    Polnareff just completely goes from a none-too-bright comic relief character to a STONE-COLD KILLER.

    • @euanrouch3050
      @euanrouch3050 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1488

      He managed to kill J. Geil for killing his sister, Sherry a while back by turning him into a human pincushion. Plus, there was that time he tried to kill Jotaro and company in Singapore, so Polnareff was always able to kill with his Chariot.

      I think he’s so skilled as a fighter and laid back enough as a person that he doesn’t feel the need to try a lot of the time. But when he does... well, we just saw what happens.

    I really love how Polnareff, the most hot-headed and stubborn of the crusaders, was the one to provoke Ice into his own demise. Polnareff learned that unbridled rage without patience is a death sentence, and he used it against Vanilla Ice. Such a beautiful bookend to his revenge story.

      @Pillowcars I really liked how all the tarot cards have the values they would have. The hierophant has traits of uncovering secrets and solving memories. Emperor is supposed to lead the hanged man to death. The fool is actually supposed to be a secret card sort of with its number being 0 and iggy doesn't show till more than half way through star dust crusaders.

    A bit late but, I didn’t noticed this when I first watched it. Silver chariot was weakened when Polnareff was injured but after Iggy's death chariot was in perfect condition because Polnareff had steeled his mind and resolve, because stands are a manifestation of mental and soul energy, he steeled his resolve to kill vanilla ice after Iggy died saving him.

      @Connor_Kirkpatrick 3 ปีที่แล้ว +183

      To be fair, the gang in part 5 knew that they were going to be risking their lives by betraying the boss. Not Giorno, Mista, nor Trish had a reason to feel guilty. All of them knew what they were getting into, and made a deliberate choice to put their lives on the line. Polnareff, however, fully expected to die because Avdol said that he wouldn’t help him. Also, Polnareff was under the impression that Iggy couldn’t save him. He feels survivors guilt because he feels that he was unworthy of survival, which is not the case with Giorno and co.

    Out of all the characters in Stardust Crusaders, Polnareff had the most character development imo.
    This scene is proof of that. At first, he thought Iggy was nothing but a worthless dog, but then he realised how he truly felt. Then he went to the realization of a fact about himself.

      I think Jotaro had the best character development he was a punk in the beginning that really only cared about himself and his mom but after he spent time with the crusaders you can really see he changed but where that character development really shows is when Dio kills Joseph and drinks his blood

    I love how Jean-Pierre moving from a comic-relief to a tragic and touching character, this is the real strength of Araki: to make us love characters considered detestable and to transform people a little "absurd" into a true model of human inspiration. This is also why Jean-Pierre Polnareff is the best character in Stardust Crusaders, in my humble opinion.

    I will be honest, the remake gave this scene the proper justice it deserved. Iggy was unceremoniously killed off and Polenareff just poked holes in Vanilla Ice until he died. The remake made this scene so much more meaningful as it gave him a full character arc in one episode and nailed it to near perfection. This is the most satisfying and emotional fight in Part 3 imo. The way Polnareff calmly says "Go to Hell" and pushes Vanilla Ice into the sunlight is filled with such regret over his own survival. There was no joy in this victory. No retribution.
    The emptiness of this victory in Polnareff's heart mirrors the empty void in Cream's mouth.

      When he was fighting Avdol, he was fighting honorably, no cheap shots, he even explained his stand beforehand, which is notable because it's something that is just not done in Jojo, aside from Polnareff, NO ONE has explained their Stand beforehand since knowledge of their Stand would be tactically disadvantageous. He was even doing this while under actual mind control from Dio, he wasn't persuaded he had a literal parasite implanted in his skull and he STILL had honor. This is what happens when you piss off an honorable man.

    I like how the series plays by the rules of vampirism. Ice was pretty much defeated the moment he lost his leg. Unlike esidisi, there was no one nearby to steal limbs from and because he was new to being a vampire, he had no mind to use his body to scamper about until nightfall
    Polnareff may have lost a foot, but he still had his wits, the benefits of having a soul. It would give him countess ways to leverage the situation and exude pressure, boxing Ice in the same way Johnathan did to Dio

    2:45 The music that plays during this very moment is so fucking badass.
    It keeps a melody similar to that of knights and lancers, while giving a feel of pure rage and fury. How the strings rise as SC beats down VI more is the perfect symbol of the anger coming from Polnareff. The fight as a whole was (in my honest opinion,) better than Jotaro Vs DIO.
    Mainly because of how it's obvious Dios gonna loose, where here, it looks like Vanilla Ice gains the upper hand until Polnareff goes apeshit on him. The melody that symbolizes how pissed Polnareff is is the perfect rendition of Sweet Revenge.

    TFW when not counting Star Plantinum's evolution into a 'the world' type stand, that Polnareff just flat out had the best stand out of the crusaders. Yeah it wasn't as strong as Star Platinum and in a direct fight he couldn't win against it, but he was the only person able fast enough to not only kill a vampire with a normal stand, but also almost kill DIO with a normal stand, dude got a direct shot on his head and could've actually finished him if he had even a second longer to do what he did here to DIO.
    It just sucks that Polnareff has the worst luck and constantly goes up against opponents with abiltiies that are either not suited in his favour or against time manipulators who are by default the strongest type of stand out there and even then, he consistantly finds a way to at least put up resistance against them.

    not just because the overall atmosphere, visuals and place in the fight are perfect, but also because Polnareff is the one going through this, not Jotaro the protagonist. its not just an amazing display of character development but also but also shows how you can make characters well written, without them being forced into the protagonist role
