    Thanks for sharing and doing the video, Joe. Helped me make my decision. For me, clearance is way more important than 0-60 time on my Talon. I have other machinery for 0-60 thrills. Glad the 32's work well.

    Good to see a good, honest review about what actually happens when you go up 4" in tire size. So tired of all the fanboy talk about how they couldn't feel any difference when jumping up in tire size. Fortunately it sounds like the gearing is right in 1st and 2nd so you can get some good use out of those 32's. Hopefully the three of you guys can get together soon and do a comparison between all three rigs. I think all three have their own place in the market.

    I guess it really depends what you want them for. If you're looking to crawl or do some mud, the clearance from the 32's is nice. If you're purely after speed staying close to stock is better.

    As long as it works for you that’s the main thing. I feel like a big population of the UTV community just likes to stand around the drag strip and race their buddies. So of course to them 0-60 is everything. Looks really good with the bigger tires. You can always add the turbo later.

    • @DerangedOffRoad

      True that! The talons with turbo’s installed rip! I’d love to see a four seat R model with a turbo! -Joe

    Did you calibrate the speedo for the larger tires?
    Larger tires your 0 to 60 could be 0 to 70. I don't know exactly I do know there is a difference.

    I think sport mode is the way to drive the Talon all the time,except when one wants to paddle shift just for fun. Zero to 60 has so little to do with how I ride, but I definitely want to have mid range punch. I suspect your machine will get quite a bit better as it breaks in. You have so few miles that the engine is still really tight. Glad you like them-keep us updated! 👍😎

    I see already mentioned a few times, bigger tires throw your speedometer off. Every tire revolution you went further on the larger tires so you were going more than 60 mph so it didn't take as long as you thought. to get to 60.

    Did you have any rubbing issues?

    you have to flash the transmission's ecu... turbo kit offers the mod/tune file.. it changes the shift timing.

    did you notice if your transmission shift points were at the same rpm between both tires?

    • @DerangedOffRoad
      @DerangedOffRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lower gears seemed normal, 3rd seemed like it came about the same and 4-6 felt/sounded like the revs dropped too low after the shift. To be honest, I set up a camera to monitor the speed at each shift point but for whatever reason, the footage disappeared... Either way, I’m sure it would’ve made a difference to have the transmission in sport mode rather than standard automatic. Hope that helps. -Joe

    To do the test the right way you need a radar gun. The 32 inch tires is probably tell the talon it's going 60. But it most likely actually speed is 63 or 65. Which means it will take longer to get up to speed. Showing it takes longer to get up to speed. Not sure if you use a radar gun. Just my thoughts.

    I’m thinking 30’s max. That’s way too much torque loss. Really afraid what I’d lose in the steep terrain where I live (NW Montana). Gotta be able to climb steep. Then again, you could just pop in the Jackson Racing Turbo and be right where you want to be.

    There's a formula that should have accurately projected a "zero to sixty" time when you changed the gear ratio (which is effectively what you did when changing tire diameter), but I really don't think that is a meaningful performance figure for most. The bigger tires do so much for the vehicle in other ways that they are almost always a desirable mod. I have always wondered why most manufacturers don't offer larger DOT tires/wheels as a factory option.

I dont mind as I also drive in the AZ desert rocky some times steep terrain. If you're going to re-test your 0-60 times, you should probably use a Draggy or at the very least a GPS for the speed. 4" different in tires is going to throw your speedo off by quite a bit. Yes, the apparent gearing is going to be different, but so is the speedo.

      @@TheBandit7613 ummm, what is physically impossible? Cause I did 2 runs with each set of tires on it and got the same results....is it physically impossible for a precise GPS system that is designed to measure what it was designed to do? Or physically impossible for you to comprehend that 0.3 seconds less to do a quarter mile is actually getting there faster. Just curious

    • @TheBandit7613
      @TheBandit7613 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wolvie49er25 Let's talk about this. You have heavier tires that also change the final drive gearing. Tires are flywheels. Larger diameter and heavier tires will take more energy to get moving and to slow or stop. That's simple physics. So you are adding weight, and adding weight in the worst possible place. And you are claiming your machine is actually substantially faster?
      That's like magic. It violates the laws of physics
      Unless...
      You did something you didn't mention, like change the clutch weights, added more turbo boost, something that adds horsepower.
      Now then, If you install smaller, lighter tires, THEN the machine will be faster. less weight to get moving. Less energy required to turn.
      What are you not telling us? You had to do something else.

    • @wolvie49er25
      @wolvie49er25 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBandit7613 I'm all for discussion, I have not done any changes to my clutching yet, it is not a turbo so no boost change. I added a GGB exhaust a couple years ago but that's just a slip on muffler that with no tune or intake mods is just sound really. I didn't claim substantial gains, I claimed slight improvement. My 1/4 mile went from 17.10 sec on the 29s to 16.80 seconds on the 32s and my speed went from 70.51mph to 71.95 mph at the 1/4 mile mark. Your running under the assumption that the new tires are heavier, this is not the case. The new rims I purchased are lighter then the stock ones and the Carnivores are one of the lightest tires on the market so the diameter might have changed but the rotating weight has not. If there is no extra weight resistance then why would it affect performance. I'm not gonna lie, i thought I was going to lose some acceleration performance as well, but my Engineer buddy told me that it wouldn't because of all these factors and that I might see no difference to a slight uptick....and bet me on it. Needless to say, the slightly quicker quarter mile cost me a bottle of whiskey. In the end, the numbers don't lie. I have a slight improved 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile and speed at both those destinations. You can choose not to believe, but I have zero reason to lie. In the end I'll probably still do a clutch kit and see what kind of gains I get from that as well. Cheers good sir

    I think you missed an important consideration with your test. Did you use a hug gun or gps for speed or your speedo? If you relied on your speedometer for the 60 mph, then with the 32's you were actually going faster than 60. This would lead to the much slower times.
