Some people complain that this is not a real naked bike. What baffles me is that no other manufacturer has copied this brilliant concept! What alot of naked bike owners (me included) complain about is the lack of wind protection , especially on the highway. My other bike is a Harley Lowrider S and I figured I'd have both because they fill different purposes, but the Tuono is making me think of selling the Harley because I only want to ride the Aprilia now, it's just so fun

My only "frustration" is that I've always enjoyed full-throttle redlining various high-revving bikes i've owned (all 130hp or less). With the Tuono, full-throttle in second gear you're bumping the wheelie control rhroughout 😅, and full-throttle 3rd gear, you're over 100mph with lots of revs to go. I could listen to that idling for hours! Paint pops in the sun. Absolutely gorgeous machine. Characteristics that don't get in the way but you can learn to work with is what makes relationships with machines special - they need some thought and consideration from the rider. Whereas 'perfect' machines get very boring very quickly as it requires no real skill or consideration. I got rid of an S1000RR for this reason - a marvel of engineering, but once I'd got over the initial rush, I found rides more like a very dangerous version of a video game!

Such a fantastic bike, sooooo jealous Greg. Best sounding bike on the road. One thing that surprised me is the low spec clutch and front brake levers, I think I would upgrade those if I was lucky enough to own the bike. Keep up the great work Greg and ride fast and safe.
I got the exact same bike, just installed the same exhaust a few ago and just falling deeper and deeper in love with this motorcycle. Aprilia has really captivated me with this Tuono and coming from an avid Yamaha groupie 🤣. Your thoughts absolutely sum up my feelings on it, well put!
@@MrMaaalek Only thing on mine were a few body trim discrepancies from the factory (warped/broken pieces) I found during the installation of some of the mods but the dealer took care of those minor issues right away. Yes same with me , I was riding a touring bike in Ireland a few months ago. My tailbone was battered by the time I got home. On my Tuono no problem at all.
Great video Greg! I feel exactly the same with my 2024 RSV4 Factory they really are amazing machines. I done a 200 mile round trip in a day without any comfort issues. Fuel wise I generally reset the trip and refuel at 100 miles just to be safe as I have no gauge only a warning light. I’ve found It’s also possible to change suspension from A1 - M3 on the fly using the up and down cursor whilst on T2 display screen. Cheers Jake.
I reckon a Tuono straight bar conversion on a RSV4 would be the go for me! More power and better aero. What else is different between the RSV & Tuono of ame year models?
The first V4 i every rode was a early honda v65 sabre. The engine was so smooth and dripping in power for the time. I have loved the V4 engine ever since.
Hi Greg. I test rode one last week for a second time (3 weeks apart) and concur with EVERYTHING you say. I’m really interested to know what engine mapping mode and braking mode you were in, in the video ? I personally found it virtually unrideable in Mode 1 at below 40mph. I had to dial it down all round to 3 in User Mode for it to behave in a similar manner to how yours APPEARS to behave. Keep up the brilliant vids with / without Chopsy.
Would you consider test riding and doing a video comparing your Factory the standard Tuono V4 1100 ? I am thinking in terms of riding comfort for daily commuting with backpack/more comfortably, etc. but still getting some of that V4 awesomeness. Love the channel and happy your Factory brings so much joy to you man!
Fantastic looking and sounding bike, every time I sit on one at a show l think how tiny it is and how it fits me perfectly. As for the quickshifter, they were always meant to be used when on the power to save a bit of time when hard on it. I know some manufacturers have managed to program their shifters to enable smooth up and down changes at low speeds and throttle openings, but to me that's a lazy shifter, not a quick shifter, just use the clutch when pootling. Or go the whole way and get one of the the new electronic clutch options.
Absolutely right about this bike. For myself as a shorter rider the tank hurts my inner thigh and bit too tall. As for quickshifter it’s crap. My bmw r1200r is better and my z900 with translogic is so smooth nothing compares to it. As for performance you can make it a lot better for free. Remove cables on the exhaust flap. Better sound and smoother with less flat spots and twitchiness. Also removing the charcoal canister makes it overheat less. (Leave the small valve on tank hose) other than that looks can be improved greatly by tail delete and taller windscreen will help the wind. Puig R-racer is a great choice.
Glad you answered the fuel question, that has been my only concern with v4's, not from a price prospective just distance covered, thankyou, sounds amazing. 👍
Nice vid. It's a great bike. Probably one of the best naked sports bike cross-overs as it's got sports bike performance, comfortable & basically faired. You getting some bar-end mirrors or just leaving them off? Looking forward to more future content on it. Enjoy!
I actually like that the Tuono is a non-naked naked bike; makes it easier to live with. Also, a Brembo MC like the 17RCS would not only improve brake feel but also offer a lot more adjustability.
IMHO the RCS isn't that great. The fixed ratio racing master cylinders are a cut above if you're willing to look a bit untidy with the unsightly wiring of a hydraulic switch for brake light activation.
I’m still running my old 2010 VFR1200F, 37,000 miles (13k of them from me), promised myself to try and make it to 50k before considering an upgrade but the standard Tuono (non factory) really interests me. The engine character and sound are very similar to mine but it’s about 150 pounds lighter and the suspension is better, the gadgets are nice too. The only thing that puts me off is the service intervals. The Honda has been very low maintenance.
Yeah good point re the service intervals. They’re every 6K officially but I think it’s well worth dropping the oil out every 3K (which is an easy job - probably 45 mins max given the access is right there). Definitely a consideration but the standard Tuono will be great
Congrats on the Tuono, Gregorio. Best colourway in years, I reckon, so a great pick. What I don't like so much is your putting dangerous thoughts in my head :)
I’ve got a 21’ factory with that same Akra on it. I love the bike. The sound is awesome. The thing is like a wild animal growling beneath you. Btw I would suggest putting forged or carbon wheels on it. Improves the handling.
Ya know I really shopped around. I looked at the 1390 Dukes, The tuono factory, the M1000R comp, and the Streetfighter V4S. And I chose the Streetfighter personally. The Duke was fun but, not what I wanted in the handling department I just didn't bode well with it. The M was great but sooo buzzy to ride and really didn't feel special to me. I'll say this. I didn't vibe with the Tuono personally, the weight and the ergos weren't for me. But you're right, nothing on earth sounds like that Aprilia V4. Nothing. I love my V4S, it fist the bill perfectly for me. And with the akrapovic exhaust it sounds fantastic. But the ape V4 is just a tier above everything with the way it sounds. And the sound alone and cruise control almost won me over. Lol
Great choice the V4S and totally get you - and congratulations on your choice 👍. Glad you love the Aprilia engine too though - it’s impossible not to eh?! Thanks for your comment and for watching
Excellent bike Greg.....really tough to beat the Aprilia overall for the street....and that sound! handling, torque, electronics, suspension....probably the best all arounder aside from the fuel mpg, lol
Thanks for posting; a superb bike, an excellent choice sir. Even if every other bike in the price band (or above) were as competent as the Tuono Factory, and assuredly not many are, it’s that something almost intangible about an Italian stallion that just has the wow factor. There’s simply no denying facts. This was the case years ago when the 3 Italian kings ruled the roads: Guzzi’s Le Mans, Laverda’s Jota & Ducati’s 900SS. Tell me I’m wrong.
I totaled my ‘17 Tuono factory last year at the track. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about when I get to replace it. And after considering a dozen different bikes, it’s still the Tuono. I don’t see how it can be beat for spirited riding on the street and occasional track days. I have a multistrada for touring, so apart from that, it’s literally perfect. My quick shifter worked fine around town and always. Not sure what he’s on about.
Great bike... wish the front fairing cowl was a tad higher, always thought they looked a little low aesthetic wise anyway... agree with that engine, it is just sublime
Your quickshifter may get better with age. I have a super duke evo and after 5k miles for whatever reason the quickshifter became better at slow speeds when it had been clunky previous to that. Hopefully yours will be the same. Glad you enjoy your new bike, ride safe!
Big , big fan of the Tuono Gregorio, great choice 👏👏 And well done for answering a question I’ve been asking for ages, tank range, if it will do 110 ish miles to reserve light that’ll do for me 👍 any chance on your next video that you could record your mileage to reserve over the next 3 tankfuls or so and work out the range and mpg longhand, by calculation not just trusting what the trip tells you 🙏?? I have been fancying one of these for ages, so I think I’ll have a speed white one with some black forged wheels on it 😍 Just one last observation, is the brake lever on your bike set slightly higher than the clutch lever? Or am I just a bit cock-eyed 🐔?? Keep the videos coming, loving them 👍
well bloody hell greg i have the 2021 and i only just realised if i hold down the map selector button it takes me to configure them , teach me not to read the manual 🤣 love the bike bellissimo ❤❤
Like a person who, when they are eating say Mmmmmm over and over, I can hear it in your voice! I have the same, at 69 years of age and love it. They are far more comfortable than many many think and they tour very well too with a H&B rear plate. A tip here Gregorio - in T2 screen, you can actively change the ASC modes - ON THE FLY! This works within any of the modes (Tour, Sport, User) Just use your up or down buttons on the left hand controls. Cheers also, No mirrors? What other mods?
Thanks for the tip Fred - I sort of realised you could do that but appreciate the advice. More mods to come in time yes. Just saving up a bit first 😂. Cheers
I have the 2021 and it’s absolutely amazing. The description of the quick shifter at low speeds is spot on and I too use the clutch around town. But when you use the throttle, the quick shifter is buttery smooth! I still have the stock can and the sound is amazing. Only thing I’ll do is Gabro upmap it now that it’s out of warranty. I’d be curious to know if you’ve already done it, or if you are planning to?
Hi David, thanks for your message! In answer, I have the Akra map installed and in my opinion, it’s worked really well and the fuelling is nice. Let me know how you get on once you’ve up-mapped yours. Cheers
Your right in what you say regarding fuel consumption Greg, I have a SFV4SP my best is 89mls till the light comes on but who cares!! It’s smiles per gallon on these bikes, nowt else matters. 😉
Scary without mirrors Greg. Taking those right turns without an over shoulder safety check is a little risky and on a bike this fast to have no ability to check for the law tailing you (because they heard you coming from half a mile away) is defo a risk 🙂 Brilliant news that you are pleased with it. Never in doubt 🙂 They are indeed fantastic bikes. I have just returned from Spain on my Ultra Gold and it drew admirers everywhere. If you want to chat to random strangers, this is the bike.
Test drove one tvice. 2023 factory. Really Nice bike. But some things bothered me. 1 gets hot when drivning Slow. Almost bbq my feets. 2. Doesnt like Slow speed. 3. Ridning position gets tiring att your wrists after a while. 4 some wierd vibrations at 6-7k. 5 Abit Slow to flick down in corners. But easy to fix. Fantastic engine tho.

so you would say its not a torture to ride it at the highway while at the same time allowing more wind than a sportsbike?
I would say it is a sports bike with a more relaxed riding position, with flat handle bars. But, is not the Kawasaki Ninja SX not of the same ilk!??

Looks and sounds fantastic Greg. I'd be adding the gold rim tape to the rear wheel too. 👌
Yeah that could be a good idea 👍
I got the exact same bike, just installed the same exhaust a few ago and just falling deeper and deeper in love with this motorcycle. Aprilia has really captivated me with this Tuono and coming from an avid Yamaha groupie 🤣. Your thoughts absolutely sum up my feelings on it, well put!
Thanks a lot for your comment and glad you love yours too and feel the same way. Much appreciated 👍👍
any problems so far?
@@MrMaaalek not so far thankfully. Fingers crossed it continues 👍
@@MrMaaalek Only thing on mine were a few body trim discrepancies from the factory (warped/broken pieces) I found during the installation of some of the mods but the dealer took care of those minor issues right away. Mechanically she’s sound and runs super strong. The Gabro flash and the exhaust have completely transformed the bike (in a good way). No regrets about buying it at all.
@@Madvlad87I am not sure do you guys have just slip on or full system? I assume slip on cause full system would not be legal?
looking to get tuono factory next year when my wallet approves :)
Hi Greg thanks for that, love how you spoke about that rider position, & so true to upright & your spine get's it, that sounds like the perfect balance although ii'm still ok with clips--on's, crazy as it sounds it's the upright position that kills me ? ATB Wayne.............
Yes same with me , I was riding a touring bike in Ireland a few months ago. My tailbone was battered by the time I got home. On my Tuono no problem at all.
It's a wonderful experience to have a bike that you just love. The looks and the sound of theTuono are just damn nice.
Thanks so much Mickey 👍
Hope to see more videos on the Tuono! Beautiful machine. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks a lot and no problem 👍👍
Great video Greg! I feel exactly the same with my 2024 RSV4 Factory they really are amazing machines. I done a 200 mile round trip in a day without any comfort issues. Fuel wise I generally reset the trip and refuel at 100 miles just to be safe as I have no gauge only a warning light. I’ve found It’s also possible to change suspension from A1 - M3 on the fly using the up and down cursor whilst on T2 display screen. Cheers Jake.
I reckon a Tuono straight bar conversion on a RSV4 would be the go for me! More power and better aero. What else is different between the RSV & Tuono of ame year models?
any problems so far?
@@MrMaaalek no issues with my RSV4 Factory 1500 miles clocked up now.
Looks stunning. Had plenty of different types of bikes and engine configurations but never had a v4. The sound alone is worth the price
I agree 😂
Great video, I know what you mean about the “feeling” you get riding and owning the V4, hard to quantify but it’s just there 😊
It so is! Thanks a lot Stobo 👍
The first V4 i every rode was a early honda v65 sabre. The engine was so smooth and dripping in power for the time. I have loved the V4 engine ever since.
Great to hear! They’re so good aren’t they?? 👍
Nice one Gregorio, glad your loving your new bike. lots more fun to have one fully run in 🙂
I just bought a base Tuono V4 this week. I'm loving it.
Congratulations and glad you’re loving it 👍👍
I’d love to try. I’ll ask Chops to speak to Aprilia to see if they have a standard one to compare against. Thanks for your nice comments 👍👍
Stunning motorbike and I am sure big grins hearing that V4 sing. Enjoy!
Thanks a lot Paul!! 👍
It’s addictive, good choice Gregorio 👍
Thanks a lot Paul, much appreciated
Fantastic looking and sounding bike, every time I sit on one at a show l think how tiny it is and how it fits me perfectly.
As for the quickshifter, they were always meant to be used when on the power to save a bit of time when hard on it. I know some manufacturers have managed to program their shifters to enable smooth up and down changes at low speeds and throttle openings, but to me that's a lazy shifter, not a quick shifter, just use the clutch when pootling. Or go the whole way and get one of the the new electronic clutch options.
Quite agreed 👍
Torn as what to get next after my speed triple 1200, this video has only added to my problems 😂. What a bike!
Sorry about that!! 😂
My pleasure Geoffrey 👍👍
A lovely looking bike and for me the V4 is the best engine out there.
Thanks a lot!!! 👍👍
Nice vid. It's a great bike. Probably one of the best naked sports bike cross-overs as it's got sports bike performance, comfortable & basically faired. You getting some bar-end mirrors or just leaving them off? Looking forward to more future content on it. Enjoy!
Thanks a lot, much appreciated. Not sure re: mirrors. I’m a Supermoto rider too so have had many years with none so we’ll see. 👍👍
Bloody good choice! absolute monster.
Thanks a lot! 👍
@Vlad88822 oh really? I know what you mean, they certainly come alive and feel more at home going quickly 👍
Definitely a consideration but the standard Tuono will be great
Congrats! Love new bike days! The Tuono v4 Factory was also on my wish list but went with the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT.
Thanks a lot! KTM 1290 SD also fantastic bike so great choice 👍👍
Love the sticker over the dash instead of editing it out.
Well, I’m a little jealous Greg! That’s a beautiful Tuono. Excellent paint scheme.
Yeah sorry!! Thanks a lot for your kind comments, really appreciated 👍👍
Congrats on the Tuono, Gregorio. Best colourway in years, I reckon, so a great pick. What I don't like so much is your putting dangerous thoughts in my head :)
Sorry about that! Maybe time to dust off your cheque book 😂
I’ve got a 21’ factory with that same Akra on it. I love the bike. The sound is awesome. The thing is like a wild animal growling beneath you.
Btw I would suggest putting forged or carbon wheels on it. Improves the handling.
Thanks a lot and good tip re: the wheels 👍👍
@@gregtufnall6276 love the channel man. Congrats in the new Tuono. And yeah the noise that thing makes is a symphony lol
Excellent bike Greg.....really tough to beat the Aprilia overall for the street....and that sound!
handling, torque, electronics, suspension....probably the best all arounder aside from the fuel mpg, lol
Thanks a lot Kirk 👍
Thanks for posting; a superb bike, an excellent choice sir. Even if every other bike in the price band (or above) were as competent as the Tuono Factory, and assuredly not many are, it’s that something almost intangible about an Italian stallion that just has the wow factor. There’s simply no denying facts. This was the case years ago when the 3 Italian kings ruled the roads: Guzzi’s Le Mans, Laverda’s Jota & Ducati’s 900SS. Tell me I’m wrong.
You’re 100% no wrong 😊👍
Not wrong even!!
That's how a V4 should sound. Beautiful. The best sound in biking.
Thanks a lot 👍👍
Great video, your passion and relaxed knowledge shines through - made up for you… gorgeous bike!
Thanks so much Will 👍👍
I totaled my ‘17 Tuono factory last year at the track.
I’m on my second Tuono factory, they never get boring.. but please get using the top end of the rev range.
Great bike... wish the front fairing cowl was a tad higher, always thought they looked a little low aesthetic wise anyway... agree with that engine, it is just sublime
Thanks a lot.
I'm in love with aprilia Tuono's (factory). Nice bike, still love my tuono factory 2008!
Great to hear 👍👍
Your quickshifter may get better with age. I have a super duke evo and after 5k miles for whatever reason the quickshifter became better at slow speeds when it had been clunky previous to that. Hopefully yours will be the same. Glad you enjoy your new bike, ride safe!
Ah yes, good thought so let’s see in time. Thanks a lot
Big , big fan of the Tuono Gregorio, great choice 👏👏
And well done for answering a question I’ve been asking for ages, tank range, if it will do 110 ish miles to reserve light that’ll do for me 👍 any chance on your next video that you could record your mileage to reserve over the next 3 tankfuls or so and work out the range and mpg longhand, by calculation not just trusting what the trip tells you 🙏??
I have been fancying one of these for ages, so I think I’ll have a speed white one with some black forged wheels on it 😍
Just one last observation, is the brake lever on your bike set slightly higher than the clutch lever?
Cheers
Great video. Had a few nice bikes. The tuono maybe next. If the fuel economy isnt so bad.
Sounds good! Great bike that’s for sure, if a little thirsty - but liveable 👍
Great vid, this is one of my fav bikes I think.
Love mine, got the same version as yours with 25,000 miles now
Top man keep the tuono videos coming please bud.
Will do Matt! Thanks a lot
Good vid Gregorio, I feel your love for the bike - that’s how I am about my Speed Triple.
Thanks James. Great to hear you love your Speed Triple - fantastic bike too that’s for sure
Hey Greg. Great bike and video mate. Love the Tuono. Always torn between it and the ktm! C 😀
Thanks a lot! Both great bikes that’s for sure
Bloody lovey 👍 made up for you Greg. Enjoy
Thanks so much Philip 👍👍
Best bike I've ridden but would be very difficult to keep your licence. The power and sound is addictive. It pulls your arms off aswell
Plenty of self control needed that’s for sure!! 😂
Stunning
Cheers
Interesting choice. I prefer the BMW S1000R but that's based on purely hypotheticals. Only ridden the S1000RR so it's assessed on that experience.
R is nothing like the RR. Its dull
@@AdamT1983 dull.. I think that's a stretch! Thanks for replying 🙂
@@AdamT1983s1000r feels faster then s1000rr because more uppright and no fairing✊🔥
No better bike on the road 👏👍
Thanks a lot! 👍
What is the GoPro settings you use? the video is very crisp and fast. I struggle with to set it up.
That’s a good question and one for Chops to answer?! He hands me the equipment and I just get on with it! Chops, over to you please…. 😂
An absolutely majestic machine.
Thanks a lot! 👍
…congratulations mate. Superb. Enjoy!!
Thanks a lot! 👍👍
Congratulations Greg, top bike
Thanks a lot!
Your right in what you say regarding fuel consumption Greg, I have a SFV4SP my best is 89mls till the light comes on but who cares!! It’s smiles per gallon on these bikes, nowt else matters. 😉
Exactly!! Life’s too short eh?! 👍👍
Sat on a WhatsApp part ex my triumph street triple rs for one after your video has been the final push I needed. Expensive video 😂
Sorry about that!!! 😂
Great video. I have the the 2016 factory and love it. Had several bikes including VRFs in the past and overall, I agree the V4s are the best.
Thanks a lot Roy and great to hear you agree 👍👍👍
Scary without mirrors Greg. Taking those right turns without an over shoulder safety check is a little risky and on a bike this fast to have no ability to check for the law tailing you (because they heard you coming from half a mile away) is defo a risk 🙂 Brilliant news that you are pleased with it. Never in doubt 🙂 They are indeed fantastic bikes. I have just returned from Spain on my Ultra Gold and it drew admirers everywhere. If you want to chat to random strangers, this is the bike.
Oh brilliant - great to hear you’re getting loads of admirers on yours and thanks for your comments 👍👍
