Not distasteful at all. I'm an avid airgun hunter and what you did for that hog was very human and necessary. Had your dog not found it. No telling how long it would have suffered before dying from its injuries. You did it a service. Thank you.
I don't think people outside mericas like myself, understand the hog problem you guys is having over there and have had for some time if I remember correctly.
It is a shame because I think this problem has to do with the carelessness of the factory farm system, and also idiots that get pet pigs then realize they are more work than they thought and just let them go. Not to mention all the toxic waste that factory farms produce that end up in ground water etc.. I feel for the hog, but it is either you or him, and it probably did end its suffering.
You made the right choice. It's hard but you did it.

I'm a 68 yr old teenager and I built a rescued $22 Schwinn beach cruiser a couple of months ago just for fun and it's really fun! Had a little problem the other day riding the neighborhood, engine started to race then just cut out completely. Long story short, after checking everything electrical to no avail, I took apart the carb and the brass stem that holds the jet had vibrated out and was laying loose in the float bowl ! Put it all back together and it nows purrs like a kitty ! Much better than before, always had shaky low RPM's, must have been loose all along ! I never thought I'd find that ! Something to consider for those having similar trouble ! Keep up the great effort, you'll have 50,000 followers soon !

I do this same thing on the back roads of Montana. I also started running a bigger sprocket to get up the mountains better. I have seen bears, even grizzly bears, and always carry bear spray. I have done 40 mile rides through the mountains, some of the most wild country in Montana, and one 100 mile ride around a resevoir. Next summer I plan to youtube some of my rides.

The part about the load trails put on your motor and running it rich is one of the reasons I find your channel more interesting than the many who aim for maximum road speed, because I'm in a similar position but for different reasons. Whilst I prefer to pedal a century old roadster on trails (you talk about underestimating what a bike can do, people forget most roads weren't paved when those were made), I do have to tweak the motorized bike similarly to you because whilst that one is only used on the streets, it gets used to pull trailers around (can't afford a car), leaving it rich is the only way to stop it melting.
That knocking noise is peculiar indeed, here's hoping you get to the bottom of it. If you can't make it go away, try a stock air filter, this seemed to shut the noise up slightly on my YD100 at least when nothing else seemed to work. It probably is worth noting that elevation here is low though (mostly below sea level), so the air is oxygen rich and causes things to run a little hotter, exacerbating such problems, it may well just be the plug as you say in your case.
On knowing when to give the motor a rest, you probably find the same as I do, that when you've got a feel for your engine, you can stop looking at the clock and feel when it's time to shut it off for a while, there's like a brief moment where it gets a tiny bit more power before feeling 'mushy' and sluggish if you keep pushing it, the exhaust takes on a different odor too.
You did the right thing with the hog, it wasn't going to come back from that condition and could have been limping around out there for days otherwise, plus you had to defend yourself as, injured or not, there's no telling what could have happened to you or your dog if you didn't dispatch it. The world's a brutal place, sometimes you simply have to act without hesitation.
Try adding a little castor oil in ur mix. Good for high temperature. We use in RC planes. Seen some 2-stroke oil for go-karts have a bit castor in it

Came to this channel to learn and this video made me hooked on the suspense!
That was a pretty good ride vid,and allot of good tips.I use grease in my bucking bar,the ball bearing too.I didn't pay attention to the hours I'd ridden one week,and got ready for a distance run.I pulled the bar out using a magnet so the ball always comes out too.I had a sliver of a disc and no ball come out.It was lucky I'd ordered a kit for a spare.Now every 4 tanks of fuel it all gets checked,instead of monthly.
Love the tips definitely you right we sometimes forget that those motor requires a check tune up on everything even your bike at tim s I try to educate people on my town about the 80cc/66cc motor with good maintenance it can last for up 2 3/5 years. Bike life God bless you la hover and the fams 🤘💯💪

I appreciate your videos. I've been watching for a few months now and I enjoy them. I ride in a small town. Usually at around 2-4 a.m in the morning. I'm grateful that the officer that is on duty likes the motorized bikes. Anyway thank you very much for your videos.

Great videos I’m currently building a 2-stroke powered tricycle for my self’ these engines are so good my grand father’s making me build a 4-stroke tricycle to ride with me Man it is a real challenge getting these things to mount on their frames
Luck of the draw when choosing the frame unless your able to measure everything out ahead of time. Its always great when everything just happens to fit perfectly.

cool video. I got the 56t sprocket for my bike too. It's a modified BMX bike frame that I want to use for stunting around like one would on a BMX bike :)

loving the vids man, if you ever end up wanting to build a street speeder style bike i got a ported cyliner that loves rpms and pulls hard in the higher rpms. ill be willing to send it to ya to test out but you'll have to pick up a reed valve because this cylinder has a third transfer port

Yo dude, I know exactly what you mean when talk about shifting your weight, I recently got into motorized bikes & I plan to save up for a $200 fairly reviewed product. Wish me luck guys. I'll try to keep y'all updated, my last bike recently got stolen & managed to get a $1000 bike for $200 bc I have my contracts, but it's a track bike mainly for marathons. I'm hoping with the combined lightweight frame & easy handling it's going a fun fast & cheap way to get around the area & work. :)

great video. sometimes i just wanna hear engine noise and this provides that. also great handling and editing on the hog situation, its interesting and something to learn from.
Something very important. Always wear a backpack with all the necessary tools to fix your bike. Carry a spare CDI and spark plug (a common issue with motor bikes). Put a chain breaker, hammer, appropriate wrenches, screwdriver, pliers and zip ties in your bag. Also, put a spare tire tube and tire changing tools in your backpack. If you do this, you're going to be very grateful when you finally break down or get a flat tire. Happy riding!

The knocking sounds like pre detonation. Try some 91 octane if that doesn’t work. Try slapping a second base gasket on to lower the compression a little. Less compression helps longevity too.

Great video. That was the best you could do with a bore that was hurt & charging. Luck the dog didn't get hurt. Once a couple of my pitts had a rattler cornord. They were barking up a storm so I went over to see what was up. Some how they knew not to get bit. I was surprised that my male pitt didn't grab it. HE'S KILLED 3 SKUNKS BEFORE What a mess that is. He fears very little. I ended up killing the rattler. It was on the side of my house. Anyway your video reminded me of the rattler time. I've been playing with 4 stroke Briggs engines on the bikes. I been taking off the cooling shrouding around the engine just leaving on the main one with the pull starter to see if it will run with out it. So far so good. Mind you I live in the desert of So. Cal. I've been thinking about making a run from my place to Las Vegas. Old route 66 in the summer. I do have people to come get me if need be. I would have to come up with carrying a non fire arm. The law really looks down on that sorta thing plus going from one state to another.Going to have to plan it out well. Your video opened my eyes a bit more is what I'm getting too. Your very informative. Thanks.
I love a good old Brigs & Strat. Only reason I still enjoy cutting the grass. Those little motors are solid for life! If you make the trip with your build be sure to film the highlights if you can. I'd love to see it!

I live right next to a ton of trails and i ride to school on one sometimes (wearing and extra disposible layer so i can still hit jumps and mud holes) my bike is one with a smaller sprocket made for street speed but it still tears mud up and i enjoy hitting the trails as hard as it will let me

Damn the one who hurt the wild animal, probably you where there for a reason, poor guy would've been through so much agony due to his crushed behind and it might took him several days, stupid people might think animals are stupid but in reality they are not, i hope that it was not done on purpose, but the little warrior kept fighting tell last breath.
Amen.. He did the right thing. Wild animals are amazing, the things they can persevere through would make the average ATV riding teenager crap their pants until dead of dehydration. I'm a hunter, and taking the life of a majestic wild beast is never a joyful experience except in the sense of filling the freezer with the best, most healthy meat available.
And either way it was a wild hog. They all need to die, they're invasive and cause millions of damage or more every year. You can't really go to any woods in the south without finding hog tracks through the whole thing. Especially in Texas and Florida.

I fit my motor to a 24". I had to modify the frame quite a bit but it's great.

Make sure you greese you clutch gears and after break in pop end cap off exhaust and cut the silencer for more power and use blue lock tight on bolts

I can't wait until I can afford to get a 100 cc. I was riding yesterday and had a guy yelling at me. Normally I wouldn't stop. But I did. He started telling me how I am supposed to have a license and that my motorized bike was a motor vehicle. I politely told him that no I don't need a license and insurance and that it's a motorized bike. And that before he started harassing people to read the law's. He asked if I had read them. And I told him that yes I have. Then I just left him alone. Even though he was not happy with my reply. I'm glad that most people in my town think that they are cool. I wish I had more trails.

Does any of your videos address what to do with those gear shifters on mountain bikes that are on the inner parts of the grips? I've got a mountain bike that I'd like to use but It's got those shifters on both grips...
my bike had a really small frame so i just cut a chunk out of it big enough for the motor. i purchased a better carb for it but i dont thnk it will be able to fit because the frame is so small

Kool stop brand makes some ebike pads supposed to be for higher speed never tried them just seen them also lots of trials pads to lock your wheel up super easy be careful

And edit: don't use WD40 on your chain. Its not a lubericant its a cleaner disguised as a lubericant. A small gob of red grease or regular gear grease on the sprocket or the chain works very well, granted your chain won't look pretty but your chains/gears are less likely to wear out.
edit2: yup, That be a bore good sir. They're always vicious its ususally best to steer clear. Unless you can't then. Thats pretty much what you gotta do. Just glad little lassy didn't get a tusk in her neck.

I am a aircraft mechanic. We are taught that all reciprocating engines need to run a small amount rich for cooling.
we have a trail that goes like 40 miles some day im gonna bring a bunch of gas an extra chain and a few tools in case she breaks down and beat that trail. Last time i tried on a manuel bike i only made 25 miles and almost had a heat stroke

@LAHover have you ever ran the opti 2 oil? Heard alot of mixed reviews on if its good to run in these lil motors or not, especially when it comes to their famous 100:1 ratio
I don't think I have, I mostly just grab what ever for my bikes... but If I were to build a high quality bike/motor combo, I would look for a good quality oil for sure.
and- that's why you carry a gun. especially when out in the woods. an unarmed fellow would have probably hidden in a tree till the hog left. and never seen his dog again. also lately I've been thinking about doing one of those yd100 kits on a full suspension bike frame, with a jackshaft built in so that the motor drives a sprocket on the swingarm pivot, which drives another sprocket on the same shaft which drives the rear wheel to remove the variable of the chain binding up if the swingarm swings. never seen it done before, so I'd have to build it myself.
Hey buddy, my name is Eric and I live in Springfield, Oregon, so I bought a phantom 85, now I have had nothing but problems with it for as much as I paid for it you would never think it would happen so I know your very experienced in breakdown and rebuild , so I f-ed up the head /cylinder, and I am going to order a new one but to get it cheaper I'm ordering it from eBay and I'm ordering a ms 046 460 change saw cylinder, or what would you recommend
Forgive me if I missed it in the vid... what is your general location? Those forests are beautiful! Here in Missouri, the underbrush is thriving with thorn bushes, thorned vines, HUGE weeds some of which also have spikes, spider webs upon spider webs, and lots of other brush which makes all unkept trails impossible to travel through.

I'm in Louisiana, and right now everything is exactly as you described Missouri lol. This ride was done in March, just before the under growth got out of hand. Right now I can't do much trail riding because of it, and the heat. Late Fall, Winter, and early Spring are the best times for me.

Hey brother got a question for you I have a 15 speed dolomite fat tire bike I would love to put an engine on and tear up some trails any ideas I bought one of these Chinese bike motors but it don’t fit I’m half tempted to cut the frame and put in a predator To 12 but I really don’t want to go through all that hassle Any ideas
Nice Glock and got the tritium sights too. What caliber is that one? Been thinking about the 10mm, be perfect for hogs.
Glock 20 (10mm) I love it! I'm using the Alpha Wolf barrel because I like to shoot reloads. The stock barrel is hell on your brass.
LA Hover smart man! I have a 1911 Rock Island chambered in 10mm, I really like the round.
Those are some rough trails, it seems to handle it pretty good tho and so do you, that's gotta be rough on your back

That woods is beautiful, what state are you in? I’m in northern Illinois about 50 minutes north west of Chicago and there aren’t many trails here. The Des Plains River Trail runs from the Illinois and Wisconsin border to Chicago and keeps going south but they don’t allow motorized vehicles and the few times I rode my gas bike on it there were tons of people on bikes and I wasn’t really able to go that fast.
I'm down here in Louisiana. Lots of back roads to explore.

had it for 2 years now and im still riding every day just needs a new exhaust gasket that's not as cheap as the stock one and after market clutch arm warped so i re-used the stock one, clutch arm cover only has one screw and a skinny bolt to hold it on cause it broke in two spots

Wd 40 is crap for chains. CRC white lithum spay, or Lucas red and tacky spray work great for chain. The penatrate when thin liquid out of the can, then the liquid evaporates in a couple min. leaving behind a nice thick layer of thick grease. Wd40 is thin, not much lubercation qualitys, and flys right off. When I worked for 20 years in a bicycle shop we used the CRC and LPS 3 also a good chain and cable lube.

It's been about 3 weeks since I built mine with a Kent seachange.... the only problems I've had so far is blowing out the hub bearings on the rear tire because these tires / Wheels even the bike itself was not designed to go at these speeds my recommendation anybody building these things is actually spend the extra $50 to $100 on Performance Wheels
Hey have you tried the cnc hub attachment it save your bearings also running a rear tire up front helps keep the rims alive for the cheaper side of things due to the larger hubs hope this helps
Where do you live at? The forest biome is super cool. Looks like not a lot of brush and junk to stop you from trouncing around like there is here
Louisiana, the was a national forest that is kept relatively clear out for hunting.
You wanna put oversized tyres (fat tyres) on they make the ride so much smoother and a lot better at corners and you do get a few more benefits from doin so
I agree :)but sadly the chain clearance is so tight between the tire and frame that I can't. Maybe a fat tire bike with and off set motor mount.

if you know what your doing with porting a 36 tooth sprocket has tons of low end

Good luck man, I hope you enjoy the hobby :) We peddle than pop the clutch and they fire right up. You can also get a pull start, but everyone I have seen try to use the pull starts say they are junk.
LA Hover oh alright thanks for that information sir, just one more question if you don't mind should I grease everything in the new motor and put a little bit of oil in the piston shaft before I fire it up as well?
@@johntaylorpelletier9349 You will want to grease the two gears under the clutch cover (don't get any grease on the clutch pads). You will also want to grease the bucking bar, bucking bar bearing, and the clutch cam.
For your first start make sure the choke is on, than run the bike with half choke for about 30 seconds to help oil the fresh motor. A few drops of oil in the head is something I like to do, but I don't think anyone else does it.
