I have a friend that just bought a new Talon. He has put thousands extra in it and we will all be heading the West Virginia in a couple months. Hope it works for him and he doesn’t have any issues. Oh, I just bought his 2022 RZR Pro XP from him 😊
The Talons are built great, not a superb suspension or ride, but love the belt-less operation. Sadly, had entirely too much electrical issues with Live Valve etc. The unit needed a bit of work, and at 68-70" she's too big for my NH and Maine trips planned...so new ride, and maybe I'll grab up a new model 1000X in the future without the LV. I know a lot of riders who have Talons for years and thousands of miles.
Im up here in the northeast so also limited to 64 inch machines. In a 19 yxz now that is for sale. Have put 10k miles on it. Been super reliable. Ready for something different. If we didnt have width limits a krx would more than likely replace it. At the moment an x3 seems like the most logical choice. Hard to beat the price of the ds turbo.
I had to replace my complete harness on my old wildcat sport, 800 for the harness and took me 9ish hrs to take it apart, clean it good, remove and replace the harness and put it all back together. I debated a Talon last year but went with a Can Am for alot of reasons but a big one was the width for the Pa trails.
If I wanted to hitch a cargo trailer to an under-weight limit UTV to haul camping gear and the combined weight would be well over this 1,800 lb. limit, would the Park Rangers deny me access or fine me if they didn't notice me until I returned? What about hunters who bring back game meat that puts them over the limit; is that a violation?
Yes, I just need to know the best location to ride from, hotel location where we can ride from, No RV to camp in at the moment. Welcome all suggestions!
The 2025 Yamaha 2025 YXZ1000R SS XT-R is listed as being 64.4 inches wide. Is that extra 0.4 inches going to be a problem accessing width-restricted trails?
From what I hear locally with people in PA, I have not seen issues with someone taking a tape measure out, but of course, if they have barriers or bollards out, it can be tight. I know the limits here in PA, 64" for whiskey springs and bloody skillet atv trails, they have some form of rock barriers placed at some entries, but theres usually a trail around as well. I am sure if you're caught with 68-72" or larger unit, you'll be ticketed. I have seen this happen rarely. Smaller parks will patrol (for example Michaux st Forest is 50" limit to trail sxs models, they actively monitor the lots during season for that as well as being properly registered and insured.)
I only have run into that issue in Lewis County, NY, some riders mentioned bridge limitations for weight max, smaller, I am guessing, but did not see it in person. Limited back roads with smaller one-lane bridges. Only place I have seen it or seen it be enforced.
Yeah, I had a razor with a three-year extended warranty and it did me jack when my front diff blew up, but I think it was just a crappy Polaris dealership from Belleville, New Jersey. You must really know your dealer if they’re greedy then you’ll never get stuff covered.
@@TheBeatenTrail naaa my friends rzr was just in at our dealership for 3 months waiting on parts and would of cost him 5 grand... but he had to rebuild the shocks live valve that costed him 2,700. dollars and both clutches that cost him 1,700. dollars 4 belts at 165.a pop less then 10,000 mile and over 10 grand to keep it running.....just saying
My 1000R fits on any trail I want on east coast. The Sthil ms311 mod helps a lot!

My brother and I went with Pro-XP's because of the 64" width and 1800lb limits that the state trails require.

I’m debating selling mine bc of the lack of power. It’s paid for and I’ve got it decked out so may just keep it and put a turbo on it

Just picked up an x4 that caught fire. Replaced the entire harness in about 8 hrs and paid roughly $600 from partzilla. Your soft.
Sounds like you need a YXZ, Rmax is a little more comfortable of a trail rig but is about 66” wide. They have huge rebates right now too.
