I think what bothered me most is if the crusaders switched groups with Kakyoin, Jotaro, and Joseph facing against Cream, they would have easily dealt with him. I believe they would have gotten out without anyone dying (maybe kakyoin because you know, shonen)

I like to think that in some way Cameo's wish granting actually made it happen. Like because it was a possibility that the bullet grazed his head, that possibility became a reality when it was wished and everything was retconned so he didn't really die.
If I had to guess why he’d say that... It’d probably be because if the chance ever came and Avdol was in danger, they wouldn’t risk their lives for him. What a team player.
I appreciated it a lot. I don't often get to feel the feeling of absolute disbelief and denial from anime. This death really taught me that no one is protected by plot armor and can be wiped at any time even the Jojos aren't exempted for dying since part one established the rule as well. Although Joseph got to cheat it at the end of this part and still believe Jotaro is gonna die in a later part as well as Josuke. Also anime dub only guy so no one need confirm or deny if this happens please.

Yep. Everyone reacts to trauma differently. I'd say piggy handled it better because war trauma in real life will have people looking for their blown off arm like they dont even realize it cant be put back on magically and they're bleeding out so if they dont get killed because their tunnel vision is fixed solely on finding it theyll drop dead soon after the adrenaline wears off. Iggy was at least aware of how grave and sudden the situation was. Be was in shock just because he knew how dangerous the situation was instead of being in denial.
People think Abdul/Avdol dying like this was cheap, but I think it actually showcased his personality well. He died like a hero, protecting his friends from certain death.
And he also turned out to be the irresponsible one. Polnareff back in India didn't listen to Avdol's advice. Then Avdol didn't listen to Joseph Joestar's advice a month and a couple days later after the India incident. Don't get me wrong, it was noble for him to do that but if he was scared to die as it was shown in his facial expression, why didn't he take Mr. Joestar's advice?? I swear we would of seen a cameo of Avdol on Diamond Is Unbreakable if he would of listened. Just saying.
props to Polnareff's voice actor, he never disappoints, the way he screams (1:16) in absolute despair for Avdol, his voice and acting are just as impressive as how perfectly written character Polnareff is.
his death was so sudden that even i didn’t believe that he was dead. no flashbacks, no resistance, no crying on someone’s shoulder with some last words. and i loved that.
This actually made me cry. Damnit. Polnareff's reaction, Iggy can't even breathe. And, the music, the way he died, possibly saving his other 2 friends from death. This got me in tears for 13 minutes straight. I actually felt really sad. Didn't think he was actually gonna die.
It was lazy writing, they should have had him just stay dead or paralyzed.. What was the point of killing him once, and then bringing him back, and then missing a huge chunk of episodes towards the end only to be killed off again instantly. Kakyouin and Avdol deserved better, but he used the same plot device as in season 2 (Ceasar Zeppeli) for the shock value which just cheapens the ending.

NiteF0X not really both the deaths Avdol and Caesar are handled very well because it doesn’t follow the trope of another character saying goodbye to them as they die. Death can happen at any moment and sometimes you don’t even have the chance to say goodbye, that’s what makes these deaths so well done.
The best deaths arent ones where the character goes all out, or ones that involve a flash back of their friendships, nor a final speech. Its a sudden end, one you never saw coming. Avdol’s death gives the viewer literally no time to think, but it also gives them time to realize that Avdol was a fairly strong Stand user. Even if he didnt have the most screentime, he definetly was a great guy who looked out for his friends best he could.
For me this scene is one of the saddest death in JJBA just by the fact that when Polnareff is looking for Avdol you can really see and hear the denial and despair on Polnareff voice and on his face. The screen shaking when Polnareff is searching for Avdol also increase the tension in this scene.
Once again, this is a case where Avdol is taken out for a battle where his stand would be a massive help. His flames would help make Vanilla Ice visible while inside the dimensional rift and Vampires don't heal from fire very well.

I honestly think that this type of sudden and unceremonious death scene make the tension skyrocket and makes you think about the scene even more than traditional death it gives this vibe of "no one is safe" its like if araki just broke the plot armor with a sledgehammer in one hit making you question who will survive or even if they are going to succeed
abdelslash hack It's a sad fate really, and a grim reminder that not everyone can have a final farewell. Avdol was taken from us in the blink of an eye, and even though he said he wasn't going to help either Iggy or Polnereif, he still shoves them both out of the way. He was a real friend.
I love how the whole gang gets back together, they find where Dio's hideout is and they all walk in there to kick Dio's ass. Then one of them gets flat out murdered instantly.
Man Avdul's death hit me the hardest. Was thrilled to see him coming back after his perceived death. Then he dies again and for real this time. Edit: And the same happened to Kakyoin didn't it? He was gone for a time. Not because of death, but because of his eye injury , came back again , only to die.
I personally think Avdol had one of the saddest deaths. Not only was he one of my favorite characters; it was also heartbreaking to see him do the one thing he promised he wasn't going to do. Araki did an excellent job of showing how quickly someone can 'dissappear' even if they didnt seem important or intresting. (Same with Shigechi's death)
I was so relieved when he came back, just to die again. Same in the anime, I was so used to having him around. The first death is less emotional but the second one, 🥺.

While I don't enjoy the idea often of a character faking a death to come back later, I think it works well for part 3 for these (personal) reason: 1. While we may be used to it, and it's an overused trope at this time, Jojo part 3 was written in the late 1980s - just over 30 years ago. 2. After a first fake death that was emotional, the second death came all of a sudden and out of nowhere. Unceremoniously just gone. Personally when I watched part 3 for the first time I thought "no way he's dead", as well as the wording of Vanilla ice slightly messed with my hope he was still alive. V.I. said that his mouth leads to a dimension of darkness, and he did say he was disintegrated, Ice also didn't know where the void led to. So I had the idea that perhaps avdol would figure out a way to attack from within Ice - that would be interesting as generally fire > ice. But then once his and Iggy's soul appeared together at the end of it all, idk, that killed all hope he was still alive. So while I hated it, I also enjoyed it
Ironically, by bringing Avdol back, it allowed Araki to make Vanilla Ice that much more imposing as he instantly kills Avdol, and then Iggy dies in the ensuing fight, with Polnareff getting his ass kicked.
I love the small detail of iggy freaking out way more than polnarref. Cream destroyed both avdol, and the air around him. Iggy must have noticed his scent vanishing as well. He didnt have the luxury of denial.

It came out of nowhere there was no suspence no flashback no final words of wisdom i felt like polnareff in this situation I refused to believe that he died because it was so sudden and fast it made a lasting effect on me because the mourning didn’t feel forced it was fast and efficient it always made me think “what about avdol? He can’t be dead no..no no no” and “are you guys gonna remember avdol?”
His death in OVA is way worse. First he gets Nukesaku treatment by being beaten by Dio and put in the coffin. And when Polnareff wants to help Avdol, VI comes and as it was about to consume Pol, Avdol pushes him and gets consumed.
The animation style of shaking Polnareff and Iggy's faces is absolutely amazing and gives a sense of immense pressure that the gang hadn't faced against any villian yet. For such an important character to die in an instant is absolutely devastating.

Oh god, this must be the most horrible death scene in the whole anime (including PB, BT and DiU). The silence and quietness are suddenly broken, but they don't even know what's happening. Avdol dies with no chance of final words, of a last though. He's just killed instantly. At least Iggy and Kakyoin's corpses are ok, so they can bury them and give them the adecuate treatment, but none of that could be for Avdol. And the atmosphere... oh god. Avdol suddenly dissappears, and both Polnareff and Iggy don't know what happens, where did he go, what's attacking them, why nobody detected him. Vanilla Ice appears as a terrible evil, thay they cannot hurt or see, while Polnareff refuses to believe that Avdol is forever gone, and Iggy doesn't know what to do, except to heavily breath. Amazing.
Really loved his character. Having this wise, folky maturity about the group, tempering the young and abrasive characters of the party (barring Joseph). I know the way in which he died might have bothered people, but honestly, the fact that it happened the way it happened just shows that they really were in constant mortal danger. I appreciate a series that doesn't always keep characters behind plot shields, so long as you were able to get used to and enjoy the characters beforehand.
But he was the only black character on the team... Plus he got "killed" once, brought back, then killed because the writers used Avdol to be Polnareff's character developer

Also, I'm not pleased that any ONE of them died; I liked all the characters, so I'm not happy that 3 had to fall. But it just seems that in anime, black people sometimes get the short end of the stick - and Jojo did the same. Now having your favorite characters in anime getting killed is never good, or fun; but if the writers were just going to kill Avdol near the end, then there was no need to write him out of the next few episodes only to make around a 5 episode comeback.... Same thing with Kakyoin, too. I mean damn

It's often said that when a loved one dies when you are around them, it can take a while for the reality of their absence to sink in, because we still see their body there, as if nothing really changed. Imagine how hard it must be for Polneref? One second, your friend is behind you, the next, he's gone with almost no trace. Even when he knows he's gone, emotionally, it's going to take a looongg time for it to actually make intuitive sense to him. So fucked up.
It's a wonderful thing to me. I've given the fuuuck up on anime like DragonBall just because I never really feel like the protagonists are ever in any real danger.. like ever.
And Araki fucks this up with Diamond is not crash with all the main protagonist surviving in an ultimate shitty happy ending. I'm so fucking happy he came to his senses with part 5.

Everybody's talking about Avdol and Polnareff, but nobody talking about how Iggy was straight up going into shock.
Rightly so. Because, as a dog, Iggy should be able to pick up on anyone's scent from a mile away, but even *He* wasn't able to figure what was going on until it was far too late.
He was about as terrified as Polnareff. And yet, when the time came, he gave his life for his friend.

I'd say piggy handled it better because war trauma in real life will have people looking for their blown off arm like they dont even realize it cant be put back on magically and they're bleeding out so if they dont get killed because their tunnel vision is fixed solely on finding it theyll drop dead soon after the adrenaline wears off.
Iggy was at least aware of how grave and sudden the situation was. Be was in shock just because he knew how dangerous the situation was instead of being in denial.

People think Abdul/Avdol dying like this was cheap, but I think it actually showcased his personality well. He died like a hero, protecting his friends from certain death.

And he also turned out to be the irresponsible one. Polnareff back in India didn't listen to Avdol's advice. Then Avdol didn't listen to Joseph Joestar's advice a month and a couple days later after the India incident. Don't get me wrong, it was noble for him to do that but if he was scared to die as it was shown in his facial expression, why didn't he take Mr. Joestar's advice?? I swear we would of seen a cameo of Avdol on Diamond Is Unbreakable if he would of listened. Just saying.
And it also emphasizes of big of a threat Vanilla Ice is.

well caesar died because he was stubborn, and he really wasn't developed a lot, and shigechi wasn't exactly popular.
This actually made me cry. Damnit. Polnareff's reaction, Iggy can't even breathe. And, the music, the way he died, possibly saving his other 2 friends from death. This got me in tears for 13 minutes straight. I actually felt really sad. Didn't think he was actually gonna die.
Everytime i see this i always feel like Avdol's death was just unfair...
It was lazy writing, they should have had him just stay dead or paralyzed.. What was the point of killing him once, and then bringing him back, and then missing a huge chunk of episodes towards the end only to be killed off again instantly. Kakyouin and Avdol deserved better, but he used the same plot device as in season 2 (Ceasar Zeppeli) for the shock value which just cheapens the ending.

Death can happen at any moment and sometimes you don’t even have the chance to say goodbye, that’s what makes these deaths so well done.

The best deaths arent ones where the character goes all out, or ones that involve a flash back of their friendships, nor a final speech.
Its a sudden end, one you never saw coming.
Avdol’s death gives the viewer literally no time to think, but it also gives them time to realize that Avdol was a fairly strong Stand user. Even if he didnt have the most screentime, he definetly was a great guy who looked out for his friends best he could.

For me this scene is one of the saddest death in JJBA just by the fact that when Polnareff is looking for Avdol you can really see and hear the denial and despair on Polnareff voice and on his face.
The screen shaking when Polnareff is searching for Avdol also increase the tension in this scene.

I personally think Avdol had one of the saddest deaths. Not only was he one of my favorite characters; it was also heartbreaking to see him do the one thing he promised he wasn't going to do. Araki did an excellent job of showing how quickly someone can 'dissappear' even if they didnt seem important or intresting. (Same with Shigechi's death)
I was so relieved when he came back, just to die again. Same in the anime, I was so used to having him around. The first death is less emotional but the second one, 🥺.
What makes Shigechi's death even sadder is that his last thoughts were of his parents.

While I don't enjoy the idea often of a character faking a death to come back later, I think it works well for part 3 for these (personal) reason:
1. While we may be used to it, and it's an overused trope at this time, Jojo part 3 was written in the late 1980s - just over 30 years ago.
2. After a first fake death that was emotional, the second death came all of a sudden and out of nowhere. Unceremoniously just gone.
Personally when I watched part 3 for the first time I thought "no way he's dead", as well as the wording of Vanilla ice slightly messed with my hope he was still alive. V.I. said that his mouth leads to a dimension of darkness, and he did say he was disintegrated, Ice also didn't know where the void led to.
So I had the idea that perhaps avdol would figure out a way to attack from within Ice - that would be interesting as generally fire > ice.
But then once his and Iggy's soul appeared together at the end of it all, idk, that killed all hope he was still alive.
So while I hated it, I also enjoyed it

But storywise, I like that it was a wtf moment . Really talks about how death is unexpecting and creeps on you when your not looking. RIP avdol..you're still missed by many.

It came out of nowhere there was no suspence no flashback no final words of wisdom i felt like polnareff in this situation I refused to believe that he died because it was so sudden and fast it made a lasting effect on me because the mourning didn’t feel forced it was fast and efficient it always made me think “what about avdol? He can’t be dead no..no no no” and “are you guys gonna remember avdol?”
His death in OVA is way worse. First he gets Nukesaku treatment by being beaten by Dio and put in the coffin. And when Polnareff wants to help Avdol, VI comes and as it was about to consume Pol, Avdol pushes him and gets consumed.
The animation style of shaking Polnareff and Iggy's faces is absolutely amazing and gives a sense of immense pressure that the gang hadn't faced against any villian yet. For such an important character to die in an instant is absolutely devastating.

Oh god, this must be the most horrible death scene in the whole anime (including PB, BT and DiU).
The silence and quietness are suddenly broken, but they don't even know what's happening. Avdol dies with no chance of final words, of a last though. He's just killed instantly. At least Iggy and Kakyoin's corpses are ok, so they can bury them and give them the adecuate treatment, but none of that could be for Avdol. And the atmosphere... oh god. Avdol suddenly dissappears, and both Polnareff and Iggy don't know what happens, where did he go, what's attacking them, why nobody detected him. Vanilla Ice appears as a terrible evil, thay they cannot hurt or see, while Polnareff refuses to believe that Avdol is forever gone, and Iggy doesn't know what to do, except to heavily breath.

Really loved his character. Having this wise, folky maturity about the group, tempering the young and abrasive characters of the party (barring Joseph).
I know the way in which he died might have bothered people, but honestly, the fact that it happened the way it happened just shows that they really were in constant mortal danger. I appreciate a series that doesn't always keep characters behind plot shields, so long as you were able to get used to and enjoy the characters beforehand.
But he was the only black character on the team... Plus he got "killed" once, brought back, then killed because the writers used Avdol to be Polnareff's character developer

And Avdol did two things in Stardust Crusaders besides dying twice: 1) He beat Polnareff during the first season, and 2) He helped Polnareff beat the Judgement stand.
Also, I'm not pleased that any ONE of them died; I liked all the characters, so I'm not happy that 3 had to fall. But it just seems that in anime, black people sometimes get the short end of the stick - and Jojo did the same.
Now having your favorite characters in anime getting killed is never good, or fun; but if the writers were just going to kill Avdol near the end, then there was no need to write him out of the next few episodes only to make around a 5 episode comeback.... Same thing with Kakyoin, too. I mean damn

It's often said that when a loved one dies when you are around them, it can take a while for the reality of their absence to sink in, because we still see their body there, as if nothing really changed. Imagine how hard it must be for Polneref? One second, your friend is behind you, the next, he's gone with almost no trace. Even when he knows he's gone, emotionally, it's going to take a looongg time for it to actually make intuitive sense to him. So fucked up.

maul literally gets a 2-3 second fight.....then thats it. Literally if you count it was 2 seconds if i remember correctly.
