I lived in this home from 2006-2012, as a renter, with a friend. We occupied the parlor floor, the garden level, and the basement. We had friends who lived in the level above the parlor floor too. It is SO amazing to see what has been done to fix the place up, and your restoration of the central stairs (putting it all back as it had been originally, and removing the wall) is so gratifying to me. I used to stand there and imagine what it had been like before it had been turned into apartments. I would love to see the floor you didn’t show (the garden level floor). When I lived there, the front was a very large bedroom, and there was our dining room in the middle, and the kitchen in the back. And yes, we had that servant staircase that you mentioned in this video, at the bottom of which was a laundry room. Anyway, I love what you’ve done. I wanna visit it and admire in person! 😊😊
Great segment. I love how you deferred most of the tour to the owner/designer. I give you high praise for allowing this presentation to be ALL ABOUT the house and its interest, not about offering your critique or brilliant knowledge interfere with the story. Well done! Adam is a genius! I'd never heard of him, but this project is clearly amazing. I mean, I love that he commissioned the work to be part of a designer's showcase home. BRILLIANT!! Great episode!!
Absolutely beautiful 😍. I truly wish 1 quarter of the people who do so called rehab work would have the passion you and your team do to put into these old beautiful homes before there completely gone. Thank you your a blessing to your trade ❤
Thank you for sharing a beautiful brown stone home there in Brooklyn. The living room and parlor room are very cute. The red kitchen simply gorgeous. I love the vintage look all around this home. Again, thanks for this showing of beautiful property.😊
Wow! Wow! WOW! So glad all the good original stuff was restored and, if necessary, replaced like-for-like - but with great modern stuff where it made sense! This home is a masterpiece! Everyone should treat old buildings as respectfully and well as this fellow did (that is, if people have the time and money, of course).
That house is beyond beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us. I could spend so much time just walking through admiring the wood detail before I even moved on to the design elements. I really like the kids bathroom that had the arched mirrors carrying the arch theme by the bathtub. Truly well done.
This house is absolutely gorgeous. I love that you modernized it but still kept so many of the original details. How do you get from the parlor floor to the speakeasy? Do you have to enter from the garden floor?
@@davidyip9058 thanks for watching! That’s a good question. I would imagine if would have had to cost $300 to $400 per foot which translates to $1.3 mill to $1.8 mill
This is beautiful! I must admit, I tend to love these brownstones more from the outside than the inside. Something about the original details usually strike me as dated and oppressive as opposed to classic and elegant. They really overcame that feel in my opinion.
Absolutely beautiful home. The original shudders and all the millwork is phenomenal! I have to say that the range hood does not fit and looks like it belongs in a modern high rise up the street. The surrounding mouldings and original floors are stunning though!
Did you say this home isn't for sale? Because, wow, it would be a lucky person or family that gets to live in this amazing home. That speakeasy would be a great place to entertain and listen to music with friends. 😊
Nice renovation , other than the contemporary lighting which does nothing to celebrate the history of the house. Nice to see they were not afraid of wallpaper or color. Filled with high end victorian furniture and a little more color I could actually live in it, unlike most of the bland boring urbanist renos I typically see that look like a hotel. Thank you for preserving the pocket door and woodwork! I hope its a trend. This detail and workmanship of that era are to be celebrated not discarded.
Of the 7 designers involved 3 are people of color, though not from the neighborhood. This was my home of 12 years before renovating it. I purchased the home at market price from the previous owner from the neighborhood who owned it since the 1970's. He used the house as a rental property not as his primary.
What difference does it make. It was originally a white neighborhood that overtime became a Black neighborhood, predominantly Blacks from the Caribbean. I grew up there.
I turned down the volume and continued to watch. I prefer the simplicity of a modern dwelling. Then I don’t have to be bored to death by the minutiae of somebody’s renovation.
I appreciate all the restoration work, however the modern built ins are too overpowering in scale and position to the spaces, really disliked them, glad I don't have to live there.
I like a lot of the restoration. Stain glass windows are out of this world. But this house is way too 18:54 dark for. With windows only on the front and back you need a lighter colors and stain. I hate the kitchen. Fireplace looks out of place. And that red color is just too garish

Wow! That's amazing! The garden level is currently under renovation. I would love to show you the home with Adam. Email me at justin.m@compass.com
small world! Do you still live in a nyc townhouse?
@ No, I live in a bigger pre-war building in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn now.

Thanks for watching and feedback! Adam needs to do more townhouse projects :)

Me too! Thanks for watching!
Me, too! When he commented about the developer down the street was throwing original doors and trim into a dumpster, my heart stopped for a bit.
What a wonderful renovation result! First time watching a Justin video, I love how you are genuinely delighted as you tour this home.
Thanks for watching!!!

Absolutely grateful to the details and beauty of this restoration ❤❤❤❤
One of one :) Thanks for watching!
What an amazing find to see the doors being thrown into a dumpster! WOW!
when architecture was beautiful. Our souls need beauty. 🌸

Thanks for watching! And I agree! I would love to see this more in other brownstone renovations.
It is wonderful!
Hat tip for real NY history.
Absolutely Gorgeous! ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
So beautiful!!! lots of wood and if it is the original, that is good wood.
They did a great job restoring the original wood!
Gorgeous.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed
Love Brownstones.Beautiful home

My pleasure! I didn't want to leave when Adam had us over the week before for his reveal party.

Incredible restoration!! How much would a restoration like that cost?

Wow!
I've seen many townhouses. This one is truly special
Amazing
I'd be drunk if I took a shot every time he said, "When I bought the house..." Got it. You bought the house? 😆
It is so awesome he probably has a hard time believing he bought it 💖
I wish developers would build more homes like this! I am tired of the cheap, crappy row houses they are building today.
Agreed! Thanks for watching!
splendide
I love this home. Unfortunately, I'm a senior citizen and need an elevator.
Thanks for watching. And that is a valid concern.

99% beautiful! But that range hood is the missing 1%❤

Agreed! Such a cool home. The owner is going to rent it.
OMG this is so wonderful to see all the original wood details and the floors too 🤌🏽 Perfection.

That is a very long walk from the kitchen to the dining table.
Good feedback. The dining table can be moved closer to the kitchen. It was a design choice
Where any designers involved in the process who represented the neighborhood prior to the gentrification of the area? Just asking!
@@WonTrow they are probably dead

@@faithandgrace8244 Non response. You mentioned race not me. Still didn’t answer the question thank you.
Love it all, but that kitchen island has to go....

Fabulous house, but the brain numbing horrendous music in the background was just awful.
Beautiful!! More importantly, vote for Jill Stein!!

Beautiful home, horrific taste from the “designer”
Must be nice to be a millionaire and still get windows and appliances donted to you for free. Smh
