I am past the point of endless youthful energy, and staring down the realities of becoming an old man. I must say, you kind sir, are an inspiration. Age focused through wisdom, acceptance and a mature appreciation for life! Brilliant stuff.
Two of my favorite topics; a new pipe and Tolkien! Having been a reader of the latter since 1968 and a smoker of the former since 1975, such a visit touches me nostalgically as well! I am old enough and comfortable enough to admit I'm a romantic and find myself in these later years returning to the stories that first captured my dreams as a youth; both fiction and in the Gospels. Thank you for these visits, Rev!
This feels like meeting a new friend as he shows you his new pipe and you share a moment in celebration of this new thing of joy. A true moment in what is the elusive and flimsical nature of the internet. Thank you for sharing the moment!

I met Jason Patrick at the Texas Pipe Show last November. If I had known we had you in common the joy would have been greater! Give you joy of the new bowl!!
Dont quite know how I stumbled across your videos but I find them both intriguing and comforting. A 50 year old Canadian with Geordie immigrant parents, I have distant memories of visiting my grandparents in Blyth, in their humble two up two down by the sea and watching in awe as grandpa Jack smoked his pipe, showed us his war medals and played us old Aker Bilk vinyls. Then we took a ride in the old VW Beetle to the chip shop for saveloy and haddock and finished our meals off newspaper with a 99 cone from the cornershop. A simple life seems so much better.
Take up the pipe in this man's honor and continue the lovely tradition, art, and science of pipe smoking. I have been intrigued, smoking, and collecting pipes since I was a teenager and they are truly fascinating, as is this fine gentleman! Thank you sir.

I think the algorithm must’ve recommended this to me because I like to watch relaxing videos at nighttime. This is fantastic. I also kind of want to take up pipe smoking now! Thank you for having us over.
Your friend the pipe make is quite right. Those of us who spend a lot of time in our heads, reading and mulling gravitate to cigars and pipes after our middle year's. And I believe have a need to work with our hands. I have been a lay minister in one of my many roles, I was introduced to cigars in my 40s, and it ws the last 1/2inch of a Cuban, a montecristo no 7 that inspired me to craft my first pipe. Since then, I have made many pipes, and each one has been for me a meditation in recycled timber or a piece of timber scavenged from a forest floor. There is something powerful in sitting under a tree communing with source and smoking - an Anatolian and Kentucky blend that I have cured myself - for 46 minutes in a pipe I've crafted with my own hands. Much love, brother. I had forgotten this piece written by Merry. It was excellent to be reminded.
Wonderful. So nice to have a small measure of calm sanity, beauty, and fellowship in these times of extraordinary foolishness in which we live. Thank you for sharing this Reverend Guite.
Oh my. Somehow you came upon my feed. I absolutely loved this. As a pastor myself, I came into pipe smoking after my Dad passed away. I found his old pipe and asked my Mum if I could have it. I knew that I wanted to be connected to him somehow. And this was it. I have such fond memories of him laying by the fireplace smoking his pipe up the chimney. Since then, I have cherished my time of puffing away. Petersons are my favorite too. And yes, there is something about just sitting and smoking. It's a calming and centering sort of thing. To bring it around to Hobbits, just made my night! Cheers to you, Malcom. Kenneth.

POV: You’ve found the best NPC in the game.
He has pipe and tobacco quests
This guy is the mc. We're the random npc that he crossed paths with and shared a story and a smoke.
This feels like meeting a new friend as he shows you his new pipe and you share a moment in celebration of this new thing of joy. A true moment in what is the elusive and flimsical nature of the internet. Thank you for sharing the moment!
1) I don't know how youtube brought me here but I absolutely ADORE this guy, within the first minute I felt like I was hanging out with a really wise and chill uncle and 2) I love me some pipeweed too 😎
I can sit here and listen to this guy speak all day i think he's like a grandfather we all wish we had 😃
This just randomly popped up on my feed and i'm grateful it did. Thank you for the chat, sir.
you're welcome
I met Jason Patrick at the Texas Pipe Show last November. If I had known we had you in common the joy would have been greater! Give you joy of the new bowl!!
Ah the yank shows its face ahahaahah like the fargen 9th law of physics
I don't know how I stumbled across your channel just now, but I'm so glad I did! This was delightful! Lord bless you!
Welcome!
This has to be a YT record for most positive comments in a row on a video. I love everything about this video.
Very good to drop by and enjoy a bit of Tolkien & some pipeweed. 'Apples for walking, and a pipe for sitting,' as Sam would remind us.
Glad you enjoyed it
Good day fine sir.
Thanks, I know Blyth and your description is very evocative!
Lovely comment. I agree with your last sentence. A Brit living (reluctantly) in Canada.
Take up the pipe in this man's honor and continue the lovely tradition, art, and science of pipe smoking. I have been intrigued, smoking, and collecting pipes since I was a teenager and they are truly fascinating, as is this fine gentleman! Thank you sir.
This feels like visiting a neighbor, having a smoke, and listening to old stories and I could do this for hours. Thank you for this content, it's very relaxing to sit and relax with you
My grandpa died before I was born, I love lord of the rings, I am listening to you read Tolkien, as I imagine he would. Thank you for your channel and all that you do!
You can tell this gentleman really appreciates and is touched by such a personal gift. The piece is beautiful, but the delight in a gift from a friend is the real treasure.
This is one of the rare times that a randomly recommended video actually warmed the cockles of my heart.
I feel like we just watched Father Christmas sharing a hobby with us during his time off from doing Christmas things.
Subscribed.
I love this man so much. I have never felt more warm, calm and cozy in my life. This man, with his reading room, and his arm chair, and his pipe, and his books, this man is life goals.
you are most kind!
@@MalcolmGuitespellThank you sir, you too! I don't know how the logistics would work, or if it's even possible, but I would pay good money for an audio book version of you reading the whole Lord of the Rings series. I could listen to your genuine passion and love of the material over and over again.
Beautiful and cozy.Perfect on a rainy day,or a big snowstorm. ❤
I just love well-spoken, well-mannered and highly educated people. Idk how I got there but here I am.
Maybe it's just the British accent lol (joking) but you, sir, are probably my best discovery here on this platform. God bless you
Outstanding. YOU sir are a treasure of the old ways. I sit with my Churchwarden smoking Skarsgaard, a fresh cup of steaming Ethiopian, and a warm Danish in my study listening to my favorite subject of Tolkien. There is nothing better. I thank you Malcolm.
This was excellent. This is the first video in a long time that I didn't fast-forward through at all. Just a man talking about pipes and Tolkien, how wonderful.
Had the lovely pleasure to listen to this poet of a soul during my time in university.
Very glad YT recommended this 😊
I think the algorithm must’ve recommended this to me because I like to watch relaxing videos at nighttime.
Iagree with you entirely!
Kenneth.
Also, I did a semester at Regent College in Vancouver, where I'm orginally from. Had an incredible Systematic Theology class with Packer
I thought my days of firing new pipes were over, but after watching this video I realize they only just begun. Thanks for sharing and I hope you’re still enjoying your one of a kind pipe!
I wish you were my neighbor. I love listening to you riff. Greetings from the US kind soul.
Such a beautiful artisan pipe Malcolm. To own one, made especially for you is a joy, a friend and companion to treasure. Thank you for sharing it's very first spark up with us fellow pipers!!
Serene smokes,
Gary
Hello from Alabama in the USA!🇺🇸 I don’t know why YT recommended this channel to me but you are great and I love your voice. All the blessing to you and family and I’ll use your videos to fall asleep to sir!
my dad was a pipe smoker and your demeanour and style of lighting reminds me of him. Thank you.
My great grandfather smoked a pipe. I loved the smell of the tobacco leaves he hung, the smell of the pipe smoke, and he used to blow smoke rings for us as kids and we loved it. It's simple things like this that make memories so special. Thank you for this Malcolm.
My deepest respect for this Man.
We so miss such true, wise, humble and meaningful conversation
Pure gold of TH-cam
Thanks
A thing of beauty is a joy forever! Congratulations Malcolm on the pipe! It is a most appropriate and well deserved present. What an incredible craftsman. And I'm glad you were able to share it with us. Thank you.
My friend, keep this up and your channel will grow exponentially. This is the exact type of wholesome content that the worlds both needs and wants nowadays. Cheers.
Thanks!
Well said
A refined and scholarly gentleman! That's who I aspire to be!
Handsome pipe, definitely your cuppa! Great reading. Pipe smoking is definitely slowly coming back. Fantastic!
Delightful time.
I have such a vivid picture of the smell of that room. Reminds me of my grandpa's old study
The way you read is like listening to an old familiar conversation. I feel like I'm being "told about the middle earth" rather than being read to. Truly magnificent.... Bravo
I have absolutely NO idea why I used 13:27 minutes here. But I loved it. Thank you for you.
You are the grandpa we all need.
I wanna hangout in grandpas room on the floor in front of him and listen to him read us stories.
I refinish hardwood floors for a living. That's some beautiful grain in that pipe
indeed there is!
Beautiful handcrafted pipe. The exquisite details reflect your own love and passion for pipe smoking, the Trinity, and love of ancient things. Thank you for sharing the first firing with us!
I first found your channel by searching "tolkien pipes", so it's great to see this drop today. Thanks making these, Malcolm!
I really aspire to be like you at your age! What a wonderful moment it seems to be, just to sit in a chair, smoke some pipe and read books. Lovely video!
I fired up one of my favorite pipes with you my friend; delightful!
Good to hear!
You remind me of my dear grandfather, good sir. He was very fond of H.P. Lovecraft's works and similar horror fictions, you would often find him in his library, sitting in his comfortable chair, smoking his pipe while reading said works. You've earned a subscriber, and thank you for bringing those wonderful memories back!
Glad to see you living your best life man. I'm just getting into lord of the rings after being read the Hobbit as a child and Tolkien perfectly captures the energy of smoking with good company every time. Hope you're still enjoying your pipe!
I clicked on this just to enjoy the man's character. As I get old, ill mourn the passing of such folk. Remember, the oldest people around you are the oldest people you will ever get to meet - and they are the last living part of a world that is long dead.
