The beauty of these bikes is that you can carry or push your way through anything, can't do any of that with an ATV or dirt bike when push comes to shove, great video dude.
A proper dirt bike - hell, an old on/off road bike like the TS125 or xl125 is so much more capable that the places it would get stuck you'd never have to worry about pushing his bike through because you'd never get there to be stuck. You could ride it t the trailhead, get to the trees - turn around to get a chainsaw, come back and clear the trail, and ride to the end and take a nap while waiting for the YD to show up. I'm not saying its not worth building and riding - just that it has to be done for fun = because you like wrenching and screwing around. It's never going to be better than the vehicles it long ago evolved into.
I’m breaking my 50cc in currently, or at least trying to lol. I have a 1:20 oil to gas ratio. This thing is so fun and I got one because my friend had one. I’m not at all near being mechanically inclined but I put it together with ease, and am having fun learning about the motor. Do you guys have any suggestions about a good carb to put on it I’m going to get and expansion chamber as well

Really appreciate the production quality you put into this and how detailed you are on sharing. Cant wait to go back and watch your backlog of videos, even though itll keep me from working on the bikes! Keep it up

I had a hell of a time trying to get a good tune on the stock NT type slide carbs. I ended up drilling and threading a pulse port and installing a diaphragm type carb (Walbro clone, I think). Not only did it make my motor run better through the range, but it gained a fair amount of power as well. Ditching the stock pipe and installing a modified pocket bike pipe helped quite a bit too (has a slight expansion and a very breathable muffler)
Glad i saw your post , i keep thinking same thing , do you remember walbro # or which saw it was on ? I would like to use the walbro hd12b as used on the husqvarna 372xp , 71cc chainsaw . Also how did you couple the carb to motor and where did you drill pulse port ? Wish i could see pictures ! The beauty of this carb is the metering screws for low and hi speed rpm's that precisely tunes fuel an air mix and easily adjusted for days of hi humidity or low humidity as humidity conditions change the tune , as well as temp . Also the diaphram carbs very sensitive to motor heat and on the saws have rubber or plastic intake manifolds . So glad to hear this !
@@sundial6919 Sorry for the late reply. I'm using a Husqvarna 372XP carb mounted on an OZ reed valve (vertical threaded holes on the intake plate have a 31mm spread, which matches the carb perfectly. This mounts the carb right up to the intake tube). I just drilled a 1/8" hole into the crankcase, and pressed a small section of 1/8" OD aluminum tubing as a hose barb. There was some minor fabrication involved in getting a cable throttle connected, but it's been a great setup so far - especially once I converted the bottom end to case reed!
Maaaann this is torture lol my bike blew up yesterday and now I got recommended this. The piston's wristpin snapped a piece off and sent a piece of metal into the cylinder. Needless to say the whole top end is toast lol. I need to take apart the rest of the engine to see if the crankcase and bearing are still usable and if it is I'll be repairing the whole thing and hopefully get back to zooming around my neighborhood. I out brake lights, blinkers, a horn, a low idle switch, and a bbq igniter for FLAMES BABY and just when everything was working perfectly, the bike gave up haha.
@@dab-pre-ss-ionaustin1986 You don't know jack about what I did I take it? It blew up from a circlip failure. I just got done rebuilding the engine a few minutes ago and I'm heading to the hardware store to buy hardware to mount it back on the bike. I'm buying the G style clip circlips but have the 2 pronged ones in right now. They are very sketchy. Buy G clip and you're fine.

I use a 100cc 2 stroke on a bicycle daily and go to work with it . I have for almost 2 years and over 20.000 km. Still running great only problem is the clutch that starts to slip every 3000 km but it is an easy job.
Watching everything you went through to keep that thing running convinced me. My 40cc Tanaka on an old GEBE belt drive easily get 150 mpg with a lot fewer hassles. Still does 30+ though I seldom go that fast.
Ok thanks for the info don’t let it idle much at all I went to 32:1 ratio and seems to run better I have bone stock everything but I’m trying to get a better compression head and cylinder walls
Great info. I'm having the same sort of issues with my rear tire setup. The massive Kenda rear tire that I'm running comes close to BOTH chains, and the rear bearings/axle setup. My front crank needed tightening and so did my triple tree as it backed off considerably. But on the plus side I've got my GPS & custom ebay stereo ready for install and test run!
Trust me I’ve run Walmart full synthetic 50:1 down an old dirt road that was tore up next to the bayou with no air filter for 200 miles you can run less oil it will survive and it was in the Louisiana summer
They are frigin tough forsure! However its doesnt hurt to use a fair amount though,I Like it when it smokes going down the road.Ive put well over a 1000 k on my 80cc using a good bit of oil. @@natesmith8713 oh yea now on my ported motor that’s piped, bored out carb I keep it wide open 24/7 like seriously I run it 20:1 or 24:1 because it’s getting strung out so much and I want this cylinder and piston to last if not I am working on a ktm 85 c piston in a china doll that will be my backup/test motor
Good ride be carful watch out for snakes, check for snakes and makes sure your bearings are not to loose or to tight, which can cause the bearings to cut deep inside the axle or clean through it because it happen to me two time and I have to buy another axle and do all the spokes.
It's the solid head mixed with being high compression. I have seen lots of the one piece heads pop spark plugs out. Run them glowing red hot, and foul them out due to excessive heating. If you are going to run a 100cc kit it's best to get a cylinder with a separate head.
I like that it’s fairly quiet once the motor gets warmed up. You Mentioned some start up issues from time to time. Have you ever thought about adding a pull start as an optional way to start the engine? Didn’t hear a lot of gear noises. As far as noise itself goes I’ve heard about putting cardboard inside the gearbox. Maybe you might look into putting some sort of splash guards in front. If they can be made out of a sound deadening it might help make the bike More stealthy. Is there anything you can wrap around the downpipe to help reduce noise and vibrations? Regular car engines have Rubberized motor mounts. Would putting something like a piece of inter tube under the motor mounts do the same? Maybe if you wrap the entire down tube in rubber might reduce noise and vibrations even further.

Hey! My daughter just got married and is living just outside of Lufkin. We're going to be going there soon to see them and we have a couple of motorized bikes to bring along. My wife wants to take a trip to where she lived in Boothville while we're there.
Try following the formula that's been around since the 70s make your lead in pipe to the expansion chamber 8 to 11 times in length the diameter of your exhaust port meaning that your expansion chamber should for sure be less than 10inches from your motor look up the two strokers bible if you wish but following this formula will give you incredible gains in low and mid power cooler running and better fuel mileage!
My bike should be just about the same speed as others with a YD100 and a 26" frame (30~mph). Here are three things that make it look faster. The gopro is recording in super view (extra wide angle lens), the camera is mounted to my chest (lower cameras look faster), and the angle is slightly down (seeing more moving ground and less sky). ;)
Consider switching to a disc brake rear wheel using the brake disc holes to mount your sprocket to this eliminates all the spoke torsion from the thru spoke mounting system the results your wheel stays straight and your sprocket runs true!
It's GlockOclock baby! 20 pass the hours to be exact. I buy what I like, and what I like is 180 grains of custom 10mm being pushed out of 4.6" Lone Wolf Barrel ;)
Best thing about nowadays is cameras for sure. When I was a kid I remember getting messed with by people like that all the time. There were abandoned railroad tracks near my house that people drove dirt bikes on. They took the tracks out 15-20 years before I started riding there. People would call the cops all the time which was super annoying because we weren’t bothering anyone but the “Karen’s” had nothing better to do. One of the last times that I actually stopped for a cop I said dude were not bothering anyone people should be happy we’re not causing trouble like all the other young kids out stealing stuff from stores, doing drugs and what not we’re just putting around on our dirt bikes. This cop was actually cool and said do me a favor try to stay away from the areas of the tracks where people’s houses are. Another time a lady said we were driving in her backyard for hours and when we told the cop we didn’t even go on her property and he only passed by 2 times quickly he didn’t believe us and said he’s gonna take our bikes . I said you ain’t taking shit why would we stay here when there are the sand pits with tons of cool trails just a mile up the road? Isaid let’s go in her backyard to see tire tracks because if we were back there for hours there will be tracks well the cop got aggravated said I’ll let u go this time but next time I’m taking the bikes so we never once stopped again.
My YD 100. Didn't make it 100 miles. The little pin that is supposed to keep the piston ring from moving came out of it's hole and scored up the piston and cylinder. The bike just quit as I went down the road. Just got my new jug and piston to replace it.
Actually it was one of the round clips that hold the piston against the connecting rod. Don't reuse those clips. I took them out to turn the piston around.
The pins are called gudgeon pins since bike's were invented and the clips are called circlips inner,, . To use the correct grammar is better than making up names like thingy and sounding incompetent, move up
I took my 4 stroke 49cc 2-3hp gas bike on a 120 mile ride from mesa Arizona to pepersauce cave in mount lemon. It was crazy. I was towing a trailer with about 90lbs of camping gear and water. It took me 9 hours. About 6 to 7 riding and the rest were rest stops. Sadly I was unable to make the trip home and had to be picked up by my uncle for various reasons one being that Google maps drained my phone two times just getting there causing my battery bank to not have enough battery to last me for my trip back meaning I would have probably ended up in the middle of nowhere with a dead phone and no idea how to get back.
Man that is awesome! Congrats on making it that far. I hope you had a good seat with some nice handle bars because my back was a bit stiff from just riding 58 miles lol.
@@LAHover my throttle hand was killing me. It was actually sore for a day afterwords. I had a pretty nice seat that I tossed a gel seat cover onto to add more cushion. It was honestly pretty fun despite all the hardships I faced.
Wow Mesa to Peppersauce ...and pulling a trailer..... Thank god for 4 cycle... Maybe you rode on the shoulder of the Florence highway.... Going up Peppeesauce.....a little grade.... Good job
Our goal should be developing conversion kits for professional grade chainsaw motors. Those are rated for a minimum of 3,000 hours at full throttle and I have an old Husky with waaaay more hours than that.
Have you ever looked at the mountain bikes they sell at Dicks Sporting Goods. I have one that I use as a mountain bike and they are really good quality. They do have disc brakes so I don't know how that would work. I think they are around 300 but they are and m tough and might be a good fit for motorized bikes.
Have you seen the mid 1990's American mountain bikes, I use a 97 Trek 820 and handles alot of vibrations and I feel safe that it's doubled butted TIG weld Chromoly frame.. Chromoly is better than steel and aluminium.
Bike shop quality MTB's from the 1980's and early 1990's are a lot better made, usually CroMoly steel frames and better quality bearings and wheels are what you want to convert to a motorized bicycle
I built mine with a Schwinn delmar. Rode it 5 mins then took it 15 miles downtown to court and back the next day. the last 4 miles the rear bearings exploded out. I replaced the ball bearings. Hoping it last
Making sure the chain is true from the motor to the rear sprocket and the chain tensioner agrees with that line. Took me several times to find that perfect alignment. Had to slightly adjust the motor to make sure the chain was level and true. I made a line tool with a piece of an old tape measure that was stiff enough to lay on top of the chain to make a straight line. Also checked the link to make sure it was secure . Had to adjust the level of the chain tensioner so the chain would ride flat in the center.
I enjoy ebery minute of the ride, just got this motor on amazon, got a jack sjaft for it just to go to the grocery store and showoff, thanks for the video.
Hello, nice video and thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. I'm in L.A. (not LA) and work delivering food. My D.L. was suspended right before the courts closed over the coronavirus issue, means I can't even pay for my traffic ticket so I'm stuck having to depend on my sister or my uncle to drive me around to pick up and deliver orders. The point is .... I can't decide wether to install an engine on my Trek bike or to turn it into an e-bike. Motorized bicycles are loud and e-bikes are not. E-bikes can run out of juice and motorized bicycles can keep on running on gas so you can see some pros and cons with either option. Whatever the end choice, the bike would have to be used for long and short periods all day, every day (not trailing but in metro areas like downtown Los Angeles). Do you think a motorized bicycle can take on that task ?.... Like you said before, I would try to convert it myself for the learning experience. Thank you
Guido, I have made a few motorized bikes and I use em really often in my suburb. I would 100% say get a motorized bike, but especially a 4 stroke and not a 2 stroke like the one in this video, cause it’ll be quieter so you’ll get harassed less and no mixing gas and oil. Also the common 4 stroke kit is 49cc which in almost every-state can either be ridden as a normal bicycle or just classified as a moped which means you’re set from a legal standpoint. The 4 strokes in my opinion are less work and usually more reliable so I’d totally go with a 4 stroke. But you may wanna buy an aftermarket chain tensioner cause the ones that usually come with em suck
Thank You for the gas tank trick. I didn't have any spare bad tube around...so... I used a couple layers of gasket material and cut some rings out. It works! I'm about 45 minutes from that trail and would like to give it a shot. At least one of the better sections when its cool and dry at the same time (good luck with tha, right?). Did you say you needed a permit?
Nice job going motor off walking around the water but hope it you were talkin about near your 30-mile marker I'm a fellow motorized bike rider myself man
That was a nice trail ride. 58 miles, how much fuel did you use. This would be a perfect example to give actual Mpg. LA, it is time that you built a shed to put your Bikes in. That would be another Video on how to build a shed ( from timber from the Mill) LA style.
Judging by how much was left in the tank when I gassed up I can safely say this bike/motor combo can easily get 80mpg. It would have made 40 miles on that 2 liter tank for sure. And you are correct, I need to build a shed lol, been wanting to do it for a while now.
Ehh I don't like the idea of full suspension with a motor, the bikes arnt made for it and the engine moves in relation to the back wheel and chain so your basically stuck with the derailer having to take up the slack and keep it tight, probably ok on flat ground but asking for trouble if the chain jumps off when going over a bump(like a trail), for trails and the like I think fixed chains are the best bet, at least safety wise, all I know it chain lock it scary, wouldn't like it in the middle not a trail
@@2strokeunlimited2.06 it's more just the thought of it, it might be fine but it's just a added worry, and a front suspension fork and a suspension seat will get you the majority of the benefits a full suspension bike will, at least for a motorized bike, completely different if non-motorized
@@JamesPiccone granted with a smaller rear sprocket you can probably get by with a bike chain, the reduced tork and all, it's mostly the possibility of it jumping and causing the rear tire to lock that I find to be a issue
Well Friend I have good news for you. Although it might not feel like it depending on how deep in the city you live. But California is 45.8% Federal land, and has relaxed laws for these motorized bikes. This means that you don't need to worry about being harassed by cops (assuming you follow traffic laws and stay under 25mph on public roads). It also means that you can explore ALLOT of places without the fear of trespassing.

You've probably already gotten a million and a half requests for this but you should do a video with a dog cam, where a cam is mounted to the back if the dog (if Henry's ok with that, I know that some dogs dont prefer vests and harnesses)

I'm wanting to build a ebike, but would like to maybe put a small gas engine on it also, what I'm planning, is more of a moped, or scooter, I'll be building my own frame, or modifying a mountin bike frame, I looking at about 10-20 kw peak power, I'd like something even if it's a generator, maybe use a bldc as generator, and connect to the bike motor, basically like a diesel electric locomotive! As a backup, possibly removable for short range, even if it's a weed eater motor, with a 1 kw bldc as generator, it's not really going to be a peddlable bike, I'm planning to add peddles do it can be called a bicycle, abit similar to the old peddle mopeds, basically peddle to start, but I'm planning to only use the peddles to put my feet on! Great video! I been curious about the range of these motors,
Can I just say I'm English & hello to the U.S.A except the miserable old cow! 🤭 There's always one isn't there! Anyway about the bike, can I ask what motor cc it is & did you custom build the exhaust or is it stock? I enjoyed watching the journey & liked the narration along the way. Great video..... thank you from England. 👍.
His comment is actually for the bill you did with the 110 I believe it was Bill what sprocket where are you running on that bike when you did that bill
I just built a bike with the cheapest 80cc motor kit on the market, and I have a couple of questions. First off, I used a Kent Seachange bicycle (single speed) with a coaster brake originally made with the bike. I took off the wheels and replaced them with mag wheels, with disc brakes already on the rear and front wheels, but found out that modifications need to be made in order to get the calipers on. Now I can't get the junkpile of a bike going yet, especially with no brakes. So I tried to use the original wheel for the back, but the coaster brake system broke inside the hub somehow when taking it out, to put on the rag joint and sprocket. Now I took the front wheel that was originally on the bike and put the rag joint and sprocket on that. Now I have no way to pedal the bike and start it other than push it down a hill and pop the clutch but I do have a pull start with shorts out the magneto so I can't use that. How can I fix this problem other than having to buy a new wheel or pay someone to fix it for me which is not easy to do either in this place I live. Nobody condones motorized bicycles and people have been sighted numerous times. What do I need to do?
Having no idea how bad the rear wheel is, it's hard to say. You could take the shoes out of the hub (leave everything else) and it will free wheel while still allowing you to pedal. Than add a rim brake. I don't like or trust mag rims, but you could use the back mag, front stock wheel and add a brake to the front. Just keep your speed down because emergency braking with just the front is dangerous.
@@LAHover interesting ,, did you do any of the hacks, like sanding them down a tad, and scratching them to grip onto the hub with a little blue lock tight?? I'm in the process of shopping for new stuff, gonna try to get mine up working again, but had nothing but problems with the back sproket being true, and a shitty tensioner, just nothing but probs,, just found your channel yesterday, enjoy your vids, thanks for the response
Trying to get my bike up and running. Can't figure out why the motor will start and run, but when I hit the gas it has little to no torque then dies IDK. Anyone who has any ideas would really appreciate the help. :)
Make sure you don't see any oil build up around any of the gaskets that might be causing a loss of compression. Also make sure your choke is not vibrating on, allot of the carbs have lose chokes. It might not hurt to take the carb off and give it a clean, they are known to have junk in them from the factory. Don't worry they are super simple and can be cleaned in less than 10 minutes. There are a bunch of videos on how to clean them.
I think you should run a fat bike system and see how that goes, or if you already have a video like that on your channel please to kindly link me to it. Fat bikes are really good for riding trails and rough terrain and they soften the impact small ditches and shit. I remember once trying to dodge a person and fell into a pot hole and I poped right back out like nothing happened because of my fat tires 😅 boy was I surprised, I honestly thought I was gonna fly right over my handle bars and be in some serious hurt because this was a steep drop and a steep climb back up. Any normal bike my ass would have been grass for sure, I've flown over handle bars before and that little bit of time you have in the air is fun until impact 😂
First I thought you had a 4 stroke engine where the gas and oil are separate. But you mixed it at the gas station. So I Figured out why your bike is giving you a challenge. It's not running rich, sort of. When you pour the oil directly into the tank it just sits very thickly. It doesn't difuse or dilute and mix with the gas properly. Then when it it gets to the carb it's too "rich" but not in gas it's in oil. I would highly suggest that you pour the oil into your "spare" tank and mix the gas and oil in that or other gas approved container and shake/mix the oil and gas. Also pour the oil in after the gas. When you need to refuel use your "spare" tank first, then refill it with gas then oil. The jostling in your pack will thoroughly mix it.
When going over your gear for your trip and i saw your last but not least item i had to subscribe! I'm thinking about putting a briggs and Stratton on one of my mountain bikes.
Leave your needle clip in the middle and size up your main jet first whether this means drilling it larger or soldering it full and redrilling to a smaller size I live in colo and altitude changes of thousands of feet are common on my rides that's where the needle adjustments come into play ii have 15years experience with these motors and could provide you with a lot of good tips if you so desire good luck!
I want that NT carb. I got the bofang and I am pretty sure I cant do jetting without soldering and drilling on the bofang, correct? Also where did you aquire that exaust? Or at least the piping so I can make a custom exhaust using the factory flange. I need to learn more about expansion chambers etc, first so I know how to build a proper custom. Exaust. Otherwise I'm going with the Mz65 clone pipe with the amazon silencer. The feed back is promising enough. Mine is an 80cc, all decked and ported. I am a small engin mechanic but there is a lot to learn with the moterized bikes to run them properly and keep em running. Regardless I do want to learn how to make custom exaust for these motors.
Power is great after breakin. With a 36t sprocket if has the same~ low end as a pk80 on a 44t, but goes faster :). with a 56t it's a trail monster, but it gets to hot at low speeds.

I wonder why if your igniting your exhaust

It blew up from a circlip failure. I just got done rebuilding the engine a few minutes ago and I'm heading to the hardware store to buy hardware to mount it back on the bike.
I'm buying the G style clip circlips but have the 2 pronged ones in right now. They are very sketchy. Buy G clip and you're fine.

I’d love to see a video on how you got your bike to be that fast or at least look the fast I can’t get mine to go that fast
My bike should be just about the same speed as others with a YD100 and a 26" frame (30~mph).
Here are three things that make it look faster. The gopro is recording in super view (extra wide angle lens), the camera is mounted to my chest (lower cameras look faster), and the angle is slightly down (seeing more moving ground and less sky).
;)
Racing carb and small sproket for speed
I'm on a 60cc with the same exhaust and stock nt carb pulling 35-40 and 40-45 on a slight down hill
Consider switching to a disc brake rear wheel using the brake disc holes to mount your sprocket to this eliminates all the spoke torsion from the thru spoke mounting system the results your wheel stays straight and your sprocket runs true!
Whenever you go fill up you should always close your fuel valve so oil dosent immediately go into the carburetor before mixing with the gas
"never leave home without adequate protection"... I agree with that, but was sad to see you didn't have a ruger.

I find these videos helpful thank you for making them.

Hi what should I do if my chain keeps snapping and breaking or falling off the sprocket every 2 miles
Even the bearings inside the pedal crank need's to be greased really good.
Thank you
Some good points I'd like to hit on here. I'll reply to them in this Friday's video :)
You should get a 4 stroke friction drive
Great video. Thank you so very much. I enjoyed watching the adventure..

Judging by how much was left in the tank when I gassed up I can safely say this bike/motor combo can easily get 80mpg. It would have made 40 miles on that 2 liter tank for sure.

I think a full suspension bike with a shift kit and a good motor would be amazing for trail riding
@@jaykoerner I guess but I've seen people ride them hard off road I think with quality parts and bike it would work
@@2strokeunlimited2.06 it's more just the thought of it, it might be fine but it's just a added worry, and a front suspension fork and a suspension seat will get you the majority of the benefits a full suspension bike will, at least for a motorized bike, completely different if non-motorized
@@JamesPiccone well good to hear my thoughts arnt alone

I been curious about the range of these motors,
if you got a spring shock seat post that may help the back wheel far as wait on the bike with the bumbs

By the way, I really enjoy your videos, and support what you do.
Sited not sighted
Cited
The whole problem with the bike is the back wheel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
“Never leave home without adequate protection” HELL YEA!!
You didnt like the hub adapter over that spoke clamp assembly?
I think they work great on large hubs (like coaster brake hubs). But 1"-1.5" adapters never worked for me.

Good day to you, Pete respect your gun.
cutting across the grass short cut genius buddy !
I normally don't fill up at a pump, I just did for my return trip. but good idea about using the back up tank to mix the gas.

Flying down them trails. Lol. I want one of these. Awesome fun💯
It’s that exhaust I had to change mine out for the bogging at half throttle
So you put half of one of those lil bottles of 2 stroke oil in each tank
How does this "100" compare to the typical previous engines? Is there a noticeable increase in power capacity?
Power is great after breakin. With a 36t sprocket if has the same~ low end as a pk80 on a 44t, but goes faster :).
with a 56t it's a trail monster, but it gets to hot at low speeds.
Anyone ever use a jackshaft, and use the sprockets and gears? Like have a 7 speed from a 21speed bike??
