- I show you the beautiful new pipe made for me by Jason Patrick, and light it for the first time and then read 'concerning pipeweed' from the Fellowship of the Rings.
Jason Patrick has a website for the pipes he makes which is here jasonpatrickpipes
And there are some lovely photos of my particular pipe here: www.jasonpatrick.photo/People...

I have NO idea why YT recommended this to me, but it was exactly what I needed at the end of a very busy day. Thank you!
LOL, same. I have never watched pipe content before and don't search Tolkien often on YT but popped up right as I was going to take the dog out for her night time walk and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now im going to have to listen to LOTR on the walk.
Well, maybe one day we'll welcome you in the pipe smoking community.
Same hahahah. This guys looks soooo happy XD.
Same
@@CristiNeagu I have actually been considering trying out pipes. I enjoy the flavor of a good cigar but I don't like the size of them and the cost can be ludicrous, minis are a decent alternative but trying a pipe has been on my mind for a little while.
I honestly just have NO idea where to start with it. Don't want to waste money on a pipe and pouch and not enjoy it, ect..
It doesn't happen often, but every once and awhile, the algorithm gets it right and recommends something wonderful
Though your comment is really nice, your username makes the whole thing crap.

As would i!!!.
I just was commenting this lol
No idea how I got here but I’m a grown ass man and I would sit on the floor cross legged and listen to this man read and smoke his pipe with the curiosity and wide eyed look of a child.
We all still have that little child in our hearts!
Oh, to sit under this man's theological learning tree ~
💯😁
I bet the smell of old books, a well used fireplace and pipe smoke in that room is absolutely amazing.
And no doubt a Pint of Ale say ( King Goblin ) just to get into the spirit of things 😀 Cheers .😊

I collect vintage audio gear. I actually love it when a console or tube amp smells like tobacco smoke when it warms up.
@@jdsalinger73 sounds amazing 👊
This man looks and acts like he could have been imagined by Tolkien. I mean that as a compliment. No idea how TH-cam brought me here but here we are.
Tom Bombadil never left with the other Maiar. He stayed to watch the Age of Man. ;)
Have a look at the Aqualung album cover by Jethro Tull. It is him, he had come alive! But is a proper gentleman, and not a creepy bum.
@@Tenshihan-Quinnwhy do you think hes a maiar? Maiar can be affected by the ring, Tom Bombadil cannot

I don’t know why I am here either. It of course doesn’t matter. Watching a man enjoy his comforts while surrounded by books in a comfy arm chair and reading Tolkien. It’s lovely and calming
The vest adds +10 Wisdom +10 Charisma
Watching Santa break in new pipe is irrationally satisfying.
I have to do something between Christmases!
This video gave me +10 years of life
Listen to your elders.. it’s a proven fact biologically, now being anecdotelixed by TH-cam
wow 👍
I have Stage 4 cancer and don’t know how long I’ll have left to live on this Earth of ours, but reading TLOTR and watching you smoke in a comfortable nook is just enough to make me die happy
Edit: Thank you to everyone who has commented, it’s a beautiful rarity on the internet. I’m 31 and my name is Connor. My recent scan revealed I may have more time yet here so you’re stuck with me. All I can say is, enjoy your life, even the small things, call your mum or dad and tell them you love them. Ask out that girl/boy don’t worry about trivialities like embarrassment and self doubt, do it now while you have the time!
Edit again: My recent scan showed no tumours, I won!
Sorry to hear of your illness, but every blessing on you as you bear it, I'm honoured if I can make any of those moments happy!
@@MalcolmGuitespell The faith that you exude towards our Lord is heartwarming and joining you in prayer is beautiful enough for me, thank you! Love from the green valleys of south Wales.
Wishing you and yours all the best, no matter how long may be left. I'm glad we both found Malcolm's channel - and for what it's worth, I'd be honored to listen with you while there's still time :)
God bless you I’m sorry for the conditions you are going through I hope you recover and god gives a miracle stay strong even knowing when your down have faith however long you have I pray the best for you Im sorry for this
Can I ask you something? Should we enjoy life with risks envolved like smoking pipes or should we live healthy but strict and with lots of rules for longevity?
POV: You’ve found the best NPC in the game.
I want this man to read me stories while I fall asleep with the fireplace noises in the background and a soft calm rain hitting the roof.
That’s a Friday if I heard of one
Lord willing I will live long enough to achieve this gentleman's level of whimsy and magnificence. Everything. The books, the beard, the affable nature of his smile and demeanor. A spectacle. A chap. A fellow.
Perfectly stated.

We are lucky to have you. There is a gentle nobility and grace about you that uplifts others. Thanks for sharing the wisdom and the pipe, but really thanks for being you. I can tell you have saved many souls. Tolkien would be proud!
What a beautiful comment. I could not have said it better.
I just love well-spoken, well-mannered and highly educated people. Idk how I got there but here I am.
Maybe it's just the British accent lol (joking) but you, sir, are probably my best discovery here on this platform. God bless you
Never in my life on YT have I EVER searched for videos like this…some reason YT recommended this video to me and lo and behold this was exactly what I needed to end my night. Cheers Mate.
I knew an old highland cattle farmer in western New York State who was of Scottish heritage and was a celtic priest, teacher, woodworker and many other things. He became a sort of adoptive grandfather to my fiancée and I and would smoke a pipe as he told us stories for hours in his hand built stone house. I don’t think many young people our age get to experience that and I treasure it so deeply. He’s passed on now and your videos remind me so much of the time we had with him. They bring me a lot of comfort and I thank you for that.
Wonderful to have met such a character!
Where in NY? I grew up in Rochester. His old place sounds amazing
Are we all getting recommended this on the same month in February 2024?!
I am Glad I watched I really enjoyed the contents of this video. Never thought I’d be enthralled with pipe smoking but here I am 😂
Yes. This channel is about to blow up. For future reference, 29.3k subscribers today.
Yes!
It is odd, yet, here we are.
Recommend to me today and now I’ve subscribed!
Yes same here 😂🏴
I can sit here and listen to this guy speak all day i think he's like a grandfather we all wish we had 😃
One messy room with books, whiskey and pipes everywhere and a very happy man. I would love to grow old as he has later in life
My 3yr old daughter looked over my shoulder while I was watching this and asked “is that Santa?”
No, it’s someone far more magical!
Love that 🤣
As a teenager I was part of a theatre production of The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe in which Malcolm actually portrayed Father Christmas!
A role he was made for. Magical certainly is the word!
And, obviously, real (a lot of boos incoming)
Make your kids forget about Santa. Tell them about Gandalf instead, for God’s sake.
Something far more magical indeed.
This is why the internet was created and where it shines the most. Old dudes smoking pipes. Best channel ever. Important.

I've never really got into the Lord of the Rings, nor pipe smoking, nor poetry and writing. But this video is exactly what I needed today.

I thought my days of firing new pipes were over, but after watching this video I realize they only just begun. Thanks for sharing and I hope you’re still enjoying your one of a kind pipe!
I think I was brought here because of the Tolkien bit. Stayed here for your wonderful voice and then became interested in the pipe and how it's made.
"Angels can fly because they can take themselves lightly." I feel you capture a great deal of this G.K. Chesterton quote.

I feel like I'm visiting a friend's relative who is happy to see me and full of wisdom to share in a room full of comfort and knowledge. Lovely stuff
This is one of the rare times that a randomly recommended video actually warmed the cockles of my heart.

As much as youtub drives me nuts sometimes, without it I wouldnt find wee gems like this vid. Thankyou sir, for uploading.
I don't know why TH-cam recommended this video to me, but as there was "Tolkien" in the title, I clicked on it, and it was really what I needed, thanks for this TH-cam.
That Sir, in spite of its refusal to stay lit, is one of the prettiest artisan pipes I've seen. It will learn to behave as you teach it to smoke. What a lovely pipe and a fortunate fellow. MUCH LOVE ole friend.

@MooseMeus lord of the rings is an epic, almost mythological tale. Historically, myths were supposed to be told orally. Never mind what that other guy said. A practiced storyteller reading an epic tale is just as much the "real" experience as reading it on paper.

How comforting this video was to watch after a long hard day at work! Absolutely wonderful!
Two of my favorite topics; a new pipe and Tolkien! Having been a reader of the latter since 1968 and a smoker of the former since 1975, such a visit touches me nostalgically as well! I am old enough and comfortable enough to admit I'm a romantic and find myself in these later years returning to the stories that first captured my dreams as a youth; both fiction and in the Gospels. Thank you for these visits, Rev!
The smoke rings are a very nice touch.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you from Minnesota USA
I think many of us were read fantastical stories as children, and there's something still comforting about it as an adult. My late grandfather was my best friend, he died in 2021, but I lived with him for over a decade and have very fond memories of him spending his evenings reading books in his recliner. This video definitely touched some emotions for me.
That artisan pipe suits you perfectly…a wonderfully crafted, meaningful piece! And accompanied by one of my very favorite readings. Thank you for sharing this today!
Glad you enjoyed it!

The rift of the YT algorithms have brought me here. I've recently started pipe smoking.
The lore and culture is starting to grow on me.
Good gentlemans, such as yourself, are an inspiration.
The subtlety of your interaction with the cameraperson and the way you speak directly to the viewer ("I'm glad you came to call now") is such a delightful detail that I was wholly transported into this moment with you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings with me and carving out a little moment of peace amongst the cacophony of life.
I'm no longer a person of religion but I still hold that there is Divinity in and amongst the little, natural moments in life, and I'd like to think that you and this video carry some of that to all who have the chance to watch it. Thank you Malcolm.
Thanks for that thoughtful response
This feels like visiting a neighbor, having a smoke, and listening to old stories and I could do this for hours. Thank you for this content, it's very relaxing to sit and relax with you
Outstanding. YOU sir are a treasure of the old ways. I sit with my Churchwarden smoking Skarsgaard, a fresh cup of steaming Ethiopian, and a warm Danish in my study listening to my favorite subject of Tolkien. There is nothing better. I thank you Malcolm.
Thank you for sharing. These are the moments are a real kindness. Gladness is amongst us all.
You remind me of my dear grandfather, good sir. He was very fond of H.P. Lovecraft's works and similar horror fictions, you would often find him in his library, sitting in his comfortable chair, smoking his pipe while reading said works. You've earned a subscriber, and thank you for bringing those wonderful memories back!
Dont quite know how I stumbled across your videos but I find them both intriguing and comforting. A 50 year old Canadian with Geordie immigrant parents, I have distant memories of visiting my grandparents in Blyth, in their humble two up two down by the sea and watching in awe as grandpa Jack smoked his pipe, showed us his war medals and played us old Aker Bilk vinyls. Then we took a ride in the old VW Beetle to the chip shop for saveloy and haddock and finished our meals off newspaper with a 99 cone from the cornershop. A simple life seems so much better.
Thanks, I know Blyth and your description is very evocative!
Lovely comment. I agree with your last sentence. A Brit living (reluctantly) in Canada.
My grandpa died before I was born, I love lord of the rings, I am listening to you read Tolkien, as I imagine he would. Thank you for your channel and all that you do!

Many people my age 29 are getting into pipes. When I started I told my d&d group about it. Two of my players have pipes. Then I told one of my employees about it. He also smokes pipes and gave me tons of tips. Then I bought another friend his first pipe and he uses it to be able to focus and give up adhd medication.
