Thank you. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos! BTW, Aprilia is the one that put itself in this category (not me), they did it based on power, performance and price (mostly price imho). And I kind of agree with Aprilia, especially with the price, it's 3-4 k more than the "budget" group bikes, that's about a 50% higher price tag. The MT07 which is at €7.3k and Tuono at €11k, it's just not fair to compare the 07 to this. I like the new MT07 way to much to do that. :) take care, Scott edit: for €11k, I'd take the MT09SP over this all day long! :)
Congratulations Scott for the video. I also tried the Triumph RS, KTM 890 R and Aprilia Tuono 660 and I must say I agree on every word you say. Just be aware that the 10550 euro of the Tuono includes the sellers additional costs (330 Euro by KTM, 450 Euro by Triumph). However, even as such, the Tuono is no budget bike.

Hmm...I'm always careful about colors on a bike. It's like picking a girl friend, everyone's taste is different. But, with that said, this color really POPED in the sun, it looked good but then in the shade it was kind drab/boring. So it really depends on your first impression when you saw the bike in this color. Was it "wow that looks good' or "it's ok" or "hmm...I don't know if I like it". Because one year later, you will probably feel the same way as you did when you first saw it in person. One thing about that platform under the rear seat. Rear seat actually keeps the rider seat attached to the bike. So once you remove it, nothing holds the rider seat in place. Is it hooligan enough? (Genuine question). Compared to the V4 1100 Tuono is it a better road bike or is there a chance that you could eventually want for more (on the road)?
Yea, it's fun and yes it is a hooligan bike but you are right, I was often times during this ride wanting more power. But there is also a guilty pleasure of ringing out motor coming out of every corner too. :)

Great review Scott! As most of my riding is comuting and urban, I'm thinking of trading my BMW r1250GS in for a Triumph Street Triple R but then saw this bike. Have you recently ridden the Triumph and, if so, which would be your pick? Cheers
Yes, I rode the RS last year when it got updated and I did a video too and did a track day on one the year before. The difference between the two is that the RS is a serious track day weapon and this is a fun machine. When I get on an RS, it's focused, solid, single minded in that it just wants to go fast, period. Nice review! Also road all of the mentioned bikes and the tuono suprisingly, eventhough or maybe because having the "Luftpumpe" behaviour motorcharacteristic, it was the bike I had most fun with on my 30 mins Testrides. Just not sure if its the best allround bike and if it is the best pick long term...
Great review of a great bike. A bit too much money to justify when I could get a 2 year old Street Triple RS for at least a couple of grand less. Would prefer it in the red and black. That yellow is just too much!
Hope you'll review the 2021 MT-09 SP soon! That housewife is looking pretty sexy to me now that Yamaha has apparently fixed the handling and throttle response, added some ponies, and put in an IMU (which is a requirement for me for a street bike). With no IMU I unfortunately have to rule out the otherwise impressive Z900, and the Street Triple and 890 Duke are off my list since I feel like they are less comfortable for a tall rider than the MT-09. The 660 Tuono looks underpowered and overpriced in this crowd to me, not to mention the limited number of Aprilia dealers in the U.S.
i agree seems as if they added to much plastic to be Naked..Not even close to the absolute GRUNT and pure power of the new 889 triple mt09sp. I have a mate who rips 890 r ktm, it looks like sh*t compared to yam
Well, I divide the middleweight nakeds into two groups, Performance & Budget. This is in the performance group for many reasons I explained in the video, mainly being cost. The Trident is in the budget group with the MT07/CB650/Z650/SV650. Which btw, all are cheaper than the Trident except for the Honda. ride safe, Scott
I know I will be kicked off this planet, but I really hate the Tuono! It's actually not her fault, but Aprilia's to call her a Naked Bike, when she is not! I'm so annoyed with her and her big sister because of that. Call her what she is, an Allrounder, and I might be able to like her. The fact that both Tuonos seem to be good bikes makes it even worse. They should not be compared to bikes like the BMW XRs. Sorry for being so grumpy Scott, because you know that I like your videos. Anyway.... Take care and stay healthy 👍
😁👍 No worries, it's ok to give your honest opinion, I try to do the same with my reviews. Aprilia has called the Tuono a "naked" bike for almost 20 years now (since 2002), so I don't think they'll change that label. They are the "Ferrari" of motorcycles, so they call a bike whatever they want and get away with it, they just don't sell enough bikes to compete with the "normal" OEMs, so don't worry about them 😉 (BTW - the BMW S1000R has about the same amount of fairings too, so it really comes down to "where does one draw the line" on when it becomes "faired" and not) take care, Scott
@@NothingToProve Thank you Scott. I knew that you would not bash me for my opinion. But the hardcore-fans of the Tuono usually take it very personally when I say my opinion about this bike. It's kind of regular thing in my life. Usually I end up with those confrontations when I find something I just can't stand. Because it's always something that comes with those kind of fans. Btw... It is not the amount of fairings that disqualifies the Tuono as Naked Bike. If that was the case I would have to attack the Ducati even more intense, right? It's the size of the front. We call it "Lampenmaske" in Germany. I don't know the proper english term.

Nice! Thanks for doing this. I asked about this on your other video and you delivered! Good man. Im sure you'll be doing the new s1000r and the new monster as well right?!
Thanks! Yea, as soon as it is in...I'll be on it!
The wheelbase of1370mm is almost equal to that of a CBR250r honda...it will handle brilliantly
Scott we miss you. Hope all is well?
Yes, all is well, thank you.
Staying inside where it's warm and dry cause outside it's cold and wet.
take care,
Scott
Shouldn't the wet weight of the '21 Duke be 412lbs in the chart?
You're right, good catch, fixed, thanks!
NTP competition chart is missing the CB650R ✌️
That's because it's in the "budget" group.
@@NothingToProve ok ill take that✌️...
hmm mt09 sp next methinks NTP ?
Just the normal MT09 is scheduled next, not the SP...as of yet...but will try for one. :)
@@NothingToProve maybe Aprilia will do a factory version of both 660's which would probably suit the mt09sp better
Has anyone spotted how the headlight profile looks like a bird of prey....
@1:40 Irrefutable proof that motorcycle riding is similar to romantic foreplay.
@@josephmicele1297 the build quality or aesthetics ?
You are literally the only person I've ever seen that had complains about the 660
Quite a few people aren't in the US and have dealers. The Yamaha is so ugly.
Love the comment “Italian Supermodel, v. Japanese Housewife” 🤣
How come the trident 660 was not included , that's a bargain there since Japanese bikes are getting pricier
Well, I divide the middleweight nakeds into two groups, Performance & Budget.
This is in the performance group for many reasons I explained in the video, mainly being cost. The Trident is in the budget group with the MT07/CB650/Z650/SV650. Which btw, all are cheaper than the Trident except for the Honda.
ride safe,
Scott
Did I just see a GPX750R in the background?? Forget 660. Scott you have to make a review on that! 🙂
Yea, that was just one of a few good old bikes they have there from the 80's. All of them are in good running condition too...surprisingly.
didnt sound like you even got it above 4k rpms
oh come on, at least 3 and a half 🤣🤣🤣
It's a pity its just 660cc. At least 800cc and good torque in the lower rpm's and it would be a real contender in the middle class.
Had a deposit on this bike but my wife guilted me so hard I let it go. Really kicking myself. 133 a month payment .9 apr. SHIT!
which one is going to stay home with you, which one is going to take half :)
Great toy. Wooow...for the kg. Top
I choose this over MT09 because Tuono looks like a model and the new MT09 looks like a ugly woman.
Buyer beware! My Aprilia Tuono 660 broke after 9000 miles. And now my engine has to be replaced under warranty.
reason being?
They are the "Ferrari" of motorcycles, so they call a bike whatever they want and get away with it, they just don't sell enough bikes to compete with the "normal" OEMs, so don't worry about them 😉 (BTW - the BMW S1000R has about the same amount of fairings too, so it really comes down to "where does one draw the line" on when it becomes "faired" and not)
take care,
Scott
I don't know the proper english term.
traktor
Donald Trump made a review of a tuono! 😜
You sound like Donald Trump lol
This guy talks like trump
