Despite Kakyoin dying, he managed to get the message to Joseph, who got it to Jotaro, and he distracted DIO while sending the message to Joseph at the same time, enabling Joseph to survive and relay the message to Jotaro, which lead to Jotaro discovering HE could stop time, which ultimately led to DIO's death. In a way, Kakyoin won that fight.
That was his main goal, after all. He never really made a huge effort to kill him. He used his Emerald Splash to surround him. It's kinda depressing. I think a part of him knew he would probably die reaching the truth as he planned it out.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the brilliant animation in the scenes from 3:12 to 3:22 and from 3:26 to 3:33? At 3:19 you can see kakyoin's eyes slightly twitching when he breathing heavily as his first attempt at an emerald splash fails. That was REALLY well done imo. Also I noticed that during his final moments, kakyoin grows this aura around him that is similar to dio's aura that he has throughout the arc and jotaro's aura that he has when he can stop time near the end.
What makes me mad is that in the end of part 4, okuyasa legit died and went "I don't feel like it" so he came back to life. Meanwhile Avdol, Kakyoin, Bruno, Abbacchio, Narancia, and half of the JoJo plot: 😐
5. Stroheim (Stalingrad... yeah...) 6. Speedwagon (even though he died somewhat naturally) 7. Erina (same as speedwagon) 8. You know, I think Kakyoin’s anime death might have be one of my favourite deaths in anime, the way David’s production handled it was great and my favourite part was when the narrator announced he was dead with the music, reminded me of like news caster reporting a tragedy with a very solemn tone, really adds weight to the scene.
3:21 is the most powerfull moment. Kakyoin is completly weakend but hearing dio saying that he will kil joseph gives him the last neceseary strenght. Briliant display of power of love, friendship and compashion.

When Avdol and Iggy died, I felt pretty sad since I liked both of them. Kakyoin's death hit me on a differnt level since it felt like a best friend of mine's just died. Well part 3 felt like a journey with my friends
This death hit me the hardest in any piece of fiction, and i never knew why. Until i realized how much of myself i see in kakyoin. It was almost like i was watching myself die.

You can compare Kakyoin’s death to Caesar’s death. They both don’t stop to think about how they can help their side to of the conflict. Caesar was thinking about Joseph’s poison, and Kakyoin was thinking about DIO’s stand ability. Both ended up saving their comrades, and never giving up till the end. Both died fighting for a cause, that was carried out. Both died with pure trust in the people they were on the side of.
I don't think there's shit Crazy Diamond could've done for any death except for Iggy. It restructures and restores what's already there. Kakyoin just had a hole in his torso and most of Avdol's body straight up vanished

"i wonder what my parents are doing" BRUH that's something you'd hear in a completely normal non bizzare setting like a school or a friend's house, and kakyoin saying it hear was almost a reminder that, well, he _has_ parents and he didn't even say goodbye and went on this life threatening adventure for this group of dudes he just met. I really do wonder what his parents were thinking that moment.
The amount of tears that I let out at this moment was astonishing. I really liked Kakyoin, and thinking that he lived 17 years being lonely, and then finding friendship, but for only 50 days before getting killed. It still hurts, and that line "My final emerald splash" literally grasped my hear
I dont care what anybody say, the speedwagon foundation collected Kakyoins body and Joseph and Jotaro took his body back to his parents and explained to them that their son died saving the world and they all buried him with all the honours of a star dust crusader. His memory then became a comfort to all of them in dark times.
it’s sad to realize kakyoin was infected and wasn’t himself, his parents don’t know what happened to him because he just ran away from home, they don’t know that he’s dead, kakyoin finally met people who related to him and he could befriend, all for that to end over DIO
Well, in a way, he died happy. He died for a cause that he strongly believed in and he died having made friends who were like him. He was always alone prior to the trip and he got to meet people who understood him.

Even in the eye of death, Kakyoin still managed to send Joseph a message about Dio's stand. By breaking the hands on the clock, he was showing Joseph that Dio has the ability to stop time. I find I super sad to see Kakyoin die, but I find it super impressive that even when he knew he was dying, he was still able to manage leaving a message for Joseph to see
It's kinda sad that his parents didn't even knew what the hell happened to him, he just ran away for almost 2 months with complete strangers to save another stranger's life and died at the age of 17 in the other side of the world, though it could be said that Dio would've won and become the dark master of the planet if it wasn't for his sacrifice, but still.
His death is sad by itself, but even more sad once you realize what his parents went through. Imagine, he just doesn't show up at home one day, and a couple months later you receive news that he died a violent death far away from home in Egypt. Kakyoin showed that he didn't really love or show affection for his parents in his life, but they *did* love him.

He just felt so much anger at DIO using him as a puppet to carry out misdeeds overrode the thought of what would happen to his parents if he was hurt on the journey to destroy DIO. Given that they know what kind of person Kakyoin is, they'd at the very least understand that their son died fighting for his friends and his code.
out of all the animes i've ever watched in my entire life, no scene has ever been more sad than this, often even thinking about kakyoin's death makes me cry, last train home and goodbye nostalgia are my favorite songs ever, i wish kakyoin could have lived, i wish he could have been in part 4, ive cried more over kakyoin's death than any other death/sad moments from all animes combined, i just feel so miserable when i think of his death, its been a really really long time since i first watched jojo, and ive still never gotten over this

Caesars death kinda prepared him for this imo, because when Caesar died Joseph could not (understandably ofc) control his emotions and he had to stop, even though his and Lisa Lisa's life were in immediate danger, to grieve which in Dios situation would've caused his immediate death
I legitimately think this is the greatest scene in all of JoJo. Throughout this part, you find yourself thinking, Kakyoin doesn't talk all that much. We usually are shown what he is thinking instead. We don't know much about him. Why don't they use this cool character? And then, in this episode, it all comes together. Kakyoin's history is revealed, and you realize that all of those pieces fit together and are consistent throughout the whole part- he has never in his life felt so close to others. Never has anything meant this much to him. He has a cause all of his heart is ready to die for. The fact that the scene is so well done, that Kakyoin figures out DIO's ability almost exactly when the viewer does- this power that has been built up for 45 episodes- and it's as terrifying as anyone could imagine. There he lays, dying, as we once more glimpse into his mind, and see his thoughts. It's clear he is finished. He knows he is dying. There is nothing left to spend, no more tricks up Hierophant's sleeve. Kakyoin has always relied on trapping his opponents, and now, the only tool he has left is his Emerald Splash. Something that on its own is not much use. Yet, with his final breaths, he finds a way to tell Joseph. He finds a way to do what he said he would, which was to reveal DIO's World. JoJo is all about this emotional roller coaster, and this scene is the absolute peak of heart wrenching and mindfucking. Kakyoin is the single most underrated JoJo character, period.

See, someone in this situation would normally lose consciousness and die quietly or fall into sheer despair, but no... Kakyoin kept thinking of a way to help his friends, even if it cost his own life, even if he is practically a child and even without being able to say one last goodbye to your parents... Kakyoin is gentle, intelligent and very mature for his age, but ended being a "superficial" character

You can compare Kakyoin’s death to Caesar’s death. They both don’t stop to think about how they can help their side to of the conflict. Caesar was thinking about Joseph’s poison, and Kakyoin was thinking about DIO’s stand ability. Both ended up saving their comrades, and never giving up till the end. Both died fighting for a cause, that was carried out. Both died with pure trust in the people they were on the side of.

I don't think there's shit Crazy Diamond could've done for any death except for Iggy. It restructures and restores what's already there. Kakyoin just had a hole in his torso and most of Avdol's body straight up vanished
Cloneman2827 crazy diamond was able to fix okuyasu after he had a chunk of his torso missing. He’d be able to fix Kakyoin.

I dont care what anybody say, the speedwagon foundation collected Kakyoins body and Joseph and Jotaro took his body back to his parents and explained to them that their son died saving the world and they all buried him with all the honours of a star dust crusader. His memory then became a comfort to all of them in dark times.
I learned that you can't get attached to anyone in this show but I loved kakyoin too much. Dx DAMMIT

Well, in a way, he died happy. He died for a cause that he strongly believed in and he died having made friends who were like him. He was always alone prior to the trip and he got to meet people who understood him.

Even in the eye of death, Kakyoin still managed to send Joseph a message about Dio's stand. By breaking the hands on the clock, he was showing Joseph that Dio has the ability to stop time. I find I super sad to see Kakyoin die, but I find it super impressive that even when he knew he was dying, he was still able to manage leaving a message for Joseph to see

It's kinda sad that his parents didn't even knew what the hell happened to him, he just ran away for almost 2 months with complete strangers to save another stranger's life and died at the age of 17 in the other side of the world, though it could be said that Dio would've won and become the dark master of the planet if it wasn't for his sacrifice, but still.
His death is sad by itself, but even more sad once you realize what his parents went through.
Imagine, he just doesn't show up at home one day, and a couple months later you receive news that he died a violent death far away from home in Egypt.
Kakyoin showed that he didn't really love or show affection for his parents in his life, but they *did* love him.

He just felt so much anger at DIO using him as a puppet to carry out misdeeds overrode the thought of what would happen to his parents if he was hurt on the journey to destroy DIO. Given that they know what kind of person Kakyoin is, they'd at the very least understand that their son died fighting for his friends and his code.

out of all the animes i've ever watched in my entire life, no scene has ever been more sad than this, often even thinking about kakyoin's death makes me cry, last train home and goodbye nostalgia are my favorite songs ever, i wish kakyoin could have lived, i wish he could have been in part 4, ive cried more over kakyoin's death than any other death/sad moments from all animes combined, i just feel so miserable when i think of his death, its been a really really long time since i first watched jojo, and ive still never gotten over this

Kakyoin was lonely most of his life because nobody can see his stand and when he finally meets them he dies after is heart crushingly sad
Hearing Joseph saying "Kakyoin" at the end, forcing himself not to cry was the scene that made me lose it.
Caesars death kinda prepared him for this imo, because when Caesar died Joseph could not (understandably ofc) control his emotions and he had to stop, even though his and Lisa Lisa's life were in immediate danger, to grieve which in Dios situation would've caused his immediate death
I legitimately think this is the greatest scene in all of JoJo. Throughout this part, you find yourself thinking, Kakyoin doesn't talk all that much. We usually are shown what he is thinking instead. We don't know much about him. Why don't they use this cool character? And then, in this episode, it all comes together. Kakyoin's history is revealed, and you realize that all of those pieces fit together and are consistent throughout the whole part- he has never in his life felt so close to others. Never has anything meant this much to him. He has a cause all of his heart is ready to die for. The fact that the scene is so well done, that Kakyoin figures out DIO's ability almost exactly when the viewer does- this power that has been built up for 45 episodes- and it's as terrifying as anyone could imagine. There he lays, dying, as we once more glimpse into his mind, and see his thoughts. It's clear he is finished. He knows he is dying. There is nothing left to spend, no more tricks up Hierophant's sleeve. Kakyoin has always relied on trapping his opponents, and now, the only tool he has left is his Emerald Splash. Something that on its own is not much use. Yet, with his final breaths, he finds a way to tell Joseph. He finds a way to do what he said he would, which was to reveal DIO's World. JoJo is all about this emotional roller coaster, and this scene is the absolute peak of heart wrenching and mindfucking. Kakyoin is the single most underrated JoJo character, period.

See, someone in this situation would normally lose consciousness and die quietly or fall into sheer despair, but no... Kakyoin kept thinking of a way to help his friends, even if it cost his own life, even if he is practically a child and even without being able to say one last goodbye to your parents...
Kakyoin is gentle, intelligent and very mature for his age, but ended being a "superficial" character
