates. So, you would put the actual date of that day of the week. You don't have to do that though. You could leave those boxes blank and write in the actual date when you're doing your planning that week. Does that make sense?

    I’m having a bit of trouble. Your video is so thorough and well made, I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I create my background under the higher custom iPad resolution/size as you did, 2360x1640 for my iPad Air and export as image to files. Then when I try to import it under 4:3 and zoom in it’s still blurry, though I know you said to select 4:3 so it is not blurry. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?
    I should add, I’m flipping the numbers (1640 for width, and 2360 for height) because I want portrait, so I’m selecting 3:4 but I figured it would work out to be the same. Not sure though! lol

      Hmm. Not sure why it's coming out blurry. One thing to check is, when you choose to Export > PDF, scroll down and make sure Best is selected for Image Quality.

    Thanks for another excellent tutorial, Christine 👍🏻
    I frequently recommend your channel on Facebook ☺️
    I started a planner last year but I’ve been poorly for a few months so haven’t finished it.
    But I will definitely follow your instructions to save the slides as JPEGs so my planner will be more streamlined when I finally finish it 😄
    Before Keynote was updated last year, I designed one in Vectornator and imported the pages into Keynote as PNGs. It was HUGE 😱 I couldn’t compress it enough 😟
    Keynote on iPad has just a couple of downsides but overall I love it and hope that maybe Apple will continue to improve it.

      First off, thank you for recommending my channel to people! I'm sorry you've been feeling unwell. I hope you feel better soon!
      I like Keynote, but prefer to use it on my laptop vs my iPad. Apple has definitely made some improvements over the last year, so hopefully they'll continue to add features that are on the laptop version that are missing on the iPad.

    How to make digital planner editable after exporting as a pdf file??

    • @PlannersbyChristine
      @PlannersbyChristine  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can write in your planner as a pdf in a program like GoodNotes. As far as editing the planner itself, once it's a pdf, you can't edit it, like changing links and such. What did you have in mind?

    Hello! Very informative video. I will be creating more planners to add to my collection. I’m on the final step and ready to sell. I did a test to my emails by sending it both PDF and as GoodNotes, but the links didn’t work to go to different months. How can I get those hyperlinks working for when I sell it to someone? They work for me in GoodNotes once I imported it of course, but again I created it. Hope this question makes sense.
    Update: I guess I was exhausted from working on the planner for a few days getting it perfect, I reopened the email I sent as a test to & it did work, haha, thank you again.

    • @PlannersbyChristine
      @PlannersbyChristine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it worked for you in GoodNotes, it should work for everyone. When the links didn't work, were you in an app or just opening the pdf? Not that it should matter. Even just opening the pdf on a computer, when you click on the month tab, if the links were set up correctly, they should work.
      When you say you sent as an email as GoodNotes, what do you mean? It has to be in pdf format for the links to work.

      @@PlannersbyChristine So, I was giving it a test and I exported as a PDF and saved it in my files. When I opened it as a pdf, it opens fine, but the links didn’t work. It works in GoodNotes for me once I imported it there, so idk what happened

      I'm not sure why it works in Goodnotes but not just as a pdf. Maybe whatever program your computer uses for pdfs is the issue.

    So I created a cover in my master slides but when I click done editing in the master slides my page template doesn't show up. Do I need to apply the cover in the master slide edit? do I apply the cover once I upload the finished blank template to the final planner template? I am a bit confused when it comes to uploading the cover

      Do you mean it's not showing up when you press the plus sign back on the main presentation screen so that you can't add it?

      If you updated to iOS16, then Keynote has changed. To access the Document Size screen, click on the drop-down arrow in the top left corner next to the presentation name, choose Presentation Options, Presentation Setup, then go to the bottom to access Slide Size. I hope this helps!

    Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it very much, several times, but I'm still trying to get it to settle in my brain. I have a little basic phone planner I bought years ago and I all want to do is change the text on the month tabs and 6 tabs on the top. I'm hoping that I can find a method that will click in my brain of how to do it. I'm not adverse to recreating the planner, it only has 20 pages.

    • @PlannersbyChristine
      @PlannersbyChristine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way to do it on an existing planner is to create something like a sticker and paste it over the text on every page of the planner.

    Thank you for this tutorial. Learning how to use the X and Y axis to move planner boxes over a bit at a time was very helpful. Also, I ‘m able to create monthly, weekly, and daily spreads quickly and easily. In the past, getting correct placement on these spreads was a challenge.
