So much nicer than the older apartments! A few thoughts I had: 1) Vinyl ceilings? Do they last? 2) I really don't get the placement of the washing machine. Way too low on the wall and way too close to the toilet. 3) Bravo on the air conditioning! Too bad the rest of Europe doesn't get this.
Thank you :) 1) they lasts forever :) 2) This is the most convinient place for the washin machine in this apartment. not the best, but there was no option. 3) AC is a must have! they wark as coolers and heaters

He is 50 yrs old and without all this training it would be hard to find good work! My second oldest son is a Math teacher and drives a semi and does cement work on the weekend! My middle son just lost his restaurant to Cov restrictions and so he driving semi as well! My fourth son is a roofer and he had his own business but was so heavily regulated that he could not afford to keep it! It was sold to a Vietnamese family that were able to purchase it through Canada’s immigration program that gives them major financial help and if you hire immigrants the Government gives you tax breaks and helps pay wages! They hired my son to teach them the roofing business and he is their “ token Canadian “ ! They can only afford to hire immigrants! The workers like my son but he must take his lunch alone bc they do not like to eat with Canadians! They did hire a Black Muslim man who is very kind and has befriended my son! My son is Roman Catholic Métis! My youngest son of 5 sons is a rare breed as he is a proper stone Mason and bricklayer! He was taught by Italians and Portuguese and Irish people! Every apprentice was to work with 4 journeymen but he worked with 7 in Saskatchewan that uses more stone and brick than wood! This is much better for the environment! He also works with Red Pheasant First Nations to teach bricklaying and such! They are Cree and my son is Lakota and Irish! He brought 10 Irishmen from Dublin to help out and they get along so well with everyone! They sing and dance at work but on the weekends they drink and party! They are so loved here and have taught us a lot about Irish life! These people have known hardship! They do not complain! We have 1 Ulster Scott and he plays bagpipes and works like a dog! Lovely man and we tease him lots! He is a good man! We always say, “ How useful you are in a room determines your success!
Wow this is really nice design! I think you did a great job. Heated floors, the lighting in the living room/kitchen, the shower, and the wallpaper in the living room are my favourite parts.
You did a great job! The apartment looks attractive, comfortable and functional. I loved your waterfall feature in the shower and the removal of the walls separating the kitchen and living room made it look very inviting.
Can you hear noise from neighbors? I like the cloudy glass window on the bathroom door also. It visually opens up the space. Something you just don't see in NYC apartments.
Very well done, I bought a new construction three bedroom apartment in St. Petersburg in 2002, it looked almost identical to yours as far as the being an empty shell when I took over and started renovations. It was a few years in the making, and I can certainly appreciate all the hard work you did. We had ceilings which were panel and totally horribly constructed and not level and we had to drop the ceiling, and also use some of the floating plastic ceilings for other rooms. It came out very nice. We had to of course I install add doors, new windows radiators, lights, plumbing.
You did a great pal, Canada could use more people like you. I've worked with a few Russians over the years they're excellent hard working people and very appreciative of having a job, I wish more Canadians were like that!!

I love how you did your Parents Apartment. It is nicer than the old Russian dwellings. You are a very good son. You make your parents very proud, I'm sure. How much do the apartments cost as a shell?
I absolutely ♥️ that there is NO wallpapers❣️❣️ I hate wallpaper. I love the modern tile in the bathroom. Have you ever thought of making the toilet room, shower, and sink ONE room? And separating the clothes washer into a separate area? Absolutely beautiful job!
Actually there are walpapers everywhere :) I picked such designs that looks like paint. Walpapers are easier to apply than paint, you dont need to prepare the walls so well. toilet and shower is a good solution when you have enough space or you have +1 toilet. When you are limited in space having a separate toilet allow you to better organize it, like you have one more wall to put vanity for example. I have 15+ year of interior design expirience and made a lot of layouts so for this apartment and our needs we got the best solution :)
Very nice. I like heated floors and heated towel bars. We usually do not have such heated floors and towel drying racks. We are going in that direction hopefully in new construction. You have more kitchen room than we have in our home.
Big kitchens its kinda new trend, because it is also a dining room. In old construction kitchens are quite small. Just posted a new video about such a small kitchen 😁
I noticed this in America too, new apartments will have a kind of white and grey color scheme. I really like it, it looks very nice and clean and feels new which I like a lot! That brown/grey wood floor is all the rage now in new apartments!
I live in a one bedroom apartment, newer building in Pittsburgh and my kitchen is only half that size! This is very nice and I love that ceiling in your living room, thanks for the tour! 👍🙂
Thank you! Yes, in a modern buildings kitchens are quite big, coz it is also a dining room :) in old buildings like where we live now kitchen a really half the size.
I think it's true that is a nice size kitchen. I can't even tell if mine is bigger. Mine is open on both ends. The one where I grew up was open on both ends but one end had three different doors at that end, but it did have a pantry. So it had a pantry door and the door to the cellar / basement and also the back door to the house. they all ran into each other. But there wasn't really any kitchen in that part of it. It was just a corner. All my kitchens have been galley kitchens. I like them better and I didn't really get a choice in any of them so I am happy that I had That kind. I like to be able to stand in one place and reach everything. I like to have more counter space but my roommates keep putting stuff all over the counters. And there are always three of us going through the kitchen. When my brother moved in I told him since he owned his own refrigerator he had to bring it with him. My roommate and I already took up all the space in the refrigerator we had and we couldn't split it any further. So we have two big refrigerators. Side by side. One is in the kitchen and one is in the dining room. And there is the tiniest bit of doorway wall in between The two of them. And you always have to wait until someone is done in the refrigerator until you can get by, although you could go the other way. When I lived in Salem our kitchen only had one open end. Sometimes people would come over to have a potluck and there would be women in my kitchen. And I would line them up against the sink and the counter and they would be chopping and washing and rinsing and whatever and I could get five people in my kitchen as long as only one of them was moving back and forth. On the other side we just had countertop. Although we had to make it ourselves from pieces of cabinetry and a long long piece of wood that my friend made for us. I brought it with me to Florida in the moving van. I wasn't going to leave that behind. And my dishwasher. My odd gave me a portable dishwasher and I had never had one my family never had one. So I brought it with me cuz my mother didn't have one either. It takes up extra space in the kitchen but then again, more countertop. It's a little heavy to push around but at least I don't have to push it very far. I used to have to push it all the way to the dining room in my old apartment.
It looks great! To hear that the ceilings are vinyl is a bit of a shocker- never heard of that before… out of curiosity, why is the washing machine loaded from the toilet? It would seem more convenient to load from the bedroom since the wardrobe would be adjacent to it. I was also surprised not to see a balcony. Are newly constructed buildings in Russia not putting those in?
Vinyl ciellings are very popular in Russia. Abou the washing machine... we used to have it in bathrooms, because all of the wet stuff pipes, and so on, also we store all washing chemicals in there. Also load the washer from toilet makes better sound insulation, you can sleep while machine is working :)
Hi from Turkey!🤍 I love watching apartment tour videos from other countries and your apartment is great😍 We also use heating floors and towel drying racks, as well. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻😍♥️
Wow great apartment Tony, very nice. In my country we have this thing for towels which is also very quick. We call it buy 2 towels then always you have dry one 😆
Thats completele different interrior, and different feel. And usually along with vintage wallpapers comes vintage everything, mostly in really bad condition. So you would not miss that if you would live in it :)
Very nice appartment! You did a great job decorating. I love the shower. I've never seen a washing macjine in the toilet like you have it. In my country it's usually or in the bathroom, or in a part of the kitchen. We don't have towel drying racks but usually in the bathroom there's one and it's part of the heating system called a design radiator. Thanks for the tour!
Thank you! Yep, the towel drying rack in fact a design radiator, we just don't call it like that :) I plAced the washing machin in the toilet because there it fits well iside the wardrobe.
You did a great job!How lucky are your parents... To have a son who could do all of this for them Is the washer a combination washer..dryer...the you for sharing👏🤗 Blessings from US
How nice! Big, everything new and clean and beautiful! No we dont have heated towel racks or heated floors ( some newer homes might). Oh wow i would love to have that. Thank you for sharing! Oh my a vinyl ceiling, i have never seen that before. We did have the same floors and the older homes have radiator heating. Many older homes use oil heating which i think is very exspensive (not sure).
Heated floors and heated towel racks are common in the 🇺🇸 in houses not so much in standard Apts... heated towels racks are a easy purchase at department stores but washers and dryers are common in apartments and private homes so an electric towel rack isn't really necessary. You did an amazing job with the remodel. Question why is the toilet in a separate room than the sink and shower? I see it's pretty common in Russia just curious...
Hi Tony, I just watched your video again because I like what you did in this flat. I've done a lot of ceramic tile work over the years because I like the idea of using something that cleans easily. If I could I'd cover all the walls in my house in tile but I don't think it would look so good in other rooms besides the bathroom and kitchen. I have an idea what you might like to do on the side of the closet by the door. I saw this done in a flat I was in once. The owner made a folding stool for people to sit and take their shoes and boots off. He made it so the stool stores on the side of the closet outside wall when it's folded up. It was all made of wood except for the cushion on the top. I thought that was really need especially for me since I'm pretty tall and it's a lot easier to unlace boots sitting down. :-) When he pulled the folded stool from its clamp that held it to the wall the two legs came out about the same time it was set on the floor. The stool was hinged to the wall in order to allow it to come down and only having two legs.
Very nicely done..its the most spacious apartment I've seen for Russia....good size kitchen diner too...does it have a balcony?...Great for a couple but not for a family...IMHO...
The area above the kitchen cabinets where the vent hoses are can be closed I so you don’t see them. You did a very nice job. Bright colors on the walls make it look bigger. Such a small bed for them. Did they not want a queen size bed? You should paint the storage both walls and ceiling and tile the floor so it looks like more than a storage.
Yes, we werw thinking to cover the hoses, but it was additional cost, also we must have the access to it by the code. The bed size is quite common for russin apartments, bigger bed would take more space in a small bedroom.
@@TonyKuzminVlogs that section could look like it’s a cabinet that would still allow access to those pipes. My daughters apt the landlord hid the water heater in a cabinet that looked like the others in the kitchen which hid it and still is accessible. It’s a very nice job done on this apt I like how you changed it. I’m not familiar with the codes there but I would think as long as one has access to it which you can get the hinges that would hold the door open either the door opens upwards or either side. It takes away the eye sore of the pipes making it look like an elegant apt. I really like what you’ve done for your parents. I bet they are proud of you and you gave them a really nice gift by fixing it.
My eyes are relaxed now seeing this modern appartment. The vinyl ceiling is such a great idea and love the kitchen !! Also, I didn't know you need AC in russia 😳
There is not only winter in Russia :) Summer is pretty hot, especially in south regions. 28-35 celsius is a normal temperature there. Sometimes even 40.
Very nice! I wonder if you showed it finished. Beautiful finishes. Love that you have a cat! I live in Los Angeles. No heated towel racks for most. Very modern. Where is a dryer for clothes? Thank you.
@@TonyKuzminVlogs I forgot to mention much I love the heated floors. I am in Florida it's rarely cold. Maybe two months. The heat in our house is dead. The floor is made of stone, terrazzo. It's ice cold in the winter. But retrofitting heat underneath it would just cost a fortune. Too bad because it would probably solve the problem. Are you going to post more when it is finished? Also do you* buy these apartments or do you rent them? *The tenants
@@pamelajaye this is my parents apartment, they bought it and I did the design :) I'll make another video next time we wisit them. There are some little updates. We also bought our apartment that we were renting, but its an old one, I have a series of videos about it :)
Not bad interior wise, nice bright colours. But how did you get that washing machine in there? Let's hope it'll never break, cause exchanging it must be a hard job in that tiny space 0.0 The shower is very spacious, almost reminds me of showers in a swimming pool or a spa The grey glazed tiles behind the towel rack are also very nice.
It sounds like just BASIC SKILLS in Russia, is you have to be a building contactor. Most peoples in the USAs know very little about, USAs call it "Upgrading" their houses and condos
Luv how u recessed the washing machine into the wall 👍 & I have recently gone back to using a shower curtain instead of a shower door. Hated cleaning the shower door, as it took time to get it looking pristine. Or maybe I just have OCD 🤣🤣🤣. Luved ur work. Looks fab
The recessed washing machine is my "know how" :) I did that trick many times in my projects. Glass door coud be a very annoying element, but it looks much better, also there are some coated glass that lets water drops roll off the surface. Very helpful if you have ocd :D
I may not be seeing correctly, but can the washer slip out past the toilet is you have to replace it? I like how you did it. You have done an amazing job! I know your Parents are proud of their beautiful home.
Well done video. The new apartment is a big improvement over the Soviet Khrushchekayas, which were a great improvement over the dormitories and hovels they replaced. Nice job.
Very nice set-up. Thank you for giving us from America an inside view of your apartment. What are the pipes above the cabinets in the kitchen? For me I would have the washer accessible to the bedroom side instead of the bathroom side. I've subscribed and look forward to seeing more from you.
Beautiful design. Very modern but cozy-looking. The only thing I’d change is having the toilet in it’s own room with no sink. But I know that’s a fairly common thing in Russia/Europe. You have to touch the toilet room door and the bathroom door with “dirty” hands before you can wash them after using the toilet. I have two kids and thinking about the potential germs they could spread from one space to another makes me shudder, lol.
Why do the new construction not have larger bathrooms and laundry space? Still has Soviet elements to it. Kitchen is like Soviet, too. And exposed pipes are odd and the water heater.
Good English. I always get a little unsettles because in the U S the rooms would be square instead of rectangle. My space relation is not great and for some reason it feels very different. Nice to see a new apartment instead of the really old ones people show. You did a great job.
Really nice 👍 I’m from Florida🌴USA 🇺🇸 Just subbed. How much do you pay? I think you said you own..so how many SQ ft , and how much in USA 🇺🇸 $ Thank you.
Can you explain something to me what's up with these radiators meet the apartment look old even though the apartment is new is there any kind of heating system because radiators don't put out that much heat
Radiators are quite cheap, reliable and easy to maintain heating system. The best way would be to use water heated floors, but it's very expensive. That why radiators are so widely used in Russia.
@@TonyKuzminVlogs in the USA it's called radiant floor heating and it's very expensive to use here too. instead we use oil burners and natural gas as well as electric heat, but electric heat is very expensive.
@@jazzythecat918 I mean radiant floor heating is actually cheaper to use then other types of heating if you usewater pipes instead of electric heatin wires. But its wery expensive to install.
@@TonyKuzminVlogs our home and apt construction is very different due to many different types of climates and different water table levels. We also bury and enclose all our main plumbing pipes. So if the radiant floor heating breaks you need to dig up the floor to fix it. In addition most houses in cold climates here use hard wood floors. In hot climates they tile the floors. We also have more square footage in houses that makes it more expensive to install. We put the pipes in the walls going straight up and down, not in the floors. I like the shower stall. The tile style looks exactly like what you'd see here. My neighbor and cousin have the same tile design and shower body. Here we use stackable washers and dryers to save space. It's rare to have a washer and dryer in a NYC apt. It's only since covid that new and renovated modern apts are adding them, but still it's a rare thing.

Thank you for showing us this new apartment. Looks very nice indeed.
Greetings from Sweden! 👏👍
Thank you ☺🙏
Heated floors and heated towel racks are common in the 🇺🇸 in houses not so much in standard Apts... heated towels racks are a easy purchase at department stores but washers and dryers are common in apartments and private homes so an electric towel rack isn't really necessary. You did an amazing job with the remodel.
Question why is the toilet in a separate room than the sink and shower? I see it's pretty common in Russia just curious...
Thank you! The toilet is separate to let you use it while other family member having shower for example
Nice apartmente, I really dont like wall paper, Ill prefer painting the wall myself rather than placing wall paper lol, but thanks for sharing! :)
Thank you! Me too, but it's more like a safe choice :)
Yes! we actually plan to put some kind of bench beside the closet, but not folded. Also there will be a cat's toilet inside of it :)
What a beautiful apartment. Great job on the design and I really love that your toilet is in a separate room ❤️
The separate toilet is very common in Russia
You did a beautiful job finishing out that apartment!
Thank you :)
Very nice. I love the big windows. Looks sturdy.
Thank you 🙏
A very nice minimalistic apartment! Looking forward to when the furnishings are all complete!
Thank you! Hope to get the rest of the furniture soon :)
Really super nice!!
Thank you :)
Very intelligent use of space and modern design, thank you for sharing ✨🙏🏻✨
Thank you! Starting next interesting project soon, stay tuned :)
Very nice! All the more after removing the walls making the house looks spacious
I always try to remove wallws if possible
Very nicely done..its the most spacious apartment I've seen for Russia....good size kitchen diner too...does it have a balcony?...Great for a couple but not for a family...IMHO...
My parants are happy with the result :)
We use drywall to finish our ceilings and walls. Can a person use drywall to finish their walls and ceilings in Russia if they want to?
Yep, drywalls are also very common thing in russia, as well as drywall cielings
Great video, thanks for sharing with us all 😊
Thank you 😊
Thanks for the tour. I would turn the washer around and have access to it from the bedroom closet.
It would be to noisy, usually we star the loundry at night so not the best idea to have it in bedroom, also there is water and stuff
A beautiful home! It reminds me a lot of the places I lived in Norway
Oh, Norway is amazing!

You did an amazing job! Well done!
Thank you :)
Nice work, looks great.
Thank you :)
@@rissanen1957 yes this it the way to hide it :)
I love that the bedroom door has a milky glass window and what a great idea to have a vinyl ceiling!
Vinyl cielings are very popular in russia for the last 15-20 years
Very nice! I wonder if you showed it finished. Beautiful finishes. Love that you have a cat! I live in Los Angeles. No heated towel racks for most. Very modern. Where is a dryer for clothes? Thank you.
dryers are not a thing in rissia, idk why :) we just dont usrd to it, but I plan to install it in my apt
I think it is the same in many places and here we used to use clotheslines. Cheers!
Do the individuals buy the apartments or rent them?
Usually rent. Mortgadge is expensive in russia 8-11%
Nice! And the bathroom is awesome.
Thank you! We are pretty happy with the result 😁
@@pamelajaye these floors are amazing! Our cat's favourite pplace to sleep 😁

Very nice! Love the wallpaper. Your design is excellent!
Thank you so much 🙏
You're so close to 1K! Keep it up!
Yeah, almost there 🤤
I think it was a good idea to blow out the wall between the kitchen and living room. You're right it does make it look a lot more spacious.
I like open spaces, high cielings and so on, so I always try to remove walls :)
Very nice so pretty 👍I love the open space. PGH Pa USA. Nice concept for new apts. Thanks for sharing. 👍 I'm sure your parents are loving it. 🙏🌹✝️
Thanks! Glad you're liked it!
What happens if you don't have electricity.
Beautiful! Very up to date! Good taste. I love it!
Thank you! If we dont have electricity evrytbing will be off, but nowdays its very rare.
How much was the apartment? How much are the utilities: heat, water, electricity per month? Thanks for the tour. And how long do vinyl ceilings last?
The vinyl cielings may last 10+ years from my expirience, but I think it is 20+ . All utilities like $50-60 per month, and the apt was around $50K
Great job, loved your style,by the way we use the same towel panels in our apartments, love from Turkey❤️
Thanks! In Russia we have similar towel panels made in turkey :)
@@TonyKuzminVlogs 🙈😊
Not bad interior wise, nice bright colours. But how did you get that washing machine in there? Let's hope it'll never break, cause exchanging it must be a hard job in that tiny space 0.0 The shower is very spacious, almost reminds me of showers in a swimming pool or a spa The grey glazed tiles behind the towel rack are also very nice.
Thank you! Yeah, hope the washing machine will live there forever :) but you can pull it out if needed.
nice apartment, congrats!
Thank you!
It sounds like just BASIC SKILLS in Russia, is you have to be a building contactor. Most peoples in the USAs know very little about, USAs call it "Upgrading" their houses and condos
I have 17+ years of Interior design expirience :)
Beautiful place, your English very good, thank you from Texas.
Thank you :)
It's very beautiful! I've never seen the ceiling covers before!
Thank you :)
Great apartment, but I would put the washing machine in the kitchen or in a hallway closet. The bathroom looks a bit crowded like that.
Thank you!
We prefer to keep dirty clothes and cleaning chemicals away from kithcen and food, also all this loundy aromas :)
It is possible :)
Nice video! A great tour 😄
Greeting from Chile
Thank you 🙏😁
Well done video. The new apartment is a big improvement over the Soviet Khrushchekayas, which were a great improvement over the dormitories and hovels they replaced. Nice job.
Thank you!
Are all the apartments spacious in the country where you live? Don't you have hovels? If yes, let me know what the name of this country is.

Very nice set-up. Thank you for giving us from America an inside view of your apartment. What are the pipes above the cabinets in the kitchen? For me I would have the washer accessible to the bedroom side instead of the bathroom side. I've subscribed and look forward to seeing more from you.
Thank you! These pipes are from extraction hood and gas heater
Are you sure that vinyl ceiling is safe? if there is any electrical spark vinyl will easily cause a fire.
That kind of vinyl does not sustain fire. Also the whole aparment is a cocrete box, so it is quite safe
how can i get that beautiful floral sparkly wall coverings?
buy it :)
Cool place! I liked this video, just subbed!
Thank you! 🙏
nice one bedroom apartment
Thank you :)
Wow, you did a great job.
Thank you :)
Thankyou. I know, that's not ideal situation, and usually if there is enough space I put a small sink it toilets.
It looks great! You did a great job! ♥️
Thank you so much :)
Why do the new construction not have larger bathrooms and laundry space? Still has Soviet elements to it. Kitchen is like Soviet, too. And exposed pipes are odd and the water heater.
It all costs money, there is an apartments with bigger bathrooms and pantries but it is more expesive, each square meter adds a lot.
It’s so nice and pretty.
thank you!
Nice apartment
Thank you!
OMG YOU SHOWED US THE BATHROOM FOR ETERNETY!
Good English. I always get a little unsettles because in the U S the rooms would be square instead of rectangle. My space relation is not great and for some reason it feels very different. Nice to see a new apartment instead of the really old ones people show. You did a great job.

I think I would miss my clothes dryer if I moved there! 😂
yep, dryers are very convinient :)
Wonderful job. Beautiful apartment.
Thank you 🙏
