  • Wax on, wax off. And welcome to the dojo. The Karate Kid dojo.
Beyond the Backlot kicks it in the San Fernando Valley for The Karate Kid (1984)! We jaunt about filming locations and relive some movie magic in the shoes of Daniel LaRusso.
This time, though, Curtis preps for the fight of his life. Chasing the sun. Crane kicking on the beach. Running from the Skeletore Army. Gaming montage at Golf N' Stuff. Training in the Cobra Kai Dojo. And interviewing actor Martin Kove - aka John Kreese, the Cobra Kai sensei! This episode has it all. Hop aboard the Beyond the Backlot bus as we revisit one of the most quintessential 80s movies of all time!
    ***
A personal note: We would like to thank Martin Kove for his participation. Also, we want to congratulate him and the entire The Karate Kid family on their success with Cobra Kai television series on Netflix!
    ***
What if your favorite movie could come back to life? It does in Beyond the Backlot.
As kids of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, we have fond memories of watching our favorite films over and over. Thanks to theaters and VHS tapes, these movies aren't just blockbusters from the past - they're part of our childhood.
Beyond the Backlot taps into our hunger for nostalgia by visiting the current day locations of our favorite films.

Loveliest thing was when Kreese is being terrifying to Curtis, and then realising he might have hurt him, Martin pops back to apologise! Sign of a great actor, and sign of a genuine nice guy.

    • @HajimeNoJMo
      @HajimeNoJMo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Apparently after the movie, a little girl berated him on the plane for his role as Kreese and the mother tried to apologize. Kove told the mother he was flattered by her reaction because it shows that he did a good job with his acting.

Fantastic video!! I remember being 14 years old, watching "The Karate Kid" in a movie theater, in 1984. The energy inside that cinema was electric. I was hooked. When the credits started to roll onscreen, people jumped up and started doing the "Crane Technique". Such an amazing memory from my teenage years. And now, thanks to TH-cam and great channels such as this one, we can relive these fantastic moments. Thank you and Rock On! =\//-/=🎸🤟

SO glad Cobra Kai was made. A guy loses badly in his teens spends the next 30 years living like a low income loser, abandons his son and son's mother but somehow by chance has an opportunity to maybe make it right again and do something meaningful as a mentor/father figure to a poor kid living in socal.

@Fire&Ice909 let see. At the beach Daniel stepped into his business. I know Johnny broke Alli's radio. For 1, Alli was being a prick and escalated the situation with the radio. For 2, Johnny was angry and couldn't control his emotions. Being emotional doesn't make him a bad guy. For 3, Johnny broke her radio (after Alli escalated Johnny into doing it), but Alli was not in danger. It was just a heated argument that wasn't to the point that it needed intervened with. The beach scene was a misunderstanding. Nobody was in the wrong.
The soccer scene. Johnny was in the wrong, he told Bobby to trip Daniel. But, Daniel didn't know that Bobby was told to do that. Daniel never talked to Bobby before but still started to pound him just for being tripped. Even though Johnny is in the wrong, this scene still tells a lot about Daniel's poor attitude.
The bike scene. Before this scene, Daniel comes into Johnny's dojo after losing a fight to him a couple days prior. Johnny sees this as a threat, so he sends a message to Daniel that he won't tolerate Daniel trying to take his girl, and trying to up his game to fight him again. Nobody was in the wrong here either.
Then months go by. The conflict is over. Daniel pours water all over Johnny for no reason while he was on the toilet. Johnny obviously gets pissed off and comes after him. Daniel causes a multi car wreck outside of a school. Daniel is definitely in the wrong.
Then he somehow convinces Mr. Miuyagi into thinking that it was Johnny's fault. Then they challenge Johnny to a fight at the tournament. Daniel takes full advantage of this agreement to continuously harass Johnny and make him jealous that he took his girl. Daniel is such a prick, and is again in the wrong.
Daniel wins the tournament and Johnny gives Daniel his trophy, showing good attitude, even though Daniel was being a total prick.
So yeah. I don't believe either of them are good. Both are in the wrong.
