Aprilia does have my brand loyalty. Started on a 2stoke rs125. Stepped up to a restricted dorsoduro 750 and riding a tuono 1100 at the moment. Thanks for the review Chops!

What a fab bike! Looking forward to hearing how it compares to the Street Triple... Your mic picked up the sound beautifully on that vid, sounds great doesn't it....top work as ever sir!
I feel like the colored plastic is MUCH better then painted plastic because the color will last longer and when it fades we can polish it back to new and as for the wind it does get a bit heavy on the shoulders up so at highway speeds I just lean in a bit for now but I'll be upgrading the windscreen to a screen a few inches taller to help with that! All in all though I LOVE MY TUONO!!! Happy riding friend!
What! Cruise control on a mid size bike, Ducati I hope you are looking and put cruise on the Streetfighter on a next update🙄. Looks a great little bike that chopsy . 👍
Congrats on being one of the very first people to be able to test-ride the new Appies, Chopsy. :) Speaking of the bike, I like the overall design and especially the color scheme on this 660 Tuono (probably a tad more than the RS660 even). I still can't decide if I like the new design of the front mask, though. It does look much more modern but whenever I see it, I think an ant's head (or praying mantis's). I can't help it. :D Still, I am interested to see how the RS660 compares to this. Looking forward to you next vlog.
Wow that is expensive stuff in Aus. Mt09 might be a nice bike, the mt07 can't hold a candle to the Aprilia. Driven both and seriously impossible comparison.
In Some EU countries (Denmark at least), you can only limit the bike to A2 if it has less than double (96 hp) of A2. thats probably why they announce it as 95 in EU
A2 bikes can be restricted versions of a bike that has not more than 70 kW originally, which is 95 metric horse power. This is then restricted to 35 kW to make it A2. That's why it's officially 95 hp in Europe.
Bring on the RS and a post ‘run in’ comparison......hold that sunshine too. Looks and sounds good but the sprint/street triple was a telling distraction 😉 Great video, many thanks.
nice review man sweet bike i don't fancy the leg position for me being tall but it is a lovely bike. Roll on the good weather. An extra 500 quid for the RS is a no brainer.
Cracking review Chops 👏🏻👏🏻. Aprilia launching some really nice and well placed bikes into the market. I have to admit before i actually bought my RSV4 i was always a little sceptical of the Aprilia brand but after owning it for a year and half im absolutely sold on it. Only one major floor in the Aprilia brand just a lack of dealerships if they could sort that out I’m sure they’d sell many more bikes!!
Great Review Lamb Chop. I'm looking into getting back onto a bike after 25 years. Used to ride a Ducati Pantah. The Tuono looks like it provides a more forgiving riding position (than the RS) and considering that I'll be 60 soon would be a good choice. I'm 175cm (6'9") and 72kg (11 stone 4lb), smaller that you (who isn't ha ha) and I'm wondering if it would be a good fit for my body type long term. Comments from others also most welcome. Cheers.
Top vid. Just a bit disappointed that the trend seems to be releasing bikes around the 650cc point for the road. There’s nothing for those that want a bit more but not the full fat version. Eg around 130bhp for the road.
If you tune and/or put a full exhaust on a 2021 mt09 (when it comes out and when they make a tune for it), duke 890, street triple rs, kawi z900, all ducati 939cc engines, you will be very close to 130hp
CC is a deal maker for me; if Street RS would only update to CC! Touno 660 is a great effort by Aprilia, they deserve credit for investment in mid-weight seriousness. Thank you Chopsy from the US.
Whay a lucky day for you : beautiful motorbike .....and beautiful sunny day. Just missing some twisty roads...Come with me next time. Nice video, grate !
As an older member of the biking fraternity I was gobsmacked at the amount of rider aids, what next heart and blood pressure moniters to see how much exitement you handle ! Lovely machine can't wait for the next one.
Tested it today in Paris and loved it. Tested the Triumph Speed Triple this morning too and found it too rigid. Have to chose between the Tuono and the Street Triple. I have a feeling that the Tuono might just be my new bike😂
Thank you for giving insight on this bike! I am as tall as you and i believe i will just go for the RS 660 instead! Great review! Keep up the great videos!
There is supposed to be a torque improvement after the first service as the map is updated for full use of the rpm and torque. They must limit it with the initial map so it can't be thrashed during the running in period.
Brilliant review Chopsy. Looking forward to the RS review and comparison. I think the RS will be my choice for the perfect road bike personally but we’ll see. Keep up the good work 👍
I have the 1100 Tuono Factory, Wheels motorcycles put an Akkrapovich on it when bought new. The 660 looks great but it’s not far off the weight of my bike, around 200kg wet. I’d assume it was going to be a lot lighter, especially with the stubby exhaust. Has the euro 5 legislation put heavier cats within the bike ? Great video Chopsy, your production values look great, Regards, Colin
Chopsy well done on getting the ride and for posting. You mention the Trident a few times but it’s about £3000 cheaper than the Tuono, wouldn’t a Street Triple R be a better comparison or 890 Duke? Keep up the good work 👍🏻
This bike is amazing but lets hope 2 years from now the forums won't be filled with horror stories about leaks and electronic failures like duke 790. great review as always
Very instructive test ride of the Tuono 660; thanks. For my money I’d take the slightly pricier RS 660 with the added goodies as the described riding position (the main difference and marketing play) isn’t that different from the comfortable RS. And the point Chopsy makes about diminishing returns on litre-plus power houses in our camera- infested country can’t be ignored, even if the temptation is there to mount the larger Aprilias. Looking forward to the comparison.

How is the gearing? I love the sound Aprilias make, but something like the Tuono has so much power and revs so far for the gearing you can't ring out the gears without going insanely fast. My Kawasaki with a 650 p-twin is about good for the riding I'm able to do where I spend a lot of time in 2nd and 3rd gear, but even the top of 3rd is getting pretty fast. Roads are almost too curvy. That built in luggage rack/plate is really cool. I'd put a small top case on it. That has to be one of the coolest things on this bike to make it a more usable bike.
I look forward to your videos coming out. Cheers me right up 👍 Lack of fuel gauge has been the reason I've never owned an Aprilia or Ducati. About bloody time 😃
Nice review! Every specs sheet I've seen is saying that the Tuono 660 has 183 kg wet, not 194 like You have told in the review. I think it was also important to say that it is possible to buy the IMU as accessory. Still, I am waiting for the comparison with Street Triple!
Z900 v2.0 is the best "middleweight" today. The Gsxs-750 comes second. That being said, the Tuono 660 is better than the MT-07 (too tiny) and MT-09 (iffy frame) for sure.
95hp = 70kw which is the maximum amount of original horsepower on a motorcycle for it to be allowed to be restricted to 35kw which makes it compatible for the a2 license.
Greatreview as always, looking forward to the comparison with the street triple 765r, i have an 18 model and love it. Ridings position looks very similar and the brakes look the same M4. I will be very interested in your opinion, cheers from Australia.
The suspension works well on the way heavyer (+30kg) shiver 900 and dorsoduro. The only problem is to set it up, for you weight and riding style. I do have 85kg in gear and don't need more suspension as I lack the skill and a few metric tons of balls to go any faster then the slow shiver already goes on twistys so why invest more money on suspension if you can go about 160kp/h on the road in a corner (marked as 80kph/h)... Seriously this suspension is plenty fast enough on the road. Chopys is just teased on the really really great stuff and his olderly butt has collected a few more stones then the average Italien rider has... 🙈
Both the Tuono and RA are launching in India but since they’re fully imported, it’s expected to cost a whopping 15K GBP (approx). The ST3 RS costs less than these on-road. Not gonna see much of these on our roads unfortunately.

The seat comment you made worries me. I’m currently in lockdown in Australia until November. I purchased one subject to test ride and I’m a big bloke. 195cm and 133kgs. Can you elaborate more on what it’s like when you can feel the seat pushed up against your back?
First decent review on this bike I've seen. It does seem expensive compared to other naked bikes with the same sort of power like the street triple S and 790duke. Also going to be as much as the RS660 once options are added to match the RS spec.Every review says how comfy the RS already is so that means it mainly comes down to styling to choose between them? That's if your prepared to part with £10,000 for less than a 100bhp bike when you could have something like a street triple RS with 120bhp for similar money. Can't wait for your thoughts when you do the comparison video.
I totally agree, it is too expensive, not enough punch for that price... Might get a decent discount at the dealers. Most kid sized Aprilias (shiver and dorsoduro) are well discounted...

Great looking swingarm , as usual from Aprilia
Looks great. Where would your money go tho, the 'priller or the KTM790/890...?
1290 Super Duke.
@@Lex-Rex Not in the same price bracket.
