    Take your old head gasket and trace it on a flattened piece of metal from a soda or beer can, then cut it out. You can use a razor blade and follow the old gasket and then clean it up with a file.
    You get a free head gasket and more power from it because of it being thinner than the original, it gives it more compression.
    It won't hurt the engine, have one on mine for over a couple hundred miles.

      Could you still run a tuned pipe and high comp head? That thin metal you'd think would blow after such power

    How far can you travel with that motor without having it to break or over heat? La Hover

      @LAHover  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm not sure how far it CAN go without taking a break, but I can tell you how far I HAVE gone without taking a break. A little over 10 miles of trail riding without a break. Remember, that is THIS bike, and how I ride. Others may differ...

    same for my bike chain. my brothers e bike got in a crash where the back wheel bolt SNAPPED and the wheel fell off. When repairing it, the derailleur was making me consider tying myself to train tracks and letting myself slowly die. I grabbed a hammer and smashed it off the bike, which actually worked surprisingly well. the piece that connects it to the frame i believe is designed to break in a crash, which protects the bike frame and it indeed broke quite easily. I am pretty good with breaking and reconnecting chains, weird thing to be skilled at but, y'know, never hurts. I cut the chain to 4th gear but for the life of me couldn't put it on it. i am very new to bike maintenance and stuff, so i just put it on second gear and said to myself "ill fix the chain tension later". because at that point i just wanted to ride the electric bike for a bit (first e bike i would ever ride). when I was riding I felt the chain clunk and stuff and I thought "wow the chain is breaking or something because I didn't do it right" and since I was using pedal assist 5 I couldn't notice it shifted into the right gear. I only noticed once I went to work on the chain and saw that it was already up there. I'm not sure how common knowledge this is, like I said, very new to this. but its very helpful to just keep it in the lowest gear and backwards-pedal(assuming no coaster breaks) and after some time it shifts to the right gear. removing the derailleur was 100% worth it for that bike but then I later found out the rim was.... sharp? it kept cutting the tubes I put in the tire and I was going to fix it, but then I just decided "hey, I'm not really a fan of this bikes speed anyway, but I really liked working on it" so that's when I decided to get one of these kits. I'm going to get it in a few weeks after doing research and deciding what other stuff I need to get for it, wish me luck.

    looks like a kick-ass time...you should put you an expansion chamber pipe on there, it will give you quite a boost in low end torque even with the stock head... I have the cdh66 pipe which came with my engine kit and tried it with a stock head for the break in period and it was a lot more powerful in low end than the stock exhaust, a very noticeable difference

    i just got those fenders in the mail. cant wait! also just ordered my first long stroke motor, the 40mm one. i didnt order your kit on amazon because i was scared of the ball bearing in the studs issue, so i ordered one on ebay that looked equally as good, for only 107.99. i checked and it has exactly everything the amazon one has, just hopefully not ball bearings in the cylinder studs lol. the crank case gasket blew on my short stroke ebay kit after about 500 miles so i can no longer ride it, the rpms just build for ever until the bike explodes which im not willing to do. it will require an entire rebuild. also after 500 miles with the air filter, it sounds like the needle bearings are bad because the motor made a bearing Nosie while running and got worse the higher rpm . over all super excited for the new engine. i also got a 36 tooth sprocket for free from a buddy but i dont think ill use it since i usually ride in the city. he also gave me his carb from his yd100 he got on amazon for 180$. is that a real nt speed or anything good? or is it just junk? also try upgrading to disk brakes. i have 2 rear wheels so i think im going to get a hub adapter for a disk brake conversion with the threads from one of the rear wheels from where the casset lived and have front disk brakes.

    8:22 Spray some parts cleaner inside the grips. It will slide in very easily and dry almost instantly. No hammer needed. Same goes when removing them. Pry them a little with a small screwdriver or something and spray it as far in as you can using that small tube. It will slide right out, zero effort.

    Just now subscribed. I’m building a bike out of one of those bbr gas tank frames. It seems like it is going to be quite a bit more heavy duty than my first bike that I built out of a huffy parkside. I would absolutely love to see you make a series (if the budget permits) about building one of those gas tank frame bikes, and maybe even some performance upgrades if you felt up to it. I feel like I would get a few ideas to steal from you. Either way, I love the vibe of your videos, and I hope you continue to make good content

Everything works great except the idle it just will not idle. I haven't checked the Reed's yet. and I heard you talking about maybe it might need some flexible guides to help them close tight/faster. @@andrewjb05051998 iv change the needle postion to leanest at about 20 miles,
      i was 4 stroking heavily before doing this.

    • @andrewjb05051998
      @andrewjb05051998 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check your plug,If your plug is black, not brown your running still too rich. I would buy a set of jets and go down a #.
      It helps to have a good expansion chamber, the stock muffler without the cap/ baffles is good and all, but you'll be 4 stroking on your top end because there's no pressure wave sending back your gases into the chamber and you'll lean out.
      My recommendation is that:
      1. Check all of your seals, make sure you have a good compression. If you have a leak while tuning, it'll give you all kinds of problems.
      2. make sure you have good spark, I know you changed it but your coil could be weak, put the plug on top of the head and run the engine over, look to see if there's consistent spark. Make sure your connections are on good and not corroded.
      3. Clean your carb just in case, while your at it clean your air filter, oil can clog it. Drill some holes in the cover if you can, to let it breathe a bit better
      4. Since your broken in, make sure your running at least 30:1 ratio, too rich of oil can cause problems too.
      5. Go down a # on your jet, keep going down a notch, one at a time, if you bottom out, go down another jet and repeat untill you get it where you like it.
      If your into trying to get as much power as you can, trim all of your gaskets flush: transfer ports gasket, intake gasket, exhaust gasket. Take nail polish and put it on the metal mating surface, dry fit your piece, then take it back off, the nail polish will give you a template of where to cut. Port and polish if you can/comfortable doing its, plenty of vids on that.

      @@andrewjb05051998 awsome with this what iv read and been told by a few other great people iv found i was running rich and plan to order some different jetters to test out but i think the problem lay in some out of date cheap supermarket oil i picked up. so i plan on cleaning the carb, getting rid of all the carbon build up, fresh higher octane petrol, brand named oil and now a high output coil try this and then move on to gasket seals.

    You know I find it amusing when people ask me how fast does my motorized bike go. Truth be told my 100cc china doll motor with a 40t sprocket varies from day to day. One day it will peak out at 35 mph the next might only be 25 mph. I live in northwestern ohio about 5 minutes from Michigan. I use my bike as a daily commuter and have had no major issues with it. I have a 700c Raleigh Detour hybrid and it only gets rode on pavement. When I bought the motor i was looking for torque and not speed. I just want to say something to those who always ask how fast does it go? Keep in mind that the majority of the bikes we throw these engines on are not built with the intention of a motor being strapped to them. Even the CDHPOWER gas frame bicycle i recently bought has a warning not to exceed 35kmh/22mph. So going faster than that isn't very practical or safe. So to all you that want to know how fast it goes can build your own and find out for yourself.
