    I had a Peterson crack on me where the stem met the briar. I mailed it to the factory in Ireland and asked them to let me know, via email, how much the repair would be. Two weeks later I received a box from Dublin containing a brand new pipe and a hand written letter, apologizing for the defect. Needless to say I will only buy Peterson's from now on.

      Reminds me of a Rolls Royce story. A gentleman had driven his Silver Wraith to Italy and suffered a broken axle. Rolls Royce flew out two engineers with a new axle. The gentleman never received a bill or invoice, so he telephoned the factory. The manager answered the phone: "Sir, you must be mistaken. Rolls Royce axles do not break".

      @Ronove let people be themselves. I'm sorry about your parents but that was their choice. We all make our own choices and are free to do so without a preacher condemning us for feeling differently.

      @Ronove umm bowel and stomack cancer from smoking a pipe? I don't think you understand how any of this works. Just because you associate the words cancer and smoking, doesn't mean the two were related in that case. Actually they most likely weren't.

    • @dimitrijekrstic7567
      @dimitrijekrstic7567 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @Ronove nah, you might be implying that cancer can spread, but to spread it has to start somewhere, and if it started in his stomack (by the way what the hell is stomack cancer, since when is stomack an organ?), then it wasn't related to smoking. Because for it to be related to smoking a pipe, it would have to originate from the mouth, or if he was inhaling, which is highly uncommon in pipe smokers, then it could've come from his lungs. But either way, it has to come from his lungs or mouth, it can't start in his stomack and be related to smoking. Sorry, but that's the way it works. Elaborate if you still think something I said was wrong.

    • @megandrake7548
      @megandrake7548 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Ronove My dad was a pipe smoker for many years. He had to have a number of ops to clear blocked salivary glands caused by the pipe, and then he eventually developed cancerous cells on the roof of his mouth. Thank God that was enough to get him to finally give up his pipe. Fact - Tabacco causes cancer. it should be banned altogether.

    Don't be fooled by the luxurious image of the video because Peterson pipes are actually one of the most affordable and reliable pipes out there :) Been a Peterson smoker for a decade now, and I couldn't be happier with anything else. In this day and age when almost every other consumer products seem to become more expensive yet less reliable, Peterson has been truly a treasure for the enthusiasts around the world.

    I attempted to purchased a Peterson from a tobacconists when I was 23. He said he couldn’t order one for me. No doubt because I had long hair at the time and thought I might smoke something illegal in it. I went to another who had a very nice one in stock. I bought it and returned to the first shop, pipe in hand. There I asked for a tin of Erinmore Flake, paid for it and lit up my new pipe right there in his store. At 70, I no longer smoke. But I still have my Peterson.

    I bought my first Peterson pipe in the 1960s. It started my collection and I still have it. I was lucky enough to know one of the managers when the company factory was in Sallynoggin not far from my home. He gave me a tour of the factory and I watched pipes being made from beginning to finished product. The repairs department was fascinating. They restored any pipe that was sent in and not just Peterson pipes. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the building of craftsmen at work. This wonderful video gives just a taste of what I saw in the hours I spent there. I will never forget that visit.

    I love videos that extol the virtues of craftsmanship. This reminds me of a feature length documentary about the Steinway piano company. In it, as in this, they praise the workers who are experts and artists at their step of the process. The amount of love and dedication that companies like this get from their workers serves as an example. Watching a craftsman plying his trade is a form of meditation. Thank you for this presentation!

In these days of social-political decay across the world, what comfort in quietly puffing away on a favourite pipe and chosen baccy [aided by a glass of Canadian Club Whisky/Canada dry, a quality book/newspaper-and perhaps some Bach helping to provide a little peace]].

When he finally lit up he puffed on it for no more than a minute, and then the whole process started over.

    Bravo! My only quibble is with the idea of perfection, because there's no such thing. If a human being made it, it's by definition imperfect. Imperfection is the hallmark of humanity... it's what distinguishes us from machines. It's the imperfections that make something unique.

    Peterson was my 1st choice, then switched to Savinelli then back to Peterson. A rich short documentary of the time honored craftsmanship in turning a plain block of Brier into a family heirloom passed down from granddad to son to grandson. That's a fine presentation. Thank's !

      I have various Peterson and Savinelli pipes. For a cool smoke Savinelli for a dry smoke Peterson.But I hate drying out and cleaning the Peterson system spit trap.Peterson is quality, Savinelli excellent quality.

    This just reminded me- I have a Peterson pipe which I bought - and treasured - when I smoked back in the 70s...but when this video came up in my feed this evening I thought that it was about a maker of uilleann pipes...

    I also am a pipe maker, except I carve mine out of stone. Really enjoyed your video I never thought about soaking the stems in water to bend them fantastic idea. To make a great pipe you're right it has to be a master of love. This may sound silly but the stone tells you what it wants to be I have to wait for the stone to talk to me. The problem I have is there so many wonderful stones to carve their so beautiful I have a hard time parting with them .

    I just bought my first Briar Pipe today... a K&P Peterson 314. It was at the local smoke shop in Powell River BC. Cost me $150, and I couldn't be happier. I saw it (amongst others) and did some research on them. The moment I learned the company was Irish I went and paid for it, then bought s bottle of Jameson... I'm half in the bag as I write this... 🥃

    I've had one for almost 14 years, a no. 10. The shop owner told me he had it since 1984. I have always wondered what kind of wood it is. It still looks like the day I bought it. I was told this pipe could possibly outlive my grandkids. I smoke t.c.'s best, cavandish .

    As a pipe smoker I had to have a Peterson. I was fortunate to get an older unsmoked 313 with beautiful grain. It looked great but smoked hot regardless of how gently I sipped at it. The famous P lip is a good idea on paper but strangely unsatisfying in the mouth. As much as I like my Peterson it is one of my lesser smoked pipes as I much prefer a thick bowled Polinski for a truly cool relaxing smoke. Of course we are all different and this is only my experience of this world reknown pipe.
